R. Kelly's Ex-Wife Andrea Kelly, Defends Their Transgender Daughter

Reality star Andrea Kelly, R. Kelly's ex-wife has come to the defence of their youngest daughter's decision to transition from female to male.

The story broke out last month and practically broke the internet and sparked so many debates online. R. Kelly has made it known that he wouldn't want anyone addressing his daughter as his son but his ex-wife, in a new interview with VH1 thinks otherwise and says he's wrong for not supporting their daughter.

Andrea spoke speaking with VH1:

This past June your 14-year-old son Jay came out as a transgender boy on his Ask.fm page. How is your family adjusting to that? Are there any misconceptions you'd like to clear up?
All I can say about Jay is he makes it so easy to be a proud mom. For parents, we need to realize, [our kids] have their own journey. Parents get it wrong when they don't support their children. They have to go out and fight every day and face this world. The first battle should not be at home. I think that a lot of children in the LGBT community don't succeed because the one thing they need the most is foundation. I just tell Jay all the time, baby you won the war. You're gonna have a lot of battles but you won the war. Mama accepts and loves you for who you are. Your family does.

It's pretty remarkable for a 14-year-old to be so open publicly. I mean that takes some courage.
It's like Jay; you don't understand that you're changing people's lives just by being courageous. The kid is so courageous. She has…and see, there I go [using the wrong pronoun]. It's a learning experience. It really is. It's something we smile about. When I make that mistake I'm like, "Girl, you got a son, honey, get it together. Get it right." [Laughs]

Being R. Kelly and your child, there has been a lot of attention surrounding Jay coming out as trans. Was that surprising to your family?

You know it took a minute for that to click in my head. Then I have to stop and come back and say, in the urban community this is like a first. [For my family] this isn't this shocking thing. I need [people], especially in the black community, to stop burying their heads in the sand. Let's quit playing that game that you just chose to be gay or trans. What we choose every day is what we wear. We need to stop worrying about people's gender and sexuality and think about the choices we're making with our youth, period. That's what we need to focus on in my community. She concluded.

"I won't work so hard for someone else to take the glory"- Ibinabo on seeking 2nd term as AGN president

Despite the criticisms she got from colleagues like Clarion Chukwuka, current president of the AGN Ibinabo Fiberesima has declared her intention to run for a second term ...She gave her reason below
, "I won't work so hard and let someone else take the glory. My people want me back. I was really planning to move on to doing my own stuff but someone did something that touched me. He came to me with a list of everything I promised I would do for the guild during my campaign. He was itemising everything I did as he stated I have delivered on every promise I made to the guild. I looked at it and it was true.

He looked at me straight in the eye and said "of a truth you have done well but you and I know that you have not done all that you can do. He left me thinking and asking myself why I wanted to leave after the first tenure and every answer I came up with convinced me I was just thinking of myself. God reminded me my promise that I will live to serve him by serving his people."

Photos: See The Real-Life Goddess Whose Feet Don't Touch The Ground

Handpicked from birth, these pre-pubescent girls are known as Kumaris and are believed to be incarnations of the Hindu Goddess of Power, Kali .

From the moment they are chosen for their role, and pass a rigorous 32-stage test, these living goddesses are propelled to immortal-like status, deemed to be protectors from evil by thousands of adoring Hindus and Buddhists.

But for these girls, it is not just a name and status that they are given - their whole life changes.

Kumaris - which means virgin in Nepalese - are forced to leave their homes and are hidden away in temples as a living deity, only able to leave when they are required at festivals and processions as the subject of worship.

These Kumaris are even considered too special to walk, instead being carried in chariots, thrones and other people's arms - sometimes meaning they do not learn to walk until they retire.

And the girls are banned from going to school or taking part in day-to-day society, only appearing outside their homes or temples up to 13 times a year.

But once they reach puberty, everything changes for these Kumaris. After menstruation starts, the girls are put through a 12-day 'Gufa' ritual, after which their life as a Kumari ends - and they return to an ordinary life that they have never known.

Fashola Condemns Military Attack On BRT

In an interview with Channels TV yesterday evening, Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola described yesterdays action by the Nigerian Army as very disappointing, stating that they are public servants paid with tax payers money, so shouldn't behave in such a manner. He however said he's waiting for a formal report to know what really transpired.

"I spoke with the Brigadier General who said he was managing and controlling the situation. Nothing I have yet is verified. I am waiting for a formal report before we then can ventilate a position. There is allegation that somebody who was not supposed to be on the BRT route was on the BRT route. As far as I know if something happens to you while you are conducting an unlawful act, it's a criminal offense in its own sense. Its really disappointing to put it mildly that public servants, and that is what soldiers are, paid with tax payers money will act in a manner that is being suggested here, and I say this being suggested because I am waiting for official report to let me know really who played what role, what happened, whether or not even the brigade commander has been able to identify the people who were involved…but if it turns out to be true, it would be a very very irresponsible conduct to put it very mildly" he said.

Don Jazzy Reveals His Biggest Regret

Producer Michael Collins Ajaere, Popular known as 'Don Jazzy', has shared his pains of being a celebrity.

For the 32 years old Abia State-born music guru, having a successful career wants people to know his work and love his work.

But according to him, he claims he doesn't like the fact that he can't step out and be himself, citing instances like wearing his 'own' pyjamas on him and not getting people complaining about it.

He went on to say that there are a lot of things he craves to do as a normal human and feels right to do, which to him is human rights, and doesn't see any reason to reduce basically his own rights as a human, just as lots of people have that freedom to go on social media and say whatever they feel like they want to say, but the reverse is the case for him, without him been attacked.

For the celebrity model, gifted singer and Mavin records CEO and Chief, the best idea ever is the 'lagbaja' (face-masked). As when he (lagbaja) is wearing his mask, he is lagbaja, and when he is not wearing it, the public eye doesn't know who he is. Don Jazzy went on to laud the Nigerian afro beat musician's face-masked concept.

