Nigeria to adopt S’Africa’s road tolling system
implementation of road management policy in Nigeria, the
Federal Government is set to adapt the South African model
of tolled road management.
Mr. Abdulrasaq Oyinloye, Managing Director of the
Infrastructure Bank, stated this in Abuja at the opening
ceremony of a training programme on tolled roads and road
management.
Oyinloye said the bank is collaborating with the Development
Bank of South Africa, DBSA, to organise a two-day training
for stakeholders in the road sector.
According to him, South Africa has been in the road
management for the past 20 years and it is good Nigeria learn
from them to reinvent the wheel.
Oyinloye said the training, entitled Tolled Roads and Road
Management: A Sustainable Approach, was aimed at bringing
the stakeholders in the sector on the same page.
He said this would enable them have a clear and common
understanding.
of issues and dynamics, surrounding, financing, construction,
operation and maintenance of the road sector.

Pasuma In Murder Mess
Alabi Odetola, popularly known as Pasuma Wonder is
currently enmeshed in a murder mess.
From all indications, the Fuji veteran who recently
celebrated 20 years on stage may be on his way into police
net if matters are not well handled. Eye witnesses are
saying that a member of the convoy of the Fuji star over-
ran a teenage fan after Pasuma's vehicle knocked down the
victim on their way from a show at Idimu-Council area of
Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The victim, Bidemi, a 12-year old fan of
the 'Orobokibo' singer is said to have been lurking around
to get a glimpse of the star as he was leaving the St.
Augustine Events Hall, Isheri-Idimu where the show took
place only to lose his life in the process. 'Pasuma was
trying to avoid the area boys as he was leaving and so he
was driving fast and it happened that he knocked the boy
down and the vehicle behind him ran over the boy', an eye
witness told NET correspondent.
Pasuma is said to have been driving in his newly acquired
Range Rover Sports and did not bother to slow down to
find out what had happened. 'He sped off without caring',
another eye witness said.
But the singer's minders insist he's innocent and absolutely
unaware of what happened after he left the event
venue. Those close to Pasuma told NET he wasn't initially
aware of the situation and that the decease may have been
hit by a random car coming behind the musician.
NET investigations reveal that 'Paso', as the singer is
fondly called in the streets was trying to avoid the area boys
who were desperate to extort him. It has become an
accepted tradition in the Fuji industry, for Fuji artistes who
perform in an area to 'settle' the area boys because they
form the largest percentage of their fan base.
Pasuma according to a few 'area boys' who were at the
scene of the incident said the self- acclaimed Oganla of
Fuji is fond of not 'settling' the area boys and it was in this
bid to avoid being extorted that led to the untimely death of
the teenager.
'Paso no dey like to settle. Na because e no wan settle
make am drive fast like that', one of the area boys said.
Other sources say he actually tipped fans and some
miscreants, but like Oliver Twist, some camps wanted more
and the musician sped off after he had had
enough. Speaking to NET in a telephone conversation,
Pasuma's manager, Afolabi Oyekoya refused to confirm or
deny the allegations. He was yet to issue an official
statement as at press time, and NET enquiries were left
unanswered.
The family of the victim could not be reached for
comment. Our correspondents' visit to the St. Augustine
Events Centre, venue of the show did not yield results as
the management refused to comment on the incident.
All efforts to get the police officers at Idimu Police Station
Area M also proved abortive, as the officers refused to
entertain any questions and directed that we referred the
inquiry to the office of the Police Public Relations Officer,
PPRO, whose number was switched off at the time.
Pasuma is not the first celebrity to be involved in a hit and
run. Years ago, the current president of the Actors' Guild of
Nigeria, Ibinabo Fiberesima was arrested and imprisoned
for killing a Lagos doctor. Also, last year, singer Terry G
was alleged to have been involved in a hit and run situation.
It is not clear how the case ended.

ASUU STRIKE : Union may call off strike on Thursday
off its over four-months' strike on Thursday, sources has
gathered.
It has been revealed that the Union's plan is to suspend the
strike after the National Executive Committee of the body
meets on Wednesday night to deliberate over the outcome of
the congresses held in over 50 universities across the country
on the new offer extended to ASUU by the Federal
Government.
The Union leadership had after its meeting with the Federal
Government delegation last week promised to take President
Jonathan's message to all members and resolve on whether to
call off the strike or not.
The ASUU leadership had since then briefed the zonal
coordinators on the offer, and consequently directed the local
branches to organise congress meetings between Friday last
week and Tuesday (tomorrow) to deliberate on the new offer
and make their final position known this week.
However, information gathered from the different Universities
after their various congresses showed that the lecturers are
now willing to call of the strike, even though they are unsure
of government's commitment to abide by the terms of the new
agreement. Some of the lecturers that spoke with DailyPost
have disclosed that the strike may be suspended this
Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Ibadan Zonal Coordinator of ASUU, Dr.
Nasir Adesola, has confirmed that the NEC meeting has been
scheduled to hold on Wednesday. However, he did not
disclose whether the strike would be called off after the
meeting or not.
"Yes, the NEC will hold on Wednesday evening, but ASUU
has a process which we are going to follow. NEC reserves the
right to call off the strike after due consultation with members
and this is why congresses are being called in all the chapters
of the union. Please, wait till after the congress," He has
disclosed.
Sources have revealed to DailyPost that most of the lecturers
have argued that the strike be called off, having seen the
President's commitment. They have said that the new
agreement has been made public with the involvement of
President Jonathan, hence the need to call off the strike. They
have argued that such an agreement cannot be twisted even at
the long run.
Nigeria now producing armoured vehicles
class, some Nigerian auto firms have intensified research
work on the armouring technology.
Already, an indigenous automobile manufacturer, Proforce
Limited, has commenced the production of Armoured
Personnel Carriers.
Proforce said it had sealed a pact with Defence Industries
Corporation and some para-military organisations for the
production.
The Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah, is currently
facing criticism for allegedly forcing the Nigerian Civil
Aviation Authority to buy two armoured cars for her.
Wealthy Nigerians and top public office holders import a
number of armoured vehicles.
The Managing Director, Proforce, Mr. Ade Ogundeyin, said
in a statement obtained on Friday that his firm was currently
working with the Defence Industries on the APCs, just as he
stressed it was equipped to armour other categories of
vehicles.
He criticised the idea of importing armoured vehicles, saying
it did not make economic sense for Nigerians to continue to
import what was available locally.
"There is no need for government or anybody to import
bulletproof or armoured vehicles. It is a waste of resources.
"Why import at very high cost when there is capacity to
produce better vehicles at comparatively lower prices locally?
This is an issue I hope the new auto policy will address."
Ogundeyin said the armouring materials were resistant to
AK-47 gunshots and assaults with improvised explosive
devices, stressing that the vehicles would run on special flat
tyres that could endure several kilometres of journey even
when deflated.
The Proforce boss also expressed support for the recently
developed auto plan, describing it as one of the best policies
of the President Goodluck Jonathan administration.
He said if fully implemented, the document was capable of
boosting industrial activities in the sector and contributing
towards the achievement of government's targets for the
economy by 2020.
He aligned with the thrusts of the new auto policy, which
were to encourage investment, enhance technological
development and revive production activities in the industry.
Ogundeyin said, "This is a laudable plan which is capable of
transforming the local industry. The impact will be felt in
many ways, including the establishment of many small- and
medium-scale support industries, job creation and increase in
capacity utilisation.
"But a lot will depend on whether government has the will to
fully implement the policy, especially the area that concerns
their agencies or departments buying locally made vehicles.
Another critical area that requires firm action on the side of
government is the one that introduces stiffer tariff structure for
fully built imported vehicles."

