Twitter!! Dangote Shuns Saraki, Ribadu, Others

Barely 72 hours after Africa's richest man, Aliko
Dangote, joined the micro-blogging service, Twitter,
thousands of Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora
have extended a hand of fellowship to him by
subscribing to his tweets.
As at 5pm on Thursday, the President/Chief Executive of the pan-African conglomerate, the Dangote Group, had
attracted a followership of over 30,000 users on the social
network.
A check through his Twitter page shows that his followers
are not limited to ordinary Nigerians who make use of the
social service but include serving lawmakers in the National
Assembly, past public office holders, children of past
Nigerian leaders, as well as top shots in the nation's
entertainment industry.
Some of the high profile Nigerians following Africa's most
powerful man (as declared by Forbes magazine) include a
former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; former Governor of
Kwara State, and Senator representing Kwara Central
Senatorial District, Bukola Saraki; and Vice-Presidential
candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria in the
2011 general elections, Fola Adeola.
Others include a former Chief Executive Officer of the
United Bank for Africa, Tony Elumelu; daughter of late
military dictator, Sanni Abacha, Gumsu; artistes such as
Dare Art Alade, Dr. Sid, Rugged Man, and Weird MC,
among many others.
Surprisingly, despite the huge reception he received on
Twitter, Dangote has yet to deem it fit to reciprocate the
gesture by subscribing to the tweets of any of these
Nigerians following him on the social platform.
In fact, Dangote is not at present following any Nigerian on
Twitter, as he has signified preference for the tweets of a
few of his billionaire colleagues; his manufacturing
conglomerate, Dangote Group; the World Economic Forum
and the Kofi Annan Foundation.
The billionaires Dangote follows on the social network
include the former Chief Executive Officer of General
Electric Corp., Jack Welch; Chairman of the world's largest
personal-computer software company, Microsoft, Bill
Gates; and Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of General
Electric, Jeff Immelt.
Dangote's decision not to follow any Nigerian is very much
unlike some prominent Nigerians who make use of Twitter.
For instance, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, who
follows only 26 people on the social network, deemed it fit
to follow some Nigerians.
Although Atiku subscribes to the tweets of foreigners such
as South African President Jacob Zuma, he did not lose
sight of prominent Nigerian users of the social service. As
such, Atiku follows the likes of Lagos State Governor,
Babatunde Fashola; former Minister of Education, Oby
Ezekwesili, as well as entertainers such as Don Jazzy and
Ice Prince.
Meanwhile, Dangote has broken his silence online, saying
he is "glad" to make use of Twitter. In his first and only
tweet, he gave a word of encouragement to many Nigerians
who have been asking him for advice on business success
saying, "nothing is impossible" to those who pursue their
dreams with commitment.
"Glad to be on Twitter. Wishing you all a prosperous New
Year. Stay positively committed to achieving your dreams,
nothing is impossible," Dangote said in his first tweet.
However, it is worthy of note that with his decision to sign
up for Twitter on December 31, Dangote joined the league
of eminent clerics, businessmen and world leaders who
signed up for the social service in 2013.
They include Pope Francis; the 41st President of the United
States of America, George W. Bush; 42nd President of the
United States, Bill Clinton; former US Secretary of State,
Hillary Clinton; American business magnate and investor,
Warren Buffet, among others.
Pope Francis, who was elected in 2013 to lead the world's
1.6 billion Catholics, became a social media star of some
kind when he began tweeting on March 17. His first tweet
stated, "Dear friends, I thank you from my heart and I ask
you to continue to pray for me. Pope Francis." The tweet
was reposted by 36,528 people, while 22,304 others
favourited it.
On December 10, when Bush joined Twitter, he used his
first message to pay tribute to anti-apartheid icon, Nelson
Mandela. He wrote, "Barbara (his wife) and I wish we
could have joined the US delegation honouring President
Mandela today. He, and his countrymen, are in our
prayers."
Also, US President Barack Obama reached out to Bill
Clinton and Buffet who both joined Twitter within days of
each other in May. "Welcome to Twitter, @BillClinton and
@WarrenBuffett," Obama wrote in a Twitter post.

