He Tied My Mouth And Raped Me For An Hour, I'm Glad A Bus Hit Him - 12 Year Old Narrates Rape Ordeal

On January 18, 2014, Adeleke, who is an apprentice meat seller at Tinubu Market in Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos, allegedly added his name to a long list of sexual predators walking the streets of Lagos.

That day, which would change the life of 12-year-old Bisola (not real name) forever, was when Adeleke ambushed the young girl and raped her for one hour.

Adeleke was eventually arrested but in his attempt to escape from the police custody, he was hit by a moving vehicle when he ran across the road.

Adeleke's boss supplies meat to Bisola's mother, a food vendor. It was learnt that the suspect had on occasions delivered meat to the girl's mother.

Giving detail of the incident, Bisola narrated;

"I followed a friend to buy sugar in the market (she sells sugar to assist her family) and when I was coming, he (Adeleke) told me to follow him to their shop to collect meat for my mother. I followed him but I did not enter the shop. There was nobody else around. It was after 7pm. He told me to enter but I said he should bring out the meat. He then said I should take the meat from the freezer. As I attempted to open the freezer, he grabbed me and tied a cloth over my face and mouth. "He held me down and pulled off my pants. He did not leave me until around 8.30pm. I could not shout. The place was dark."

The girl paused, her eyes moist with tears as she narrated the story. "I am happy a vehicle hit him," she said.

Bisola was raped for an hour by her estimation. She said she remembered the time Adeleke finally released her because she had to look at the clock on the wall of the shop because she knew her mother would have been looking for her. The young girl rushed out of her captor's embrace bleeding and bruised. But shame and confusion would not allow her to go straight to her mother.

Her mother narrated that on that fateful day, she had expected Bisola to return but when she did not, she retired to bed, thinking that her daughter must have stayed late in her friend's house.

"I heard her enter the house later. But around 3am, she started to sob loudly," she said.

Both mother and daughter live in a small decrepit wooden shack around Gowon Estate.

When the woman went to check on her daughter, she noticed her underwear was soaked in blood. which had started running down her legs. She was about to scream but quickly changed her mind because she was afraid of alerting her husband, Bisola's step-father, to what had happened.

"But by morning, I could not hide it anymore. She told me the person responsible for it and around 5am, we went to report at the Gowon Estate Police Division, Ipaja. The man was later arrested," the woman said.

Bisola was taken to the hospital and a doctor who examined her immediately recommended surgery to repair her damaged private part. After the surgery, she was on admission for two days.

The doctor's report obtained by our correspondent indicated that she was brought to the hospital "bleeding profusely from second degree laceration in her private part and broken hymen."

But a day after the young man was arrested, he was released by the police.

Director of the Esther Child Rights Foundation, Mrs. Esther Ogwu, said she intervened in the matter when the victim's step brother reported the incident to her.

She told Saturday PUNCH, "It was really absurd that he would be released that way. I could not believe that in the face of the increasing child abuse and molestation being reported every day, the police could still release a suspect without promptly charging him to court.

"The girl was raped on a Saturday; by Monday, the man was arrested. But by Wednesday, the family said they went to the police station and were informed by the investigating police officer that he had been released.

"I informed the Lagos Public Advice Centre of the development and officials of the centre contacted the police division. The IPO was forced to rearrest the boy. I just wonder if the police have heard of the Child Rights Act."

One of the reasons for enacting the Child Rights Act in 2003 is to stem the tide of child abuse and molestation in Nigeria and reinforce the legal provision against it.

Adeleke was rearrested and locked up preparatory to his transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.

But the suspect had a different idea. He decided to escape. As soon as the IPO turned her back, Adeleke ran out of the station and was about to cross the road when he was hit by a commercial bus.

Of course, the bus did not stop, as he would later tell our correspondent in the hospital.

An OP Mesa military team, who saw him injured on the road took him to the hospital.

Asked why he decided to escape, he said, "I was just afraid. I did not know that it would become such a serious matter."

But when he was asked why he raped the girl when he could have paid to sleep with a commercial sex worker, he said he did not rape her.

"I did not rape her sir. She is my girlfriend. We have been dating since early last year. She always called me 'okobo' (a Yoruba word for eunuch)," he said.

Bisola's mother would later refute this claim as a concocted story because she only moved to Ipaja with her daughter in August 2013.

Adeleke disputed that Bisola is just 12 years old which makes her a minor.

He said Bisola had told him that she was 18 years old. But when our correspondent met the girl, there was nothing to indicate that a man could be fooled into thinking she could even be up to 15 years old.

The suspect said, "That day, I went to buy fuel and she followed me. When I returned home, I told her to leave but she would not. She was tickling me and calling me okobo.

"I told her to leave and I saw her off but she came back and started tickling me again. I then decided to do it. But when I pulled off her underwear and realised she was still a virgin, I decided to leave her but she started taunting me again. Then I did it. I did not know that she would bleed like that and that it would become a police matter."

