Photos: Jada Pinkett Smith Posts A Nude On Facebook

There's always a lively debate whenever a celebrity poses nude. While some may find nudity to be offensive and something that should be kept behind closed doors, others view the naked body as a work of art and a form of expression. One of those people who feel that way is Jada Pinkett Smith.

After baring it all in the "Nada Se Compara (Nothing Compares)" video for Salma Hayek's Don't Sell Bodies campaign against human trafficking in 2012, the actress has once again gone nude.

This week, Jada shared a black and white image of herself in the nude with her followers, which she captioned:

The human body is beauty, art, creativity, expression, a vessel for the soul, our temple and a magnificent machine. We gotta take care of it. Love on your body today. It's thee only body you got;)
Happy Saturday:)

LeToya Luckett Reveals Her Insecurities In Rolling Out Magazine

That auburn bob is a good look for LeToya Luckett!

The Single Ladies star is currently shining bright as the new cover girl for Rolling Out Magazine shot by celebrity photographer DeWayne Rogers!  Inside, she opens up about serious self-esteem issues that prevented her from showing off certain body parts, as well as the effects of social media on celebrities' confidence.  She also speaks on the younger generation of women who find validation in showing off their goodies on the 'gram for a few likes.

Catch a few highlights below:

On her self-image issues
I had things about myself that I [didn't] like. I [would always say] 'I wish I had this, I wish I had that.' I used to have this thing about my legs. If you look at all of the Destiny's Child albums from when I was a part of the group, you never saw me in a skirt. I was always the one who wore the pants, because I felt like my legs were too skinny.[...]You want your boobs to grow; you want all kind of things to happen," she says, with a laugh. "Eventually things fill out — and sometimes they fill out too much!"

On how being in the spotlight just makes you more aware of your imperfections
"People like to pick at your imperfections and that can be very hard on you as a person. I think a lot of times people forget that we're human beings and some of us are fighting self-esteem issues already," she continues. "I love Instagram and Twitter and I think it's awesome that fans can connect with their favorite artists, but it also gives them a chance in that comment box to say what they really feel about them. Be confident in who you are and who God made you to be. I can't pay attention to it. I'd go crazy out here."

On relationships
"I don't think I'm a control freak. Of course, you don't want to get your heart broken. But you can't control other people. If you're in a relationship, trying to control that other person — you're going to be wasting your time. I learned a long time ago that you can't control what somebody is going to do to you, but you can control how you react."

On the younger generation of women who feel like they need to show it all to get a man
"With the younger gals now, because certain things are being celebrated, they feel they have to show certain things to be appreciated or liked by men," says Luckett.

"I don't think I ever found myself being tempted to just go crazy with it. I was dealing with self-esteem issues. I didn't even wanna show my legs, let alone my butt and all of my goodies! There's a certain time for that and only this many people should be lucky to see it: You, Jesus and a couple of other folks, but not the entire world. If you're going to do it, let it mean something. Make a statement. Make it stand for something. Not just to be posing on your bathroom sink, doing a selfie with [your] stuff out!

You can catch LeToya starring alongside Taraji P. Henson in the new movie "From The Rough" when it's released on April 25.

How DPO raped me in detention—Sales girl

Trouble is brewing at a police division, Lagos Island following claims by a mother of two that she was raped by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, while in detention at the station.

The 31-year-old Beninoise, identified as Idowu Akinwunmi, works as a sales girl in a restaurant on Keffi Road, in Ikoyi area of the state.

She was reportedly picked by some policemen from Onikan division, following a complaint lodged by her boss, one Mrs Pelumi Idowu, over an undisclosed reason, at about 1 am. She said she was thrown into the cell on reaching the station.

However, at about 10 pm, Akinwunmi said one Inspector Ajiduwe called her out of the cell and took her to the DPO's office, where she alleged that the station's boss forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

According t o her, "He, the DPO, made love to me without a condom, saying he would throw me into prison if I mention the incident to anyone."