(Photo) Sunday Are opens up on why he stopped managing D’banj
heavyweights like D'banj, Don Jazzy and Omawumi. The
name definitely rings a bell in the entertainment industry. In
the heat of the Mo'Hits separation, Are remained silent,
deciding not to comment on the situation.
In a recent interview with Encomium Weekly, the popular
artiste manager opened up on why he parted ways with
D'banj after Mo'Hits packed up and also details his current
relationship with the other members.
On partying ways with D'banj…
'What many people don't really know is that before
Mo'Hits eventually broke up, I have made up my mind to
stop working with D'Banj. Don't get me wrong, D'Banj is
one artiste I will continue to love whether we see or we
don't see, whether we talk or we don't talk….The love I
have for him was dropping and two weeks before they
announced their break-up, something happened between us
during a show in Asaba, and that night, I wouldn't lie to
you, I said to myself, I am not going to work with him
again'.
'I think it's not important anymore. Truly, I was not happy
during the period but that was then. Life goes on and till
tomorrow, he's somebody I still love, respect. So, I thank
God that he's doing well and I am also doing fine. I am
very happy because I know what I have achieved since they
left. I know what God has done for me since they parted
ways'.
On working with the Mavin artistes…
The thing is, when I stopped working with D'Banj, I still
maintained my working relationship with others in Mo'Hits
but I never knew they had planned to break-up. When the
break-up came, I went back to the drawing board and
planned my next move. I still got shows for them and
connected clients who needed D'banj, Wande Coal and
others for shows, even for Tiwa Savage. There're
sometimes I collected service charge but in most cases, I
did it for free. So, it wasn't like a working relationship I
had with them as members of Mo'Hits
.
On the rumours that he managed D'Prince, Dr. Sid, and
Wande Coal
Like I said, we still have a very good relationship but not
really a working relationship. They call me 'our daddy'
anytime they see me. So, where they employed me as their
managers I don't really know. It sounded a bit insulting
when I heard it but it is one of those things. For me, I don't
think anyone of them needs me as hype because they are
already superstars. The person that was said to have sacked
me (Wande Coal) and the one they sacked me for (Nana
Abbey, Wande Coal's current manager) are my children. I
remember how his parent brought him (Nana) to learn
under me, not even to work. It was very ridiculous to see
the headline; 'Wande Coal sacks Sunday Are, his Manager,
for Nana Abbey'! Nana Abbey is my son and Wande Coal
has never employed me before
.
His relationship with Don Jazzy
'That word, 'aide' sounds weird because if you check my
age and that of Don Jazzy, the gap is wide. Let me tell you
the truth about myself, I am a proud person and I respect
myself. I may not be more than this but I know my worth.
So, I am not comfortable with the word. But, the truth of
the matter is that he called me one afternoon that my
children (referring to Dr SID, and D'Prince) are missing me
and they wanted to see me. I told him I would be travelling
out of the country. So, when I came back, we met and he
specifically told me that I should take care of Dr SID and
D'Prince the way I am taking care of my artistes. That was
about a year after they registered Mavin Records. I
accepted and collected their materials, their singles and I
did the promo CD for their new songs. So, it is not like a
management deal but rather me helping them because of the
bond we've shared together'

Whereabouts of kidnapped Sokoto businessman still unknown – Police
declared that it had yet to ascertain the whereabouts of Alhaji
Abu Dakure, a Sokoto-based business tycoon, who was
kidnapped by unknown persons.
Dankure was kidnapped by unknown persons last Wednesday
in Sokoto.
The spokesman of the police command, Al-Mustapha Sani,
told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto that the
command was, however, monitoring the situation "very
keenly.
"We are on top of the situation but the kidnappers have not
made any call as yet; there is nothing about ransom for now,''
he said.
"His (Dakure's) GSM handsets are still off and the lines
cannot be reached by anybody,'' he said.
Sani, however, assured relations and anxious members of the
public that the police were working round the clock to unravel
the mystery behind the abduction of the businessman.
Alhaji Mamman Dangaladima, an elder brother to the
abducted business mogul, who also spoke with NAN, said that
prayers had been intensified for God's intervention in the
incident.
"We have prayed and shall continue to pray that God will
bring him back in perfect peace,'' he added.
Dangaladima, who noted that the abductors had not called
family members or security agencies, expressed optimism that
God would soon bring the family's harrowing experience to
an end.
The four unknown gunmen on Wednesday night seized
Dankure around 9 p.m. at the Kupper neighbourhood of
Sokoto, where he is constructing a new plaza.
His car, a Toyota Camry car, was, however, recovered by the
police in a farmland near Durbawa village in Kware Local
Government Area of the state.

