Robbers kill 2 policemen, 4 others in Lagos bank raid

It was a bloody Tuesday at the Alaba International
Market, Ojo, Lagos, when a gang of heavily robbers attacked
staff of new generation bank who were transferring money
from a branch of the bank to another, killing two policemen
and four others in the process.
Vanguard gathered that several other passerby sustained
injuries during the escape bid of the bandits who snatched a
large sum of money from the bank staff.
An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity told Vanguard that the
bandits positioned themselves at a strategic location in the
market and opened fire on sighting them, killing the
policemen and a yet to be identified woman on the spot before
snatching the money.
The bandits were also said to have shot indiscriminately in a
bid to escape which led to the death of three other persons
whose identities are yet to be ascertained.
When Vanguard visited the market, most of the traders were
seen in clusters talking about the incident.
Some of them blamed the bank for not providing enough
security while making huge cash transfer, while others called
on the police authorities to track down the hoodlums.
Sources told Vanguard that police had commenced
investigation into the incident, saying some officials of the
bank have been arrested.
