“I Don’t Have A Problem With Being Gay” – Nollywood Actor Opens Up
opens up on acting roles that might require him to portray
the role of a homosexual man.
In one of such controversial movies, title Games Men Play
Reloaded, he admitted getting a few negative reaction from
people for playing the role of a gay man.
Hear him:
"It doesn't get to me. Yes, I got a couple of funny
hints from the community that I must be one of
them. I don't have a problem with that. I was just
interpreting a role. But it's only natural that if the
gay community finds you attractive, they would
come after you. Having said this, I have not been
stigmatised whatsoever."
When asked how he was able to successfully play the role, he
says:
"It was tricky, but the thing is that as an actor, you
should learn to zone out and compartmentalize,
which is exactly what I did. I took myself out of
who I was and became the character I was playing.
The moment you are able to figure this out, those
things you call challenges do not exist because you
are living the character at the moment until you
switch back tom yourself."
Eku Edewor TV Presenter tells men some tips on being romantic
declared Nigerian men are actually romantic and for those
who are not, she has some tips for you.........
The Nigerian men I have dated have been very romantic; I
guess it depends on the type of man one attracts and also
what one deems romantic. Know whom you're with, some
guys don't want to say cheesy things and look into your
eyes but they will always make sure your happiness comes
first. Not everything has to be a large "romantic" gesture.
Romance has to do with being selfless. Simple things like,
choosing to stay with your girlfriend all weekend watching
movies instead of being at the clubs all weekend with the
boys is romantic; others are sending flowers for no reason
at all, surprise dinners, heartfelt messages. If your partner
really knows you and loves you, he'll find ways to be
romantic and find ways to make you happy. I actually
find Nigerian guys far more active and good when it
comes to making large romantic statements. A tip to guys,
flowers always makes women happy, even if they say they
don't love flowers. They probably do and if sending
chocolates with cards is what your lady wants, it really
won't hurt or take much time."
I can’t leave home without my sunglasses –Niyola
Do you wear your natural hair some
times?
I love my natural hair, but it's very limiting and a weave is a lot more glamorous and easier to style and work with. They say a woman's hair is her crowning glory, so the more you can do with it, the better for me.
What's your favourite hairstyle?
Whatever hairstyle I love at every point in time is dependent on how I feel at the moment. Sometimes I like to go short,
other times I might opt for something longer. The event or occasion will also determine my style choice. I'm not sure I
can pick a favourite hairstyle. The more the merrier.
How much does it cost you to make your hair and how long does it take?
It depends on what I am doing to the hair.
There is really no set time, anything upwards from 45 minutes. It could be less if it is just a touch up. Except you are
willing to start footing my hair expenses I'll keep the cost private.
How often do you visit a salon?
I hardly go to the salon. I have a personal hair stylist, her name is Chyna Bee and she makes my hair in the convenience of my house. If she's unavailable, then I'll go to the salon, but these instances are very rare.
What is your favourite hair colour and what is your take on women changing hair colours?
I don't have a preference; black, brown, blonde or whatever, as long as it looks good, go ahead and flaunt it. Women mostly operate on moods, so I have no reservations about women changing hair colours.
On what occasion can you go bald?
If I was paid handsomely to go bald, I'd do it gladly. Other than that, I love my hair.
Can we ever catch you without make-up?
I only wear make-up when I have to. The most make-up I wear is a brow liner, mascara, lip gloss and maybe an eye liner. Most times, I don't have on a powder if I can help it. There are occasions that call for more, for instance if I were doing a magazine spread or going on the television.
What is your take on tattoos?
I've seen a few that look really good. If I see an interesting tattoo it grabs my attention.
Do you have any?
No I don't.
Can you get one?
Hardly. I'm personally not sold on the idea of a tattoo but one should never say never. I'm not completely closed to the idea, so we'll see.
Do you think they are fashionable?
They could be, but that would depend on what you have on and where it's located.
Do you patronise Nigerian designers both for your wardrobe and costumes?
Yes I do. There are a lot of very talented Nigerian designers and their work amazes me.
Do you think there is a clear cut difference between fashion and style?
Fashion is what is socially acceptable to wear while style is how you apply fashion to yourself. One can have all the things
considered fashionable and yet not be stylish. Style is also a question of taste. A stylish person is always fashionable but a
person who follows fashion may not necessarily be stylish.
What influences your fashion
statement?
Several things, like the event I'm attending or what I want people to perceive. But it all stems from my state of mind at that particular moment. You have to always dress appropriately, for instance it would be ridiculous to wear a micro miniskirt to a business meeting. Such an outfit is more suited to a night out in the town. Is there any fashion item you can't leave home without?
Yes, my sunglasses
Why and how did you come about it?
It actually serves a dual purpose. The first is to protect my eyes. I have poor sight, and even brief exposure to the sun causes an intense pain, so I developed the habit of always wearing sunglasses and then they became second nature to me. The other reason is that they make a fabulous fashion
accessory. There's something about wearing the right pair of sunglasses that makes a woman look very chic.
What's the most expensive item you own and how much did it cost?
It's a pair of shoes and it was a gift.
