Gunmen yesterday attacked the Gumau Divisional Police
Station in Toro local government of Bauchi State and killed a
Sergeant and took away his riffle.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Mohammed who confirmed the incident said, there was exchange of fire between the Police and the hoodlums but did not give a full account of the incident.
DSP Haruna assured that he will brief newsmen on the
incident as soon as the police is through with its
investigations . "We do not have a full account of the incident
for now, nevertheless, the Police is still conducting its
investigation into the incident and once we are done, we will
brief the journalists," he said.
Also,confirming the incident, a security source said, there
was an exchange of fire between the sergeant who was on
duty and the gunmen.
According to him,"in the process of exchange of fire, the
sergeant was killed and his riffle was taken away. We suspect
that the hoodlums were armed robbers looking for arms.After
the attack, the gunmen fled and escaped to an unknown
destination".