Don Jazzy claims he maintains a dual and split personality due to his career, which is Michael Collins for when he isn't seen around or spotted with a walking stick and Don Jazzy when he is with the stick.

The Nigerian superstar wished he came up with that concept first, as he can't step outside and do whatever he pleases.

Kanye West booed for ranting on stage in London

The 'Clique' rapper – who was performing at the event on Friday, July 4, 2014 – was stuck on a train taking him from Paris to the British capital city on Thursday night.

According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, the Eurostar stopped at Calais due to a 'technical fault', leaving the star – and other passengers – stranded for several hours.

With soaring heat making the wait even more uncomfortable, they were taken back to Lille to change trains – and it is said Kanye was happy to pose for pictures with fans while they all waited.

The star – who will also perform at the festival tonight – had agreed to take to the stage both evenings after Friday night headliner Drake pulled out due to illness.

However, the audience booed him after ranting for 20 minutes mid-show about discrimination in the fashion industry.

According to previous reports, he told the crowd: 'I'm not going to mention any names but… Nike, Louis Vuitton and Gucci. Don't discriminate against me 'cos I'm a black man making music.'

Photo: "I'm not a church goer, why should we be praying for 2-3hrs non-stop? - CharlyBoy on his father's funeral mass

Last week, Charlyboy raised eyebrows when he appeared at his father's funeral service, seated and flanked by two ladies..Speaking to Vanguard, he gave his reason  and also why he cut short some politicians  from giving long tributes
First of all, I am not a church goer. I am a Buddhist, though I was born into the Catholic doctrine. And part of my reason for not going to church is the fact that I have been to a lot of churches. For the first 20 years of my life, I was a mass servant. I was an 'altar boy' because my father was a disciplinarian. If you don't go to morning mass, you are bound to be in trouble.
I did all that for 20 years, and that's the kind of background I was coming from. But things have changed regarding the mode of worship in most churches. They spend more time than necessary. Why should we be praying for two to three hours non-stop? I have other things to do.
At the funeral service, I was told that Mr. President's representatives and other dignitaries have arrived my home town.
Unfortuantely, one of my legs was paining me, and that was why, if you were in church that day, I was sitting down throughout. People didn't understand why I was sitting down. I couldn't stand up for too long. Now, we have spent about two to three hours in the church. We couldn't afford to give all the politicians that attended the funeral rites the opportunity to pay tribute to my late father. I felt the only person who should deliver a speech was Mr. President's representative.
At that point, I was so stressed and tired. All I wanted was to commit my father's remains into the mother earth. So, I insisted, as the eldest son of Justice Oputa, I decide how things were going to be done. At that point, I said please, no more talk, it's too much, let one person speak so we can go and finish the business. That was what happened but you know people will misinterpret it. That is their business, not mine

Bad: Pastor offered me N2.5m to kidnap my neigbour's son - "Prayer Warrior" woman

According to new information by Punch, the mother of four, Mrs. Rosemary Chukwu, in Majidun area of Ikorodu, Lagos, claimed in her statement given to the police after her arrest, that Pastor Ernest Nwankwo of the Holy Family Happy Family Ministry (aka House of Mercy) offered to pay her N2.5m if he could deliver the child..

According to Chukwu's statement, the pastor had appeared to her many times in her dream and had even made love to her in dreams before she decided to do his bidding.

Chukwu, who was said to have been a choir mistress at House of Mercy, had alleged at the time that the popular pastor sent her to kidnap the child, whom she gagged and stuffed in a large luggage.

Chukwu, who was nearly lynched by residents of the area before police intervention last week Wednesday, has now told the police that the genesis of the kidnapping plan was when she approached the pastor for a loan.

Source said, "The woman said that when she told the pastor that she needed some money, the pastor told her that he could only lend her the money if she could bring a child in return. She told us that the pastor promised to give her N2.5m in return if she could get a child by any means and deliver the child."

However, Saturday PUNCH learnt that the pastor who is being detained at the Department of Criminal Investigation, Panti, Lagos, has denied Chukwu's allegations.

Our correspondent noticed that Nwankwo's church has shut down its website.
When our correspondent visited the church premises at Majidun on Wednesday, it was locked up. Residents of the area said nobody had visited the church since the police who had initially barricaded the place against looters left.

Our correspondent who spoke with Kelvin Emeka, the kidnapped child's father on Friday, learnt of the emotional struggle the young boy has been combating since he was saved from his kidnapper.

Emeka described Chukwu as a reserved praying woman, who kept mostly to herself.
He said,
"We only know each other as co-tenants and within the two years that we lived in the same compound, nobody saw or knew her husband. When we were at the police station, she was asked of the phone number of her husband, she did not know it.

She was also asked to provide the address of his workplace, she could not provide that as well. All I can say is that God loves my family. That was why she did not succeed in taking my child away to the ritual killers who sent her.Emmanuel still feels pain on his neck where the woman tried to strangle him before she put him in the luggage but the hospital did a qgreat job on him. He is still undergoing treatment but he has been discharged."

He said the boy has been having panic attacks since he was discharged from hospital.

Nobody can touch him anymore, not even my siblings. The only people whom he allows to touch him now are his mother and I. He sees every other person suspiciously and gets scared when they want to touch him. But I know he would be okay. God has delivered him" Emeka said the day Chukwu was caught by residents of their neighbourhood, a green sports utility vehicle picked up the suspect's four children and they have not been seen since then.

