Rihanna is Number 1 in Touring Revenue Ranks

While Kanye West is canceling shows because of poor ticket sales, Rihanna is selling out concerts. Her Diamonds World Tour has been ranked No.1 in touring revenue...

From Billboard

Rihanna ranks at No. 1 on Hot Tours with sales reported from her Diamonds world tour.
The Diamonds tour, in support of Rihanna's 2012 album Unapologetic, kicked off on March 8 in Buffalo, N.Y. and played U.S. and Canadian arenas through May 7, closing with a packed house at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. With revenue from the European dates added, the tour's overall gross passed the $100 million mark from more than 1.2 million sold tickets.

Following the run through Europe, the Barbadian singer spent September and October on brief jaunts through markets in Asia, Australia/New Zealand and South Africa as well as stops in Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv. She is currently on the road for a final North American trek that wraps on Nov. 15 in New Orleans.

A Must Read! Nollywood movie director Charles Novia Tongue-Lashed Controversial Maheeda

Nollywood movie producer, Charles Novia will always
have a say on every matter and this time, it's about the
controversial Maheeda, who has been topic of discussion
on social media because she was always posting erotic
photos of herself online.

He has voiced out his thoughts on the self acclaimed gospel
singer's weird behavior.
He wrote this article titled: "Maheeda's maladjustment".

Read article below:
In the past few months, some prominent and other
bandwagon bloggers have been inundating the social
media space with inappropriate pictures of a confused
personality called Maheeda. From scanty information
available about the lady, she used to be a prostitute who
got 'converted' into Christianity and later released a
Gospel album or some singles. Somehow, she decided to
straddle the pop culture horse and brought out some nifty
singles and videos which found backwater acceptance on
Youtube.

Maheeda is also reported to be married to a white dude
and she is presumed to be presently living in a European
country with the man and her daughter (or divorced or
seperated from him as some reports say) I took little pains
to do this background research on her so as to be well-
informed about the next few points I would make about
her behaviour.

Somehow, Maheeda started posting suggestive pictures of
her body on her instagram page which caught the interest
of Nigerian bloggers. Since blogging is generally an
acceptable form of lazy journalism and tittle-tattling in
Nigeria, Maheeda's pictures got the desired attention she
wanted. Either by a covert or overt payment to leading
bloggers to keep her in the news (as it is wont in Nigerian
cyberspace) or a calculated ploy to garner more hits to
their sites, the bloggers went all the way out with more
indulging pictures of the young lady. And she was ever
willing to give more and cheerfully too with no intention
by me to denigrate her past profession by this phrase.

From suggestive pictures of her near unclad body parts,
the young lady went on a visual spree of debased pictures
of herself and with the lecherous or amused oogling of
social media commentators, she finally threw whatever
was left of her indiscreet womanhood and posted wanton
naked pictures of herself on instagram. Blogosphere went
crazy in Nigeria with repressed hypocrites heaping
accolades or abuses at her or ravished reprobates asking
her to carry on!

Instagram finally had enough a few days ago and deleted
her account for good for crossing boundaries of
(in)decency, perhaps.

It is instructive to psycho-analyse negative trenders such
as Maheeda who have decided to gain cheap or
compulsory notoriety by posting pictures of their
nakedness on social networks. Granted, there were others
before her based in Nigeria or somewhere in America ,
some older Nanny Goats who threw decorum to the wind
as well and posted pictures of drooping breasts and
disgusting backsides in a bid to gain unfathomable
attention. Did Maheeda learn from them? Or did she
decide to improve on their art ( or rather, their tart!)?.

Whatever the reasons are, we all should be worried about
this growing trend where shamelessness and wanton
exposure of Nigerian women is fast becoming the order of
the day. The children see all these things and I shudder to
think of what is going to happen in our social space in a
few years. A replication or cloning of millions of

Maheedas and her likes is probably inevitable. Oh yes,
there are some who would react angrily to the fears I have
expressed here and post comments under 'Anonymous'
name tags on some blogs where this article would find
amplification and vilify me and not my points. For such
missing links, you are entitled to your putrid opinions in
the closets of your anonimity where cowards and bullies
find voice. But the fact remains that you who support and
urge the Maheedas of this clime to carry on with the de-
mystification of all that is dear and sacrosanct
womanhood, are no better than she is. You are intertwined
in the pugnancy of her putrid purpose. You both are
destroyers of the last remnants of the African woman's
mystique and majesty. You support and encourage her to
destroy your children's moral future. That is just the plain
truth.

I may not know much about psychology or psychosis
but I am willing to bet that Mrs Maheeda is in the
early stages of bi-polarism. It is possible that she is
using the pictures to Jekyll and Hyde her mental health
issues. Mercifully, she lives in a Western society where it
is only a matter of time where her total sanity would be
called to question.

But if Maheeda is not ill, then what is her plan? Is she
possessed by a legion of seventy times seven demons after
her earlier conversion to Christianity? Or is she just being
plain silly? If she is being silly, then the blogs and
websites which amplified her silly whims have a moral
question to answer.

But Maheeda is not the only by-product of a jaundiced
country. We have her likes in the National affairs of this
country. Only, those types don't have to post their pictures
for us to see. They are already naked dancers in the
ruinous chambers of national leadership. They and the
mad ones before them inflicted the pain on the social fibre
of Nigeria which Maheeda was unfortunate to grow up in.