What is your fashion weakness?
I love fragrances and shoes. Shoes especially; I could spend an entire month shoe shopping everyday and never get bored.
How many shoes do you own?
I would rather not say, I don't think it is appropriate to list these things, but rest assured that if I wasn't allowed to buy
another pair of shoes, I'd survive.
How do you describe your music?
My style of music is a fusion of R&B and pop. I don't think there's any song I've written or worked on that didn't have lines in Yoruba. I always infuse that into every song. Music is universal and I'm a Nigerian so I strive to make music that
meets international standards but also tells you where this music originates from.
What makes you different from the other ladies in the industry?
I think the consumers of Nigerian music will be better suited to answer this, but the only thing I can say for myself is my
music is tailored to exactly how I feel; which is a reflection of how the average woman feels. I make my music look like
it's directed to one particular person and I try to speak straight from my heart. This way, each person feels that this song was
made solely for them.
How is it competing with men in the industry?
I don't feel or see any competition with the opposite sex. Women have their place in entertainment as do men. Tiwa, Waje, Omawunmi and others continue to prove this daily. There are tons of women doing great in the music industry and the list is endless.
Would you say your celebrity status attracts or scares men from you?
Nothing has changed, I am who I've always been and that part of my life is as it has always been. Men have always been
attracted to me and have no issues stating this, while some others are scared to approach me. I don't think it has anything
to do with being a celebrity. While every woman welcomes and cherishes attention, we must also be careful not to overdo it.
What is your take on cleavage exposure and ladies wearing skimpy and tight dresses?
Everyone is entitled to freedom of expression. One of my favourite sayings is "come as you are". It is what makes one
comfortable that's important. Having said that, there are also boundaries and any right thinking person knows not to cross
them.
Have you considered acting?
Not really, but I have done a little bit of it in recent times. I have a full lifetime to live, so if the opportunity presents itself I would not be completely opposed to it.
Can you give an estimate of how much you spend shopping in a month or this year?
No I cannot, I plead the fifth on that question
What are you currently working on?
My video for Toh Bad was released a month ago. I have a new single out now with Sound Sultan titled, belle no be
showglass. I'm doing radio and TV rounds to promote them. I am working on some more singles, videos and collaborations.
There will also be a surprise next year but we will keep that under wraps for now.

Too Bad: Kanye West Kicks Female Fan Out Of His Concert
Kanye West, 36, ordered a member of his security team to
chase out a female fan from his gig in San Antonio, Texas,
after she and a group of friends repeatedly screamed at him
to take off his Maison Martin Margiela-created mask that
covers his entire face.
The whole incident was caught on video and posted on
Instagram by a fellow concert-goer, and the footage shows
the 'Blood on the Leaves' hitmaker becoming increasingly
irritated by the fan's demand as he approaches the crowd.
He said: 'Now, you can see my face on the Internet, every
motherf**king day. I came here, I open up a mountain…
and you tryin' to tell me how to give you my art.'
The rapper, who then performed a song explaining that he
wears the mask so he doesn't have to worry about unflattering photographs, later gave his bodyguard a hand signal to have the woman thrown out of the show, before he ranted: 'Do I look like a motherf**king comedian? Don't f**king heckle me. I'm Kanye motherf**king West. I'm dead f**king serious.'
Kanye's reaction to the heckling comes just days after his
fiancee, Kim Kardashian, surprised one of her Twitter
followers by inviting her and a friend to join the reality star
in the VIP section for Kanye's concert inNew Orleans on
Thursday night December 5, 2013.
The 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star sent her
security to find the 19 year old fan after she tweeted: 'I'm
looking for Kim SO hard while we wait for Yeezy to come
out. Wya sis? (sic)'
The 33-year-old beauty also brought them backstage to

Revealed: Pastor Tom Samson Explains Why He Wears Big Chains Like Music Stars
interview.
People say that you are a flamboyant pastor, how would
you react to that?
It is because of where I am coming from.
In fact, your neck chain has been described as expensive,
just like those worn by Nollywood stars…
It is because they don't know where I am coming from. I am
here to make a statement, including the way I build my
buildings. Look at this facility, the one in Ikeja, you also need
to come to Royal City. The crown on the building alone costs
a lot. Even the school I build must spell class, the hospital and
so on, the cars I drive, the clothes I wear – they are all a
reflection of what God can do. I will never do anything
inferior for God. Who says that being flamboyant is satanic?
Satan has nothing. The Bible says, "I give you power to get
wealth." Even if I look expensive, it is more of what I give
out than what I wear or have. Between last year and now, I
have given out about 20 cars to those who needed them –
especially missionaries. Where I live, the people didn't have
electricity supply for four years. I had to intervene with transformer and accessories. I depict and reflect God. My
message is that God can lift anyone. I tell the whites that being a Nigerian doesn't mean one has to beg. In Florida, a
man of God wanted to know what needs we had in our church
and I said I would rather ask him that question and I gave him
$2,000. God's word says it is more blessed to give than to
receive. I finance all my churches abroad.
So, you have no apologies for being so flamboyant?
No, I don't.