But the man is concerned for the safety of his family.
"I don't know what the members of that pastor's church are planning. I don't know the kind of arrangement he (Nwankwo) must have made before he was arrested. The police should ensure nobody harms my family because it is no longer my family that has a case with him. It is a criminal case being prosecuted by the police, not me

Female Rappers Are Not Appreciated In Nigeria - Kel

Remember Kel, the rapper who thrilled us with hits like 'wa wa alright' and 'you too fine'?. In this chat with Punch, she talks about her hiatus from the music scene.

Read excerpts below..

On her deliberate hiatus
"I am working on other projects which are all entertainment related. Although I haven't recorded any new song lately, I am working to release a come-back album before the year runs out. I have only stepped aside to take care of my education and to sort out pending issues with my former records label. I want to work on my music and myself, physically and mentally. But I am still in touch with the Nigerian music scene. Also, I am a brand ambassador for SOULMATE Industries."

On her imminent return to the music scene
"When I eventually return to the music scene, those who appreciate my kind of music will still embrace it. Yes, the industry has changed. So have people's motives and standard for music changed. Some people have come out with very amazing music that people are accepting these days and others have also come out with very ridiculous and funny music.

"Some people are also accepting the industry that has gone down in some areas. But in terms of international appeal, a lot of artistes have bridged that gap internationally, which is a good thing. Content wise, the music is depleted. Thankfully, people are getting tired of "club songs" with the same old beats and lyrics. Competition is something I don't focus on.

I have never done it and I never will."

The fact that the rap music scene in Nigeria is being run by the male rappers, with a few female rappers slowly tagging along, is no longer news. Save for the likes of Eva, Sasha P, Muna and Weird MC-who are yet to hold their own competition-wise and a crop of underground acts, it is indeed a tough call for female rappers.

"Rap will always be a looked down upon as a music genre in Nigeria. The truth is that only two percent of the country's population really appreciates rap music for what it is. Being a female rapper in Nigeria puts you under so much pressure, but I won't be switching genres when I return. I just want to release my new album as a surprise. I am not signed on to any records label because I run my own label and won't be signing on any artiste for now," she said.

On maturity and what her absence has taught her
"I used to read what was written about me, become saddened and sometimes cry. But I have moved on.

Now I read and laugh a lot, shake my head, and sometimes share jokes with friends. I have grown wiser and stronger and more comfortable and honest with who I am. Experience has taught me a lot and I have learnt that nobody will look out for you like you can.

"Right now, I will make music that is raw and real.. I miss performing on stage. Some people said I left because I was broke and started a family somewhere. But they are all wrong. I am dedicated to my work and music for now. I won't be releasing a double album because that will be too much music at once. Nigerian artistes are doing well especially on the international level."

Photos: Kanye West Reportedly BOOED At Wireless Music Festival

US rapper Kanye West was booed as he launched into an expletive-ridden rant at London's Wireless Festival.

The newly-married star launched into a tirade against the media and against the way, he said, people 'look at him' at the event in Finsbury Park.

Wearing a mask, he said:

"I'm not particularly angry but they've taken the idea of celebrity and tried to make me seem like I'm stupid or something.

"People keep looking at me like I got a problem or something, like I'm not doing something I'm meant to.

"The lies, the media, they want to make you feel like you're less to them in their eye."

His comments on Friday night come just weeks after West and his new wife Kim Kardashian had their wedding filmed by the channel which broadcasts her reality TV show.

Since then, there have been contradictory reports that the pictures of his wedding were for sale.

The rapper, who played hits including Gold Digger and Stronger, also attacked fashion brands Nike and Louis Vuitton.

In 2013, he ended a long-running partnership with Nike to sign a deal with rival Adidas for a reported $10m (£6m).

He continued:

"Don't discriminate against me 'cos I'm a black
man or a celebrity. "I'm not going to mention Nike or say names but if you're creative, want to create more, this is exactly what I'm talking
about. They say, 'No no no ******, that's too much'.

"It's about my dreams, it's about creating, not about the idea of being a ******* celebrity.

"That wasn't my fault about Nike they tried to control me. I just want to make something awesome, hang around my awesome friends and save the world.

"A lot of people don't realise they own power, they own connection. They say, 'How can Kanye go down his whole career and say so much vile ****?' It's because I got the Clique,"
he said before performing his track, Clique.

The rapper later showed a softer side when he mentioned his wife's name several times as he performed his track Runaway/If You Love Someone Tonight, which failed to make the UK top 40.

Others who played the festival included Pharrell Williams, Tinie Tempah, Iggy Azalea and Basement Jaxx.

Shortly after the gig ended there was also chaos around Finsbury Park Tube station which had been closed for planned maintenance works.

‘MBGN and other beauty pageants should be banned’ – Etcetera

Every year, thousands of girls compete in various beauty pageants across Nigeria. While the organisers may believe that they are helping our girls to feel 'beautiful,' they are also in many other ways causing significant damage to the self-esteem and body perception of other girls. The girl who won may feel as beautiful as the prettiest woman ever created, but what about the girls who didn't win? How do they feel? I spoke with some past contestants of one of the pageants (the girls that didn't win) and asked them why they think they didn't win, and this is what some of them said, 'Because I wasn't pretty enough,' 'Because the organisers didn't like me,' 'Because it is a racket and who knows what she has offered,' etc. Things like this inspire jealousy, low self-esteem, and other self destructive behaviours such as self isolation, social anxiety, eating disorder, drug abuse, personality disorder, bitterness and social phobia among our girls.

Beauty pageants in Nigeria should be sanctioned. Where do we draw the line between 'beauty pageant' and 'prostitution?' These pageant organisers and agencies are doing nothing but exploiting our girls in order to make money. The society is becoming so twisted and our sense of right and wrong is becoming so skewed. You gather politicians and paedophiles to watch girls in G-strings and bikinis wriggling their waists all in the name of making a show for TV. Are the contestants always meant to lie about their beliefs and relationship status in order to get a good score? Have we totally lost sight of what is morally right and wrong?

