duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and French
electronic music duo Daft Punk were the biggest
winners of the night at the 56th Grammy Awards
which held on Sunday, January 26, 2014.
Both acts walked away with four awards each;
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis won the awards for
'Best New Artiste', 'Best Rap Performance', 'Best
Rap Song' and 'Best Rap Album' while Daft Punk
snatched up the awards for 'Album of the Year',
'Record of the Year', 'Best Pop Duo/Group
Performance', 'Best Dance Album' and 'Best
Dance/Electronica Album'.
Nigerian Afrobeat musician Femi Kuti lost out at
the awards for the fourth time in a row. Kuti was
nominated in the 'Best World Music' Album' but
lost out to a tie between Ladysmith Black
Mambazo, and Gypsy Kings.
It was a big night for music producer-musician
Pharell Williams who won the 'Producer of the
Year' award.
Other winners Rihanna (Best Urban Contemporary
Album), Alicia keys (Best RnB Album), Pharell
Williams (Producer of the year) Ziggy Marley (Best
Reggae Album).
Top performances at the Staples Centre, L.A came
from power couple Jay Z and Beyoncé, Madonna,
P!nk, Taylor Swift, Daft Punk and others.