"God Has Vindicated Me" – Bode George Opens Up About Being Free, Thanks Jonathan, PDP, Wife
His immediate reaction is that God has vindicated him.In a statement entitled 'Glory to God Almighty' after the judgement,
George said: "I have seen the goodness of the Lord today.
The Almighty God in his infinite mercy and the sanctity of his wisdom of the eternal and abiding justice: The innocent may fall, the innocent may stumble, but he will never suffer in vain.Truth may live a difficult life. But it will always prevail. I am now out of the darkness and shadows of evil. The light of God has shone upon me. I now give praise to the good Lord for his abundant mercy and grace.
I thank my dear wife Roli for believing in me and staying the course through thick and thin. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the leader of our Party, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and every member of our great party from the ward level to the highest organ. Today, the truth has prevailed. The good Lord has vindicated me. But I hold no grudge, no grievances against any man. I am strengthened in the strength of the integrity of our Judiciary. I am proud that this nation still has men and women who will never serve the hour to mangle the truth, who will stand for the purity of justice no matter the transient temptings of the moment.
There is indeed an abiding moral here: we must never abandon our convictions. We must never surrender our highest principles. We must never serve the hour to distort the truth. The road may be rough. Our challenges may be harsh and bruising. But we must trudge along. We must be constantly guided in the sanctity of the goodness of the Lord. Today, I am born anew. Light has now prevailed over darkness.
The crucibles of yesterday now remain in the past. I am confronted with a new beginning. My focus, my vision, the total predication of my being is again anchored on service to our dear nation. I have no vaulting ambition. I have no giant dreams or aspirations. We must recommit ourselves to selfless service. We must recommit ourselves to rebuilding the broken places. We must eschew bitterness and malignity. We must tran-scend the narrow podium of ethnicity and tribal prejudice. We must shun the invidious partisan venom that will distort the truth merely to destroy a perceived opponent. This nation is greater than all of us. Let us protect it. Let us serve it with all our hearts and with the fear of the Lord. I remain a humble patriot without malice. I remain a mariner with a story to tell. I have witnessed the goodness of the Lord".
Meanwhile, the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has said with yesterday's ruling of the Supreme Court, there is no more distraction in South west PDP.

7 ways to get to know your husband/wife better
1. Dream share
On separate pieces of paper, write down five to 10 life
dreams independently. Once you have completed your lists,
see if you can guess the other's dreams. You might be
surprised to find out that you never knew your husband
wanted to learn Japanese or have another child.
2. Share a blast from your past
Sharing memories is a beautiful way to bond with your
husband, and many couples don't do this as a natural way
of being with one another. For this activity, fill up a hat
with small pieces of paper on which you've written a year
from the time you two were 5 years old until present day.
Alternate drawing from the hat and sharing a memory — be
it fond, embarrassing, tragic or otherwise — from that
particular year.
3. s*x cleanse
While s*x can be a fabulous way to bring a couple closer
together, not having s*x can be, too! A deliberate s*x fast
can show you what your relationship looks like without
physical intimacy, meaning it has to rely on emotional,
mental and spirtiual intimacy. Don't worry: You can see all
that you need to see in just a couple of weeks. And when I
say "no s*x," it doesn't mean you can't engage in other fun
stuff.
4. Have a best/worst swap
Nightly, be it just before bed or beforehand (at dinner, if
you are kidless or if your kids will give you 10 minutes to
yourselves before dinner), share the best and most
challenging parts of your day. Be sure to high-five your
honey for his accomplishments, no matter how small, and
empathize with any rough patches.
5. Play a trivia game
On index cards, each of you creates 25 trivia questions
about yourselves. Topics might include favorite song, least
favorite relative, biggest pet peeve, biggest turn on, blood
type, etc. Write the question on the front and the answer on
the back. Then, play the game as usual using points, candy,
cash or whatever other fun currency you desire. The one
with the most correct answers is off the hook for a week of
dishes.
6. Engage in each other's interests
Friendship relies on commonalities. And while it is
certainly healthy to have independent pursuits, it is
important to be interested in each other's passions. Become
knowledgeable on your honey's favorite pastime, be it fine
wines or football, so that he not only feels comfortable
sharing this love with you, but that you also can feed his
energy when he does.
7. Take up an interest together
Find a new hobby that neither one of you has ever explored
but in which you share a mutual interest. This could be something you engage in together, such as an intramural
sports team, a book club or a cooking class, or something you try out on your own, such as amateur photography or furniture refinishing. Experiencing something new together will allow you to see each in a fresh way as well as give you two something that is uniquely yours amid the hustle and bustle of life that can pull in you opposite directions.

Jesse Jagz Battles Marijuana Use, May Visit Rehab?
is presently battling with his alleged intake of marijuana.
Jesse Jagz, also a rapper, controversially left his former record
label, Chocolate City, which has his elder brother as its Vice
President.
It was shortly after he dumped the label that another member
of the music fraternity, Brymo, also left in a controversial
manner.
The matter was even dragged to the court and this is yet to be
settled as we speak. Jesse Jagz was only lucky not to have the
court of law involved in his bitter exit from Choc City, as the
Audu Maikori-led label is fondly called.