When asked why he blindfolded and muffled the girl's mouth with a piece of cloth, Adeleke denied doing that.

The young man, who said he was an indigene of Abeokuta, only finished primary school.

It's been learnt that since Adeleke got to the hospital, his relations had not come to pay for his treatment. The hospital is planning to discharge him prematurely. It was learnt that his treatment had been stopped.

But there is fear that Adeleke might escape if discharged as the IPO had only visited the suspect once.

Adeleke said his mother was late but added that his brother and boss were looking for money to offset his medical bills.

Meanwhile, Bisola's mother and step-father have changed course on the case.

When our correspondent visited them on Sunday, the step-father, who did not hide his anger, said he had no money to prosecute the suspect.

"They should release him. I don't have any money to move around to prosecute anybody. We have spent enough money already. Nobody should come and disturb me again," he said.

Bisola's step-father, who did not seem to be literate, was told that prosecuting Adeleke was not his job but that of the police and that he did not have to spend money.

"What about moving here and there when the police call us or when we need to go to court? The man himself is poor. It is not worth it," he said.

Bisola's mother, who seemed helpless in the face of her husband's attitude, also concurred.

"We spent money on her treatment; we have even incurred debt. We will leave the matter to God," she said.

It’s not enough to get married to a rich man—Angela Okorie

Angela Okorie started out as a model before she delved in the world of make- believe. Her acting career started after 10
years of modeling for Orange Drugs, owners of Delta soap.

Today, she is not only one of the most- sought-after actresses in Nollywood, but also, she's a wife and a mother. In this
interview, she talks about her career, music and her roles as a wife and mother.

What have you been working on recently?

I've been working on a movie. It's a movie that people should watch because it teaches some moral lessons and also
makes us to know that God still exists.

As one of the emerging actresses in Nollywood, are you thinking of becoming a producer some day?

I am planning to go into movie production.
I want to put in my best, so that when people see my movie, they'll appreciate it.
I love entertaining people a lot.

There was a rumour that you wanted to go into music. Have you done any song recently?

I have not done any song, but I've written a lot of them and I will soon hit the studio.
I'm still putting finishing touches to my songs before going to the studio. I'm not going to release just single, I'm planning
to come out big with my album.
This is what I've been doing since my childhood; it wasn't a child's play for me.
I grew up with it. While growing up, I was in the choir, and a soloist in my church. I came back to Nigeria to do modeling and from modeling to acting. So singing has been part of me.
Most times, I sing without instrument and if you listen to me, you'll be convinced that I am a singer.

Most musicians started as gospel artistes.
Are you going to continue with gospel music?

A lot of gospel artistes are actually making it inasmuch as they are not expensive. Once you are contented with what you have, you are okay. It's not really all about money.
Nowadays, most of these gospel artistes are really making it though not as much as the secular ones.
I won't say I'm righteous, some gospel artistes these days want to be identified as 'Evangelists'. I am not an evangelist yet.
My songs are just showing appreciation to God.
I have one CD that I've developed, but I have not released it because I'll have to reproduce it again in the studio. It is
reggae, but it's talking about the world and people suffering. So, it's not going to be all gospel; it also has to do with things
happening around us.

What else should we be expecting from your stable?

In life, it's important for people to understand who they are, their calling and gifts which is from God. It is something
they know they can do. When your gifts are not working out for you, you look for an opportunity, those other things that
would put food on your table. I have a calling for entertainment. Besides that, I hate it when people are humiliated, I like to see people smile, and I like to help.

Are you planning to establish an NGO for the needy and oppressed, or even become a UN Ambassador ?

Yes, an ambassador. But I'm not ready to do it now, but it's all part of my plans and when I bring it out, people will now shout.

Do you think you have compassion for those in need?

Even before I became famous, helping people has been part of me. I visit orphanages often. As a matter of fact, most of the time, I celebrate my birthdays with them.

With all these your engagements, how do you manage your family?

I just have to cope. My husband understands my job. Even before we got married, he's been very supportive. It hasn't been easy, but I just have to cope.

Before going into marriage, most men promise prospective wives heaven and earth. Were you sure your man will fulfill
his promises…?

Some men are better actors than most of us. A lot of them tell lies. Both of you have to sit down and discuss the issue.

There are some men who will tell you to quit your career because they want to marry you. I'm not going to say I didn't
have issues in my relationships before getting married to my husband.

I don't think marriage is supposed to be frustrating. You should marry your friend, your partner and not just anybody that comes your way. You should marry someone who knows you and knows what you want and will encourage you in
whatever you want to do.

But at the same time, because you are married, you need to cut down on some things. As for me, I put my marriage first
before any other thing. No matter how crazy I am, I still try to caution myself. I know I'm a very crazy person and people
like me for who I am. There are certain things my husband would hear about me and he'll get upset.