Actress Nadia Buari Is Jobless- Fans Are Worried
Buari are really worried that their diva who used to be one of
the most prominent faces in the Ghana movie industry (2007 –
2010) is barely even in the news except for the relationship
and social media drama.
Her fans can not fathom whatever happen to her many
aspirations especially the one about acting in Hollywood
With Ghana's current melt down in their movie industry .
Nadia would seem to be falling apart but the fine lady was
spotted in a football pitch somewhere in Asia few days ago,
November 6th, 2013 to be precise looking either more relaxed
or was in a therapy session for stress relief. But it also looks
like the actress actually posed for the camera.
Nadia isn't getting any younger – pushing into her 30s – and
her fans may be worried what is becoming of their super diva.
After sharing so many words and much affection about her
relationship to Iyke in the last few months, including an
imaginary stroll down the aisle, one can only wonder; is
Nadia Buari feeling sorry or fly about her present situation –
single with no jobs coming. That doesn't sound like the
perfect combination for any male or female.
Well, now that Nadia is jobless, there are also speculations
that she has vanished from Instagram just after she reportedly
deleted Jim Iyke's pictures from her page (rumour has it that
they are back together) Seems girlfriend is not smiling at the
moment.

positive influence on the governance of the state if her

believes in the power of shared vision even at the family

to her pre-eminent LIGHT OF THE NATION status."
"I witness that his pro-people and transformational manifesto
is a sacred covenant and out there begging for your cherished
voters' mandate. He is a good man, he has been a tested
activist and political leader.
He will do well as a grassroots governor and there will be

government and workers' relationship, job opportunities,
youth and women empowerment programmes, etc. Ndi nne,

APGA expresses anxiety over influx of miscreants
By CHRIS OCHAYI & CALEB AYANSINA
APGA National Chairman, Chief Victor Umeh has expressed
anxiety over the influx of miscreants into AnambraState ahead
of the weekend election.
Umeh who spoke when he presented the APGA candidate,
Wilie Obiano to the Anambra community in Abuja at the
weekend thus called on the Federal Government to deploy
soldiers to the state ahead of the election.
Also presented to the Anambra community was Obiano's
running mate,
Nkemakonam Okeke to them, in Abuja.
Umeh said: "we came here to introduce our governorship
candidate; Dr Willie Obiano and his running mate,
Nkemakonam Okeke to the people of Anambra state residing
in FCT.
He said it was necessary to solicit the support of the
Anambrarians living in FCT to consolidate on the various
achievements recorded by Governor Peter Obi, noting that the
party believed that its candidates could be trusted with the
state's administration.
"We have capable hands to do the job. We have found him to
be worthy in character and learning, they are the most
qualified people to be trusted with the state," he stressed.
Umeh further noted that though the party believed in the
ability of the Independent National Electoral Commission
(INEC) to conduct free and fair election, but with the influx of
miscreants currently in the state there is going to be a
problem.
"It is important to state clearly that one challenge that this
election may likely face will be in the area of security.
"We want to use this opportunity to ask Mr. President as
Commander-in-Chief to do everything to ensure that this
election is not mismanaged through security lapses.
"We want them to start to deploy policemen, and if possible
soldiers on time, deploying policemen a day to the election
usually do not work, because before the election criminals
could have infiltrated the state.
"I can tell you today that we are very worried about the action
of miscreants, the overzealous and desperate politicians have
imported into the state, and they are planning to wreck havoc
on the day of election.
So, if the President gives the right instruction, I am sure with
full security deployment and INEC lives up to expectation, the
election will be a success."

