Police Urges Fulani Herdsmen, Benue Farmers To Embrace Peace

The Deputy Inspector General of Police Operation Mr Michael Zuokumor has called on Fulani herdsmen and farming communities engaged in fighting in Benue State to embrace peace and dialogue to resolve crises of interest.

Zuokumor made the call Saturday while reacting to an
overnight attack by men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen
on communities in Adeke,Guma and Gwer west local
Government which so far has led to the dead of over 40
people.

He however assured residents of Makurdi and other towns
in the state of efforts by the state police command to return
peace and normalcy to the affected areas.

He disclosed that the force had mobilised and chased out
the bandits causing trouble in the areas while assuring that
the police will do everything possible to ensure that
residents will live in peace in their settlement.