Refund of N10,000 bail

Aside that, she also alleged that the Investigating Police Officer, IPO, collected  N10,000 from her for bail before she was released. Akinwunmi told members of the Network on Police Reform in Nigeria, NOPRIN, that she had been having severe abdominal pain sincere the intercourse.

Although the DPO denied raping the detainee, when NOPRIN inquired from him, he reportedly called the man who stood surety for Akinwunmi to come for a refund of the N10,000 bribe for bail they extorted from her after allegedly raping her.

NOPRIN condemns

The National Coordinator, NOPRIN, Mr Okechukwu Nwanguma who condemned the rape, said:
"NOPRIN condemns the attempt by some police officers at Area A Command, Lion Building to block the victim from lodging a complaint of the rape with the Area Commander and collecting a police report to go for medical examination." At the command level, Vanguard gathered that the state command frowned at the allegation and had commenced investigation to ascertain the DPO's alleged culpability. If found guilty, the DPO, said to have put in about 25 years in service, would face disciplinary action. Already, the Command's boss, Umar Manko, had reportedly summoned the parties involved to the command for  interrogation as at 3 pm, yesterday. Spokesperson for the command, Ngozi Braide, however, could not state whether the allegation was true or false but told Vanguard that investigation at the end of the day would prove that, adding: "It is an allegation and we are taking it very serious."   How I was raped — Akinwunmi Narrating her ordeal, Akinwunmi,  told Vanguard: "I was arrested because my madam told the police that I allowed one Friday, a customer pass the night in the restaurant. Two relatives of one of the tailors employed by my madam who came on a visit were also arrested. "I am from Cotonou in Benin Republic. I am a mother of two and I have been working for Ms Pelumi for about 10 months now. I have done nothing to deserve this kind of treatment. Is it because I am a foreigner that I would be abused without protection? Nigerians should give me justice.
I demand justice for this wrong that has been done to me. "While at the station, I pleaded with one of the police women to allow me take my bath since I have not been allowed to do so since I was arrested and she agreed. "On my way to the bathroom, I met the DPO for the first time. He asked if I was Idowu and I said yes. He then asked why I chose to violate my boss' rules and I told him it was a mistake. "At about 10pm, one Inspector Ajiduwe took me out of the cell to the DPO, apparently for debriefing on the case.
"Immediately the Inspector left the office, the DPO started touching me. When I asked him to stop, he said my boss said they should do anything they liked to me. "He threatened to shoot me and send me and those arrested with me to jail, if I refused to allow him make love to me and that he would release all of us if I gave in. "He, thereafter, took me into the inner room in his office. I began to plead with him to use a condom but he refused and forced himself on me . "When he finished, he told me to wash myself in the bathroom which I did. After that, he sent me back to the cell, with a promise that I would be released. "But when my relatives came to effect our bail, they paid N30,000 for five of us. As we were going, the DPO scribbled his number on a piece of paper and gave to me. "Immediately I left, my relatives took me to the Island Maternity for the necessary medical tests."

Ritualist beheads two-yr-old boy, rapes mother in Ogun

ABEOKUTA —A suspected ritualist, yesterday,  beheaded a two-year-old boy and raped his mother in a bush in Ofada town  in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The suspect,  Momodu  Bashir Ibrahim, was said to have trailed the mother, who had her boy strapped on her back, as she  went to  ease herself in a bush in the area.

An eye witness told Vanguard that the victim went into a nearby bush to ease herself, not suspecting that she was being trailed.

According  to the source, the suspect suddenly pounced on the woman, dragged her along with her baby into an uncompleted building and raped her.
"The suspect after raping the woman, stabbed her and  killed the boy before he severed his head.

"Luckily, someone, who suspected the suspect's  movement, trailed him to the building but escaped and was able to rescue the woman with the headless body of the boy," the source said.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi   said the suspect was arrested through the help of some community leaders after he  fled the area to Ibafo after committing the crime.