Beauty contests seem pointless to me. To tell a woman to submit to someone else's definition of beauty is crazy. So when the contest is over and someone wins, does that immediately make them more beautiful than the rest? Are they more beautiful according to a panel of judges? I think it is a sick idea and the money spent organising these beauty contests can be more useful for other causes.

Beauty pageant has been nothing but degrading and harmful to our women and children. It turns our women into objects to be used and played with. It makes the women that don't make it through feel bad about their looks and even those that do get through feel like they still have to do something more to look prettier. These beauty pageants also set false standards about how beautiful women are supposed to look. So, just because a woman is thin with certain looks, it makes them more beautiful? And women that are thick or big can't be pretty or beautiful? All they have succeeded in saying is that beauty is only skin deep. Well my friend, it isn't.

Isn't it bad enough seeing young Nigerian girls forcing eating disorders on themselves just to be perceived as prettier? 'I am so fat and it is just not healthy' has become the chorus of every girl on the street. Parents have become very competitive trying to make their daughters more beautiful than their neighbours' by forcing their children to make unnecessary adjustments to their bodies to look better than their peers. Now we see six-year-olds having hair extensions, permanent mascara and waxed eyebrows. Do these children really need to be exposed to such things to know that they are beautiful? Do we need our children to think that their looks are judged and if they don't stand out among their peers, they are not beautiful?

Can a woman ever have a sincere appreciation of her body when the only time she is ever praised for her looks is after hours of preparation with dozens of beauty products? Beauty pageants can only judge what we can see at first glance, and women are so much more than that. The society needs to protect the children from the sick idea of assembling girls in camps and tasking them with over-sexualised dance routines. These beauty pageants can only ingrain into our women that in order to be beautiful, they need to be skinny, which for some body types is incredibly unhealthy. Sincerely, what is the moral behind these beauty pageant shows? How have they helped the society in general? With sports, we can talk about mental discipline, fitness and advance body control. For all the money that beauty pageants cost to organise, is it really worth it? Of all the things you could expose our girls to, are pageants really the best thing out there?

When you teach people that beauty is only on the outside, it can cause major problems, not only health problems but social, physical and mental problems also. If a beautiful girl enters a pageant and doesn't win, she may begin to consider herself ugly or fat or too skinny. Beauty pageants create a lot of problems that can affect not only the girl but the people she surrounds herself with.

Women have always demanded respect from men. Not only should they demand it, I think they deserve it. But why make them scamper around in G-strings and bikinis showing off their bodies, knowing that men are going to go 'gaga' and lick their lips. I don't want to sound disrespectful, but can you blame the men? Men will always be men. We can't change our nature, but you know what we can change. We can change the fact that our women are naked and competing to be 'the most beautiful in the world.' We shouldn't endorse beauty contest because it brings money to some people. I believe that there are still a handful of women out there that share the sentiment that beauty contests are wrong and give men the wrong idea of what a 'true wife' looks like.

Must Read: Ex-Ogboni Cult Member Gives Life To Jesus Christ, Exposes Fraternity Secrets

Ex- Ogboni Chief The traditional ruler of Ode community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, Sunday Boboye has revealed that his desire to be a feudal lord over his town made him to join the Ogboni fraternity, a sect he has now renounced after 10 years of joining the society.

"I wanted powers to face the mighty and powerful people who have usurped my fathers' land. To do this, I needed to accept one of the heist titles in the land and which was my family's royal entitlement. It is the Ajagun (General at war) of Ode land", the 45-year-old ex-Ogboni chief stated.

Once initiated into the brotherhood, Boboye possessed dreaded powers that not only made him very popular in Ondo State but also made many to fear and tremble before him. But that was before he had a challenging encounter with a Christian recently.

Last weekend, a team of Christians and the reporter were invited to the palace of Boboye in Ode, Ondo state to witness how the former Ogboni chief who rose to the rank of Egan Oke (meaning an elder in the Ogboni fraternity) denounced his membership and burnt all the traditional deities he had served when he was an herbalist.

"I am the traditional head of Ode community. I give glory to God for saving me and making me to be alive today. The lord Jesus has arrested me and saved from evil association with Satan. I was an herbalist, a powerful one for that matter. And I am well known in Ondo State. Everyone respects and fears me as the Ajagun of Ode community.

If I decreed that somebody would die tomorrow, that is what will happen. The person will die. If I tell somebody that he would not eat the next day, the person must be prepared because that is what would happen. And if I decreed that someone would not sleep in his house the following night. It also would also happen. I was doing all these using the dark powers bestowed on me by serving the devil. But today, God has taken me out of the darkness", Boboye declared while denouncing his old association before his people who trooped out to see their once dreaded occult grand master and leader now wining and dining with Christians.

"Many people in Ode are surprised to see me with members of the ***** church and other Christians today and even wearing this apron, because they know who I was. They know about the tremendous power I wielded as grand-master in occult kingdom.

"My father, Pa Boboye Oluwasegun has been a pastor in The Apostolic Church for sometime. He had tried on many occasions to lead me to Christ but I have been turning deaf ears to him. This is why we used to quarrel sometimes. Whenever, I organized the Egungun festival, yam festival or Osun or Ogun festivals my father used to quarrel with me and asked me to drop the worship of ancestral gods but I turned deaf ears to him because the ancestral gods were giving me powers.

"Whenever he invited me for a programme in his church I used to attend but he doesn't come for my festivals because he doesn't like it. This is because the festivals are meant to celebrate and appease the ancestral gods. During the ceremonies, I used to kill cows, fowls and serve some images of the ancestral gods with the blood of the slain animals.

" I used to invite members of my Ogboni fraternity, members of the community and the media to partake in them. The festivals were very elaborate ceremonies that usually become the talk of the town months after. Many pastors and Christians have preached to me but I didn't change my ways because I didn't think Jesus Christ could give me the powers I need to conquer my enemies who want our land", he added.

