Herbalist arraigned over sexual intercourse with 2 boys

The police on Monday arraigned a herbalist, Atahiru Obey,
45, at a Wuse Zone 2 Chief Magistrates' Court, Abuja, for
allegedly having unlawful carnal knowledge of two boys.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Atteh Effiong told the court that the

26, by the mother of one of the boys.

He said that the case was, however, transferred to the State
Criminal Investigation Department, Abuja, on Dec. 6.

Effiong said that the mother alleged that the herbalist, living
in Jabi Dakibiyu, Abuja, had been having sexual intercourse
with her son and another boy, both aged 13 since 2012.

The prosecutor told the court that Obey had during the period
had sexual intercourse with the boys eight times.
Effiong said the offence contravened Section 284 of the Penal
Code.

When the charge was read to him, Obey pleaded not guilty,
and the Chief Magistrate, Mr Anthony Ogboyi, granted him
bail in the sum of N200,000 with one reliable surety in like
sum.

Ogboyi said the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of
the court, and together with the accused, deposit their passport