One of the reasons given by Choc City for letting Jesse Jagz
go was that he was tilting towards supporting the use of marijuana in hos music videos, which is against the policy of
the respected label, which has Hakeem Bello-Osagie as the
Chairman of the Board of Directors of Chocolate City Group.
Going by what we were told, Jesse Jagz is currently fighting hard to reduce his intake of the banned substance. This reporter reliably learnt from industry sources that the rapper might take an option of a rehab to reduce his marijuana intake.
Some of his friends are also said to be helpful, but few of
them might pose as obstacles to him.
Drake Sued For $200,000 Over Missed Shows
success so far, but it looks like some missed concert
appearances from his past are coming back to haunt him.
A Chicago based company is suing Drizzy for a number of
counts over some alleged missed performance dates, calling the rapper out for breach of contract, unjust enrichment, deceptive business practices, and more.
The plaintiffs claim to have invested $202,800 in Drake's
touring, but were never refunded for multiple dates that never
happened. Three dates are mentioned in the suit, including a
March 15, 2012 performance at UIC Pavilion and an Allstate
Arena date on October 18th.
The company also claims that they have attempted to contact Drake and co. about the money owed to them since November 2012, but never heard back.
Kanye West – Watch Yeezy rant about his Grammy nomination (Video)
First off Kanye claimed he's never won a Grammy whenever he was up against a white nominee in any category. Then then went unto say he's pissed because he was only nominated twice at the upcoming awards holding in 2014.
'I'm 36 year old and I've won 21 Grammys. That's the most Grammys for a 36 year old. Out of those 21 Grammys, I've never won a Grammy against a white artiste', he said.
And then continued with a 'Yeezy rant': 'Yeezus' is the top
one or two album on every single list. But only gets two
nominations from the Grammys. What are they trying to
say? Do they think that I wouldn't notice? Do they think
that, someway, I don't have the power to completely
diminish all of their credibility at this moment?'.
'And people come to me and congratulate me on those two
nominations. f**k those nominations! Don't patronize me. I
would rather have no nominations', he ended.
Kanye West got nominated twice for 'Best Rap Album'
'Yeezus' and 'Best Rap Song' 'New Slaves'.

Bishop Oyedepo Tells D'banj to Remove His Bling-Bling
overly enthusiastic with all the current blings and swags of ex-
Mohits star, Dapo Oyebanji generally referred to as D'banj
once they came in contact.
We learnt that D'banj was lately approached to perform at a
Youth programme in Covenant University where in fact the
Bishop was also a particular guest of honour.
Those people present at the Event claimed that D'banj was
presented by MC to step on stage for his performance, D'banj
seemed on point in his standard bling-bling setting of dressing
and when he was presenting his music, the extremely
respectable Bishop Oyedepo stopped him.
According to eye watch witness, we were informed that the
Bishop's gesture took everybody by shock when he told the
'Fall in Love 'crooner to stop his performance.
It was learnt that the Bishop while trying to keep up the great
standard of Christianity, informed D'banj to remove the
whole bling on his neck and to be cautious of what he'd state
on stage.
While a number of the those who were there said Bishop
Oyedepo uttered the caution to D'banj jokingly, nevertheless,
not just a few maintained that he meant every term he
explained concerning the star artist.

Photo: Snow Falls In Egypt For The First Time In Over A Century
"historic" storm in the Middle East brought a rare treat to
Egypt's capital Friday: a blanket of powdery, white snow.
Due to Cairo's low rate of precipitation and typically
above-freezing winter temperatures, snow is an
exceptionally unusual weather phenomenon for the North
African city. So unusual, in fact, that the Los Angeles
Times, citing local news reports, writes that the last
recorded snowfall in Cairo was more than 100 years ago.
Ali Abdelazim, an official at the city's meteorological
centre, confirmed to the Agence France-Presse this is the
"first time in very many years" that snow has fallen in the
Cairo area.
Excited Egyptians took to social media Friday to share
photographs of the unusual meteorological event.

Wine and other unexpected foods Makes Sperm Stronger
Men may want to guzzle up more reds and whites after
hearing this news: Drinking wine makes sperm stronger.
According to a new study, the average modern man has
some sperm problems, what with the heavy caffeine intake,
tight-fitting boxer briefs (bummer), and being stressed out
ALL THE TIME like the rest of us. Has your man had a
cellphone for more than 10 years? His sperm are probably
weaker because of that as well. Great. But never fear, because wine is here! In the study, Polish researchers found that drinking two glasses of wine for three days every week may help men's little swimmers do more laps — so don't go chugging it all right at once.
Making a baby?
Well, light some candles and pop open a bottle or two
before you do the deed. Show your lady that romantic side,
and you might get lucky. Not making a baby? You have my
permission to drink wine anyway.
ARE FROZEN VEGGIES BETTER FOR YOU?
Stock up on the Steamfresh. Even though nothing beats crisp, just-picked vegetables, frozen veggies may actually have more vitamins and minerals than store-bought ones. A new study out of the University of Georgia studied nutrient values of eight different types of frozen and fresh veggies that were stored in family homes for five days. The frozen produce retains its vitamins for a longer amount of time, thus making it a healthier alternative.