While narrating the incident that led to his conversion to Christianity, Boboye said: "In January, an unusual Christian from The Lord's Chosen church who had come to buy some pieces of land from me, challenged me on the gods I was serving. I had boasted to him that I had remained safe, taking over all our ancestral land from our enemies all these years because the gods of my fathers have been protecting me. But the man told me that the only most powerful, who can protect me surely is Jesus Christ. He further advised me to accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and saviour but I said that couldn't happen because I couldn't lose the tremendous powers I have.

The man then told me that if I refused to accept Christ and serve the true living God, God would arrest me one day and bring me to Him. I told him to tell his God to bring me to Him if He likes."
The argument turned out to be Boboye's undoing as what happened afterwards not only shocked him but also turned his life in the opposite direction.

In his words "It wasn't up to a month after that encounter, I got roped in a robbery case. The Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) of the police in Akure invited me. So, I drove down there with my wife. Before that day, whenever I have a case with the police, I don't spend more than five minutes before solving it because I'm very popular with the police in the state. This is because if they bring any charge against me and I say this is what I want, they must accept but that night they refused. It was a rude shock to me. Before, the policemen feared me, because I could pronounce a curse on them and they would be dismissed, but that night things turned suddenly against me. The police threw me into the cell and the next morning, my driver was brought to me. I was asked if I knew him and I said he is my driver. The police then said that I was being arrested on the suspicion that I sent the boy to rob.

"My driver denied robbing anybody but the policemen beat the hell out of the two of us and threw us into the cell again. The next morning I was taken to the court and from there I was sent back to prison. And that was when a long nightmare began for me. I was detained and refused bail for over five months but God Himself visited me in the prison.

"A prison mate named Dagas, who was jailed for being a deadly thug but had become a Christian convert in prison, preached to me and I was touched.

One day, I had a powerful dream after praying with Dagas. I saw my dad by my bed in prison. He asked me if all the ancestral gods I was serving have saved me. He told me that he was the one who brought me to the prison. He gave me a Yoruba Bible and asked me to first read Psalm 119: 68 which reads: 'before I was afflicted, I had gone astray'. He asked if I knew the meaning of the passage but I said no, he then asked me again to read verse 71 of same chapter, which says: 'But it is better for me that He chastised me so that I might know the right way.'

When I woke up from the dream, I was afraid and woke up the boy who had prayed with me. When I told him about the dream, he praised God and said that my being imprisoned was God's design to save me. Dagas said that it wasn't my father who appeared in my dream but God himself.
"The brother urged me to continue to pray to God to deliver me from the prison.

What later convinced me the more was that mytravails then were God's design was that on May 23, the same man of the Lord's Chosen church visited me in the prison and prayed with me. After the prayers he told me that God was about to deliver me from the prison because He has shown me enough that He is the almighty.

"Barely a week after the visit, the same judge who had been refusing me bail, rejected several sureties and all that, miraculously granted me bail."
However, Boboye has countless regrets for being an Ogboni chief. According to him, he has committed terrible sins with the dark powers the ancestral gods he served gave him. Recalling his 10-year foray into the dark world, he said: "I had all the ancestral gods in Yoruba cosmology. I had Sango, Ogun, Osanyin, Iya Ogbo, and Osun among others.

Whenever I wanted to go and fight on land issues, I used to kill dogs for Ogun to appease him to give me victory. I also appeased other gods with their demands, but they failed me, they didn't tell me I would have a serious case before it happened and when it happened they couldn't save me except God.
Now that I have accepted Christ, I have peace of mind, I'm no longer afraid of anybody. In fact, before anything would happen to me, God would have revealed it to me in details in a vision. I will burn all the shrines I built for these small gods and denounce them publicly".

And Boboye did exactly that, he threw the images and other fetish materials into the front of his palace and was set to burn them all. But before he did that, he explained in details, what he was using the images of the gods for during his time as herbalist and Ogboni leader.

Boboye took members of the church to his power room where he kept molded images of different deities in Yoruba cosmology. The first, a repulsive image of the head of an old woman, he referred to as Iya Aye or Iya Ogbo, otherwise called the earth's mother or the Ogbonis' mother.

"All the witches meet at the her place. But she is a molded image. If there is a puzzle to be resolved, we visit her and present the issue, the witches then respond to us and make it look like she did so", he explained.
He then pointed to another small molded image, which he called Sigidi. "We use Sigidi whenever we want to attack someone with a spiritual arrow. We christen the Sigidi after the person to be attacked so that the Sigidi would represent the victim spiritually. We then launch the arrow at the Sigidi in order to hit the victim. And after the attack, we wash off the victim's name on Sigidi so that we can use it to represent another person in the future."

"This is one of the charms I used to bury in a controversial land so that I can stop the opponent dragging the land with us"; Boboye said pointing to yet another fetish item that looked like a rotten head of an animal. He said the item is an antelope's head. "If the victim on whose land the head is buried, steps on this, he would suddenly have his legs and other parts swollen and that would eventually lead to his death."

Drawing the team's attention to another repulsive sight, which he described as the devil's shrine, Boboye said the biggest one at the centre of the group of roundly arranged molded images was devil. "The small images are messengers to the devil. I used to feed the shrine with palm oil and salt. But whenever I want the devil to afflict anyone, I would present it with the black oil and mention the name of the victim as the one who said that this god should be given the black oil. This would make the god to be angry against the victim, as the black oil is its abomination. He would then visit the victim and deal ruthlessly with him or her."