It's only natural because he's a human being. He's still the man of the house. A man might come to you as an angel, but
when he gets married to you, he becomes a devil. If you can't stay in a marriage, you walk out of it. It's not a do or die affair.

Though the Bible is against it, but then you are dying gradually in marriage. You should save your life first, you are not just living your life for your husband alone.
Other people are watching you.

Most rumours about celebrities are cheap lies. But then if we are not important, they won't talk about us. And those people
talking about us are jobless. As a celebrity, people must talk about you.

I'm not really crazy about controversy, but there is a picture I'm trying to paint for my fans. Though men are polygamous in nature, but I trust my husband so much.
Even if he's doing anything out there, inasmuch as I'm not aware of it, that's enough respect. He hasn't given me any
reason to suspect he's cheating …. I've never caught him with any woman before.

Do you think women should empower themselves before marriage?

Of course! Any woman who goes into marriage without engaging in meaningful thing must be stupid. No matter how
small, let the man see that you are hardworking.

It doesn't make sense for any woman to sit in the house and just be bearing children all the time. You have to look for
something to do to help the man. If a woman is working, there are certain things she doesn't need to ask the man to provide
for. It's not enough to get married to a rich man.
I wouldn't advise any woman to go into marriage without anything. So, if you do not have anything doing; please persuade the man to help you start something.

You are slimming down, how did you do it?

I just eat less, go to the gym, I walk out a bit just to keep fit.

What's your advice to women who want to get back in shape after childbearing?

They shouldn't just sit at home all day and eat. Everyone wants to look trendy and beautiful. That you got pregnant and gave birth to a child doesn't mean you should grow fat and go out of shape.

No, you should be able to get back your shape and maintain your husband's attraction, so that he'll still see the same thing he saw that attracted him to you.

What's the highest fee you've received for acting in a movie?

It was actually when I shot a movie where my head was shaved. I played the character of Anita, the girl who fought for
the widows in the community. I was paid well.

What is the most challenging role you've played in a movie?

There are two movies where I played very challenging roles. In one of them, I was a dumb and blind girl and in the other one I was a vampire.
It was very challenging because it's not the usual everyday story in Nollywood. Imagine a human eating raw goat and
chicken. I had to read and learn a lot more about vampires in order for me to interpret the role excellently.

What's your advice to the up and coming actresses ?

If you're asked to feature in one scene in a movie, that scene is enough to make you.
I'm not crazy about lead roles. It's not really about playing lead roles, it's about interpreting the character excellently.
You just have to put in your best. I was a bit reluctant to act when I started, but now, I earn more than most people who were there before me.

Above all, if you have the grace of God, it doesn't matter if you do it well or not, people will just like you. When I started, I wasn't really good at the job, but I've improved a lot. I don't joke with my job. I'll advice the aspiring actresses to work
on themselves.

A lot of people in the industry are crazy about publicity, even without doing anything or deserving it. I'm not crazy about awards, publicity or controversies; I'm crazy about my job and how to do it well. It's not about being on papers everyday.

I try to put in my best in everything I do to please my fans, because they made me. Nobody will be in the limelight forever, it is the legacy you leave behind that matters.

Do you also watch foreign movies to help boost your interpretation of a character?

I read about them. I watch my own movies a lot in order to know where I need to improve on

I Have No Regrets Writing to Jonathan– Obasanjo

Ex- President Olusegun Obasanjo said he had never regretted writing his scathing letter to President Goodluck Jonathan in December 2013.

OBJ revealed this in an interview to BBC on February 13, 2014, Thursday.

He said that the letter was not meant to be confrontational, but was aimed at drawing the President's attention to national issues.

He said if Jonathan wanted any discussions on their relations, or on any other matter, affecting both of them, his doors would remain open for that.

"Since I wrote the letter, we spoke about six times," Obasanjo said, according to a news item on the BBC Hausa website.

Asked if he regretted writing the letter, Obasanjo said:

"Why should I regret? You only regret when you fail to do the right thing before it's too late. But writing a letter at the right moment, a letter that is the right letter to write, and you wrote it, you should not regret writing that."

It would be recalled that in his letter to Jonathan, Obasanjo accused the President of condoning corruption, parochialism, dishonesty and training a killer-squad. He said Jonathan had promised him previously to do only one presidential term.

But in his response, Jonathan accused Obasanjo of endangering the national security and making false, substantiated allegations.

Veteran Nollywood Actor Lives In Rented Apartment At 74

Just like the popular saying that success has nothing to do with age, such is the case of veteran Nollywood actor, Ola Omonitan-a.k.a Baba No Regrets.

