Ekiti Election: Jonathan Boosts Fayose Campaign In Ado Ekiti


Jonathan Fayose MuazuThe President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, has stressed the need for free and fair elections, come June 21, 2014 in the Ekiti State governorship polls.

Speaking during the official presentation of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) flag to the governorship candidate, Ayodele Fayose, the President assured the people of the state of adequate security during the June 21 Ekiti State governorship election.

Barely two weeks to the governorship election proper in the state, the PDP candidate's campaign got a major boost with the visit of the President and key officials of the party.

At the rally in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, where Ayodele Fayose was formally presented to supporters as the party's flag bearer, President Jonathan called for total avoidance of thuggery and other electoral malpractices.

He also expressed optimism that his party, the PDP,  would win the June 21 election, as the crowd that trooped out to welcome his entourage at the Akure Airport as he drove to Ado-Ekiti showed that the party had genuine supporters whose votes would matter at the polls.

The Senate President, David Mark, in his remarks, urged the people not to panic as the flag bearer of the party; Ayodele Fayose was now a changed person.

Addressing the party members, Ayodele Fayose pledged a total commitment to the people when elected to office as the Governor of the state.

He advised the Governor Kayode Fayemi-led APC government to start planning its exit from office, as he was ready for victory in the June 21 poll.

Among other leaders present at the rally were the PDP BoT Chairman, Chief Tony Anenih, Vice-President Namadi Sambo, and the PDP National Chairman, Adamu Muazu.