Adejobi added that further interrogation of the suspect revealed that he had sold the head of the boy to a woman in Ibadan, adding that the detectives from the state police command was on the trail of the  suspected buyer  and that the command had commenced investigation into the matter.

The suspect  led men from the Criminal Investigation Department of the state police command to the scene and the knife with which he perpetrated  the act was  the only item found  at the scene.

Speaking at the scene of the crime which was smeared with blood, the suspect confessed to  have raped the woman, killed her son and severed his head which he said he had thrown away into the bush.

He also informed the detectives that there was a woman in Ibadan whom he was working with.

Efforts by the detectives to recover the head of the boy at the scene of the crime, as claimed by the suspect, proved abortive and an attempt to lynch him by the people of the area was prevented by the police.

It was learnt that the remains of the boy has been buried while the mother was responding to treatment in the hospital.

Alibaba uses Tyrese watch showoff to make case for Nigerian celebs

US actor/singer Tyrese shared a pic of his wristwatch collection on his instagram page, writing that 'the plane has to match the watch so he can get to his destination on time'. (pic on the left). He got a lot of likes and positive comments from his followers.

Nigerian King of comedy Alibaba reposted the pic on his own page and made a case for Nigerian artists and how fans here react to celebrity show off on social media. He said a lot more. See that after the cut...

In the comment section of the post, Alibaba wrote;
Everyone shows off. You work hard to show off. When you take a graduation picture and post it, there are millions who could not sit Jamb. When you are celebrating your baby dedication there are women praying for fruit of the womb. When you tell everyone how you got a great job, many are dying at stadia across the country. As long as its your hard work that got you those things you show off. Do you know showing off your cleavage could also be in that class of your argument? Because there are people that don't have. Some even have had theirs cut off. For me I see such as inspiration. And not show off. Its like saying HEY I USED TO SLEEP AT THE BAR BEACH. BUT SEE WHERE I AM. Because your neighbors. Don't have light you will not put your generator on? Even the people you call poor... Do you know how much support the person you are calling a show off has contributed to that large number of people in need? And if he were to start mentioning them, that will be another case of show off, abi?

"I agree with people buying things they don't need. And the fact that many don't plan. In my 25 years, I have seen stars rise and fall in show business. We are still going to see that happen in the next 25 years. That said, the yardstick used for measuring succes differ from person to person. Depending on what they have gone through. For instance, if I'm on a long haul flight, I do business class. If client got me business, I upgrade. But for a short 1 hour flight, I can do economy. And only do business if I feel like or when travelling with Madam. Now, some people may think because you are in economy, it means you are broke.

Meanwhile, on that row of economy seat, there is a real estate lord, with over 35 properties scattered all over Lagos. But some passenger, 2 seats away from you is thinking see that young artiste in business class, but This Ali Baba is in economy. Unknown to them, someone far richer than Ali Baba is sitting next to him. The flip side of this story is that the young artiste, may nit have kids and responsibilities. So he is allowed to live loud. Then there is the untold dynamics of showbiz. The young artiste may be going to perform with his crew for 5m... I may be going for the same event for, let me be generous and say half the amount the young artiste is paid. At the end of the event, I come home with 90% of my fee, the young artiste will come home with maybe 50%... But to the passenger two seats behind, that don't count. To him, seat in business class. You can go home and drink Garri. Just look good for me. So the artiste is torn between making the fan see him as making it or living his realities. On the others hand, when an artiste doesn't show off, the fans are fed gists of other artistes living the life, then the fan begins to conclude, if the papers say he is not making it, they should know. So the fans begin to believe what they read and see. So the artiste is on a long thing in the end. Finally, much as I agree with many people in need and not rubbing affluence in their face, celebrating success should be an inspiration to those working hard

"I totally totally agree. Most people in Business Class need to go to business class( school) to understand that a business's class ticket is not an investment unless you have crossed certain boxes investment wise. I has invested in other tangible assets before I invested in nice cars. Cars are the bane of many men, women don't make it easy either cos if you no get some type of cars , they don't consider you serious.