LIKE FATHER, LIKE DAUGHTER
It's common knowledge that when a woman is pregnant,
she's eating for two — she has to monitor what she eats
and drinks for the baby's sake. But a new study suggests
that dads may have to watch what they eat as well.
Researchers at McGill University found that when male
mice were fed a diet lacking in folate — which is essential
for women during pregnancy — their offspring were born
with a higher rate of birth defects.
These findings may ring true for humans as well, warning
fathers-to-be to watch their diets and lifestyle. "Despite the
fact that folic acid is now added to a variety of foods,
fathers who are eating high-fat, fast-food diets or who are
obese may not be able to use or metabolize folate in the
same way as those with adequate levels of the vitamin,"
lead researcher Sarah Kimmins says.
A WARM HOUSE CAN BURN CALORIES
Turn up the thermostat, stat! People who live in a comfortable 73 degrees tend to have lower body-mass indexes than those who keep the heat down. While brown fat, which is "fat that burns fat," works its magic in chilly rooms (below 60 degrees), most people don't keep their own homes at that temperature in the winter. People also use more energy and eat less in houses that are set at 73 degrees. The English study surveyed 100,000 people for 13 years. If all else fails, just blame the extra pounds on your (probably) freezing office.

“Anyone Who Says I Bleach is Stupid” –Angry Fmr. Governor Alao Akala Utters
in this interview with ADEOLA BALOGUN and TUNDE
ODESOLA of THE PUNCH clears the air on some contentious issues, Akala in his response to some of the
questions asked claims he's never collected bribe as a
police office and also responded furiously when asked
about his bleach skin saying "Whoever said i bleach is
stupid".
How did you get enlisted into the Nigerian Police?
It wasn't accidental that I became a policeman. It was a
dream I nursed as a young lad. I had wanted to be enlisted
in a profession where I would wear uniform. I would have
loved to be in the military but unfortunately, the day I was
Wto write a test for the police force was the very day the
enlistment into the Army was done. I remember enlistment into the Army was fixed for The Polytechnic, Ibadan. I don't know why those in charge did that. My number was WS44 in 1973. In the police, I would spend one year and become an officer. In the army short service, I would spend six months and I would become an officer.
In the Army short service, there was a limit to where I could get to move but for full course, I would spend three years. I then decided to go for the police.
Why did you want to be a policeman?
I was a barrack boy. My uncle was in the West Africa Frontier; later he joined Ghanaian Army. He was caught up in Ghana Independence in 1957 while he was with the Frontier. They then asked them that anyone that was interested in joining the Ghanaian Army should indicate interest and he opted to stay in Ghana and he automatically became a member of the Ghanaian Army. I went to 3 Battalion Training School and I finished my Form 4 there. I knew how to take care of the khaki and I thus decided I wanted to join the force. So it wasn't a mistake or accidental that I joined the police. When I
joined the police, I discovered that I love the profession and I enjoyed it while it lasted.
To the man on the street, the police force is synonymous
with corruption; was this so in your time?
It is unfortunate; what you are seeing in the police is a
reflection of the society. It is what we have in the society
that we are seeing in the police. So what is happening in
the police is not peculiar to the police alone; it is in all
spheres. If you say police force is corrupt, other forces are
also corrupt because the people are recruited from the
society. So, whatever you see now is the reflection of the
society.
People are of the belief that no retired police officer can
claim that he did not collect bribe while in service; did
you collect bribe?
I am telling you now that I did not collect bribe. Do you
know why I could not collect bribe? Firstly, I had the
opportunity of working in the Administrative Department
of the police for about 16 years. As a matter of fact, while
I was at the headquarters for 16 years, I was being posted
from one department to the other. I did not want to leave,
I was pushed to the field and when I got to the field, I
asked myself why should I be taking bribe? Let me tell
you an experience; there was a relation of mine who had
problems with the police and he didn't want to tell me.
The police asked him to go and bring N1, 000. He did not
have N1, 000; he then went and sold some of his goods to
be able to raise the money. While the fellow was looking
for ways of raising the money, I was aware that he was
raining curses on the police along the line which means
that he might have even cursed the money he wanted to
give as bribe. So the policemen unknowingly too would
be mixing bad money with good money and spiritually,
that has a long way to go in the life of a human being. As
an officer, I would just do what I could for you. So, I just
told myself that as God has placed me above you, why
should I ask for anything from you? If I could help, I
would and for God's sake, an average Nigerian knows
how to say thank you. If along the line, you say thank you
and you give me something which I didn't solicit, that is
from you. But if you start negotiating bribe as I saw a cop
(on the television) that was sacked recently, that is sad.
An average Nigerian knows how to say thank you and if
you help him, he would say thank you; why do you have
to negotiate bribe where you can help? Where would you
even discuss a bribe with me? As a matter of fact, if I
knew that you had a bad case, I would deal with you.