After spending over five decades in the theater/movie industry, the 74-year-old actor cannot boast of a house of his own. In fact, Baba No Regrets is presently living in a rented apartment at Odo Ona in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The boisterous actor, who only last year underwent a successful prostrate cancer operation abroad, is not dejected, according to him, what matters to him now is that he is alive and considerably healthy.

In the past few years, the septuagenarian had battled with prostrate cancer which he said nearly took his life.

Although he appeared to have conquered the disease, the outspoken comedian was out of circulation in the last few weeks of 2013.

Confirming that he is healthy now, he says he was recently on location with the likes of Akin Olaiya and Oga Bello, for Ko se Tu, a movie produced by the latter.

In an attempt to change his fortune, Baba No Regrets said he would be trying his luck in active politics soon.

We can only wish him luck!

7 Good Reasons to Smile More

Believe it or not, but there are many good reasons to smile
more every day! So turn your scowl into a smile! It will give
you absolutely new outlook on your life and will make you
feel happier. Here are seven happy and healthy reasons to
smile more every day!

1. Helps you stress less
Since smiling releases endorphins that make you feel good, it
can also help you reduce stress. Smiling can also help reduce
anxiety and improve mood because your body is not subjected
to negativity a frown emits. So, ladies, smile more and stress
less!

2. Makes you happy
Perhaps you know that smiling can do wonders, even in the
roughest times. The act of smiling sends the messages to the
brain that a person is in a good mood, and that prompts the
release of endorphins, giving a boost of happiness. Smiling is
a great and easy mood-lifter!

3. Because you are alive
This is probably one of the most significant reasons to smile
more every day. Smile, because you woke up this morning
and I think that's something we should be thankful for. Many
people lose their lives every day, hour, minute, and even
second. Show your appreciation and just remember you can
smile only if you are alive!

4. People are more likely to find you attractive
This is certainly one of the reasons I love to smile! Nobody
wants to see people who are constantly frowning everywhere
they go. Do you agree? The thing is that when you smile, you
look confident, sociable and vibrant, and people are more
likely to find you personable and attractive.

5. Because you are beautiful
This may sound cliché, but it's still true. You're beautiful and
you have to embrace it. Smile, you are an amazing woman!
Even if you feel like you are hideous, you are not. There are
people who love the way you look, whether that's your
mother, father, sister, or your future husband!

6. Animals are always a good reason to smile
If you feel down and nothing seems to cheer you up, look at
the pictures of cute animals or hang out with your pet! When I
have a bad mood, I always look at funny pictures of puppies,
kittens or hamsters, and that brings a smile to my face. Try
this out, since animals are one of the best reasons to be happy!
Plus, animals want to be around people with a good energy.

7. You help others smile
Did you know that your smile is actually contagious? When I
see people laughing or smiling, it puts me in a good mood as
well. When someone smiles at you, your muscles maneuver
into a smile too. So smile more every day if you want to
exude positive energy. It will give you a reason to become
more positive person and help other people to be positive as
well!

There are plenty of reasons to smile more, so go out with a
positive outlook and try to find more reasons to smile! What
reasons do you have to smile? Share your thoughts, please!

Windows 8.x reaches 200 million licenses sold

Microsoft marketing chief Tami Reller announced that the
company has sold 200 million Windows 8 licenses in the 15
or so months that it has been on the market.

This number includes only OEM and retail copies of the
operating system and excludes volume licenses. The company
previously announced that Windows 8 had reached 100
million copies sold in May of last year, a rate of sales that
matched Windows 7. That operating system, however,
reached 240 million sales within the first 12 months,
demonstrating that Windows 8 is clearly not selling as fast.

Still, in a PC market that's shrinking—and which started
shrinking even before the release of Windows 8—200 million
copies is perhaps not too shabby. PCs as a whole are not
selling as fast as they were during Windows 7's heyday, and
both Windows and Office are suffering as a result.

As is almost always the case with these numbers, this is a sell-
in figure rather than sell-through, which is to say that it
represents the number of licenses sold to OEMs and retailers
and not the number sold to actual end-users. It also doesn't
account for people using downgrade rights (when available).

Apple and Samsung heading back to court after mediation talks fail, say reports

Apple CEO Tim Cook and Samsung's mobile chief and co-
CEO JK Shin reportedly met last week to try and thrash out a
settlement to their long-running intellectual property dispute.
The meeting, while unconfirmed by either party, is being
reported by multiple Korean news outlets and adheres to the
companies' promise to try and come to an amicable
agreement before resuming their legal antagonism next
month.

Sources indicate that the mediation effort was unproductive,
which comes as no surprise given the history of animosity
between Apple and Samsung and the fact that similar talks
were fruitless back in 2012.

Shin was expected to fly out to the US next week, ahead of a
February 19th deadline for conducting these talks, but
Chosun reports he's presently in Korea and has no plans to
leave the country before that date — suggesting that he has
already been to the US and met with the Apple CEO.

