Lagos – A 56-year-old man, Adebayo Ajibode, on Wednesday urged an Alakuko Customary Court in Lagos to dissolve his 30-year-old marriage to Bosede because of his wife's alleged fetism.
Adebayo, a mechanic, who lives at Alakuko, a suburb of Lagos, prayed the court to dissolve his marriage to Bosede for her negligence of her matrimonial duties.
He told the court that his wife would go out in the morning and return at night, and has failed to perform her duties as expected of a housewife.
"I wanted to have my bath, but surprisingly I saw a charm under the bucket, when I called my wife she couldn't say a word, then I knew I had to be watchful.
"Sixteen years ago, I wanted to make love to her, I saw an incision on her chest, I couldn't go further because I knew it connoted bad omen.
"Since then, I haven't made love to her, also I see cobwebs in front of my bedroom door, each morning I wake up," he said.
Adebayo also told the court that his wife allegedly killed his neighbour's son after a fight with the mother and also allegedly killed one of his children another woman had for him.
The petitioner and father of three, aged between 25 and 30, told the court that his wife had married out two of his daughters without his knowledge and that he hadn't seen them for five years.
"Living with her is hell, I don't want to lose my life, I want a divorce before she kills me," he said.
However, the respondent, Abosede, 51, a house wife, told the court that she had nothing to say.
The court president, Chief Godwin Awosola, said the respondent fought with the bailiff who gave her the court summon and also torn the summon paper.
"That is contempt of court, in view of this, you will sweep the court and the environment for one hour," he said.
He also ordered the respondent to vacate the room she is staying in her husband's house with immediate effect.
Awosola adjourned the case to July 1 for judgment. (NAN)