The shrine of Osanyin and a small pot were the next the herbalist turned Christian showed. "This is Osanyin, the god who reveals secrets. The osanyin initiates and I took an oath which if broken I would vomit blood.
"The water in the small pot was fetched from the Osun River in Osogbo, Osun State. To all the Ogboni initiates, the water is used for good purposes. We feed this shrine with salt, water but not alcohol. If a child is ill, we use the water to heal the child, we also seek for solution to mysterious problems from the shrine, we do this by giving someone the water to drink and when that is done, we would find out what problem of the person is. It was prepared by the elderly members of the Ogboni cult that I joined."

There were some sculpted images on the wall of the room and Bobobye pointed at a small round one on which a small mirror was glinted. "With this one we know the secrets of men as it usually reveals to us like a television whenever we invoke the spirit behind it with some incantations. But not everybody can appear in the mirror. In fact, I don't invoke the spirit of Christians when they bring their case to me because I was afraid it could cause problem. This is because I know that Christians could be dangerous through the teaching I got while growing in a Christian home."

Having surrendered to Christ at the *******, Boboye advised the other traditional rulers, saying: "My advice to all the Obas and the chiefs is that they should accept Christ because He is the one that can solve their problems."

Fresh troubles for facebook

It seems that Facebook used its over 700,000 users for an experiment without
'our' permission, and subscribers around the world are not happy about this! What is now raising eyebrows is a recent publication of a study for  which the company manipulated the News Feeds of nearly 700,000 subscribers.

The study concluded that  negative messages on social networks make people sad, and positive ones make them happy. Facebook also discovered that those feelings can spread through a social network to third parties.

But how exactly does one measure 'feelings?' International media gathered that'Nearly 690,000 subscribers to the English-language version of the social network were selected randomly as guinea pigs without their knowledge, and divided into two groups. One group had some negative posts omitted from their News Feeds, while the other had some positive posts cut out.'

The experiments were conducted between January 11 and 18 in 2012.

Led by Adam Kramer of Facebook's Core Data Science team, which was heavily involved in the research, the study was published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, or PNAS.

The researchers, in response to  the outcry, which in turn have been criticized as being dismissive of the issues raised. The experiment "manipulated the extent to which people were exposed to emotional expressions in their News Feed," the published paper statescontended that no text was seen by the researchers and that the project therefore was compliant with Facebook's Data Use Policy, to which all users must agree as a prerequisite to creating a Facebook account. Agreement to the policy constitutes informed consent for the research, they argued.

Acadamy Awards sue family for selling Oscar statuette

The organizers of the Academy Awards have sued the family of one of its past winners, Joseph Wright, for allegedly selling the Oscar statuette.

The Hollywood Reporter says the suit was filed on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 in a Los Angeles Superior Court.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, organizers of the awards, allege that the Wrights gave Briarbrook Auctions the permission to sell the statue for N13m. This, they say violates the academy's bylaws which prohibits its winners from selling the statues without first offering the Academy a right of first refusal.

Wright won the Oscar in 1942 for his work on color and art direction for the musical My Gal Sal which starred Rita Hayworth.

Bayelsa State-born sexy actress, Tamara Eteimo has joined the long list of Nollywoood movie producers as she recently premiered her first movie, Somewhere down the line.

The actress who cannot understand why most actresses expose their body all in the name of interpreting roles, said there are certain things about her which are not known to the public.

"I can never act nude for anything. There are several ways of seducing a man in a movie without completely going nude. There are certain things people do not know about me. I am not sure that they know I used to be a very good dancer. I find solace in acting than singing, that was the reason I stopped singing. For me, once I get a script, I feel God has answered my prayers," she said.

My son inspired me into acting – Bamidele Adunke

Bamidele Adunke is a   fast-rising Nollywood actress cum movie  producer who has proven her mettle as far as movie production and acting are concerned.

Known for her roles in movies like "Itiju and "Mopelola,"  the single mother who  is fondly called G-money in the movie terrain opens up on how her son inspired her decision to go into acting. She also talks about what she thinks about sex for roles that is thriving in the movie industry, amongst other issues.

My son's featuring in a movie gave me my first role in a movie. A producer wanted to feature him in a particular scene in his movie but he couldn't do it anymore. So, he saw me with him and suggested that I should try out a scene .

After I did, they were impressed that I gave acting a chance. Since then, I have not looked back as God has continued to bless me. I simply do it for the passion. Passion drives me, not fame, not money. If it's for the money I would have left the industry a long time ago.

My most challenging movie role was when I had to act like an imbecile .It was very challenging for me  because before then, I never really saw myself bringing that character to life. I had to do it because I am a professional and I get paid for bringing characters to life. I am currently working on a new movie titled Aworan Ife, which will be released soon.

I can never star in a soft-porn movie .I cannot expose my body .I won't do it. I am a mother and I want to be perceived in a good way .I don't want a situation whereby my son and his friends will be watching a movie years from now, and  they will  see his mother playing a ridiculous role. I will not do that for whatever reason, for whatever amount. I am not going to do that.

What I desire!
I desire a man who is God fearing, open-minded and one who can hear me out, love and cherish me and my children. Whenever I am playing a romantic role, I always separate my emotions from the role I am playing at that point in time .I don't have feelings for the person in question, it's just a role I have to play at that moment. I do it according to what is in the script, no emotional feeling whatsoever.

Stardom has cost me my privacy. I can no longer do those things I usually do in the past, like buying roasted plantain .If I do that now, it will become news.
If I am not in the public eye, I won't even be noticed.
Being heartbroken!

Yes, I have been heartbroken and It's not something I like to remember. But I have a cute son from the shattered relationship which consoled me from all the pain I went through. My greatest fear? that would be losing someone very dear to me.I don't have a celebrity crush here in Nigeria, but there is an Indian actor I have a huge crush on. He is Shahrukh Khan. He is really cute and good at what he does. The only person I am still looking forward to being paired with in a movie is Odunlade Adekola. What I love about him is his line delivery and the way he interprets roles.