Although Tim Cook has repeatedly expressed his distaste for
legal entanglement, this particular disagreement appears to be
intractable enough to keep the companies returning to the
courtroom time after time.

Anambra Restaurant Served Roasted Human Heads

A restaurant in the Nigerian state of Anambra has been shut
down after the authorities reportedly found it has been selling
dishes made of human meat. The police recovered at least
two fresh human heads when they arrested 11 people from
the restaurant including the owner, six women and four men,
following a tip-off. The blood-soaked heads were found
wrapped in cellophane sheets. Officials have also seized two
AK-47 rifles, other weapons, dozens of rounds of
ammunitions and several mobile phones during the raid.
"Each time I came to market, because the hotel is very close
to the market, I always noticed funny movements in and out
of the hotel; dirty people with dirty characters always come
into the hotel. So, I was not surprised when the police made
this discovery in the early hours of yesterday," a local
resident told the Osun Defender. A pastor, who was shocked
to know that what he had eaten was human meat, complained
to the police.
"I went to the hotel early this year, after eating, I was told
that a lump of meat was being sold at N700 (£2.5), I was
surprised. So I did not know it was human meat that I ate at
such expensive price," the unidentified pastor said.
Reports of cannibalism sometimes emerge in Nigeria, but
this is the first time a restaurant has been booked for selling
human meat dishes.

Luxury Car Dealer Unveils $27,000 Aston Martin for Kids of 10 Years and Over

Aww, this has got to be the most adorable car in the world. The Aston Martin DB Junior is a fully functioning classic petrol-engine sports car for children aged 10 and over. Its design is inspired by 007's legendary Aston Martin DB5 of the 1960s. No machine guns or ejector seats included, though.

So if you fancy seeing your little boy or girl drive a mini- size Bondmobile, all you need to do is bust US $27,000 on it. Guaranteed, it'll burn a rather large hole in your pocket, but the expression on your kid's face – priceless!

Now for the specs: the DB Junior is a convertible, measuring 8 foot 2 inches long, 3 foot 4 inches wide, and 2 foot 5 inches high. It comes with composite coachwork, leather or vinyl seats, a wood-rimmed steering wheel and hydraulic Brembo disc brakes. A key-operated electric starter ignites the 110 cc four-stroke petrol engine linked to a semi-automatic 3-speed gearbox. The top speed is 46 mph – this can be restricted downwards.

But the mini supercar isn't just for kids, it can accommodate anyone aged from 10 to 80 plus. The fully adjustable pedal box allows room for drivers up to 6 foot tall. "You'd be surprised at how well the DB Junior is engineered, and how much room there is in the cockpit," said Nicholas Mee, managing director of a London-based Aston Martin Heritage dealership.

"It's big enough for an adult and the pedals can be adjusted
so that the DB Junior will fit a wide range of drivers. Let's
say junior drivers of all ages." Drivers will also have full
use of indicators and lights.

"When we first saw the DB Junior, we couldn't stop smiling," Mee said. "We then realized that these scaled- down 1960s convertibles would complement full-sized offerings here in our showrooms. What's more, we regularly have enquiries from our clients looking for something unusual and different to add to their collection of classics."

The DB Junior is named after former Aston Martin boss, David Brown. The car is exclusively available at Nicholas Mee & Co, and can be purchased directly from stock or
specially commissioned for bespoke treatment. According
to a spokesperson for the dealership, "Customers can choose from a wide-ranging palette of colors and trim that can even be matched to a full-size Aston already in the family."

"We hope we will be welcoming a new generation of
customer: younger, but no less discerning, and like their
parent looking for the ultimate in performance and
handcrafted style."

Unfortunately, the DB Junior cannot be driven on public highways, so driving is strictly restricted to private land or
racing tracks. But picture this: a kiddie couple driving all
the way from the front gate to the backyard for a first date!
How cute is that?

9 Best Ways to Feel More Secure

It's not a secret that almost every person would like to feel more secure. For some people that can be really difficult. But, in fact, it is possible for everybody to be more self-confident. Sure, this is not so easy unless you are patient and work hard. If a person follow some certain tips one will certainly gain more confidence in a very short time. Check out a few powerful ways to feel more secure.

1. Change bad sides of your life and personality
When people don't like something in their life the best way
out is to change that for better. However, many people can
just speak about their failures and problems. You should work
hard to improve yourself, change your life for better. It's very
important that you must believe in yourself and your abilities.
Everything is possible for everybody. You just need a great
desire. If you don't try, you will never see the result. We
should not prevent ourselves from success!

2. Tell yourself daily that you are a confident woman
Here is the most useful recommendation about how to gain
more confidence. You should make a rule to tell yourself
about your ability to reach everything in this life. Remind
yourself of your security all the time. We should love
ourselves, keep in mind good and pleasant words about our
personality. As a result we can prove the truth of these words.
When people don't feel confident about themselves they never
feel secure.