Cult clashes leave 6 people dead in Edo

About 6 people have been feared dead in some parts of
Benin City in Edo State within the last 3 days, as a result
of clashes between rival cults, believed to be the Eiye and
Aiye (Black Axe) confraternities.

It was gathered that the cult war started near Oba Market,
over issues of ticketing members of a task force, alleged to
have been engaged by the state government.

Another group in the same area, is also believed to have
been engaged by the Oredo Council. Both groups are said
to have belonged to rival cults.

One of the dead, it was gathered, had just rounded off his
Master's Degree programme from the University of Benin,
while a community leader from Iyowha area, near the
Nigerian Institute for Oil Palm Research (NIFOR), has
reported that six persons were missing in the area.
In another development, suspected hoodlums attacked a
reporter with The Nation newspaper in the state, Ben
Ogbemudia, along Eke Street, near St Saviour, Upper
Sokponba Road, Benin City.

According to Ogbemudia, on Monday evening, at about
7.30 pm, he had parked his car along the street where he
had gone to see his family before the New Year's Eve
activities.

In no time, his suspected assailants, comprising three men
whom he identified as Emwanta, Adult and Osaretin,
roared to a stop in a Nissan marked Edo DGE 382 AA,
and attacked him, inflicting deep machete cuts on the
upper arm of his left hand.

He was later rushed to a private clinic where the cut were
stitched and later reported the incident at the St Saviour
Police Station.

When contacted yesterday, the Edo State police public
relations officer (PPRO), DSP Moses Eguavoen, said that
he was expecting a brief from the district police officers in
the affected areas.

Aregbesola, Omisore trade words over worship centre

Former Deputy governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola
Omisore has described the proposed building of an
Interdenominational Worship Centre by the state government
as an attempt to siphon taxpayers' money.

But in a swift reaction, Director of Publicity of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi dismissed
the allegations as unfounded.

Omisore also called on the Rauf Aregbesola led
administration to reverse the new education policy rather than
embarking on the project.

Omisore said this in a statement by his Director of Media and
Strategy, Prince Diran Odeyemi, that, "The proposed worship centre is an attempt to siphon taxpayers' money with no genuine concern for the welfare of the people of the state.

" It would have been more honourable for the government to
admit mistake and reverse the new education policy which is
causing confusion in the state than erecting an
interdenominational centre to hoodwink the Christian
community who are opposed to his disposition towards them."

He said: "As a governor that claims to believe in equality
among all religions, my concern is about how much the
government will have to spend to erect mosques and shrines
for our Muslim brothers and "Isese" people when the people
of the state are wallowing in abject poverty."

…Omisore unfit to speak — Osun APC

In a telephone chat with Vanguard, Mr. Oyatomi said: "How
can you use the building of an inter-denominational worship
centre to siphon money?

"Omisore cannot comment on what is happening in the state
because he is not even the candidate of the party. If
Aregbesola is not building the worship centre, they will say he
is Islamising the state. Most renowned Christian clerics hail
from this state and for your information, the plan for the
building of the worship centre did not start today.

"Aregbesola is unlike them because for 90 months, they
wrecked the economy of this state when they were in
government. Every kobo that Rauf has earned, in the last 36
months, he has put to use judiciously.

"Rauf Aregbesola is above board and siphoning is just their
own language because that is what they do. On the school
reclassification policy he said: "Does Omisore want us to
leave the schools in the sorry state they left if? God forbid!"

Photo: Reminisce And Vector End Long Time Beef

The two rappers had beef for a long time, and actually made diss tracks for each other. Reminisce made two or three diss tracks for Vector, while Vector made one indirectly dissing Reminisce. Heard the beef started after Vector made a song with Saucekid and said something in the track Reminisce thought was for him, so made a diss track for Vector.

Anyway, all that is in the past as they met and reconciled at
an album launch where they both went to perform on 30th
December in Uyo. Heard they will be getting into the studio
sometime soon to do a song together. 2014 year of reconciling

Miley Cyrus Disses Beyonce In New Interview; Says She’s Old Blood

Read what Miley Cyrus says

"Beyonce has been a big inspiration to me but she's been out for such a long time. She's so talented and I think she's at the
top of the game now but people are always looking for new
blood and that's what I bring to the game now, new blood…

I got the total package you know, the curves, the rhythm, and
the voice. I'm just the best. As Beyoncé grows in motherhood
and all the crap it does to your body, it will create a vacuum
for fresh young faces to rise up and no one else can properly
fill that void right now. I'm the only white female singer that
could fill that slot right now and do it right, you know?"