That is where I could be ruthless. And for God's sake, I
worked under somebody like (Inspector General) Sunday
Adewusi for many years and I was with him until he
retired. So, the way we were brought up, you couldn't
take bribe because we were arresting bribe takers. I was
working with Chief Adewusi (at Alagbon) and in those
days, the fear of Alagbon Close was the beginning of
wisdom. When you hear of Alagbon Close, you will
shiver. Then, we were not thinking of how to take bribe.
And again when I got into the field, having dealt with a
lot of people, I felt that people might want to deal with
me too, so I had to be careful. Bribe was not that
pronounced during my time.
It was alleged that you demanded for N1bn from the civil service for your re-election but in the process, the civil
servants too helped themselves to several millions of
naira.
I don't know anything about that. You see, when you
don't know how government operates, you don't talk like
that. Anybody talking like this is very senseless; he
doesn't have any sense. Am I a signatory to the service
account? I did not ask anything from anybody.
You talked about quality, is it in terms of dressing too?
In terms of everything, Akala is a man of quality. Look at
me, I am a man of quality, with due respect. I use quality
materials.
CIs the use of jewellery part of it too?
Yes, I have been using jewellery as a young man. Do you
know what they called Ghana before, Gold Coast. I lived
in Ghana and that was where I got used to it early in my
life. We make statement with our looks in Ghana. In those
days when we were in Ghana, your wife bathed you and took care of you. I am from Ghana, so I have been using jewellery (he sends for an album). I want to show you some pictures. Pictures that I took some 40 years back, you would see chains on my neck. Look at my hand chains and rings in this picture.
That is how I was brought up. Even when I was in (police) uniform, I wore my chain with my uniform.
Is it not was illegal for you to wear necklace with your
uniform?
It was not legal but my uniform would cover it.
Is it part of your own fashion to bleach?
Bleach? That is stupidity; you are asking a very stupid
question, how can I bleach? You are very stupid to ask
that question. What do you mean by that? What gave you
that impression?
(He pulled up his clothe and singlet to show his fair
complexion.)
Is this bleaching? Have you seen the cream that I use that
makes me bleach or did you know me when I was black?
So if you want to write that, put it there that I said you are
very stupid to ask me that kind of question. Don't ask that
kind of question again. What you don't know; you ask.
You don't even know my parents. Is my wife complaining
or my children? I don't know what gave anybody the
impression that I bleach. You don't know me; do you
know what it takes to bleach?
Does your wife still bathe you?
She can't carry me anymore; we are old. Don't forget that the First Lady is not my first wife. My first wife is an old woman like me and she is still with me. She was also brought up in Ghana and that's why I was able to marry her. Most of the people in Nigeria cannot keep up with my lifestyle of cleanliness.
FRSC Official Shot In The Leg In Abuja • It Was A Minor Disagreement But No Shooting – Police
The police and FRSC officials were reportedly engaged in a heated debate along the Constitution Avenue over which of the agencies is responsible for keeping routes clear during presidential movement when the shooting occurred.
The FRSC Sector Commander in Abuja, Kayode Fanola
said his patrol team was stationed along the Constitution
Avenue to monitor vehicular movement yesterday.
"While they were on duty, a senior police officer from
Wuse Division told them to leave the place on the grounds
that they were not allowed to operate there. The patrol team
told the officer they were on official duty and the officer
forcefully dragged out the driver of their patrol van and
drove it away.
"They informed me of what happened and I sent out my 2ic
to find out. He met the police officer driving the van along
Olusegun Obasanjo Way".
He said an argument ensued between the police and the
FRSC officials "and the police officer and other policemen
in police patrol van, number ACCOS (Abuja Crime Control
Squad) 44 attached to Wuse division, started firing. They
shot one of our men by name M. Mundi in the leg. He was
admitted at Wuse hospital".
When contacted, the FCT police spokesperson, Altine
Daniel agreed that there was disagreement between them
and the FRSC personnel "on route lining during presidential
movement yesterday" but denied any shooting.
"There was argument because the FRSC officials have no
right to take part in route lining. But there was no
shooting", Daniel, a Deputy Superintendent of Police
stressed.

Why Obasanjo and Jonathan Parted Ways
Jonathan and his estranged benefactor, ex-President and well
respected African bridge builder, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, was sowed about two years ago, before blowing into the open on Wednesday.
Their differences revolve around seven issues. Although the duo, against all expectations, shared breakfast in Nairobi, Kenya, on Thursday, it was gathered that President Jonathan may henceforth keep Obasanjo at bay on account of his "toxic" letter. Presidency sources said the anger generated by the letter is yet to subside.
Below are the seven issues that led to their current fight:
•Rejection of some ministerial nominees and chief executives
of departments and agencies from the South-West from
Obasanjo;
•Alleged refusal of Jonathan to consult Obasanjo on key
policies and decisions of the government;
•Disagreement over the leadership of PDP at national level
and in the South-West, especially the sack of Obasanjo's
loyalists like ex-Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, ex-Governor Segun Oni and Bode Mustapha;
•The rise of G-7 and ultimate defection;
•Obasanjo's allegation of Jonathan's administration of lack of
direction, especially on anti-graft war;
•Use of international fora to write off the
administration of Jonathan; and
•Second (or third) term aspiration of Jonathan
Investigation by The Nation revealed that Jonathan and
Obasanjo had been patching their relationship over the last
two years. Some months ago, Jonathan was said to have
confronted Obasanjo and accused the ex-president of
undermining him.