3. Always keep on smiling
Smiling is the easiest way to change your mood for better. Try
to smile at every opportunity – when you just meet with
people, when people are good with you or at least when
looking in the mirror. This will certainly improve your feeling
and you will see how good and nice person you are.

4. Remember that others are not perfect
Nowadays we can meet a lot of people who can be rude and
not kind to others. They can be mean with you even without a
reason. So to feel more confident, try to get used to that fact.
Never make yourself guilty in all bad things, which happen in
your life. That is the nature of such people and we can't alter
their perception of reality. If somebody bothers you, keep in
mind that problem is in them not in your personality. We
should always remember how nice and wonderful we are.

5. Think about good aspects of your life
We should never think about bad sides of our life and faults
which we can have. Every person can have some defects.
Nobody is perfect in this world and everybody has a right for
mistakes. We must learn from our bad experience, since it can
help us in future not to make them again. You should always
concentrate only on good sides of your life and positive traits
of your character. Try to make yourself better in all spheres of
life, enrich your knowledge, qualities and skills. You have
everything for that.

6. Only you can know yourself perfectly
People who are not kind and insincere can try to bother you
and influence your self-esteem. But never mind them. You
know yourself better than others. Sometimes you can feel bad
because people criticize you, but remember it is not the
criticism of your personality just some of your actions. It is
possible that others can understand your behavior wrong. And
certainly that doesn't mean you made mistakes. As many
people live in this world as many different thoughts and points
of views they can have. As a result there is always way to
misunderstanding between people.

7. Everyone can have problems with self-confidence
Never think that only you have some problems with security
and confidence. You are not the only one who has such
feelings. The difference is that some people don't care so
much about those feelings. Always remember that someone
can help you in any situation. For example, they can give you
a piece of advice. You can also learn from others how to cope
with your low self-confidence and be more constructive about
your feelings.

8. Treat others good
It can seem to you that some people don't like you so much
and this is why it is very difficult to treat them with respect.
Even if you think in this way, don't show that to anybody,
and try to treat them good. Perhaps their bad behavior is just
the way to get more confidence. In such way they protect
themselves from negative influence of others. You should be
easy-going and respectful with everybody, no matter what
they think about you. Sure, there are different circumstances
when we can't feel confident about ourselves. But we can
always improve our feelings. All people can't be the same,
you should enjoy your personality.

9. Plan your future
When you make a decision to change something in your life
it's very important to plan your future ahead. Try to think
what you want to happen in your life in a few years and make
your thoughts real. Always keep in mind that we can't change
our past but surely we can change our future. You should do
everything possible to reach your aim. You learn to get
pleasure from every success in your life even if it is small.
Always believe in your abilities, don't mind others if they say
you can't do something. Just set goals and make your dreams
come true!

Sometimes it can be difficult to feel secure, but try to be
yourself and stay always positive! Do you have any other tips
on how to feel more secure? Feel free to share them with us!

7 Effective Ways You Need to Be Better at Everything

It is a natural desire of every person to be better than other at
anything, even if it is such a trifle. But some of us just
underestimate our abilities and give up the fight. Many people
think that they lack some skills or traits of character, and
finally they become so desperate, that an inferiority complex
appears. Abandon such thoughts! Of course, you can`t be
always and in everything better than others, it`s impossible.
But you can take pains to be at least not the worst than others.
Do you accept the challenge? Here is what you have to do in
the first place.

1. Review everything
Although it's not that easy as it sounds, you should revise
what you write, or read, recheck what you do, put in or out,
what you promise, include, exclude, etc. When you do so it
means that you have everything under control, and which is
more important, you always keep your words and promises.
No errors will be found if you stick to this principle, and
when you are not afraid of taking some responsibility.

2. Ask for help
Too much of self-assurance is never good, and asking for help
won`t do you any harm. Mind that the person you are asking
for help should be trustworthy and competent. Giving a
concrete task will just make the thing easier. You must know
whom exactly you want to get help from and be certain what
they can help with. If you are not sure whether you do it right
or wrong, you`d better ask somebody to show, or explain it to
you. It`s better than if somebody will spend hours correcting
your mistakes. Bear in mind that when you put off some tasks
in a huge pile, it will still be you who has to make it out.

3. Keep everything under control
I advise you to have a small note-book or organizer so that
you can plan and control all your activities. Then it will be
easier to follow all your deadlines, commitments and
requirements. Don`t feel shy to ask questions about such
things. When you know the terms, requirements and time-
frames you can`t fail with that.

4. Be a lifelong learner
Getting your degree and being employed don't mean you
should give learning. Revise what you already know, search
for new better ways to get the job done, go with the times.
There are many things that you don`t know. Since all kinds of
information are generally accessible, it won`t be a problem.
Books, websites, newspapers, talks to competent people will
open a lot of unknown for you. As you keep learning you
never stop to develop, and, eventually, you`ll never be in the
background.

