Jos bomb attacks very cruel and saddening – IGP

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Mohammed Abubakar, on Wednesday visited the Jos bombing scenes and declared that the Federal Government was fully committed to ending terrorism in the country.

Abubakar, who also visited some injured persons at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, described the bomb attacks as "very cruel and saddening".

"Mr President is deeply saddened by this callous act; we have a responsibility as a government agency to ensure that the incident is thoroughly investigated.

"We will do everything humanly possible to unmask those behind the act and bring them to justice.

"We are here to convey the condolences of Mr President to the government and people of Plateau and also assure them of his commitment toward providing security.

"We also want to assure the people of Mr President's commitment toward ending terrorism," he said.

The IGP commended the Plateau Government's efforts in the fight against insurgency and promised to continue to work with the state to tackle the menace.

He also commended security agencies in the state for their excellent handling of the incident immediately after it happened and encouraged them to sustain that attitude.