Government are Corrupt: Nigerian Celebrities Speak Out
the office is, is living in affluence and abundance at the
detriment of his or her followers.
In our political class, there are things that are expected of you
to possess in terms of riches and affluence. If you are not
stupendously rich, you hardly get into any political position in
Nigeria and even when you manage to gain the post, you try
as much as you can, to enrich yourself the more knowing fully
well that you belong to a particular political class.
Barely few weeks when the incumbent Minister of Aviation
acquired a bullet proof car worth over N200m, reactions have
been coming from Nigerians. These are their reaction,
Interviewed by Nigeriafilms.com
It has become a statuesque in Nigeria— Clems Ohamaeze
Well, almost all political office holders are living the same
kind of luxurious life styles. It has become a statuesque. They
should know that the money they are spending belongs to the
general public. It is amazing how such a huge amount of
money was spent just to buy a bullet proof car while some
Nigerians cannot afford a two square meal. The government
should do something about that. It is a big shame to. But with
time, this issue will be swept under the carpet. Almost all our
leaders live that kind of life.
It shows the level of corruption in the country—Buchi,
Comedian
It is the depth of corruption in the country that is causing that.
Most of our leaders are so corrupt that they care less about the
welfare of the citizens. It can never happen to our colonial
masters. If a British parliament earns one pound more than
his/ her salary, he/ she will be sacked. It is so bad.
Wrong trend that has to change—Mary Lazarus, Actress
I think its a trend that is already in existence; Nigerians
believe in using opportunities because you may never get the
opportunity again. But like l would always say that a good
name is better than great riches. And the fear of God than
great wealth. Questions that should come to our minds are
what would I be remembered for, when l am no more in that
position? As it is, they get paid well! I cannot understand the
reasons for the theft. My advise is that we should cut our coat
according to our pocket and not our size
The country needs revolution from the bad eggs— Amaka
Obi, Actress
We need a fresh start; a revolution. New, young leaders,
leaders who won't take orders from the old men. We cannot
check mate thieves on public officers in this country as of
today because they take orders from people who kept them in
offices. As for a woman in position; women love stuff, but if
she is watched and disciplined, they turn out better public
officers. I also think one can eat a deal in his or her office if
he or she equally works well. There won't be any basis for
checking your sector if you do your job well.
It's insensitivity—Antar Laniyan
It is a case of cheer insensitivity to the plight of Nigerians
living in abject squalor. It is a very thing bad
I am not to judge them—Adokiya
Well, I am not to judge them but it is clear and sickening that
people cannot eat and a lot of our leaders live in waste. I weep
and sober when I hear this. But one thing is sure, the evil that
people do, remains with them. The good they do, comes back
to them as well. We live in cages like birds and in holes like
ants with too much security and fear of the unknown simply
because, our leaders have lost the focus and vision of being a
leader. Today, we know how the hunter has become the
hunted. I leave them to God Almighty. The leaders who are
wicked now get entangled in their own evil
Misappropriating national fund is bad—Princess Chineke
Leaders living luxurious lifestyle by misappropriating our
national funds is totally not right when the poor are
languishing in abject poverty. But if they are living luxurious
life style on hard-smart earned money then its fine, one needs
to spoil self one's in a while.

He said: "This new system includes: the re-introduction of

licensing, corporate outlook for transport operators -use of uniform and badges and the implementation of passengers insurance for commercial passenger vehicles in Lagos state".
According to him, from January 1st 2014 which is the
commencement date, all commercial bus owners, drivers and
conductors are to visit any of the 21 zonal offices of the Vehicles Inspection Services, VIS, nearest to them for accreditation and documentation free of charge.
The process, he explained, involves the physical examination of
vehicles and particulars to ascertain its road worthiness status.

stakeholders to ensure the success of the programme designed to further restore and reposition the sector for better productivity, service delivery and improved quality of life in the state.
Also commenting on the 13th National Council on Transportation, Opeifa said Lagos agreed to host the event in order to ensure adequate transport system in the state, identify opportunities within transport sector of the economy and promote various modes of transportation.
According to him, the NCT would be in two sessions, comprising of the technical session and the national council meeting.
Opeifa said the technical session would be led by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Transport, Engr. Nebolisa Emordi which will focus on briefs from the states and federal agencies on the state of implementation of decisions taken at the 12th National Council Meeting held in Markurdi.

"The second fold of the National Council on Transportation is the meeting which will be declared open by Governor Fashola on Thursday, 14th November 2013 at the Civic Centre in Victoria Island. The Council meeting which will be chaired by the Minister for Transportation, Senator Idris Audu Umar, will focus on various issues such as: presentation of the report of the Technical session that will be delivered by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Transport, Engr. Nebolisa Emordi.
Responding on why social miscreants, known as 'Area boys and Agberoes' are still chasing commercial buses on the streets of Lagos in spite of the new traffic law prohibiting them from doing so, Opeifa, said, many hoodlums have been arrested as a result; stressing that efforts were still on-going to ensure full