I just feel like I was born for this time right now. I'm just the
total package, you know?.All things must start and end and I
hope to have the same success as other icons in the
game when my run is over. But for now, my run is just
starting."...

Woman Slumps And Dies While Testifying In Church On New Year Day

Tragedy struck in Umuogwuta, Ndegwu, Owerri West local council area of Imo State, as a lady who was giving her testimony during the New Year service suddenly collapsed and died.

A villager, who spoke on ground of anonymity, said: "The Lagos-based lady, Ifeoma Anozie, collapsed and died while giving her testimony inside Saint John's Anglican Church, Ndegwu."

It was also gathered that Ifeoma returned to her country
home not to only give testimony about her achievements in
the passing year, but also felicitate with her kith and kin.

"The lady had hardly commenced her testimony when she
suddenly slumped and died in front of the officiating cleric
and left the congregation completely perplexed," the
villager said.

Speaking also on the issue, a woman who simply identified
herself as Felicia, lamented that what ordinarily should
have been a double celebration for the Anozie family
suddenly turned sour.

"The church service was designed to be a double
celebration for the Anozie family. It, however, turned out to
be a tragedy for the family, the church and Ndegwu
community," Felicia lamented.

Other villagers that also spoke to Vanguard, said ifeoma
was a very promising young lady but none could guess she
would die untimely.

The cause of death could not be ascertained as no member
of the immediate family could be reached for comments.
However, the remains of the lady had been deposited in an
undisclosed hospital morgue.

I Don’t Need A Husband- Bimbo Akintola Cries Out

Since hitting the limelight in a big way with 'Out of Bounds"
alongside RMD in the 90s, Bimbo Akintola has become a big
name who does things in a big way. You don't approach her
with your scripts unless you have big plans about it.

Controversial, some might say, but Bimbo describes herself as
easy-going but definitely not when falsehoods have been
peddled about her as a story running wide that she is in
desperate need of a husband.

She ran into our reporter on Boxing Day in Lekki where she
was part of the humanitarian institution who put together an
Xmas party for some orphanages. There, she opens up on
several issues concerning her. Excerpts:

Why did you decide to party with the kids?

Heart of Gold Hospice, that's why. There was Compassionate
Children's Home, there was Heart of Gold Hospice and one
other one here today. But it's actually because of Heart of
Gold, I go to Heart of Gold on and off. I have been going
there over the years and it's heartbreaking when you go there
and you see those children, it's not just a regular orphanage,
it's a hospice. And what Aunty, the woman who runs the
place does is that she makes sure they get the surgery they
need to stay alive. It's amazing, you need to go there and see
for yourself what it's all about.

What do you hope to achieve at the end of the day?

What I want to do at the end of the day is to raise money for
this orphanages, especially the hospice, they need money
because these children go for surgeries regularly, you can see
that some of the children that came here today have special
needs.

You are doing more of Yoruba movies these days than
English movies compared to your early days in acting, why is
that so?

I do English movies when I see good scripts. Hoodrush was in
the cinemas this year. Next year one or two will be in the
cinemas.

Are you working on any project at the moment?

I just finished Golden Penny Pasta Children's Kitchen, I
anchored that. Right now, I'm on break, finally.

Besides acting, what else do you do?

I do all kinds of stuff. I anchor shows, I do contracts for
documentaries and safety videos for companies. I do all kinds
of stuff.

When did you actually start acting?

I can't even remember. I'm so old that I can't remember. I
think it's almost twenty years.

What was the experience like, the first time you were on set?

I was too excited to feel anything else. I was just a bundle of
excitement. For me, it was great fun.

What motivated you to go into acting?

That's what I've always wanted to do with my life, especially
when I realised that it could be a profession. I went to the
University of Ibadan and studied Theatre Arts and then I
started acting.

How did you start?