Their naked dances of greed and corruption turned
Maheeda and millions like her into Prostitutes to eke a
daily living. Maheeda could well be paying back the
society with her nakedness, spoiling the children of the
new Nigeria as a vengeance eats her. She just might be
saying, ' as una spoil my life, me sef go spoil una pikin
own'. And stupidly the children of her vengeful mission
oogle and applaud.

It is not also far-fetched too that Maheeda might be using
the naked pictures of herself as a new form of visual
prostitution. Selling her body , now revamped and
refurbished in a new clime, to her former clients as if to
call them out. She might be saying, 'You can't have this
now. I have gone to another level'.

Indeed, she has reached a new level. An all-time low of
self-destruction in a gradual process. But knowing the
society in which I live and where she comes from, her
destruction may be pyrhic: the sick social society would
soon invite her to red carpet functions and events. Soon,
she just might be signing autographs and strutting societal
streets of false adulation.

Then she would have have the last laugh. Or perhaps
maybe society and fate have one last wince to elicit from
her.

Time has a way of telling, though.

Three men gang rape 15 year old girl in Lagos

Three men have allegedly gang-raped a 15-year old girl at the
Ikorodu area of Lagos, as the police are alleged to be
threatening the victim's parents to settle the matter out of
court.
The state government had earlier blamed the police for
frustrating rape cases by threatening victims and their families
to withdraw their cases. Two of the men have been arraigned
at one of the newly established Family Courts in Ikeja for
allegedly raping the girl.
The suspects are being tried by the Lagos State Office of the
Public Defender, OPD, while the third suspect is still at large.
It was learnt that the victim was lured to No 23, Fola
Mustapha Street, in Ajegunle area of Ikorodu by her
classmate (name withheld), a 16-year old girl, on the pretext
that she wanted to return a text book which she had earlier
borrowed from the victim.
The victim was deceived by her friend who had already
arranged with the three suspected rapists to have sex with her
forcefully. The three suspects; Yusuf Mohammed, Rasheed
Oyedepo and Tunde were alleged to have inflicted bodily
injury on the girl (name withheld).
It was gathered that the raped girl's friend deliberately
delayed her classmate for hours and enabled the heinous crime
by putting on the generator set, on the pretext that she needed
to charge her phone.
According to the OPD , the victim wanted to take her leave in
annoyance when it was getting too late for the her to return
home, but her friend told her to wait for a while before taking
her to a new room where she was raped in turns by the gang.
While taking turns to rape the girl, the noise from the
generator and the music they were playing prevented the
people outside from hearing the screaming and wailing of the
girl. On getting home in a bad condition, the girl's mother
took her to a private clinic for medical attention.
She was taken to Ikorodu General Hospital for proper medical
treatment, where it was discovered that her womb had been
tampered with at the private clinic.
The victim was in a critical condition as she was admitted in
the hospital for three days while undergoing blood
transfusion. A new twist has, however, been added to the
story as the police has transferred the suspects, whose cases
are already in court, to the State Criminal Investigation
Department, SCID, Panti for investigation, an act the OPD
described as unlawful.
It was gathered that the police had gone to the girl's family
threatening the mother for taking the case to OPD, after which
they transferred the suspects to SCID, Panti. It would be
recalled that the government has established a clinic where
DNA tests will be conducted on rape victims and suspected
rapists to enhance prosecution of the cases.

Bimbo Thomas says she regrets sending nude photos to ex- lover

Actress Bimbo Thomas granted an interview recently to The
Nollywood Reporter, where she admitted sending nude photos
to a married ex-lover. Bimbo says it's one the big mistakes of
her life.
"Yes, I have been in love before and I have been involved
in relationships I thought was love but wasn't.. There was
this relationship I thought would lead to the altar. I was
committed to it and the guy was committed too but it still
didn't work out. We are still friends though. When I came
out of that relationship, I didn't want to date again. I just
wanted to be left alone but you know women and love; I
found another guy, he was the kind of guy one will call a
gentleman. I fell in love with him; I could do anything for
him. I even made a mistake that still tugs at my
conscience till date; I sent him my nude photos.
Looking back now, it was one mistake too many
especially when I realized the guy was deceiving me as he
was married with children. I cried and cried! I almost gave
up on everything thing but God kept me."
On asking why she made such a stupid mistake, she replied,
"Yes, it is a stupid mistake but you know celebrities are
humans too. We hurt, we laugh, we cry, we love, we grief
and do everything every other human being does. We fall in
love and make mistakes. Though we fall down like the Bible
would say, but we can't stay down, we get up and keep
forging ahead. Many guys that approach femalecelebrities
have evil intentions."
Responding to questions on if she will gladly date again, the
Omo Ghetto star said she will but will approach the subject
cautiously. "Dating is now something I dread. I don't think I
will give up on love but the next guy might pay for the sins of
others." She said amidst laughter laced with vengeance. We
can't help but pray God helps the next guy.
Bimbo Thomas, a graduate of creative art from the University
of Lagos, came into the industry a few years ago and after a
series of small roles, became a household name, thanks to
"Omo Ghetto", a Yoruba movie produced by popular Actress
cum Producer, FunkeAkindele.

actor, Jim Iyke's true intentions for Ghanaian actress, Nadia
Buari, then it is time to hold your peace, as the now born
again Jim has come out to say that he intends to marry Nadia
because his family members love and adore her.
Jim's stand has now become necessary as many fans of Nadia,
especially in her home country, do not believe that he will
marry her in the end, as some see him as a serial heart breaker
who has used and dumped many ladies. But the one-time bad
boy of Nollywood movies has responded, saying that he has
finally come to the point where he knows he must settle
down, as he loves Nadia with all his heart.
Jim has this to say; "Yes we have discussed marriage. But we
are taking it one step at a time. I am actually at a point where
starting a family is becoming an attractive proposition. Nadia
and I have been to Nigeria and my family members love and
adore her."