David Did Not Kill Goliath, The Bible Is Not Infallible! - Femi Aribisala
to Elhanan, one of David's mighty men.
One of the myths of Christianity is the infallibility of the
bible. Quoting Paul, some Christians insist every word in the
bible is "God-breathed." (2 Timothy 3:16). When you identify
contradictions in the bible, they either refuse to acknowledge
them or try to rationalise them away with highfalutin
apologetics. However, these apologetics have not made the
contradictions disappear. All they do is establish that these
bible-fanatics are not committed to the truth.
Christians generally believe little David killed mighty Goliath,
according to the "infallible" account of 1 Samuel 17:50-51.
This feat is drummed into us from childhood. We act in plays
celebrating David's victory. We listen to sermons extolling his
achievement. However, the same "infallible" bible also credits
the killing of Goliath to Elhanan, one of David's mighty men.
This contradiction leads to the inevitable conclusion that while
the bible might indeed be a highly inspired book, it is
nevertheless not infallible.
Bible discrepancies
2 Samuel says: "There was another battle with the Philistines
at Gob, and Elhanan son of Jair from Bethlehem killed
Goliath from Gath." (2 Samuel 21:19). This record of Elhanan
(as opposed to David) killing Goliath can be found in the
following bible translations among many others: New
International Version (NIV); American Standard Version
(ASV); New American Standard Bible (NASB); New
American Standard Bible, Updated Edition (NASU); The
Amplified Bible (AMP); Revised Standard Version (RSV);
New Revised Standard Version (NRSV); and Today's English
Version (TEV).
Other bible translations of the same 2 Samuel 21:19 say
Elhanan killed "the brother of Goliath." These translations
include the King James Version (KJV); New King James
Version (NKJV); The Living Bible (TLB); and New Living
Translation (NLT).
Of the latter, the New King James Version is remarkably
unreliable. As a matter of policy, King James sometimes adds
its own words to bible verses, effectively doctoring their
meaning. In its own defence, it warns its readers in its
introductory pages that: "words or phrases in italics indicate
expressions in the original language which require
clarification by additional English words." The need for such
dubious "clarification" led the New King James Version to
alter 2 Samuel 21:19 as follows: "Again there was war at Gob
with the Philistines, where Elhanan the son of Jaare-Oregim
the Bethlehemite killed THE BROTHER OF Goliath the
Gittite."
Although the translation says Elhanan slew "the brother of
Goliath;" the words "the brother of" are written in italics,
indicating that they do not appear in the original Hebrew text
but were added at the discretion of NKJV translators. This
leads to the following conclusion: either the original Hebrew
of 2 Samuel 21:9 was not infallible, or the doctored 2 Samuel
21:9 of NKJV is not infallible. Whichever is the case, it
means the bible is not infallible. The bible is a book written
and compiled by men; and men are not infallible.
Who killed Goliath?
However, my purpose here is not just to demonstrate the
fallibility of the bible. Bible-worshipping Christians will
always reject that fact no matter what. My purpose is to
determine if David killed Goliath. Faced with the dilemma of
contradictions between 1 and 2 Samuel, the author of 1
Chronicles, written centuries after 2 Samuel; says: "There was
another battle with the Philistines, and Elhanan son of Jair
killed Lahmi, the brother of Goliath from Gath." (1
Chronicles 20:5).
The question then arises as to which version we are going to
believe? Should we believe the classical position that David
killed Goliath, or should we believe the equally biblical
position that Elhanan killed Goliath?
For a number of reasons, the account stating that David killed
Goliath is the less believable. It is in the tradition of kings and
rulers to take credit for other people's achievements under
their kingdom. David was no exception to this. For example,
when Joab captured Rabbah, he tactfully gave the credit to
David. David himself went along with this charade and
pretended that he was the one who took the city. (2 Samuel
12:26-31).
It would appear that originally the killing of Goliath was part
and parcel of a collection of tales extolling the exploits of
David's mighty men of war known as "The Thirty." Elhanan
was one of them. He distinguished himself by killing a mighty
Philistine called Goliath. But in the process of magnifying the
great King David, his substitution as the killer of Goliath was
not long in coming.
Saul and wDavid
The account of David killing Goliath is so full of
contradictions that it is clear it is the fabricated version. One
of the problems with the account has to do with the inability
of bible-writers to determine precisely when David first met
Saul.
We are told that when Saul transgressed against the Lord, God
sent an evil spirit to trouble him. (1 Samuel 16:14). Someone
then recommended to Saul that he should hire David to play
the harp, offering the dubious thesis that soothing music is a
demon-repellent. But then the man recommending David said
something strange: he extolled David, a young teenager who
was not even old enough to be in the army, as a man of war:
"I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skillful in
playing, a mighty man of valor, a man of war." (1 Samuel
16:18).
This description is a giveaway. It is obviously written after the
fact. There is no basis for describing David, a youth keeping
sheep, as "a mighty man of valour" and "a man of war." By
all accounts, David was not even a man yet.
On this recommendation, Saul sent word to Jesse, David's
father, that his son should be seconded to him. However,
David entered Saul's service not as a harp-playing musician,
but as his armour-bearer, even though we are told later that
Saul's armour was too heavy for David. (1 Samuel 17:38-39).
Nevertheless, whenever Saul came under attack by the evil
spirit, David would play a harp and the evil spirit would
depart. Saul quickly took a liking to David, and he sent to his
father a second time that David's secondment to him should
become permanent. (1 Samuel 16:22).
However, when we get to the incident where David is alleged
to have killed Goliath, we discover to our surprise that this
same David, who was supposed to be Saul's armour-bearer/
musician, had never met Saul before. In that contradictory
account, David was just a young boy tending sheep. His
father sent him to deliver lunch to his two brothers at the war-
front. On arriving there, he found Goliath terrorizing
everybody and offered to fight against him.
He was then brought to Saul who, on meeting him for the
very first time, said to him: "You are not able to go against
this Philistine to fight with him; for you are a youth, and he a
man of war from his youth." (1 Samuel 17:33). However, in
the earlier version, David was specifically introduced to Saul
as "a man of war." Contrary to the earlier account where Saul
sent emissaries to David's father twice, he now did not know
who David's father was. He asked Abner, his military
commander: "Whose son is this young man?" (1 Samuel
17:55). (Continued).
"Actress Omoni Oboli" Me Divorce My Husband? No Way"
been married for about 13 years now and they have in many
ways become a reference point to other actresses who rush in
and rush out of marriage. Omoni shares few insights with
Vanguard on what has kept her marriage and why divorce is
not an option...
What has kept my marriage going?
13 years now. Marriage is not about your status, so I didn't go
into it with the view to changing who I am just because of my
new status as celebrity. Again, I thank God because it's not
what I did, but the fact that God gave me a husband that I
love and understand and one who loves and understands me.
Many others who would have loved to stay married (celebrity
or not) don't always have a choice in their affairs.
Feeling the same love for him
I think I love him even more now than when we first started.
We have changed in so many ways and levels in our
relationship that has sealed our union, and I'm so enjoying
our thing right now.
Having a non-celebrity husband
Marriage to anybody is to understand the responsibility that
comes with it. In my marriage, there's no plan B; no thoughts
about divorce. The fact that he isn't a celebrity is not what
makes him a great husband, it's just who he is.
Second honeymoon
We have had many honeymoon. We find time to make our
little mummy and daddy timeouts count as honeymoon. Our
10th anniversary was in Dubai, and we had a great time.
Running joint bank account
That's totally up to every couple. No two relationships are