Jonathan, sources said, accused Obasanjo of supporting the
PDP G-7 governors. It was learnt that Obasanjo denied the
allegation and assured Jonathan of support.
The source added: "Obasanjo's disagreement with Jonathan
started from the ministerial nomination.
The ex-President sought input into nominations from the
South-West, but Jonathan restricted him to Ogun State. He
said Obasanjo could not single handed nominate ministers
from the South-West when there is a PDP structure in place.
"The ex-President was also not happy that the Jonathan
administration does not consult him on all policy issues,
decisions of the government and strategic appointments. The
ex-President felt the President had been hijacked by those he
did not want in government, "the source said.
One of those who allegedly "offended Obasanjo" in the past
was Secretary to Government of the Federation, Chief Anyim
Pius Anyim. His appointment was said to have been made
without consultation with Obasanjo.
When the matter was brought to Anyim's attention, he
personally went to meet Obasanjo to plead forgiveness for
whatever offence he might have committed. Obasanjo
reportedly told Anyim there was no quarrel.
The emergence of Bamanga Tukur as the National Chairman
of PDP and the attendant crisis in the party appeared to have
deepened the crack in the relationship between the two leaders, while the alleged hijack of the South-West PDP structure from Obasanjo, and given to alleged criminals, remains a big issues.
"But with anti-second term campaign for Jonathan, it was
strategically important for the PDP to restrict Obasanjo to his
only vote at the PDP National Convention for presidential
primaries than to allow him control the party structure and wreak havoc," one source said.
Several ex Generals are said to be angry with Jonathan but
they are allowing Obasanjo to speak because they are of the
believe that his words carry weight. Sources say more heat is
coming….
Comedy has helped me understand people more - Gbenga Adeyinka
Gbenga Adeyinka but today he is Gbenga Adeyinka 1st
GCON. He chats about critics, challenges, what it takes to be
a good comedian, why being an MC is more appealing to him
than being a comedian, why he left a full time job for comedy
and many more.
Can you give us a brief about your person?
Gbenga Adeyinka: Honestly, I don't know how to start this,
but I would simply put it this way. I was born Gbenga Adeyinka. I'm a typical Abeokuta man from Ogun State and
studied English on the campus of University of Lagos. I
worked briefly with my uncle's engineering firm before I
rediscovered myself in the world of arts. Thus, I rechristened
myself and became Gbenga Adeyinka 1st, afterwards, I
became Gbenga Adeyinka 1st CFR and now Gbenga
Adeyinka 1st GCON. I guess that sums it all up.
Describe yourself in three words
That I would say again is a hard task but if there were three
words to sum myself up, I would say, charismatic, God
fearing and eloquent.
Tell us about your experience on your first performance
on stage?
My first performance would actually be on the campus of
University of Lagos as a student but then it was simply just
one of those things and outside the campus, I would say my
appearance on TV, where I had to make an impressive
statement and you won't believe it but some of those I made
an impression on still call me for jobs till date.
How did comedy start for you?
Comedy for me is more like an everyday thing; I only discovered it on the campus of University of Lagos after
which I went professional. It's something that comes naturally
to me, I try not to force it because you don't make a lasting
impression. When it comes naturally, it's always a sterling
performance.
When did you know it was something you wanted to do in
life professionally?
I worked in my uncle's engineering firm after I left UNILAG,
but after a while, I felt I wasn't enjoying my job. It was the
regular 9-5 for me and I wanted more and that was when I
met Akin Akindele and later Tee A, the rest as they say is
history.
You have been in the industry for years now; what is the
best thing about your job?
The ability to make different individuals from different tribes
and walks of life listen to you, make you their focus, and get
their attention and at the end getting paid and commendation
for it.
As a comedian, what do you struggle for most in your
profession?
I doubt if there is a particular thing I struggle for. I'm talking
for and on behalf of Gbenga Adeyinka 1st GCON. I think if
there is, it would be the kingdom of God like everybody else.
People have the impression we struggle to be noticed in the
industry, but it is not true. We are as important and relevant as
any other segment in the industry.
Do you think performing comedy over the years has
helped you to better understand human nature, behavior,
or the way people work and think?
You have just asked a question that captures my experiences
since I started the art of comedy and majorly MC. I
understand people more, I know when someone wants to get
noticed, I know when people get over-zealous, I understand
government officials, politicians, elites, regular man on the
street, a housewife, a maid and quite a lot. I can tell you that
it is a topic I can discuss for over three hours and give various
examples from my experiences.
You are also a producer, special commentator and more.
So truly, you are a renaissance man. Which of these
¬interests means the most to you?
Renaissance you say…hmmm, okay oooh, na una talk am
oooh but you missed out one big part of me, MC. And I
would tell you for free that being MC interests me more
because as an MC, you can be a comedian, social and special
commentator all in one, but as a comedian, you can only be
asked to keep people laughing for few minutes.