Mercy Johnson Banned From Acting in any Nollywood movie

Actress Mercy Johnson has been banned from acting in any
Nollywood movie due to the huge amount she charges for
movies.A colleague of hers told us that she's paid 4 to
5million per movie. Association of Movie Producers(AMP)
and other stakeholders in the movie industry decided to call
her to order by slamming a ban that will deter others from
charging exorbitant fees like her .Concerned fans in Nigeria
have called on the Actors Guild AGN to resolve the matter.
Most feel a ban is capital punishment and they should rather
reach a compromise on how much is dimmed exorbitant and
inform actors not to charge above the stipulated amount.
Good luck to Mercy! Maybe it's time to move to Hollywood.

How armed robbers drove us to bank and forced us to withdraw money from the ATM - Victims

Julius Adegun had on Saturday, September 21, 2013, boarded a commercial bus from Abule-Egba, on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expresssway, around 10.30pm.

He was heading to Iyana-Ipaja but had no idea he had boarded the bus with a three-man gang of robbers. The events that unfolded later were to confound him because it was one he had never heard of.

"I had heard of robbers waylaying people after they had used the ATM before. I had even heard of people being ambushed immediately they were about to use the ATM and forced to withdraw certain amount of money by robbers. But I never imagined I would be a victim of this kind of robbery," he said.

He told sources there were already nine passengers in the 14-seater bus apart from the driver as at the time he boarded.

The bus had moved about 10 minutes when it got to a bank on the expressway towards Iyana Ipaja and the robbers promptly swung into action, he said.

"One of the robbers, who had posed as the conductor all along turned towards us and asked, 'Hope you all have your ATM cards?' He spoke in pidgin. Nobody seemed to be listening to him because we did not realise what was happening at first.

'Then he said to the driver, 'Alaye, enter that bank.' That was when I started to connect the dots in my head. We started protesting, asking why they would be stopping in front of a bank at that time of the night.

"Clearly, the driver was a part of the gang. One of the robbers who had sat quietly at the back of the bus with one other passenger shouted at us. He said, 'Shut up! Just cooperate peacefully and you will be on your way. He pointed a locally made pistol at us."

Adegun said after the robbers had told them to bring out their ATM cards or risk being shot, some of them promptly did. But two passengers - a young man and a woman - who said they had no ATM card on them were slapped many times as they were being searched.

Eventually, five of them had ATM cards on them at the time.

"One of the robbers took us in turn to the ATM and asked us to put in our Personal Identification Numbers. They withdrew everything that each of us had in the account.

"I had N43,000 in my account. They first checked the account balance and withdrew N40,000. I was initially praying that the ATM would not work that day but unfortunately it did.

"The other victims too were robbed of almost all they had in each of their accounts. A young man with us actually said he was supposed to use the N80,000 in his account to buy tyres for his boss the following morning. But everything was withdrawn. He was the one they robbed of the highest amount."

He said they could not raise the alarm because the robber with the gun threatened to shoot anyone that attempted to make any noise.

Asked if they reported to the police after the robbery, he said after the robbers took them into a street off the major road and asked them to disembark, he immediately called a police distress line he had on his phone.

"The details of the robbery, the number of victims, and the description of the vehicle were taken by the person who answered the call. The police promised to alert the patrol team in the area but I don't know what happened after that," he said.

Asked if he was able to get the vehicle's number plate, he said it was too dark for him to be able to make out the number.

This method of using commercial buses seems to make it easier for the robbers to rob a higher number of people at once rather than staking out ATM terminals.

Robberies at ATM are not new in Lagos. There have been many reports of ambush at ATM terminals where customers are asked to withdraw money at gun points.

A victim, Mr. Funso Aina, told of how he was once robbed at gun point at the ATM terminal of a bank on Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, Ikeja around 9.30pm on September 23, 2013 when he was coming back from work.

Aina told our source, "That night, I parked and got out but I noticed a young man at one of the four terminals at the bank. I actually thought he was also trying to withdraw money.

"But as soon as I withdrew money, he pulled out his phone and spoke into it. He turned to me and put a gun to my head. He said, 'Give me the money' and grabbed it even before I handed it to him.

"As that was taking place, another young man had approached, who must have been the one the first one was speaking to on the phone. The second man put a gun to my side and asked me to withdraw some money. 'N50,000! N50,000!' he told me.

"But I calmly explained that I would withdraw the money but they should understand that I could not withdraw N50,000 at once. But as I pressed the buttons on the ATM, one of them quickly pressed it himself and withdrew N10,000. As he attempted to withdraw more money, the ATM stopped working."

Aina said the robbers got N20,000 from him in total. He said they also took away his BlackBerry phone.

He did not report to the police.

