“i joined the gang for Xmas money”, Teen Robber Confessed

Jamiu Yisa An Eighteen year old, identified as Lanre Otunola
has been arrested for joining two other suspected robbers who
specialised in snatching vehicles at gunpoint.

The suspect who was paraded alongside his gang at the Lagos
State Police Command, Ikeja on Tuesday, confessed that he
joined the gang to raise money for the Christmas celebration.

Others paraded along with him were: Jamiu Agboola, 20
years and Toibu Oyeyinka, 24 years old.

The police claimed the trio snatched two sport utility vehicles
at gunpoint.

The suspects it was gathered, met their waterloo barely 23
hours after their operation following a tip-off from members
of the public to the police and the police subsequently laid
ambush for them at the spot where they parked the vehicles at
Market Street, Oyingbo area of Lagos looking for buyers.

Recovered from them are: one Honda Acura MDX Jeep, one
Toyota Highlander Jeep, two locally made pistols and four
live cartridges.

The grey coloured Honda Acura MDX Jeep 2013 model with
registration number AKD 09 AA and silver coloured Toyota
Highlander Jeep with registration number AGL 327 CD were
stolen at Opere Street, Coker Aguda Surulere Lagos on 14th
December, 2013.

The Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Ngozi Braide, at the
parade urged members of the public to provide more
information to the police as she acknowledged that the
cooperation of the public was responsible for the success of the arrest of the suspects.

She further informed that the police has put in place enough
strategies to include high visibility policing, motorised patrol,
etc to curb possible criminal activities during the festive
period.

She urged members of the public to go about their activities
as the police is doing its best to protect lives and properties
around financial institutions, event centres, pedestrian bridges,
uncompleted buildings, etc.
