Kano State governor, Engr. Rabi'u Kwankwaso has
formally declared for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kwankwaso, who defected to the APC some few weeks ago, made the declaration shortly after a meeting with former Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders at the Government House, Kano, on Thursday.
He reiterated his decision to dump the PDP, saying it was
necessary to bring about democratic change in the country.
"It is imperative to leave the old order and embrace the new
order found in the APC to bring about democratic change in
Nigeria", he said.
The governor, who later hoisted the flag of the APC in the
midst of party supporters from the 44 local government
areas of the state, promised to carry everybody along in
order to move the state forward.
It was learnt that the APC flag had also been hoisted at the
main gate of the Government House, Kano.
With this development, Kwankwaso is the first among his
colleagues – Governors Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara), Aliyu
Wamakko (Sokoto), Murtala Nyako (Adamawa) and Rotimi
Amaechi (Rivers) – who recently defected to the APC, to
hoist the party's flag which signifies the APC is now the
ruling party in the state.