"You know how the police would ask you to come back everyday; I did not want such stress. If the robbers took something sensitive like my identity card or something of that nature for example, I would have reported," he said.

He said his experience had since made him wary of using ATM at night.

Spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Ngozi Braide, said she had not got a report to indicate if this trend is on the rise in Lagos.

She said it does not help the police when victims of crimes do not report them to the police.

Braide said, "Making reports at the nearest police station when something like that happens allows us to have a record. It also gives us leads to go on with in our investigation.

"It is always important for victims of robberies like those in the commercial bus to try and get the number plates of the vehicles used by the robbers. Armed security men are supposed to be at the banks where these ATMs are sited.

"Banks should try and put adequate lighting around their ATMs to discourage robbers."

But Aina said he was robbed in a well lit open ATM gallery.

Reason why I don’t sleep with my female fans - Badoo, Olamide

Artist Rapper, Olamide Adedeji keeps pushing the boundaries in the Yoruba rap genre in the Nigerian music industry using a style of delivery made popular by late music superstar, Da Grin.

In this Sun Newspapers interview, the talented rapper who is also a final year student of the Tai Solarin University speaks on his growing up, music, relationship with popular producer, I.D Cabasa, and rumoured affiliation with the Illuminati, believed to be a secret society.

Read excerpts from the interview below:

Could you tell us about yourself?

My name is Olamide Adedeji. I'm a native of Abeokuta, Ogun State. I was born and bred in Bariga, Lagos. I'm a student of Tai Solarin University where I'm studying Mass Communication. I'm from a family of seven.

How did you start out as rapper?

I discovered music was in me while growing up. In 2003 I started writing my own lines and performing at shows and the rest today is history.

What was growing up like?

Growing up was not that rosy neither was it that bad. Growing up in the ghetto was quite challenging because you're looked down on by kids from upscale neighbourhoods. In the ghetto I was given ghetto orientation which is never to look down on myself no matter what.

Tell us about your love life?

I have nothing to say about that.

Late Dagrin seemed to have influenced you a great deal. What does he mean to you?

He's more like the late Martin Luther King. I call him Barrack 'O Grin. He is such a blessing to Nigeria. He really paved the way big time for up-and coming rappers like myself back in the day. It's not like there has not been other people before him but his impact was awesome! Dagrin is a great artiste and I respect him; he is a legend.

Lately you have become so big. How are you filling the vacuum Dagrin left behind?

I don't know. It is depend on people's perspective. I just live my life the way I feel and besides, I'm not the only rapper in the industry. There are others like Lord of Ajasa. However I'm only doing my thing. Now people are comparing me to Dagrin and that feels great. I see it as a blessing from God. I can't say I'm the best rapper; that would be ridiculous. It's like saying Jay Z is the best rapper. However,  it's not like Jay Z is better than B.I.G but people see the love they have for B.I.G in Jay Z. B.I.G died when he started making money and people were heartbroken. And Jay Z can never open his mouth and say 'I'm better than B.I.G.' The same thing applies to me too. I can't say I'm better than Dagrin.

How do you get inspiration for your music?

I discovered a long time ago that rap music is all around me so I draw a lot of inspiration from my environment. I just feel comfortable being a rapper as opposed to singing. Seeing rap icons like Dagrin and the love he had for the art just overwhelms me.

How do you handle your female fans?

(laughter)We dey try. Behind every successful man there is a woman. For me it's not just about a woman but women so I take advantage of it positively. I don't sleep with my female fans; I treat them like my sisters.

What's been your happiest moment?

God has done many things for me. I can't tell which moment is the happiest but one I can remember was the release of my first album, Rhapsodi. I was so happy when it was released. That album registered my name in the annals of the history of rap music in Nigeria.

What was it like meeting I.D Cabasa?

I met I.D Cabasa when I went to record with a friend in a studio. We met each other and struck the right chords and the connection took off from there. That's how I ended up having his support.  And ever since, he's been giving me that special big brotherly love.

What's your advice for up-and-coming artistes?

My advice is that they should put God first and do less of unnecessary hard work.

If not rap what would you be doing?

For now, I don't see myself leaving the rap world. I would rather be running a rap music label.

What is the meaning of Ilefo Illuminati

It is slang in my neighbourhood in Bariga, Lagos. Ilefo simply means swag.

There is talk that you belong to illuminati. How true is this?

I have been correcting that impression in all my interviews and I'm not going to get tired of it. I only feel I need to keep representing my own people and communicating with them in a way that they will understand me. So, I want to tell my people that I don't belong to illuminati or any secret society.

What has been your challenges?

Wow! It used to be an issue of finance. Right now the major one we are facing is the issue of piracy. And it's crazy men! I feel it should stop but I also know it can never be stopped!

What are your dreams?

I want to be a global brand that is why I'm looking up to God. It is not by my power but by the grace of God. I feel honoured and great that I'm one of the top profile rappers in town.