While I was at school, I used to do stage plays and then a
friend of mine said, "Oh, Ola Fanni Kayode is doing a serial
on TV" and I should look in for someone to take a particular
part and I said "Okay, I'll go for the audition", and so I went
for the audition, if you could call it an audition, because I
went, saw her, talked to her and she was like "The part is
yours". That was it. That was how I started.

So far, how has the experience been?

It's been good and bad. I'm doing what I'm passionate about,
what I like doing, so that gives a lot of joy and happiness. But
one of the things I find most damaging about being an actor is
the press, I have to say it. It's like they have no idea about
how damaging some of the things they write about people can
be.

There are a lot of things happening in the industry, if you
want to write stories, write the truth, don't go forming stories
or listen to someone's stupid idea that has no root in reality
and put it in the paper as front page news. I think that's the
most irresponsible action anyone can take. You should know
that some of these things do affect people's lives.

I'm lucky in the sense that my family understands that my
work is different from me. They understand that I don't listen
to gossips and I call anything that is written without a foundation of truth, gossip – total gossip! My friends understand, people who know me understand the kind of
person I am, so they don't even talk to me about such things
when they read about it on paper, and I'm lucky in that
regard.

But I know my colleagues who have been adversely affected by some of the things that have been printed about them all in the name of selling their papers. You want to sell your papers and forget that human lives are more important than making money. It's the height of ridicule.

That's the worst part of being an actor. For me, I believe the press and actors have a role to play in each other's lives. The stories you write are about us, we are there for you as well, because we need you when we are doing stuffs that is important to us for publicity. It should be a symbiotic relationship, we are supposed to feed from each other. But when you have people out there who are out to damage you, you don't want to work with them.

So,what is the worst rumour you've heard about yourself?
Oh, that I'm looking for a husband, that I'm desperate for a
husband. That's the worst I've heard and that's the latest one.

I'm not looking for a husband and I don't need one.

You don't need one?

I don't need anything. I'm a complete person. I only do things
that make me happy, because I believe and I understand the
reality that this is just one life and you should live it to the
maximum, happiness and peace should be the key. I'm not
searching for a husband, because the rumour that I'm
searching for a husband has given me wahala,- all kinds of
people from left, right and centre, looking for me saying they
want to marry me. Please, I'm using this opportunity to tell
everybody, I am not looking for a husband!

Can you name some of the awards you've received?
Oh, my God! They are so many, most of them are from
organisations here and there.

How do you handle your fans?

I love my fans, without my fans who would I be? Nobody!
The fans make you who you are. It's because they find
something in you that they like, that they clique with, that's
why you're in demand, that's why you have such followership. So I am very humbled by my fans.

How would you describe your person?

I'm really very easy. I'm an easy-going person, everything
about me is easy. I believe in certain things and I live my life
by those things, namely; Truthfulness – It's important to me, I
believe we must have principles because that's what
differentiates us from animals. Kindness is very important, if
you're not kind, we can't be friends.

It's not just kindness to people who don't have, it's kindness
to every human being that you meet. It is important, if we say
we are God's children and God is love and he sent his son to
die for our sins, then we should at least try and emulate him in
loving everyone that comes around us, by showing love to
each and every one. Everyone that comes near you should be
touched by you.

Are you fulfilled as an actress?

I am very fulfilled.

No regrets?

No regrets whatsoever. I'm doing what I want to do. I'm
excited.

What's your advice to aspiring actresses?

Please, if you want to be an actor, first and foremost, go to
school, because that will show you if you have talent or not.

Go try it out , go study Theatre Arts or Performing Arts. Go
and major in acting. Get the basic background, so you know
you have a lot more to say.

Are you in a relationship?

Yes, I am. But I don't talk about my relationships.

Rivers Assembly Majority Leader, Chidi Lloyd, Arrested For Murder

The Rivers State Police Command said it had arrested the Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Mr. Chidi Lloyd, for the alleged murder of his kinsman, Mr. Kingsley Ejeuo and a police sergeant, Urang Obediah.

A statement made on Thursday night indicated that Lloyd was purportedly arrested on his way to join the state Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, in his private jet in order to escape justice.

The statement sent via e-mail by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ahmad Mohammad, specified that Lloyd knocked down Obediah while pursuing Ejeuo, identified to be his political opponent.

