80 Feared Murdered In Boko Haram Fresh Raid On Mafa, Borno

Suspected Boko Haram members attacked Mafa Local Government Area on Sunday night, having destroyed over 70 percent of structures in the area and having reportedly killed scores of people.

According to an eyewitness, who spoke with Daily Post, more than 80 people may have been killed as dead bodies littered the community.

The eyewitness also noted that he saw casualty on both sides of the Boko Haram and the security personnel, who have been battling the insurgents.

The horrible attack is coming barely 24 hours after another set of terrorists laid an ambush on Mainok village, in which around 40 people are feared killed.

Mafa, about 40 kilometres from Maiduguri metropolis located East on the Maiduguri-Gambouru Ngala, was reportedly invaded by gunmen armed with AK47 rifles, Improvised Explosive Devices ( IED's ), Rocket Propelled Launchers, petrol bombs.

Vanguard reports they are said to have opened fire on residents who were asleep, which led to many people killed, injured as well as property worth millions of naira destroyed.

Local police represented by the commissioner Mr. Lawal Tanko confirmed the incident but didn't give official figures on the number of casualties yet.