VP hands over electricity distribution to private investor

Port Harcourt -  The Federal Government on Friday handed over electricity supply to 4Power Consortium Ltd., owners of the Port Harcourt Distribution Company (PHED) in line with its power sector reform.
The Vice President and Chairman of the National Council on Privatization, Alhaji Namadi Sambo, handed over certificates to the company in Port Harcourt.
Sambo, represented by Dr Godknows Igali, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Power, said that the handover held simultaneously across the nation, drew to a conclusion the power reform which began in 1999.
He said that the exercise was a culmination of 14 years of painstaking efforts to liberalise the nation's electricity sector to attain desired economic growth.
"The power sector reform, which began in 1999, continued with the enactment of the Electricity Power Sector Reform Act of 2005, which gave rise to the creation of 18 successor companies.
"The 18 companies from the unbundled Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) are six Generation, 11 Distribution, and one Transmission companies, respectively.
"The private sector involvement became necessary in order to chart a new course for a sector that had delivered far below minimum expectations of Nigerians.
"The participation of the private sector will bring about more efficient and cost effective power supply, engender private sector investment, improve infrastructure, and create employment for Nigerians.
"The challenges facing the electricity sector in Nigeria are enormous; but we are equally convinced that the opportunities in the sector are enormous.
"The Federal Government is committed to creating an enabling environment that will enable these companies provide quality and cost effective service delivery to the Nigerian electricity consumers," he said.
Sambo said that President Goodluck Jonathan was committed in taking Nigeria out of its "perennial darkness'' within the shortest possible time.
He said that the Federal Government would through the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), and the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), monitor the operations of the companies.
The vice president said that companies, which failed to deliver on performance, agreed with the Federal Government would be severely sanctioned.
On welfare package for PHCN workers, Sambo said that government had so far paid 40, 698 workers their severance packages and 14, 700 workers their pension entitlements.
"We were only able to pay pension elements to 14, 700 out of the about 40, 000 workers because there was complications arising from duplication of names, erroneous dates of births, among others.
"To ensure that this money gets to workers, government has moved the funds for payment of the pension into the accounts of a custodian, who together with PENCOM will verify workers claims.''
The Chairman of 4Power Consortium, Mr Augustine Wokocha, assured that the company would provide stable electricity supply to customers.
He called on customers in the PHED zone to support the company in its bid to provide uninterrupted power supply to about 14 million people living in the zone.
PHED covers four states comprising  Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Cross Rivers and Rivers states.

Ignore ASUU’s demands, NASU, NAAT, SSANU tell FG

NON Teaching staff in tertiary institutions in Nigeria, have advised the Federal Government to ignore the Memorandum of Understanding it entered into with the striking lecturers on the aegis of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, saying its implementation would lead to another round of crisis.
The Non Teaching Staff comprising Non-Academic Staff Union of Education and Associated Institutions, NASU, National Association of Academic Technologists, NAAT, and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities,SSANU rather advised government to implement the 2009 agreements it entered with the unions in tertiary institutions.
In a statement signed by Samson Ugwoke, President of SSANU and spokesperson of NAAT, SSANU and NASU tited, 'Our stand on the on-going ASUU strike', the unions sympathised with ASUU but noted that the MoU was not in the best interest of the education sector.
It stated "We sympathise and solidarise with our sister union, ASUU over their long drawn struggle for the welfare of their members. We urged the government to build more confidence in governance, at all times, by respecting agreements it freely enters into with unions.
"However, we caution that any settlement of the current dispute must take into account the interests of all the university-based unions (NAAT, SSANU, NASU and ASUU). The three Non-Teaching Staff Unions of NAAT, SSANU and NASU are opposed to any extraneous demands by either ASUU or any group in the university which are prejudicial to the welfare of our members.
"Our stand is that government should jettison the so called ASUU's Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and concentrate on full implementation of the 2009 FGN/Unions agreements which border on staff conditions of service and welfare, and increased funding to universities.
"The MOU being referred to by ASUU is for their selfish end and it is bound to generate more crises in the university sub-sector.
The Non-Teaching Staff Unions in the universities will stoutly resist any attemp t to 'sell' the universities to ASUU.
"All university based unions signed agreements in 2009 with the government, it is therefore advised that all contentious issues in all the agreements be settled holistically to avoid a 'relay race' in strike actions in the universities.
"The implementation of any union's MOU should not come in between the period of implementation of signed agreements rather, such items in the MOU should wait to be re-negotiated in another agreement(s)."

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are suing YouTube co-
founder Chad Hurley for allegedly scheming to post the
video of Kanye West's proposal on his new Internet
venture, MixBit. Photo: Bangshowbiz
The 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star and the
rapper claim the billionaire 'manipulated' his way into AT
and T Park in San Francisco and released unauthorised
footage of the moment the 'New Slaves' hitmaker proposed
to her on her 33rd birthday on October 21. According to
court documents, obtained by TMZ, the couple is accusing
Hurley of scheming to post the video of the intimate
moment on his new Internet venture, MixBit.
Their lawyer Eric George also trashes the entrepreneur,
claiming Hurley is desperate to find a 'second act' because
two of his other businesses have flopped since he sold
YouTube for $1.65 billion. It was previously reported that
Kanye invited Kim's close family and friends, along with
several well known Silicon Valley founders to watch his
surprise proposal, but Hurley wasn't invited and they only
let him stay after he signed a confidentiality agreement.
They attached a picture of him holding the agreement to the
lawsuit, which also states: 'Hurley proceeded to try to turn
the event into one starring himself, broadcasting the images
he knew were the exclusive property rights of someone
else.'
The couple is suing Hurley for unspecified damages and
claim the footage was intended to be shown on MC Cable
Television, which is an arm of Bunim/Murray and E!,