But what we don't understand is that in America you can rent a Car or lease one in nigeria we pay the full price at once, meanwhile the price of those "cars" can buy a house for the "star" so when the ruff times come( and yes it always comes) you have a fall back. May the God of wisdom enlighten us

Nigerian who killed his mum in the UK found guilty of manslaughter

Emmanuel Kalejaiye, the 21 year old Nigerian young man, who learned to walk in heels as part of his plans to kill his own mother, Tolu Kalejaiye, in September 2013, (read here) has been found guilty of manslaughter by a court in England.

According to the jury, Kalejaiye could not be found guilty of murder because to his mental state.

The Essex University undergraduate last year stabbed his 41 year old mother (pictured right) 40 times in her head, face, neck, upper limbs and hands during a frenzied knife attack. His mother until her death was an accountant with the Camden Council in England. Continue...

In his confessional statement, Emmanuel admitted to killing his mother saying she was driving him crazy with her religious stance and was using it to manipulate him.

"I admit killing my mother by stabbing her. I did this because she subjected me to a lifetime of physical and mental abuse. She used the Bible to rationalize what she did to me. I believe she manipulated and brainwashed me. I have been very depressed for a long time. I have tried to overcome it but I couldn't take it anymore".

According to investigations, after killing his mum, Emmanuel dressed up in female cloths and drove out of their apartment in a bid to fool his neighbor that his mother was the one driving out to work. His wounded mother, who didn't die immediately after the stabbing, managed to call a male friend who drove down to her apartment but met her corpse when he arrived.

Emmanuel was later caught on CCTV calmly buying a can of coke and a pack of cookies at a local post office before handing himself over to police.

Judge Christopher Ball QC who ruled over the case asked that a full psychiatric examination be conducted on Emmanuel. He fixed the date for his sentencing to June 2014.

“I Never Planned To Be A Media Personality, God Ordained It” – Toolz Oniru

I'm not one for long epistles on Instagram but sometimes I think about my journey and I am still truly baffled. God is so incredibly awesome! 5 years ago.

I moved back to Lagos not knowing what to expect but willing to work very hard. The plan wasn't to go into entertainment/media, the plan was to manage properties but God had a different plan.

I remember being so insecure when I did my voice test and not really thinking I was any good. Then I got a call back offering me a position for My own show. I remember thinking these people are having a laugh, I've never done any presenting in my whole life.

Then my show on the Beat99.9FM got popular, bigger and greater things followed. I'm eternally grateful to everyone involved in this journey.

It's not always easy sometimes being in the public eye makes you want to stay in bed and sob all day but by His grace I keep on keeping on. I get so emotional when ppl send me emails, saying I inspire them.

I never ever thought it would be like this. I've come a long way and I'm proud of where I am today. I also know God has only just started!

Moral of the story: Never give up and remember that with God, anything is possible. #Grateful #Thankyou

Tuere Short claims Columbus then ran to the kitchen for a knife, pinned her to the couch and began choking her.  She says he then demanded they play a game he called "Truth or Truth."  He allegedly said if she lied he would stab her in the leg.

Gov. Fayemi Denies Ownership Of Foreign Varsity, Tuition Fee Increment In EKSU

The Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has described as untrue the rumours making the rounds that he owns a university in Ghana and that he has increased tuition at the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti.

The governor made this known at an interview with journalists.

Fayemi attributed the false report to the handiwork of the opposition.

"I don't have a university anywhere in the world and I don't even intend to have one. Instead I am picking up a lecturing job at EKSU come next session.

"My name is important to me. I am a Catholic and as someone who takes the Holy Communion, I won't do anything that will desecrate this state and the Catholic Church", he said.

Speaking further on the purported claim that government had increased tuition fees in EKSU, the Governor said the rumour is a clear ignorance on the part of the peddlers who do not know that the school management does not review fees in the middle of an academic session.

Fayemi added that rather than increase school fee, the university management was planning a downward review of tuition in some departments.

