Question: Is Facebook The World's Largest Open Source Company?

Quick question: which is the largest open source company on Earth? That's easy, right? It's clearly Red Hat. After all, the company pulls in over $1 billion each year selling services around open-source software like Linux and JBoss.
But as I've argued before, such a distinction fits a very old-school understanding of open source business. Back in 2009, I suggested that Google was the world's biggest open source company, given the copious quantities of code it contributes, not to mention its source code repository, inspiration of massive projects like Hadoop and other contributions. While some took exception to my classification of Google as an open source company, I still think it was accurate.

Except that Google is no longer the biggest open source company. Facebook is.

Samsung Smart Media Player: An Expensive Roku or Apple TV Alternative

Samsung has just announced its Smart Media Player, a Roku or Apple TV alternative that runs the company's Smart TV interface to provide all the streaming you need. Sadly, though, it seems to have priced itself outta the market.

Samsung's software allows the set-top box to run apps like Netflix, Hulu Plus abd HBO Go, but it is a little clunky to use. Add to that the fact that the thing costs $150—$50 more than an Apple TV and more than all the Roku devices—and it doesn't look like a great deal.

There might be one saving grace: Samsung points out that the box includes a cable card slot, so it could replace the device you rent from your cable company. But a TiVo would probably do that job far better. Sorry, Samsung: we think you missed this step.

Davido won’t be amused: Wizkid hails Sesan’s work after leaked ‘Skelewu’ snafu (TWEET)

Despite the controversy that ensued between singer Davido and Sesan Ogunro over the release of the leaked video for the massive hit 'Skelewu', superstar singer Wizkid has shown his support for the music director.

The singer tweeted on his timeline that the music video which Ogunro shot for his single 'Jaiye Jaiye' sometime in September was the bomb, in other words giving him  full backing.

Saka fights Chukwumerije in the 2nd CCSF International Taekwondo Open in Abuja

Popular comic actor and MTN brand ambassador, Oyetoro Hafiz aka Saka is set for a Taekwondo showdown this weekend with Nigerian 3-time Olympian medallist, Chika Chukwumerije.

Also, Taekwando enthusiasts from over eight African countries, 25 Nigerian states, 7 Universities and para-military representatives are in Abuja for what has been dubbed the biggest taekwondo sports event in the country – the 2^nd CCSF International Taekwondo sports open.

The Taekwondo showdown by Saka and Chika will be an exhibition fight on Sunday Oct. 20^th 2013. This sports event put together by the Chika Chukwumerije Sports Foundation, (CCSF), is the 2nd International Taekwondo tournament and will hold in Abuja from October 19 - 20, 2013. Accreditation for the over 500 participants is ongoing prior to the 2 day event.

The foundation, an NGO dedicated to the empowerment of youths through sports, also promotes education amongst upcoming and elite athletes.

Rap mogul Master P's wife files for divorce after 24 years of marriage

After years of separation, New Orleans Hip-Hop mogul Master P's wife, Sonya Miller has filed for divorce from him citing irreconcilable differences after 24 years of marriage.

According to TMZ, Sonya is seeking full custody of their minor children and spousal support. Sonya is also the mother of popular actor and rapper Romeo Miller.

Two years ago Sonya tried unsuccessfully to sue Master P for an increase in child support after they separated but ended up with only $271.00 a month for all four of their minor children. Now that she's finally divorcing him, he'll definitely be ordered to pay more. Master P used to be worth about $200million based off of the success of his defunct Hip-Hop label, No Limit Records.