FG hands over Abuja Distribution Company Plc to new owner

Abuja – The Federal Government on Friday handed over the Abuja Distribution Company Plc (DISCO) to its new owner, KANN Consortium Utility Company Ltd.
Vice President Namadi Sambo, who handed over the DISCO, said that the event was to formally hand over the physical assets of the old PHCN to their new owners.
Sambo, who is also the Chairman of the National Council on Privatisation (NCP), said that the assets were the property
of five Generation Companies and 11 Distribution Companies.
The Minister of Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo, represented Sambo at the occasion.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the privatised generating companies are Geregu Power Plc, Ughelli Power Plc, Egbin Power Plc, Kainji Hydro Electric Plc and and Shiroro Hydro Electric Power Plc.
The 10 privatised Distribution Companies (Disco) are located in Abuja, Benin, Eko, Ibadan, Ikeja, Jos, Kano, Port-Harcourt, Yola and Enugu.
Sambo noted that the successful handover was made possible by President Goodluck Jonathan's unparalleled leadership and commitment to ensure that there was provision of stable power by the present administration to people.
He said that the event was taking place simultaneously at the headquarters of the state capitals across the country.
Sambo explained that the handover was borne out 14 years of painstaking efforts by NCP and the Bureau of Public Enterprises.
He noted that Nigeria would not attain its desired economic growth without adequate power supply, adding that this informed the power sector reforms.
Sambo said that the critical programme began in 1999 with the inauguration of the Electricity Power Implementation Committee which led to the development of the National Electricity Power Policy of 2001.
He explained that the enactment of the Electricity Power Sector Reforms Act of 2005, and the establishment of PHCN were to reinforce the repeal of the defunct NEPA Act.
Sambo said that the new Act made it possible to create 18 companies by unbundling PHCN into three categories namely generation six companies, transmission one company and the distribution 11 companies.
He said that 2005 Act changed the legal and regulatory environment for the power sector in Nigeria and sought to create a sustainable electricity supply industry to the country.
According to the Vice President, the reform is a necessary tool for laying a solid foundation for sustainable power generation and service efficiency in the sector.
Sambo said that the opening of the industry to private hands would create job opportunities, improve efficiency also engender private sector investment among others.
He said that the challenges facing the sector were enormous as well as its benefits, noting that government would create enabling environment that would suit the investors.
Earlier, Alhaji Shehu Malami, the Chairman of Board of Directors of KANN Consortium Ltd., called on Nigerians and all stakeholders in the industry to exercise patience for the new successor companies.
NAN reports that so far, out of the 16 successor companies scheduled for handover, a total of 2.5 billion dollars was realised as proceeds.
The Sapele Generation Company was not affected by the exercise because the NCP directed its legal committee to undertake a comprehensive legal review of the status of the company.
This was as a result of the preferred bidders failure to complete payment for the company.

Nigerians react to handover of PHCN successor companies

Abuja – Nigerians have reacted to the handover of 16 successor companies to Power Holding Company of Nigeria.
The Vice-President, Alhaji Namadi Sambo, on Friday handed over 11 power distribution and five generation companies, created out of PHCN, to their private owners on behalf of the Federal Government.
While some consumers have expressed the hope of getting improved energy supplies, others advised former PHCN staff to manage their resources well.
In Gombe, .Mr Musa Ayiga, the Zonal Coordinator, North-East and Central Executive Council member of PHCN, advised disengaged workers of the company to use their severance allowance judiciously
Ayiga told the workers to invest part of the money well and not to indulge in unnecessary spending to ensure a better future.
He advised those who would be engaged by the new companies to work hard, be dedicated to their duties and to realise that it would not be business as usual.
"Do not worry for losing the PHCN job, just take it as an act of God and bear with the situation, nothing will happen to you but you should know how to play  your game," he said
In Osogbo, some electricity consumers expressed the hope that the transfer of ownership of the companies would improve electricity supply to them.
Mr Tunde Oladeji, a teacher told the News Agency of Nigeria that he hoped that "electricity supply will improve''.
Oladeji said that he initially doubted the successful conclusion of the privatisation of the energy sector based on past experience.
"But the realisation that privatising PHCN may result in customers paying for the exact power consumed is inspiring," he said.
Mr Bisi Johnny of Idi-Seke, Osogbo, told NAN that he was looking forward to a new power sector that  would be truly responsible to the people.
Johnny said that it was important for the new owners of the companies to fashion out ways of improving on power generation.
Mrs Folabomi Ibiwoye, a housewife, advised the new investors to endeavour to win the confidence of the people through stable power supply and accurate billing.
''A situation whereby we pay for what we did not consume is very bad," Ibiwoye said.
She also advised the new owners not to increase the suffering of Nigerians through ''suffocating tariffs''.

PHOTOS: D’Banj Flops In Concert, Gets Booed Off Stage

Nigerian musician Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo popularly known as D'Banj, proved more of a studio than stage musician as he failed to perform to expectations for hundreds of Zimbabweans who thronged the Glamis Arena for the Lion Lager Summer Beer Festival tagged 'Battle of Africa' on Saturday night.

The show which started on a low note was opened by King Shaddy followed by Guspy Warrior. But all eyes were on D'banj because he was the main attraction at this year's edition.

He however left fans disgruntled and regretting ever parting with their hard earned cash to attend the show as he failed to wow the crowd.