On the alleged non-payment of pension and gratuity, the Governor said the non-completion of some processes by some pensioners was responsible for the delay in payment of gratuity to some category of pensioners.

He said government does not owe pension but instead, we have increased pension by six per cent in order to help the pensioners meet the economic realities of the present time.

12 Year-Old-Girl And 13 Year-Old-Boy Welcome Baby Girl In UK?

The young parents, from North London who claim to be totally in love, have been in a relationship for a year.

They met over Christmas 2012 in a park when she was ten and he was 12, it was reported. The mother of the 12-year-old, was also a teenage mother. At 27,
she is now one of the youngest grandmothers in Britain. The 12 year old girl has a 3-year old sister and a 9-year old brother.

Their combined ages make them the youngest recorded parents in Britain. In a chat with Daily Mail UK, the girls' parents had this to say:

"That little girl does not bring shame to me at all, I'm so proud of her. Shame doesn't even come into it. We didn't know this was happening. Unfortunately kids
this age are going to grow up to have boyfriends and partners or whatever. If they do things behind their parents' back that's something we're never going to be able to find out."

We only found out she was pregnant a month ago. That means she was eight months pregnant. The baby is going to come into the world no matter what. You can just be supportive about it.

The families on both sides are going to be very supportive about it. It is heartbreaking, but you can't turn back time. You can only go forwards. We don't know where it happened.

What you're implying is that we knew they were having s3xual interc*urse in bedrooms. No. 'They made a mistake and that's the thing we've got to deal with now and just be proud of what we've got.

They're very into each other, totally in love.

She is obsessed with him. She sees this as true love. They want to get married.' " the father said.

US Warns Citizens In Nigeria Over Security During Easter Holidays

Following the frequency of attacks in Nigeria in the past few days, the United States Department of States has warned American citizens living in Nigeria over possible attacks that might be carried out by extremists in the Northern parts of the country during the Easter celebration that will begin tomorrow through Monday.

The warning came on Wednesday, barely 48 hours after the US issued a fresh travel alert for Nigeria as a result of the bomb blast that reportedly claimed several lives and properties in Nyayan area of Abuja.

"The Government of Nigeria has declared Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, public holidays, and given the history of bombing attacks on weekends (some associated with holidays), as well as the recent bombing in Nyanya on April 14, the US Mission in Nigeria urges all US citizens living and travelling in Nigeria to take extra precautions for your personal security and safety", according to a statement obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

The US advised all American citizens to be particularly vigilant around churches and other places of worship, locations where large crowds may gather, government facilities, and areas frequented by expatriates and foreign travelers during the upcoming holiday weekend.

In the warning, the US noted that security measures in Nigeria remained heightened due to threats posed by extremist groups, stressing that its citizens should expect additional police and military checkpoints, additional security, and possible road blocks throughout the country during the holiday weekend.

The Department, however, recommended that US citizens travelling to or residing in Nigeria enroll in the Department of State's Smart Travelet Enrollment Programme (STEP) which it said would give Americans the latest security updates, and makes it easier for the U.S. embassy or nearest US consulate to contact them in case of an emergency.

Shocking: Beyonce Worshipper Found Dead After Sacrificing Self To Singer

Taniya Hattersfield, 23, of College Park, GA was found dead Tuesday morning of self-inflicted stab wounds to the chest.  Taniya Hattersfield was what appears to be a new member of the National Church of Bey, an organization based on the religion called Beyism.

The religion was founded to worship the R&B superstar Beyoncé Knowles and boasts hundreds of members that call themselves Divine Divas and even view Beyoncé's music as sacred text.
The body of Hattersfield was found in a pool of blood in the basement of the family home surrounded by hundreds of candles and a suicide note stuffed in her pants pocket.  She lay at the steps of a homemade shrine to Beyoncé.