After all these years in the limelight, how do you deal with
critics who always see comedians as no good?
Are they still individuals who see comedians and MC as no do
good people? I doubt if there is and if there is then they are
still living in the Stone Age. I mean in this era when people
urge their kids to sing, act, play football and do comedy
because such kids now bring glory to the family, someone
now comes out to say comedians are no good? Like I said, I
doubt if such people exist and if they do, it's only a pity.
What do you think is the most important challenge facing
comedians today in the society, especially Nigeria?
Lack of depth and inability to research and redefine your art
always. I'm not saying I'm the funniest in Nigeria, but I can
tell you an experience or an opportunity to see me in my
elements would sure leave an interesting and sweetened taste
in your memory. That said, I have also noticed that almost
anybody and everybody wants to be a comedian and that is
fine by me, but some of these young boys don't even have
good command of English. They so much depend on
delivering in pidgin, I'm not so against that either, but how do
you thrill guests in Soweto, Burkina Faso or Islington or New
York or Holland? To make a mark as a comedian in the industry, you have to have strong command of English
Language.
Do you feel you have got your due in the industry?
All I would say is I'm happy and content with where and what
God has done for me, I know he's taking me further.
If you were to advice those who aspire to develop their comic acts either through writing or performing, what would you say to them?
Get basic education first, it's important and paramount
because it would at the long run help you even if you become
the biggest in Nigeria. Be sure you are gifted, try out your
talent with audiences that range from your family members,
friends, school gathering, then you can pursue your dream to
the zenith.
We all know the importance of mentors and people whose
greatness inspires us. Who were your great motivators?
My mother, late Mrs. Adunni Adeyinka, Martin Luther King,
Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed
Tinubu.
You have so many wonderful things on your plate; what's
next for you? What comedy adventures do you plan for in
the near future?
I like bringing out things from the pack like a typical
magician, thus I like keeping things under wraps so it comes
as a surprise but one thing I've done over the years is my
popular annual comedy, arts and music festival jamboree
tagged, Laffmattazz with Gbenga Adeyinka 1st and friends
always expect that plus I'm coming to hit TV soon with an
unprecedented sitcom.
Tell us something we don't know about you.
I bet you don't know I fart…seriously, I bet you don't know
two of my children are in the University as we speak.
Who is your favorite comedian?
My greatest comedian of all time is Bill Cosby; he does it so
effortlessly you don't even differentiate his act from his art or
his real person.
Best piece of advice have you gotten?
Never give up on anything you do because if you have the
power to think it, you can achieve it and that was from my
late mum.
What is your motto in life?
Live and Let's live because In God we all trust.
Tell us about your most embarrassing moment on the job?
I have had quite a number but the most recent was in the
United Kingdom for the Nigerian Corner of the Nottinghill
Carnival and one of the performers, a female was dressed in
such attire that left me bewildered. While pondering what
convinced her to dress in such attire, a photographer caught
my gaze and many people wondered if I was actually looking
at something else.
What questions are you always asked and are tired of
answering?
Are you the Gbenga Adeyinka on TV?
Seriously!

Court dissolves 15-year-old marriage for lack of love, peace
Nasarawa State on Friday dissolved a 15-year-old marriage
between a disengaged staff of the defunct PHCN, Mr Tijani
Sani, 55, and his wife, Lare Audu, 35.
At the resumed hearing, Sani reiterated his wish for divorce as
he no longer has any love for the wife, adding that he would
not want to have anything to do with her again.
The wife did not object to the husband's desire in seeking for
divorce.
The presiding member of the court on Islamic matters, Malam
Danladi Musa, dissolved the marriage and told the man to
collect the divorce certificate from the court registrar's office.
"The husband has maintained his desire to be legally
separated from the wife to which she did not object.
"I hereby dissolved the marriage between Tijani Sani and
Lare Audu," Musa ruled.
He also ordered Sani to give Audu N5,000 for transport back
to her village and also to assist her in the upkeep of their two-
year-old daughter.
It would be recalled that on Dec. 4, Sani had prayed the court
to dissolve his marriage to Audu.
On that date, Sani, who resides at Ruga, near Gwagalape in
the FCT, told the court that their 15-year-old marriage, which
is blessed with five children, has never known peace.
"Our marriage was performed under Islamic injunction over
15 years ago and blessed with five children.
"I have already divorced her according to Islamic procedures,
but I only want the court to confirm the divorce.
"This will enable me to get someone better to marry," he said.
Sani also prayed the court to order the wife to pack out all her
belongings from his house.
Lami, in her response, said: "I want the court to help me beg
him to provide an accommodation for me, to enable me stay
and take care of our last child who is just two years.
"The child is sick; she has a heart problem and cannot walk
and I am suffering with the child. Presently, I am sleeping in a
container near his 10-room-block building.
The mother of five also said that she had nowhere to go,
because her parents who stay in Idah Local Government Area
(LGA) of Kogi are facing serious challenges.
"My parents are staying in Idah LGA of Kogi and the 2012
flood left them homeless.
"I have nowhere to go," she had pleaded.
