On February 15 2014, Oloruntoba Oluwadamilola Falode, a 19 year old Nigerian student based in Dubai and the only son of AIT Sports broadcaster and Confederation of African Football (CAF) executive, Aisha Falode, tragically passed away.
There were conflicting media reports on the true cause of his death and it has been a very difficult time for the Falode family. His supposed friends claimed that Toba fell while sitting on the railing of a balcony, and as a result the case was closed without an extensive investigation.
So far, Aisha has not been able to have access to the official records, but she is certain, there is more to the story. In a chat with Sahara TV over the weekend, she
disputed her son being alone at the time of his death.
She also stated that that her son's room mate who was also in the apartment at the time of the incident was a potential suspect.
According to Aisha, her son had tried to settle a dispute between two of his room mates including his supposed girlfriend and they all went into a room together.
When the other 2 room mates emerged (without Toba), they were distressed and the suspect had blood on his clothes and shoes, in addition, he had blood on his knuckles. She also added that her son's body was found too far away from the building for a fall and it is more likely that he was pushed.
Aisha pleaded that due to the judicial system in Dubai, in order for the case file to be viewed, the Nigerian government needs to intervene.