5. Monitor the quality
Would you bare second-rate work from others? Don`t allow it
to yourself! Everything you do should meet the standard and
be according to certain rules or set pattern. You will see
people will respect you for that. Moreover, you will feel
yourself confident, and this will prove that you're a real
professional at what you do.

6. Think big
Everyone faces numerous problems every day, but only a wise
person never takes rapid decisions, but looks at the bigger
picture. It is not an easy way, but the habit comes with
practice. Look in future and see the perspective. You will get
convinced that it is far more effective way of solving
problems with less risk of making wrong decisions.

7. Be big
Thinking big is not enough, you know. You should also set
the requirements to yourself, and all the time strive to exceed
your personal expectations as well as of other people. Know
what you have to do and look for improvement. Believing in
your own powers is of great importance. And that feeling
when you exceed the expectations can`t be described by
words, you just have to feel it. Learn to be better than you
have been before, and eventually you will be able to boast
being better than others.

Sure, these are only some of the main ways to be better and
better. The general principle is to develop, never stop at what
has been accomplished, and learn to surpass yourself. Share
your ideas of how to be better at everything. I`m eager to
know!

Google Wants to Give Us 10 Gigabit Fiber Within Three Years

Google' Fiber is mighty fast at 1 gigabit per second, but the
company is working to pick its speeds up by a factor of ten.
At a conference earlier this week, Google's Chief Financial
Officer Patrick Pichette explained that its coming fiber
networks should boast speeds of 10 gigabits per second,
reports USA Today. The next-gen networks are, according
to Pichette, part of the company's "broader, long-term
obsession with speed." Those networks should, apparently,
allow for far broader use of software as a service—because
the speeds will be reliable enough to trust for far more
critical applications.

Of course, there are faster example of real-world internet,
but none of them are being rolled out at rates comparable to
Google's efforts in Kansas City and, soon, Austin, Texas. In
fact, Pichette exclaimed "why wouldn't we make it available
in three years? That's what we're working on. There's no
need to wait." So even if it ain't 1 terabit per second, it'd do
us just fine, thank you very much. [USA Today]

PlayStation 4 beats out Xbox One as the best-selling console

In the battle for the best-selling console, Sony's PlayStation 4 has come out on top -- beating Microsoft's Xbox One -- for the month of January.

Research firm The NPD Group released new data on Thursday
showing that hardware sales were up 17 percent to $241 million in January compared to the same time last year.
However, since January 2013 was five weeks and January 2014 was four weeks -- normalized sales of gaming hardware shows a 47 percent increase. And, PlayStation led these sales.

"PS4 led overall hardware sales this month, followed by the Xbox One," The NPD Group's Liam Callahan said
in an e-mail. While The NPD Group didn't go into
specific numbers, Bloomberg reports that PlayStation 4 sales were nearly double those of Xbox One. This is a reverse from December when Xbox One sales reportedly were higher than
PlayStation 4.

As far as sales of video games, the numbers are a bit bleaker. Total sales of physical games fell 21 percent from last year to $664 million, according to The NPD Group. However, if digital downloads, used games, social networking games, and rentals are included consumers spent roughly $1.05 billion in January. Additionally, normalizing the sales for 2013's five-
week period, game sales appear to be down just 1 percent.

The top five best selling games for January were Call of Duty: Ghosts, NBA 2K14, Battlefield 4, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, and Grand Theft Auto V, respectively.

Data released by The NPD Group earlier this week showed that the US video game market appeared to be stuck in a holding pattern in 2013.
While there weren't any significant declines in consumer spending throughout the year, growth tallied up just 1 percent.
However, that's better than years past, since it was the first
time the market had experienced growth in the last two years.

Google doodle for Valentine's tells real, beautiful love stories

You've booked the restaurant. It'll be overpriced. You've sent the flowers.
They'll be overpriced too.
What happened to the best things in life being free? Or at least less than bank-breaking?
But wait. Here is Google whispering in your ear: "Listen. True love exists."
And so you go to Google's home page (in the US) where you'll find a Valentine's Day doodle that makes you believe in love. Yes, for free.
Six candy hearts are arranged where the logo used to be. There's "Crush,""Mr. Right," and Blind Date," to name but three.
Click on any of them and you'll hear a love story, taken from public radio's " This American Life," of a real human
being.
For example, "First Kiss" talks about two "friends" who knew they were more than that. It was time for the first kiss. Yet how would it happen?
Would it happen at all? I will leave you to find out how love's true path might meander.
The narrator of "4Ever Yours" begins: "Warning. This one gets a little heavy."
What follows is a beautiful tale of one man's marriage to another, at the age of 45. He felt astonishing adrenaline.
Then he realized that this perfect love will end one day. He couldn't bear the thought. I wonder how much of it you'll be able to bear before you cry.
"Puppy Luv" features the line: "Chris, will you go out with me?" That's all I remember of that one.
The different kinds of love expressed here have far more intensity and value than any number of heart-shaped cards
and boxes of chocolates.
If you are lucky to spend your Valentine's with your quintessential hero or heroine -- or at least someone who might end up that way -- may the day add to your story.