alike. If they have a joint account but make each other
miserable, how does that help the relationship? If they don't
maintain a joint account, but enjoy their marriage, who can
fault them? So, I say, to each his own, whatever works for
you.
In God's Name by Charly Boy
below...
My guy, things are falling apart and the Center can no
longer hold. People just dey craze anyhow and dem go
see anyhow. Jungle don mature, HA!!! I fit faint. When I
was a little boy in the city of Peterkwa, called Port-
Harcourt, I was taught NEVER to use God's name in
vain. Nowadays, everybody just dey call God name
anyhow dem like. When Yahoo yahoo boys dey pray for
good business, dem go call Him name before they obtain.
Armed robbers pray, before they go for an operation, dem
go hala Him name. Some of our governors are using
prayers to confuse their people as they plunder the land
with impunity. Bone face Bragadoooo. Some of them
these days claim they talk with God, they claim they are
MEN of God, they also use God's name to obtain big time
from their congregation.
Several religious wars have been fought in God's name,
politicians loot and run down the country in God's name,
Kenyan terrorist attackers paused for prayers before they
continued their killings, all they did was done in God's name,
hideous criminals operate, relying on God's name, great
crimes and atrocities are committed, all in God's name.
Chinekee God, are you there?
Throughout history, religion has been used as an excuse or
driving force for some of the worst atrocities unimaginable.
From prehistory to modern history, religion is for many
people just an excuse to kill some people, obtain from some
people, lie to some people, and cause all 'kinda' katakata, all
in the name of God. This is not FAIR! Biko!
I was watching CNN the other day and the news of the Bishop
of Limburg, Franz-Peter Tebartz-van Elst popularly called
The BLING Bishop, being ordered to Rome to answer to his
choice of mounting an extravagant new residence complex
which blew out to at least 31 million euros ($42 million). Not
too long the German church had suffered fallout from a child
sex scandal. Kai! Madness!
I simply don't understand this, using church funds to enrich
ones' self or satisfy ones' selfish desire. $42 million, what
for? Did he forget that people contributed this money, that this
money was hard earned money worked for by members of the
congregation?
My major concern is why he wants to destroy the mission and
vision of Pope Francis, the most popular Pope since the
history of the Vatican. The true Man of God the world has
come to love. Which one we go talk, His reforms, His
Humility, His Simplicity, His Spirituality, His exemplary life
according to the teachings of Jesus Christ, why this German
Bishop want to pour sand san into the pope's "garri". I don't
know.
These days you will hear most Pentecostal pastors talk about
how God spoke to them, how they were called, how they have
amazing powers, bla bla bla, how they received the anointing.
How they can cast and bind, I tire for all these wash wash
pastors. Some of these men of very questionable background
and character are all over the place now. Telling all who cares
to listen how they drink Tea with the Almighty God. Some
families have already been put asunder because the pastor
somehow is 'remote controlling' wives looking for the fruit of
the womb, by testing the merchandise personally. kai!
They are the real Abrakadabra in God's name. Dem no send.
I don't know if I'm the only one confused, but I don't see the
difference between pastors and native doctors any more. If
you are still sane, maybe you can help me differentiate; the
craze for private jets; pastors/politicians, wearing of
expensive suits; pastors/conmen wearing million dollar wrist
watches; pastors/conmen, building expensive schools; pastors/
politicians, casting, binding and miracle explosion; pastors/
native doctors, embezzling public funds; the list is endless.
These days we don't know the difference between san sand
and garri. Odikwa risky. Are these pastors truly men of God
or business men capitalizing on people's frustrations? What is
their original calling sef, to compete in worldly riches or to
win souls like it is said?
How can you be living extravagantly when some church
members can't even afford a meal? That is the height of
wickedness. Enough of the deceit, enough of turning the bible
upside down to suit people's ears while they suffer in poverty.
We need spirituality not religiosity. Even with all these
churches at every junction and every bending corner, in every
brothel and hotel, morality is at an all-time low. The church
should be a place for spiritual nourishment and not a kalokalo
venture, or for prosperity preaching. Pastors should
concentrate more on how we should all be our brother's
keepers, rather than praying for us to be rich like them. God
does not operate like a Babalawo, neither is he a Nigerian. I
am wondering if me too won't open my own church (runs
away), but it will be different because I will never use Gods
name in vain. All these our so called Men of God should
come out and hustle like real men and stop using psychology
to deceive people and take their money. Haba!!! I guess that
is their hustle. Where is the humility that Christ talked about?
If anyone is not leading by the examples of Jesus just like the
pope, then his 'Man-of-god-izm' is very questionable. I
thought they said the meaning of Christianity was to be
Christ- like? I'm just wondering. Maybe I'm lost. Abeg, I rest
my case joor. Man of God my ebony ass, who dash dem? I
am even a better BOY of GOD than those MEN OF GOD.
Gbam!
Album Review: KCee Is Not Ready To Takeover
Artiste- KCee
Guest Appearances- Wizkid, Flavour, D'Banj, Davido,
Don Jazzy, Timaya, Mr. Songz, Skiibii, Phyno
Producers- Black Jersey, Del B, Jo Pee, Soso Sobrekon
Record Label- Five Star Music (2013)
Duration- 1 Hour, 1 minute
He isn't the greatest of singers but KCEE has a team that
yields results for him. With Del B on the boards and
Harrysong ghostwriting, the ex-KC Presh singer dropped
his first hit 'Limpopo'. The insanely addictive song took
everyone by surprise and stormed the charts. KCEE has
stuck to this formula on his debut.
The album starts off with 'Hustle Your Way' (kind of how
KCEE got to the top of the music charts). Just like many
other tracks on the album 'Hustle Your Way' is an
imitation of Igbo gospel tracks which a lot of singers from
the East have started using on pop songs. It is a sure
crossover formula. The track 'Ogadinma' uses this formula
too with a twist of storytelling. "Life is not a rice and beans
take it gently, softly softly babe" sings KCee on the song.
This is the kind of writing you should expect when listening
to the album.
'Hakuna Matata' is a throwaway pop track. Songs like this
are all over the project which draws it back. Because they
are so generic you get the feeling you've heard these songs
before. 'Do It' featuring Timaya is one of them. There is
so much you can sing about a woman's body before it gets
corny and tiring. 'Ifeneme' is a boring take on a woman's
physical assets. 'Totori' has a straight up cheesy hook
which you should expect from a singer of KCEE's
qualities.
The album is entirely downhill. But there are some pleasant
surprises. 'Emmah' featuring D'Banj is one of them.
Produced by Del B 'Emmah' is the kind of song that
Nigerians would love to lose their minds to on the dance
floor. 'Had It Been I Known' is a timely detour from the
predictable sound on 'Take Over'. KCEE tries his hands on
Reggae as he delivers a love song that is refreshing to listen
to. It's back to business on 'Ajibole', an Afrobeat
influenced track about a woman who stole KCEE's 'heart
and gold'. While the subject matter isn't new territory for
the artiste, the instrumental, construction gives the song a
nice a boost. The vocals of the featured artiste Skiibii (who
sounds like Wande Coal) helps the song greatly.
'Adaugo' featuring Mr. Songz is one of the songs that
makes KCEE's album listenable. The song would go well
as a soundtrack for Nollywood love movies.
Sadly the good times don't last long on KCEE's album.
'Chineke Di Mma'- is an album filler. 'Vitamin C'
featuring Phyno sounds cheesy but it is something that
should hit home with the millions of trashy pop lovers in
Nigeria. Don Jazzy doesn't add anything to the remix of
#Pull Over'. The original version is one of those songs you
hate to love because you know it is going to be an
inescapable hit.
From the production to guest artistes on his album KCEE is
ready to take over the dance scene in Nigeria.
Unfortunately with his shortcomings he isn't going to take
over music in Nigeria. He is just going to be that guy
whose songs we are going to dance to until the next hot
artiste arrives.