The exact details of the suicide note were not revealed, but police did indicate that Hattersfield took her own life as a sacrifice to Beyoncé at the request of the National Church of Bey.  We were able to speak with the family of Hattersfield.  Her mother had this shocking response:  "She was crazy," her mother said, "Plum f-ckin' crazy!  You can't be nothin' but crazy to take your life over some lightskin b***h that sings. I mean, I know that's my daughter, but I'm just keepin' it real."

Hattersfield's father was less vulgar, but equally shocking.  "I don't even consider that my daughter. My sperm don't make crazy b****s that worships singers," the father said, "just because her mama and I had a good time one Friday night don't make her my daughter."

Rage has increased over the National Church of Bey that has gotten a lot of press coverage over the last week or so.  Many people have called for Beyoncé to speak out against the new religion.  However, there has been no word from Bey's camp as of yet.
Meanwhile, Taniya Hattersfield's body has yet to be claimed by any family members.  It currently sits in the hospital morgue waiting for a proper burial. If her body is not claimed, Taniya may eventually be laid to rest in a Potter's Field, a cemetery typical for homeless people that have no known families to claim them.

Revealed: Why Jonathan Attended Political Rally A Day After Abuja Bomb Blast - Maku

The Federal Government has come out defend President Goodluck's Jonathan visit to Kano few hours after the Abuja bomb blast which killed many on Monday.

Speaking at the end of the weekly Executive Council of the Federation, FEC, meeting on Wednesday, the Information Minister, Labaran Maku, said Jonathan had to attend the rally to prove to the terrorists that they cannot cripple the activities of government and they also cannot stop the administration of this country which, he said, was their fundamental aim.

According to Mr. Maku, it is incorrect for anyone to say the President is insentitive as he called off his trip to Ibadan and visited the site personally after the incident, adding that the criticisms of the president's actions were coming from politicians who are trying to use the issue to their advantage.

"I think that this is very bad… We should not be exploiting the emotion of citizens for a cheap political point," he said.

He added that government was doing everything possible to ensure that anywhere Nigerians are attacked, relief items are provided promptly and the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA has been strengthened tor espond to such attacks promptly.

He however condemned the media reportage of the blast, saying the FEC were disturbed at the way gory pictures of the blast were being published and circulated and called for a restraint in the reporting of such incidents.

"Yes, we must report, but in reporting, we must be sensitive to the psychological state of our people," he said.

He therefore called on Nigerians to not allow the spate of terrorism dampen their spirit but rather, they should be united in committed to kicking out terrorism from the country.

The president had faced harsh criticisms from Nigerians for attending a Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, politically rally in Kano State, a day after a terrible blast in Nyanya park in Abuja.

Military spreading lies on our children’s rescue – Parents

Anxious Nigerian parents demanded answers on Thursday about the fate of their daughters after the military claimed that 121 schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram Islamic extremists were now free.

Defence spokesman Chris Olukolade had initially said that 129 girls were abducted by gunmen in the Chibok area of the northeastern Borno state late Monday.

The mass kidnap — which has sparked global outrage — came just hours after the deadliest attack ever in the capital Abuja, where a bomb blast also blamed on Boko Haram killed at least 75 people.

Olukolade said that all but eight of the girls were safe, citing information provided by the school's principal, but families contested the claim.

The defence spokesman's claim has been widely disputed, including by parents who voiced anger at the allegedly false information.

"For the military (which) is supposed to find and rescue our children to be spreading such lies shows that they have no intention of rescuing our girls," said Lawan Zanna, a Chibok resident whose daughter was among those taken.

"It is the highest form of insult," he added. "They said our girls have been freed… Bring them to us because they are yet to be reunited with us."

Boko Haram has repeatedly attacked schools and universities during an extremist uprising that has killed thousands since 2009.

- Hope shattered -

The group's name loosely translates as "Western education is forbidden."

Students have been massacred in their dormitories and bombs set off at university campuses, but the mass abduction specifically targeting girls is unprecedented.

Borno's governor Kashim Shettima said Wednesday that only 14 of the girls had escaped their captors and offered a reward to anyone with information that led to the return of the others.