EU Parliament Rejects Asylum For Snowden

"Euronews reports, 'MEPs have rejected a demand from the European Green Party that urged EU governments to grant asylum to whistleblower Edward Snowden . The move came during the adoption of a European Parliament committee inquiry into the NSA spying scandal. As Claude Moraes, a centre-left British parliamentarian, explains, member states have the final say over who they allow to remain inside their borders.
"The European Union does not have the power to grant asylum as the European Union, so this is something for
individual member states," he told euronews. "And the issue of asylum within this report therefore does not
become a relevant issue for the European Union."'"

Nintendo to add more NES remixes, GameBoy Advance titles to Wii U this Spring

Unless you still own a GameCube GameBoy Player, it's probably been awhile since you've seen a GameBoy Advance title up on the big screen. Come April, that could change: Nintendo announced today that the Wii U eShop will start carrying GBA classics this Spring, starting with Metroid Fusion, Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3 (both of which were 3DS Ambassador bonuses, by the way) and Mario & Luigi:
Superstar Saga. Naturally, Japan's getting a similar pen of classic releases, but its library of pending GBA games includes Mario Advance 2, Wario Ware, Golden Sun, F-Zero and Advance Wars -- Japanese gamers were also teased with a price-point: ¥650 a pop (about $6.35).

If that's not enough nostalgic news to tide you over, Nintendo did have /one/ more thing to announce.
Remember when Nintendo cherry-picked specific moments from a ton of classic NES games and released them in a mini-game bundle a few months back? It's at it again: NES Remix 2 is everything the original downloadable title was, but to a collection of NES classic picked from later in the original Nintendo's life cycle. This means there will be remixed and scripted challenges from games like Punch-Out!!!, Super Mario Bros. 3 and Metroid. The new Remix also includes a
"new" full-game titled Super Luigi Bros. -- essentially a mirrored version of the NES classic with Mario's younger brother in the starring role. When was the " Year of Luigi" supposed to end again?

Skype rival Viber purchased by Japanese e- commerce giant for $900 million

Japan's answer to Amazon, Rakuten, has just got into the mobile communications business by purchasing internet calling app-maker Viber for $900 million.

Viber was one of the first to introduce 3G VoIP on the iPhone, and now lets you call any land-line or mobile phone, send messages and even push-to-talk. The app is available on all major mobile and desktop platforms, and is one of Skype's biggest rivals with over 300 million users worldwide.

According to the WSJ, Viber's global userbase helped draw Rakuten, which is trying to expand its business interests beyond Japan's shores. It also recently purchased a huge stake in Pinterest and bought e-reader maker Kobo. Rakuten's CEO confirmed that Viber "perfectly compliments" its goals and said the acquisition "will enable it to penetrate new markets
with multiple digital content offerings."

LG's extra-large G Pro 2 packs a 4K video camera and knock code unlock feature

Looks like LG wants to get out ahead of all the smartphone news soon to come from Barcelona at Mobile World Congress, as the South Korean company has officially announced the G Pro 2. As prior leaks indicated, it's a larger version of the original G Pro -- it packs a 5.9-inch screen, as opposed to its predecessor's 5.5-inch panel. That means the G Pro 2 matches Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 in terms of size and it packs the same 1,920 x 1,080 resolution display.

Additionally, it has an evolution of the G Pro's knock-to-unlock feature that allows you to unlock and power up the
phone by tapping on the screen in a specific cadence. LG's latest also has an optically stabilized, 13- megapixel camera and 32GB to store your photos and any 4K or 120 frames per second HD video you can shoot. Plus, it'll ship with Android's latest version 4.4 (KitKat) and can be had in three colors: white, silver and black. Naturally, LG has declined to give us a price or a ship date for its new flagship here in the States, but hopefully they'll give up all those details and more at
MWC.

Google deems Android ready for more Chromecast apps, let the floodgates open

With Google's latest update to Play Services, it shouldn't be long before the Chromecast section of its app store gets a little more lively. Now that the Android SDK has support for the HDMI dongle baked in, developers can add the functionality to virtually any app they want, at-will. Google opened access to the streaming stick's inner workings earlier this month, but,
as Phandroid tells it, the search giant asked devs to hold onto their releases until the public's phones and tablets had the framework, too. Now that it's out, swaths of cast-capable apps could start hitting the Play store relatively quickly. It may have taken longer than some expected, but Google's plan to embed the casting tech across an array of devices has finally come to fruition -- and the users stand to reap the rewards.
