All Progressive Congress (APC) leader and chieftain of Ondo State, Pa Akerele Adu died in the late hours of January 15, 2014, Wednesday. He was 84 years old.
This has been confirmed by his son, Babatunde Adu, but further details are currently not available.
According to SaharaReporters, the late APC leader died at the Ofafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, from an age-related illness.
Pa Adu was a former Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resource in Ondo State during Governor Adebayo Adefarati administration.
He is remembered for playing a vital role in ensuring the mergers of various political parties, without too much conflict, under the APC.
He was also former state chair of the defunct Alliance for Democracy, which later merged with the Action Congress of Nigeria, now part of the APC in Ondo State.
Pa Akerele Adu was born in Ijare, Ifedore, Adu was known for his grassroots mobilization and politics for the ACN.
He is survived by his wife, many children and grandchildren.
