Nikki Laoye Says She Stopped Singing For 2 Years After Her Father’s Death

It was a very emotional moment for Nikki Laoye at this year's edition of The Headies; the singer cried on stage as she walked up to receive her award for 'Best Vocal Performance (Female)'.

Laoye won the award for the fantastic performance of her single 'Only you' which she wrote as a tribute to her late father.

'It was a very painful and sad moment for me when I lost my father two years ago. I stopped singing for two years', Laoye said as she shed tears on stage.

'But I thank God and my lovely husband', she added right after singing a powerful medley.

Laoye beat the likes of Waje, Niyola, Seyi Shay and Zaina to clinch the award.