The last time I cried!
The last time I cried was when my son was being circumicised. I think that was the last time I cried because I felt the pain. I felt like bearing the pain on his behalf. Though he was a baby then, I was  really moved  by his tears. Getting married is not a function of doing it early or late, it's about doing it right. It's about doing it at the time you and your partner will be happy with each other.

Sexiest part of my body
My sexiest asset is my lips .A lot of people compliement my lips, saying I have sexy lips. I have heard about the demand for sex before one gets a role, but I have not experienced it. Having sex with someone is a thing of choice. So, if a producer wants to sleep with you in order to give you a movie role, it's up to you. At the end of the day, you might not even star in the movie. I have not been a victim of that.

Sexy woman
My definition of a sexy woman is how a woman   carries herself in the public eye. Sexiness is not about showing off your laps or   boobs, It's  more about showing off your brilliance and your inner beauty. Marriage is still in my plans, I haven't ruled it out. For me, it's about looking out for the right qualities.

Ijaw rejects confab recommendation on creation of additional 18 states

The Ijaw ethnic nationality Friday rejected the recommendation of the National Confab on the creation of eighteen additional states saying it was skewed in favour of some ethnic nationalities.

Spokesman of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) worldwide, Comrade Eric Omare, in a statement issued in Yenagoa said the Ijaw being the fourth largest ethnic nationality was deliberately left out in the proposed state creation exercise in furtherance of its marginalization by the Nigerian state.

The IYC said though the Ijaw ethnic nationality made a request for the creation of two additional states to wit: Toru-Ebe State from the present Delta, Edo and Ondo States and Oil Rivers State from the present Rivers and Akwa Ibom States, the conference committee on Political Restructuring and Forms of Government recommended creation of additional 18 states across the country without considering the Ijaw requests.

Omare said, "It is totally unacceptable for the Conference to recommend the creation of additional 18 states without considering the requests of the Ijaw Ethnic Nationality which is Nigeria's 4th  largest tribe.

"The conference recommendations are geared towards empowering some ethnic nationalities to have more political control to the detriment of other ethnic nationalities in Nigeria and in total disregard to the political marginalisation and oppression of the Ijaws of Delta, Edo and Ondo states who requested for the creation of Toru-Ebe State and the Ijaw of Rivers and Akwa Ibom states who requested for the creation of Oil Rivers State.

"It is on record that the  Ijaw were the first to demand for a region of their own even before the Nigerian independence in 1960.

"At that time there were only three regions in Nigeria which today has increased to 36 states and if Confab recommendations are implemented, they would now be 54 to 55 states out of which the North would have 28 states; Yoruba: 9 states; Ibos: 9 states, with additional two to three in south-south, but Ijaw that is the fourth largest tribe that requested for a region of their own even before independence and their leader Major Isaac Boro declared a 12 Day Republic partly because of state creation would have only one state: Bayelsa State.

The IYC would not and will never allow Ijaw resources to be exploited to fund and develop other states to  the detriment of the Ijaws. And without creation of Toru-Ebe and Oil Rivers States to liberate the politically oppressed Ijaw, the Ijaw people would have no other option than to reconsider their position in Nigeria.

"In the coming days, Ijaw Youth leaders would meet to take a position especially to consider the role of Ijaw delegates at the ongoing National Confab, who have been docile without an agenda."

UK Rapper Tinie Tempah says his 3rd album will be his last

The 'Trampoline' rapper insists he's not retiring but he's bored of putting out albums and thinks there are better ways to let fans hear his music using digital platforms and streaming services.

According to The Sun newspaper, he said: 'This is a Spotify/iTunes/shuffle generation.'

'I don't think people really listen to albums completely from track one to 12.'

'People now curate their own playlists so I think it's clever to beat them to it and say, 'Here it is, done for you.'

'A third album will emerge some time but I think another after that is uncertain.'

Tinie Tempah who last released 'Demonstration' in 2013, wants to release a series of EPs for fans and claims the rise of celebrity producers and DJs is killing the careers of singers.

He told the Daily Star newspaper: 'Producers are the new rock stars but they aren't the artists. It's killing the opportunity for any real solid artists to have well-rounded careers.'

'The charts are so producer-driven these days. Even though there's a vocal on the song, it's all about the beat and who made it.'

The 26-year-old star, who is performing at Wireless Festival in London and Birmingham this weekend, thinks there isn't many 'album level artists emerging' because it's all about tracks.

He said: 'For example, Jess Glynne is an amazing new singer and I hope people don't ignore her solo stuff just because it's not with Clean Bandit.'

Mother Stabs Teacher To Death In Front Of Pupils

ALBI (AFP) – A primary school in southern France was in shock Friday after a teacher was stabbed to death in front of her young pupils by a student's mother described as having "psychiatric problems".

After what Education Minister Benoit Hamon described as an "appalling" crime, the 47-year-old assailant fled to her home but was quickly detained by police.

The attack on the 34-year-old teacher took place around 9 am (0700 GMT) as classes began on the last day of term at Albi's Edouard Herriot primary school, which is attended by 284 students aged from three to 11.

Officials said the mother showed up in the classroom with a knife and stabbed the teacher, Fabienne Terral-Calmes, a mother of two young girls, in front of her horrified pupils.

The teacher died at the scene while being treated by emergency services.

The assailant's young daughter had been enrolled at the school for about a month-and-a-half, officials said, but it was unclear if the girl was in the classroom at the time of the stabbing.

"This is an appalling act, a murder, a murder of a teacher in her classroom in front of her students, by a woman who… seems to suffer from significant psychiatric problems," Hamon said after arriving in Albi.

"I want to pay hommage to the memory of Fabienne Terral-Calmes. She was 34 years old, a school teacher and mother to two little girls, Romane and Adele," Hamon said.

