At yesterday's hearing the EFCC counsel, Mr. Adebisi Adeniyi had alleged that some of those lined up by the Commission to give testimony were being threatened by unnamed people towards discouraging their appearance in court.
Adeniyi said he decided to raise the matter before Justice Adamu Hobon so the court could prepare adequate security for witnesses coming to testify.
However, counsel to the accused person, Ahmed Raji, SAN, disagreed with Adeniyi dismissing the accusation as a blanket allegation intended to divide the minds of the public.
"Fayose is here and he is not threatening anybody," he said.
But Justice Hobon assured that the court was ready to subpoena any witness that refused to come to testify and and that he would provide adequate security at the right time.
He said every citizen was duty bound to appear before a court when called upon to do so.
One of the officials of EFCC, Mr. Abubakar Madaki in his testimony, told the court while leading evidence that the accused person lied that he had N100 million in an account he had a vested interest.
" The accused person claimed that he had N100 million in an account with Bank PHB, my investigation revealed that the account belonged to the PDP and had less than N60,000," Madaki said.
He said after his investigation, it was discovered that the Ekiti state government started releasing money to Biological Concepts Nig Ltd on April 28, 2004 while the agreement for the contract was signed in September 2004.