His opening song was "Fall in Love", followed by "Oliver Twist", "Kukere" remix, "Don't Tell Me Nonsense", "Igwe" and "Why Me" and then he lost it.

After failing to rise to the occasion, he tried sexually suggestive dances with ladies he calls "Kokolates" on the stage, but still could not win the hearts of many entertainment hungry fans.

However, Ugandan chanter Bebe Cool did his best despite being a nonentity in Zimbabwe. He simply put on a spirited performance despite the fact that the majority of locals are not familiar with his stuff.

From the Zimbabwe twitter chatter to newspaper headlines which all read 'D'Banj outshined by Bebe Cool', it could be seen that the night belonged to his visiting counterpart, Bebe Cool, real name Moses Ssali.

D'Banj was the opposite of the Nigerian twins P-Square who performed at the same festival last year and left fans asking for more.

Husband Divorced Wife Who Insulted Their Landlord In Ekiti

Joseph Idowu, a 31-year-old man has divorced his wife of 5
years, Omolara who insulted their landlord while settling a
dispute.
Joseph filed for divorce from his wife and the mother of his 2
children on August 31st, 2013 at a Customary Court in Ikole
Ekiti.
He told the court that Omolara insulted his landlord when he
was trying to settle a dispute between the couple, and later
moved out of his house because she got annoyed for being
corrected.
The woman, who denied the allegation, gave her evidence on
oath to the effect that she did not insult their landlord.
She accused the plaintiff of conniving with the landlord to
sack her by giving flimsy excuses, so that he could get
another wife.
Omolara stated that she packed out of her matrimonial home
because of her husband's habit of beating her, and to escape
being killed.
She, however, consented to the divorce and prayed for the
custody of her second child who was a year and nine months
old.
The president of the court, Mrs Yemisi Ojo, dissolved the
marriage.
She upheld the prayer of the defendant on the custody of the
second child and ordered both parties to be jointly responsible
for the care, maintenance, support and education of the second
child.
She ordered that the plaintiff should single-handedly cater for
the need of the first child in his custody.
It's obvious this man is out of love for his wife.
How can he file for divorce because she insulted the
Landlord?

A little monstrous! Lady Gaga sports scary toothy smile, huge jacket and black underwear on bizarre Dope single cover

With her famed quirky fashion sense and eclectic style, the
cover for Lady Gaga's new single Dope is predictably bizarre.
The star poses in an enormous boxy double breasted jacket,
black hat and scarf tied around her eyes. Her wide open
mouth shows a bizarre grille in her teeth, making them look
oversized.
The jacket is cropped at the waist and the 27-year-old singer
also sports black underwear with mysterious bruises around
the crotch area.
The outfit is completed with the addiction of what appears to
be one black leather over-the-knee boot.
The enormous boxy jacket appeared to be inspired by the
cover of Talking Heads album Stop Making Sense.
The star revealed via her Twitter account that her new single
will be released next week.
'Dope will be available 12:01am local time Nov 4th,' she
wrote. 'Final song available for purchase before ARTPOP
release Nov 11.'
Gaga has recently been in London to promote ARTPOP where
she has been seen in a series of typically eccentric outfits.
She was recently named Glamour's Woman of the Year and
sat down with Andy Cohen to discuss her feelings on beauty,
Madonna and her own body image issues.
When asked whether or not she considers herself to be
beautiful, the star had a very self-aware response.
She said: 'Not conventionally beautiful. I've always been OK
with that. I'm not a supermodel. That's not what I do. What I
do is music.
'I want my fans to feel the way I do, to know that what they
have to offer is just as important, more important, than what's
happening on the outside. I'm confident in who I am.
'Being beautiful is not so fun when you're in a business with
all men. Because it can actually get in the way.'

A True Life Story: How Smartphone Saved Man's Life! Must read

A well-placed smart phone has saved the life of a gas
station attendant in Florida, USA.
A photo released by the police shows a bullet hole in the
phone screen and a bulge at the back where the bullet
protruded
There's no doubt cell phones have made life infinitely easier,
but one man realized just how helpful they can be when an
HTC smartphone saved his life.
Early Monday morning, a gas station clerk was aiding a
customer in finding a specific drink when the customer pulled
a gun and demanded that the clerk open the safe.
The clerk was unable to do so, and a second clerk was given
the same instruction.
Neither clerk was able to unlock the safe and the gunman left,
but not before firing off a single shot.
Police were immediately called to the Hess gas station in
Winter Garden, Florida.
While they were interviewing the clerk to gather information,
he complained of chest pains. Until then, no one noticed that
he had been shot.
According to police accounts, he survived the attempted
armed robbery thanks in part to his cell phone, which was
stashed in his chest pocket.
"So they started looking at the clerk. That's when they
realized that the guy had actually shot at him, hit him,
struck his cell phone, and the cell phone had stopped his
bullet," Winter Garden Police Lt. Scott Allen said.
The clerk was taken to the hospital, but was quickly released
with no injuries.
The chest pain he complained of was due to the blunt force of
the bullet hitting the phone. His HTC smartphone, however,
didn't fare so well.
The screen is shattered and bullet is lodged into the phone.
The other clerk was not harmed.
"I've seen individuals get shot with low-caliber handguns and
I've seen it be life ending.
So, for this gentleman to be as lucky as he is, it's a good day
for us," Allen said.
This isn't the first time an HTC phone has saved a man's life
from a bullet. In 2011, a valet at an Atlanta night club was
shot by two men.
According to the Associated Press, one of the bullets may
have done some serious damage had it not been stopped by
the man's HTC, also located in his chest pocket.
Reports from this case indicate that the phone's battery kept
the bullet from doing any harm.
The lesson from this story is simple: be carefull with your
smartphone, one day it may save your life!