"They have lost their mother and the national education system has lost a wonderful teacher."

The head of the local parents' association, Sandrine Soliman, said she had spoken to the school and been told "there was no particular problem between the teacher and this woman."

- Better protection for schools -
Touring the school, Hamon said more needed to be done to protect institutions and teachers.
"This was an isolated act of course but… we must work to ensure that in the future schools are better protected," he said.

President Francois Hollande offered the government's full support to those involved.

"All state services will be mobilised to take care of these children and the staff who witnessed this awful tragedy," he said in a statement.

The incident comes amid concerns in France over assaults on teachers, with a study released on Thursday saying that education workers were twice as likely to be threatened and insulted than people in other professions.

The study by the INSEE state statistics agency found that 12 percent of education workers suffered threats and verbal abuse.

Only 0.6 percent of education workers reported suffering physical attacks however.

Another study released in April said nearly half of primary school principals reported being verbally or physically abused.

Of 4,000 principals questioned in the study, 49 percent said they had suffered from harassment, threats or insults in the 2012-13 school year.

It is still extremely rare for teachers in France to be killed in connection with their work, with only four known cases in the last 30 years.

The last was in 1995, when 51-year-old English teacher Michel Antoine was beaten to death in the southwestern town of Dax by two students, one of whom had just flunked his exams.

The two were later both sentenced to 10 years in prison.

There have been more cases of simple assaults on teachers, in several cases involving parents.

In October 2012 a father was sentenced to three years in prison, with 18 months suspended, for having struck a Lyon gym teacher several times with a truncheon after entering the school gymnasium to complain of his daughter being excluded from a basketball game.

Nigerian Troops arrest 3 female undercover operatives of Boko Haram

The Nigerian army have released a statement stating that they have arrested 3 women who worked as undercover operatives for Boko Haram. Find the statement below...

In the aftermath of the failed suicide bombing attempt on a military facility by a female terrorist who blew herself up in Gombe recently, troops have arrested three suspected female terrorists who have been secretly recruiting ladies into the female wing of the terrorists group. The suspects, Hafsat Usman Bako, Zainab Idris and Aisha Abubakar were intercepted while travelling to Madagali from where they were to transit to the forest to reunite with their cohorts. Continue...

Investigations revealed that the suspects, led by Hafsat Bako, have the mission to recruit members into the female wing as well as conduct espionage for the group. Hafsat's link with the terrorists group had earlier been a subject of investigation in 2012, when security agents on a manhunt for one Usman Bako, her husband who was identified as a terrorist, stormed their residence in Jimeta.  This resulted in the discovery of an AK 47 rifle and 2 loaded magazines.   Though Usman Bako later died in an encounter with troops in Sokoto where he had relocated to continue his terrorist activities, Hafsat continued with the terror group specializing in surreptitious recruitment of members into their fold.

The arrested trio suspects were luring ladies especially widows and young girls by enticing them with male suitors who are mainly members of their terror group for marriage. Before their arrest, they were on a mission to take additional briefing from the leadership of the terror group. The trio has been operating together as members of the intelligence team of the group.   Their arrest has yielded information still being verified by security agencies.Colonel ONYEMA NWACHUKWU

"We'll Be Happy To Get Our Daughters' Corpses" - Chibok Parents Ready To Storm Sambisa

Parents of the abducted Chibok schools girls and other residents of the community have said they are prepared die in Sambisa forest for the rescue of the girls.

The distraught parents and residents who are still mourning the loss of their children, who have been missing for close to 3 months, after they were abducted in a night raid by Boko Haram, said they are left with no other option but to storm the forest and get their girls back.

The parents who disclosed this to Leadership in Maiduguri yesterday said, they would be happy to receive the corpses of their daughters for decent burial than for them to remain in Boko Haram's captivity without any knowledge of what they are passing through.

However, the Borno State chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Reverend Titus Pona, explained that the people have already started mobilising themselves to go in search of the girls inside Sambisa Forest as they feel the government is not doing enough to rescue the girls, but that stakeholders in the area have been pleading with them not to embark on such a deadly mission.

He added that they don't for how long they would be able to prevent them from doing so.

Pona said, "We went round to see some of the parents and their families; it was a very pathetic sight; some of them were crying and asking that they would be happy to receive the corpses of their daughters so that they can bury them and mourn them decently, than having them out there in the bush, without knowing what is happening to them."

The Presidential fact-finding committee on the abduction of the school girls in Chibok, Borno State had in June, submitted their report to President Goodluck Jonathan. Their report confirmed that the actual number of girls abducted was 276, out of which 219 are still missing as about 57 of them had escaped and had since been reunited with their family.

Actor Nicolas Cage Becomes A Grandfather

The 50-year-old actor's son Weston, 23, and his wife Danielle welcomed a baby boy – their first child together – into the world on Tuesday, July 1 2014 and have named him Lucian Augustus Coppola Cage.

A representative for the couple told Us Magazine: 'Lucian Augustus Coppola Cage was born on July 1, 2014 at 3:14 p.m'.

Weston – whose mother is Nicolas Cage's ex-girlfriend Christina Fulton – and Danielle announced their happy news earlier this year and admitted the 'Joe' star was looking forward to becoming a grandfather for the first time.
Weston said previously: 'My dad is ecstatic. He was elated immediately when he met Danielle.'

The couple also picked out the tiny tot's name prior to his birth and explained in February where they had got the idea for the cute moniker from.

Danielle said: 'Lucian is of Romanian descent, which is what I am and Augustus is taken from Weston's grandfather.'

Weston added: 'His name is August. We honour him very much. He was of extreme brilliance. He was a genius.'

Meanwhile, Nicolas – who has been married three times in the past – also has eight-year-old son Kal-El with his current wife Alice Kim.