After the military claimed that most had been freed, a senior security source who asked that his name be withheld told AFP that more than 100 remained in captivity.

Parents in Chibok swarmed the home of the area's tribal chief on Wednesday, demanding clarification after the military claim, residents said.

"The feeling that the military was in pursuit of the kidnappers kept hope alive among parents," said one resident, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The dubious report that most of the children were now safe "has shattered that hope", he said.

- President calls emergency talks -

Gunmen stormed Chibok late Monday and torched several buildings before opening fire on security forces guarding the Government Girls Secondary School.

They killed two guards, then forced their way inside, herding the girls on to trucks before driving away.

Three of the girls who escaped said they were taken to the Sambisa Forest part of Borno, an area where Boko Haram is known to have well-fortified camps.
The school attack and Monday's bombing at a packed bus station on the outskirts of Abuja have underscored the serious threat the Islamists pose to Africa's most populous country and top economy.

President Goodluck Jonathan has summoned his security chiefs for a meeting on Thursday to review the unrest.

In a rare move, he also invited all of Nigeria's 36 state governments to join a second security meeting later in the day.

Jonathan, who is grappling with an unprecedented crisis in his own party, has faced mounting criticism over his failure to contain the Boko Haram threat.

The insurgency has cost more than 1,500 lives already this year, the deadliest stretch in Boko Haram's five-year uprising, which the group says is aimed at creating a strict Islamic state in Nigeria's mainly Muslim north.

Boko Haram's latest school attack sparked outrage and condemnation from Britain, the United States and UN chief Ban Ki-moon.

Borno's governor Shettima, visibly shaken, voiced particular outrage at the violence targeting teenage girls.

"In Islam, women and children are spared during war," Shettima said.

Jonathan remains sensitive to welfare of Nigerians – PDP

Abuja – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday maintained that President Goodluck Jonathan would continue to be sensitive to the welfare of Nigerians in spite the insurgency.

This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja by Mr Olise Metuh, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, in reaction to a statement by the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The APC statement had portrayed Jonathan as `heartless' for not shutting down governance over the April 14, bomb blast in Nyanya, a suburb of Abuja.
Metuh maintained that the APC`s statement was another demonstration of the party`s support for terrorist agenda against the country.

He said that contrary to the allegations by APC, Jonathan had continued to be sensitive and responsive to the welfare of Nigerians.

The party spokesman said that the plan of the opposition party to impose reign of terror in the country had failed.

Buttressing claims that Jonathan was sensitive to the plight of Nigerians, Metuh recalled that the president cancelled his planned trip to Ibadan as a result of the bomb blast.

He said that the president also visited the scene of the blasts and the injured in hospitals and gave directives on the matter.

Metuh recalled that after the Dana crash of June 3, 2012, the Nigerian flag was flown at half-mast, while the president and his entire cabinet refrained from celebrations.

"It is common knowledge that those behind the attacks seek to impose a reign of terror in our country, to cow the president.

"They also seek to dictate the tempo of government and ultimately shut down governance,'' the statement quoted Metuh as saying.

He maintained that the Federal Government would not in any way be cowed or intimidated to abandon its mandate, saying that Jonathan had remained committed to the welfare and security of Nigerians.

Metuh said that that the opposition expected the president to be intimidated by acts of terrorism.

"The leadership of the PDP and the government we formed shall not be cowed, intimidated, harassed or tele-guided by acts of terrorism.

"The PDP-led administration was popularly elected by Nigerians and shall never allow terrorists and their supporters to dictate the tempo of government which has been their direct objective, '' he said.

He explained that it was a globally settled principle that no government allowed terrorist to influence the course of its action, otherwise they would have achieved their purpose.

This, he said, was the reason the Conservative Party continued with its convention in Brighton, in October 1984, even though the then Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, was almost killed by an IRA bomb.

Metuh recalled that that five people were killed in that incidence, including two high-profile members of the Conservative Party, while 31 people were injured.

The party spokesman, however, called on Nigerians to be vigilant and wary always about their environment, especially suspicious movement.