I’ve put myself in front of a mirror, off my clothes … – Lady Gaga
fighting to keep her 'Queen of Pop' crown with a hotly-
anticipated third album, but early reception in the US and
Britain has been lukewarm.
"Artpop" signals a return to the limelight for Stefani
Germanotta — known as Lady Gaga on stage and in video —
after she was forced to tone down her usually ubiquitous
media presence to undergo hip surgery.
"For ArtPop, in a symbolic way, I've put myself in front of a
mirror, I've taken off my clothes, then the makeup, then the
wigs, I've dressed myself with a black jumpsuit and I've told
myself: 'Now, you have to prove you can be brilliant without
all that'", Lady Gaga told the magazine Grazia.
Even before its official release next week, "Artpop" has been
making the headlines.
The 27-year-old New Yorker, who established her reputation
on chart-topping songs and surrounded herself with a constant
media buzz, streamed the new album this week after it was
leaked.
The artist also hinted at an out-of-this-world publicity splash
for the album's official launch — a concert in space.
The US Weekly magazine reported that Lady Gaga plans to
undergo a month of special vocal training to perform in early
2015 aboard the Virgin Galactic, the passenger spaceplane
being launched by British billionaire Richard Branson to
popularise space tourism.
While the third album suggest Lady Gaga's increasing artistic
ambitions, critics in Britain and the US are not so convinced.
"The intention of the album was to put art culture into pop
music, a reverse of Warhol. Instead of putting pop onto the
canvas, we wanted to put the art onto the soup can," Lady
Gaga said in an interview in Britain's Daily Mail.
Lady Gaga has collaborated with a number of world famous
contemporary artists, including Jeff Koons for the album's
artwork, showing her as a post-modern Botticellian Venus.
But on a first hearing "Artpop" returns to familiar themes —
desire, sex, drugs, identity, celebrity, fashion, creativity —
and sounds more like Lady Gaga's previous albums "The
Fame" and "Born this way" than it does a totally new musical
experiment.
"There's certainly some decent pop on Lady Gaga's new
album — but the 'art' part is rather harder to discern", said
the British newspaper The Guardian.
The verdict was echoed across the Atlantic.
"Lady Gaga's latest extravagant exploration of her own fame,
fabulousness and fearlessness is undeniably relentless, but that
doesn't mean it's consistently entertaining," said USA Today.
"Musically, it's as big and bold, unpredictable and diverse as
Gaga herself with enough hooks and ABBA-esque choruses to
keep any pop fan smiling through Christmas and beyond,"
said the online Huffington Post.
"If Gaga wants to be taken seriously as an 'artist' (like all the
arty farty posturing and avant garde styling would suggest)
then she really needs to spend more than five minutes jotting
down the first rhyming couplets that spring to her mind."

