Accidents on Benin-Ore Expressway caused by robbery, says FRSC

Benin – The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Edo, on
Monday said the multiple accidents involving six trucks were
caused by armed robbery at KM 33 on the Benin-Ore
Expressway on Saturday night.
The FRSC Toll Gate Unit Commander, Mr Adewale Ameen,
however, said in Benin on Monday that no one died in the
accidents.
Ameen said six trucks involved in the accident were however
burnt. "As I speak with you, the fire is still raging and our
men are there controlling traffic.
"The robbery caused a container to fall across the road. Two
other unsuspecting trucks got to the scene and rammed into
the container.
"The unfortunate thing was that a truck laden with 33 litres of
petrol rammed into the other trucks and caught fire.
"We have blocked the Ore side of the express way and
diverted traffic to the Benin lane.
"We appeal to motorists from the Lagos axis to go through
Ogbemudia farms'', he said.
