Jill Scott no longer coming for Lagos Jazz Series 2013

US singer Jill Scott will NOT be attending or performing at
this year's Lagos Jazz Series as earlier announced.
A statement by organizers says her cancellation is 'due to
unavoidable schedule conflicts'. The Grammy Award
winning artiste who is currently on tour was scheduled to
headline the fourth edition of the event alongside jazz
guitarist Pat Metheny who also isn't coming.
Interestingly, Jill Scott who just wrapped up a show in
Sydney, Australia yesterday (November 25) was still
retweeting her upcoming Lagos November 28 performance
in Lagos 16 hours ago. Sources say organizers and Scott's
team could not reach an agreeable performance fee.
Only few days ago, US-born Nigerian rapper cancelled a
planned trip to Nigeria at the last minute, following Visa
and ticket issues. He was to perform at rapper Ice Prince's
album concert.
Marcus Miller who was previously announced as a
supporting act for the shows has now been made the show's
new headliner. He will be performing alongside Ghana's
Efya, Brooklyn-based afrobeat band Antibalas, South
African groups Ndubuzo and Mi Casa, Nigerian rappers
Black Magic, M.I, Olamide, Phyno, Show Dem Camp
and a few others.
The Lagos Jazz Series 2013 starts Thursday, November 28,
2013 and will run till Sunday, December 1, 2013.