Nollywood Star Actress Mercy Johnson! "Take the back sit babe, behind me is where you belong"

more grievous challenge.
Few days ago, she fumed on twitter. She wrote, "Even with

Who is the person dissing Mercy? No one knows who she is

direction of her alleged sworn enemy, Tonto Dike or her
husband's first wife, Lovely Okojie.

SSS operative beats AIT cameraman at Obasanjo son’s wedding
It was both a show of hypocrisy and shame as
an operative of the State Security Service; SSS posted to
Ebonyi State Government House, Abakaliki, Mr. Emeka
allegedly pushed and punched the cameraman of Africa
Independent Television, AIT, in the State, Mr. Chineye
Sunday on the face as he (cameraman) was trying to establish
shots of dignitaries at an event in Ikwo local government area
of the state, Saturday.
The event which was the traditional marriage ceremony of the
former President of Nigeria, General Olusegun Obasanjo's
son, Bisoye Obasanjo and his wife, Chigozie Nwenyi at
Okpuitumo, Ndufu Ikwo Development Centre of Ikwo LGA
was almost ruined, if not for the display of comportment and
maturity exhibited by the AIT cameraman during and
after the attack on him.
Vanguard gathered that Mr. Sunday left the scene of the event
with bruises, swollen face and a damage camera worth over a
N1 million.
Narrating his ordeal, "The thing is that similar incident has
happened before during a function and it was a National
Assembly member, Hon. Tobias Okwuru that had to intervene
in the matter.
After that incident, the next one was the one that happened at
Ikwo during Chief Obasanjo' son's traditional marriage
yesterday (Saturday).
Immediately I entered where dignitaries were and established
my shots the guy (SSS operative) who was at my back pushed
me. When that happened, I now started staggering with
myself and my equipment.
"I went to the guy and asked him, why he did what he did; the
next thing was for him to punch me close to my eyes. It was a
terrible incident that happened before dignitaries and even
before the ADC to the Governor and if it was possible the
ADC would have beaten up the guy but he restrained himself.
"My camera that was damaged is worth over N1 million and I
cannot use it again to cover any function for government or
anybody else until it is repaired or a new one purchased for
me". He lamented.
Speaking with a cross section of journalists in the state, some
of them expressed disappointment over the incident and called
on the state government to deal decisively with the SSS
personnel, if not they would never cover any event involving
the Governor since their
safety cannot be guaranteed.
"We are shocked, embarrassed and humiliated by this
development. This SSS guys are fond of obstructing us from
doing our job both in the Government House and at the
Stadium; and the most annoying aspect of it is that they know
us very well. We are all in the Government House. We are not
strangers to them.
"We wonder who gave them the audacity to attack us. It is
only in Ebonyi State we feel threatened to do our job. These
guys need training and retraining; they shouldn't vent their
angers on us if their condition of service is not acceptable to
them. They should allow us to do our job while they do
theirs. Journalists world over are harmless persons".
Reacting to the incident, the Chairman of Nigeria Union of
Journalists, South East Zone, Mr. Christopher Isiguzo who
stated that he was yet to study the intricacies surrounding the
case, condemned it entirely. He added that the zone would
reach out to State Director of SSS with a view to ensuring that
such development does not occur in future.
Meanwhile, the ADC to Ebonyi State Governor, Mohammed
Tijan, Chief Security Officer, CSO, and Chief Detail appealed
to Journalists in the state to express calm over the incident as
the affected SSS operative would not escape any disciplinary
measure.
However, effort made by Journalists in the State to get the
attention of the SSS operative proved abortive as he did not
want to discuss the matter. Ends

I beat Taiwo Awoniyi to discourage him from football – Dad
striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, said he used to beat his son to
discourage him from playing football.
Awoniyi on Sunday at his Gbagba residence, Ilorin, said that
he never knew Taiwo would play football to global level.
He said the football career of his son started during his
elementary school days, noting that he (Taiwo) would always
disappear from the house to play football and the whole
family would be looking for him.
Awoniyi praised the efforts of Taiwo's coach, Rasaq Olojo,
whom he said discovered and nurtured him.
He said the striker was part of the team that participated in a
Coca Cola competition in Ibadan, which later earned him a
trip to London in 2010, where former Nigerian football stars
Nduka Ugbade and Seyi Olofinjana, spotted him.
He disclosed that Taiwo Awoniyi was voted the most valuable
player and came home with the award from London in 2010.
Awoniyi, a retired Police Officer, said he was happy to watch

(Photo) “How I Fooled My Customers” – Arrested Osun Shrine Operator
in Mobarajo village via Ifewara along Ilesa/Ife express road in
Atakumosa-West Government Area of Osun State for alleged
felony, possession of criminal charms and fake currency, says
he has no regrets of his actions. He has since been granted
bail by the Osogbo Magistrate Court.
The accused, through his counsel Wale Idowu told the Court
he was not involved in dealing with human parts or any other
criminal activities.
Aliyu said he had been in the business for 12 years so he
could make ends meet. Before operating a shrine, he was an
auto electrician, then motor parts dealer, but was "duped."
This is when he decided to take up herbs business, and later,
into defrauding unsuspecting persons in Lagos.
According to him, the shrine for which he was arrested and
arraigned came into existence in January this year with the
procurement of acre of land from one traditional chief in Ile-
Ife inside the thick forest of Mobarajo. The traditional chief in
his confession later became one of the influential personalities
that assisted him in bringing customers from Lagos, Kaduna
and other parts of the country.
Though he was not reported officially by any of his clients or
rather customers, Aliyu claimed that he normally charged
between N300,000 and N400,000 from his customers
depending on the cases for which they are seeking assistance.
The shrine was discovered on 22nd October 2013 around 5pm
by security operatives following a tip-off. It was gathered that
one of the vigilante men in Ile-Ife had a disagreement with his
wife, and the woman moved out of her matrimonial home
along with two of her children without informing her husband.
The man reported the case at the Ile-Ife Area Command from
where a directive was issued that the surrounding bush be
combed along with the vigilante. It was in the process that the
shrine was discovered in the thick forest.
While the shrine was discovered, the woman and two children
had been located where she had gone to meet her relations for
the settlement of the dispute with her husband.
Upon the discovery, Aliyu Mutairu, otherwise called
Aburagbaja, a native of Inisa in Odo-Otin Local Government
Council of Osun told the security operatives that he was only
using the shrine to defraud unsuspecting people.
No corpse was discovered in the shrine, but a live python was
seen inside a coffin Aliyu allegedly constructed to invoke the
spirit that produced fake naira and foreign currencies.
He was also said to be using the shrine to assist people
seeking appointments into high offices, those in dire need of
children and all other sorts of related problems.
Arrested along with Aliyu Mutairu Aburagbaja were Eneji
John (55), Tosin Olalekan (17) and Segun Fakanyi (13). They
were said to be employees working for him in the shrine.
Discovered within the shrine were about 15 huts where his
customers normally stayed or slept whenever they were with
him, underground tunnel, different idols, tombs, naira notes,
fake dollar notes, black native pots, among other items.

other idols in the shrine were meant to terrify his unsuspecting
"customers" to do his bidding by bringing money for
sacrifices to appease the gods to answer their prayers.

into the business, adding that influential people in the society
were those bringing customers for him. He normally had not