He commended Jonathan for remaining steadfast and focused in delivering his transformation agenda in spite of the insurgency and unnecessary attacks by the opposition.

SSS Say Blogger Ciaxon Was Paid To Tweet Photos Of Boko Haram Jail Break

A 32-year-old man Yusuf Siyaka aka Ciaxon who tweeted live photos of attempted jailbreak at the SSS headquarters on March 30 and was later illegally detained for 12 days, was paid to tweet the sensational images, secret police said.

According to the spokesperson of the Department State Services, Marilyn Ogar, the blogger admitted during interrogation to covering the operation for "pecuniary reasons", which many analysts didn't believe though.

Meanwhile the spokesperson didn't say who and how much paid Siyaka for covering the operation.

Rebutting this claim, some activists and bloggers said he could not have tweeted for money because he ran into the battle accidentally and didn't know what was going to happen.

Premium Times gathered through its inside sources within the security that Siyaka was intimidated and held for so long to help the SSS maintain a single story about the gun-battle.

The SSS feared he would have distorted their narrative of what happened that day if not arrested. The source added:

"If he was not in custody, he would have been a hot source for media organizations and diplomats."

Released on Saturday, the blogger refused to comment on any SSS claims when contacted by journalists.

Those who met Siyaka after he had been freed claimed he still looks terrified and visibly traumatised.

Funsho Williams Was Strangled To Death – Pathologist

Lagos State Chief Forensic Pathologist, Prof. John Obafunwa, on Wednesday told a Lagos High Court in Igbosere that the slain former governorship candidate in the state, Mr. Funsho Williams, was strangled to death.

Six men - Bulama Kolo, Musa Maina, David Cassidy, Tunani Sonani, Mustapha Kayode and Okponwasa Imariabie - are standing trial before the court for the murder of Williams.

Williams, who was to contest the 2007 governorship election in Lagos, was murdered on July 27, 2006, at his residence, 34A, Corporation Drive, Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi.

Obafunwa, who was testifying as a prosecution witness before Justice Adeniyi Adebajo, said the post moterm conducted on the deceased person's body showed that his death resulted from asphyxia (lack of oxygen intake) due to "manual strangulation."

He said, "Based on our findings, the deceased's death resulted from asphyxia or lack of air intake due to manual strangulation, and the wounds found on the deceased can be described as defence wounds.

"Blood and urine samples, eye fluids, stomach contents, nail scrapings and clippings were also taken by the police for further forensic analysis after which I made a report."

The pathologist, who was led in evidence by the prosecuting counsel, Mrs. O.A Akin-Adesomoju, said an X-ray photograph also revealed a fracture of the thyroid cartilage (neck bone) of the body.

He added that there were bruises and defence wounds noticed on parts of the late politician's body.

He said that he visited the scene of the crime at the deceased person's residence at 34A, Corporation Drive, Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi at 5.30pm on July 27, 2006, following a call informing him of the deceased's death.

Obafunwa told the court that he waited for policemen to arrive before he later saw the corpse at 10pm.

He said, "I saw the body of a middle aged man, identified by the family, having his hands tied and lying face down in a pool of blood on a dagger wrapped with a newspaper.

"I covered the hands and taped it with a paper to prevent a foreign DNA which may occur during the movement of the body so as not to affect forensic investigations.

"I noticed that the room was scattered along with two other rooms which I checked before the body was moved to Creek Military Hospital and I left at midnight.

"During the post-mortem examination, myself and two other pathologists at Creek Hospital discovered a cut on the deceased forehead and bruises around his neck."

Counsel for the defendants, Mr. Agbara Okezie, declined to cross-examine the pathologist.

Justice Adebajo adjourned further trial till May 7.

The defendants were first arraigned on March 1, 2013 before Justice Adebajo on two counts of conspiracy and murder.

The defendants, according to the charge, on or about July 27, 2006, at 34A, Corporation Drive, Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi, conspired to murder Williams, an engineer.
