CAN commences 3 days fasting, prayer for release of Chibok girls

Maiduguri- The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Borno, on Friday commenced three-day fasting and prayer for the release of 200 abducted Chibok schoolgirls and victims of Boko Haram insurgency in the State.

Rev. Titus Pona, the State Chairman of the association announced this in Maiduguri.

He said the fasting and prayer became necessary in view of the high trend of insurgent attacks in rural areas in the state.
The cleric stressed the need for special prayers for God's intervention for the release of the girls.

"I urge you to intensify prayer and fasting so that God will give us the lasting solution to the killings and kidnapping across the north east.

"I urge you to remain resolute in prayer for lasting solution to the security challenge in the country'', said Pona.
He advised that religion should not be used to commit devilish acts or promote selfish interest. (NAN)