Lloyd, who was still standing trial for his involvement in the fracas that took place in the State House on July 9, 2013, was said to have rammed into Ejeuo's Passat car with a bulletproof vehicle and killed him (Ejeo).

The police command pointed out that it had initially thought it was an auto accident until Lloyd relocated to another hospital, "conscious of what he did."

"The Rivers State Police Command has arrested Hon. Chidi Llyod of the Rivers State House of Assembly for murder of police Sgt. Urang Obediah and Mr. Kingsley Ejeuo, his kinsman and arch political opponent.

"He was arrested on his way to join Governor Amaechi Rotimi in his private jet at the Airforce base to escape justice.

"Hon. Chidi Lloyd on December 30, 2013 while pursing his political opponent, knocked down Sgt. Urang Obediah, in spite of his effort to stop him, rammed and killed him and went ahead to crush the Passat car of Mr. Kingsley Ejeuo was driving and killed him.

"Initially the Police thought that it was a mere accident, which ought to have been a manslaughter. The Commissioner of Police directed ACP Aliyu Garba, the Area Commander Metro, to visit him in his hospital bed and commiserate with him, conscious of what he did, Chidi Lloyd relocated to another hospital.

"Facts emerged that Chidi Lloyd drove a bullet-proof vehicle while pursuing his political opponent, late Mr. Kingsley Ejeuo, and he (Lloyd) knocked down Sgt. Urang Obediah, who died on the spot and (Lloyd) moved ahead to smash a political opponent in his Passat car who equally died instantly," the statement reads.

The statement added that late Ejeuo, who hailed from the same place with Lloyd was believed to be in the PDP camp led by Elder Felix Obuah.

The statement also indicated that the Leader of the House allegedly escaped from the hospital where he was being guarded by four policemen.

However, a top government official told our correspondent that the claim by the police that Lloyd tried to join Amaechi in his (Amaechi) private jet in order to escape justice was a blatant lie.

It will be recalled that Lloyd, who presented himself to the Nigeria Police after a video clip showed him hitting a member of the House of Assembly, Mr. Michael Chinda, with a mace on the head, was charged to court on a six-count charge, including attempted murder.

Lloyd was later granted bail in order to receive medical attention after sustaining injury during the July 9, 2013 free-for-all in the chambers of the State House of Assembly.

Breakthrough Deliverance Ministry, also known as Land of
Solution, located at Plot 7, Koya Estate, Igbo Olomu, Agric,
Ikorodu, Lagos from where he and other suspects were
arrested. The "pastor" hails from Imo State.

Pastor Akubuiro, who openly admitted the crime before
reporters, said he was "an ordained man of God" until the
devil overwhelmed him.

Kogi State Director of State Security Service (SSS) Mike
Fubara, who paraded the suspects, said six of them are Pastor
Godson Akubuiro's children.

Items recovered from them include equipment and materials

support of the less-privileged and the needy in his
congregation.

He pleaded for leniency, saying men of God were often
tempted like King David in the Bible, who though a man after
God's heart, fell many times yet was pardoned by God.

Nigerian Lady Opens Up On Having S*x With Her Brothers

Read the lady's story below…

A lot of us have slept with our brother/sister while growing
up. For me, I was disvirginéd at the age of 5 by my uncle.
After that, I started sleeping with my brother cause of the
urge and when my uncle left for secondary school, I slept
with my brother till I was in SS1 (when I realised that what
I was doing is wrong).

Though then, my brother would still make moves trying to
seduce me – for example he walks around the house with
his manhood eréct or saying words like "if you want us to
do it am ready".

He is now a séx addict and carries ashawo and gals around.
I know it's all my fault and don't know how to help him. I
also spoke to him that I know what I did is wrong but I
have asked the Lord to forgive me and help my brother too.
This happens in homes mostly where the parents are not
always around. I want to have kids too and I don't want the
same thing happening to them. Please help me prevent and
control this.

I know I am not the only child this happened to; it was
common in the 1980′s and 1990′s cos some parents use
maids and relatives to take care of their kids and the
"helpers" use the kids as séx experiment.
But how can we prevent this generation from suffering the
same thing?
