Celebrities, world leaders salute Mandela on social media

Johannesburg – Celebrities and world leaders on Monday
continued to honour late South African President Nelson
Mandela, using social media platforms `twitter' and
`facebook'.

The legendary British comedian, Eddie Izzard, who recently
tried to run 27 marathons in 27 days to commemorate
Mandela, tweeted that Mandela "might be the greatest person
that has ever lived".

Helen Zille, leader of South Africa's official opposition
Democratic Alliance (DA), told her twitter followers she had
lit a candle in a Cape Town room.

The room was where Mandela spent the night putting together
his first cabinet in 1994.

Former U.S. President Bill Clinton displayed a photograph of
himself holding hands with Mandela, saying "I will never
forget my friend Madiba".

For his part, Gary Player, South Africa's most famous golfer,
said "Father of the South African Nation, Nelson Mandela,
Madiba we loved you, Rest in Peace".

Also, British Prime Minister, David Cameron, posted a tweet
saying the Union Jack flag and the South African flag are
flying at half mast above No. 10, Downing Street.
The television icon, Piers Morgan, used his twitter account to
note that the world has lost an iconic leader.
"South Africa's lost its very soul – my deepest condolences to
those wonderful people".