FG Yet To Release N100bn To Universities Says ASUU

Despite claims by the Federal government that the sum of
N100billion had been disbursed to 59 public universities to
improve infrastructure in the benefitting institutions, the
Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has alleged
that none of the universities had received the said sum.
This is just as former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon
has appealed to both parties to strike a compromise for the sake
of our children and the country.
Chairman of the Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi
branch of ASUU, Dr. Celestine Aguoru, who spoke yesterday
after leading members of the branch on a peaceful march
around Makurdi town in protest of the lingering Federal
Government/ASUU face-off said: "As we are talking today,
government has not released one kobo out of the N100 billion
they claimed they have given the universities; this goes to show
the level of insincerity of the government.
"The truth is that government is paying lip service to the
development of education in this country and has therefore
resorted to playing politics with the education sector and the
future of our children.
"It is rather unfortunate that majority of those who are leading
us today went to school in their time on scholarships, but today
they do not want our children to benefit from that same
gesture, all because of greed.
"Today we are faced with a situation where the amount
Nigerians spend yearly to educate their children in Ghana is far
more than the yearly budgetary allocation to the education
sector.
"Our leaders are not being fair to our country, government
should as a matter of priority implement its agreements with
ASUU, Nigerians are tired of this deceit; they should
remember that if they continue to negate their responsibilities
to the people, one day they will certainly give account to God."
Meanwhile, General Gowon, who spoke in Lagos at the launch
the first edition of the Shell Nigeria Scholars Forum, for the
beneficiaries of its scholarship argued that one of the parties
must be prepared to yield ground in order to save the education

Chris Brown is being urged to stay in rehab for three
months so he can learn to cope with his anger issues and
prove he is serious about overcoming them.
The 'Fine China' singer checked into a treatment facility in
Malibu, California, on Tuesday October 29 2013, just
two days after being arrested for assault after allegedly
breaking a man's nose outside a hotel in Washington D.C.,
and his management team want him to remain there until
early next year.

A source told TMZ 'The rehab facility has been told to take
him [Brown] apart and put him back together.'
The 24-year-old star, who is still on probation for beating
his ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, is reportedly open to
remaining in care so he can learn how to cope with his
anger management issues and prove he is serious about
overcoming them, as he has been warned by his lawyer,
Mark Geragos, that he could be sentenced to up to four
years behind bars if the judge decides he has violated his
probation.
A spokesperson for the singer previously said: 'Chris
Brown has elected to enter a rehab facility. His goal is to
gain focus and insight into his past and recent behaviour,
enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his
career from a healthier vantage point.'
The 'Forever' hitmaker was released without bail on
Monday October 28 2013, one day after he and his
bodyguard were arrested after reportedly hitting the man
and making a homophobic slur in the early hours of Sunday
morning October 27 2013, when the man and a friend
attempted to insert themselves in a picture he was taking
with two females.
The star's lawyer insists he is not guilty.

A Big Butt Is A Healthy Butt: Women With Big Butts Are Smarter And Healthier

Scientists from the University of Oxford
have discovered that women with larger
than average butts are not only
increasingly intelligent but also very
resistant to chronic illnesses.
According to ABC News, the results
found that women with bigger backsides
tend to have lower levels of cholesterol
and are more likely to produce hormones
to metabolize sugar. Therefore, women
with big butts are less likely to have
diabetes or heart problems.
And having a big butt requires an excess
of Omega 3 fats, which have been proven
to catalyze brain development. The
researchers also found that the children
born to women with wider hips are
intellectually superior to the children of
slimmer, less curvy mothers.
Eyeonthenut reports that the team analyzed
data from 16,000 women.

"Professor Konstantinos
Manolopoulos, who leads the
team at the University of
Oxford, says that women with
more fat on the buttocks have
lower levels of cholesterol and
glucose."
Having a big butt also favors leptin levels
in the female body, which is a hormone
responsible for regulating the weight, and
the dinopectina, a hormone with anti-
inflammatory, vascular-protective and anti-
diabetic attributes. The adipose tissue of
the buttocks traps harmful fatty particles
and prevents cardiovascular disease.
Eyeonthenut also cites similar studies
conducted by universities in California
and Pittsburgh not too long ago that
discovered that women with bigger butts,
wide hips and smaller waists may even
live longer as well.

Lol, Toke Makinwa blowing up a condom!

Miss Makinwa blowing up a rubber. Photo: Instagram
It's not that serious guys; it's just a grown up lady blowing
up a condom – probably preaching safe sex yeah?
On the real though, Toke Makinwa was just having fun
with friends at Lola Omotayo's bachelorette party last
weekend and blowing up a rubber is the least thing you
should be worried about at those parties.
The promising Rhythm FM 93.7 OAP might have thought
she overdid when she posted the photo on her Instagram
and immediately deleted it, not before it garnered a few
startling comments.
