Chris Brown to Ray Rice: "I've been down that road"

Days after NFL player Ray Rice was fired by his club, Baltomore Ravens, after a leaked video showed him assaulting his then-fiancée (and now wife) Janay Rice, Chris Brown, who received 5 years probation in 2009 after assaulting Rihanna, has spoken out about the consequences and triggers of domestic violence in an interview with MTV News.

Speaking with Sway about anger, domestic violence and what's he's learnt, Chris Brown said;
"I think it's all about the choices you make. With me, I deal with a lot of anger issues from my past – not knowing how to express myself verbally and, at the same time, not knowing how to cope with my emotions and deal with them and understand what they are. Help is great. I still talk to my therapist twice a week. It helps me...if I'm frustrated, if I'm dealing with something, to vent, to say what I'm going through so I can hear from an actual clinical person. Who tells you, 'This is how you should react,' or 'it's good to feel this way because feelings, emotions, and energy are supposed to come and go. It's not supposed to stay there; you're not supposed to keep it inside because it'll bottle up and you'll become a monster."
"Dealing with my anger issues, understanding myself, the life I've been through and where I'm headed and where I want to be, it's really helped me to really focus.
"For somebody going through that situation or anybody dealing with it, it's all about the choices you make and how you control your anger
"To Ray, or anybody else — because I'm not better than the next man — I can just say I've been down that road. I deal with situations and I've made my mistakes too, but it's all about how you push forward and how you control yourself."

Why Corp Members Now Have to Pay N4,000 to Get Call-up Letters' – NYSC

The National Youth Service Corps has defended its new policy that requires prospective corps members to pay N4,000 each before accessing their call-up letters online. According to the agency that mobilizes Nigerian graduates for their compulsory one-year service to the nation, insinuations that the new system was introduced for exploitative reasons is not true.

Speaking with the News  Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja yesterday, the agency's Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs  Olubunmi Aderibigbe, said the new policy was in the interest of the corps members. That contrary to the false impression, the new process was aimed at improving efficiency and reducing the stress  associated with the collection of call-up letters by  prospective corps members. She said:

It is wrong for anyone to assert that NYSC is exploiting  prospective corps members through the new computerized process. Some people seem not to know what some of prospective corps  members go through before collecting their call-up letters;  many of them travel several kilometres away from their homes  just to get the call-ups.
What we have done is in fact to reduce the cost and risks  associated with the collection of the call-ups and to eliminate  sharp practices associated with the old process.''

The director of Corps Mobilisation of the scheme, Antony Ani also stated that the services which include receipt of call-up numbers through email/sms, printing or re-printing of call-up letters online in case of loss, was optional. That prospective corps members who choose to collect their call-up letters from their institutions need not pay the stipulated fee.

'It's not that Paul cannot dance, he's just lazy. The other day, we booked a 7-hour photo session and by the first hour, Paul was already tired,' he said.

'It's true' Paul agreed. 'I don't like all the gra gra dance, I'm always afraid that I'll break my bones, I prefer the cool moves like that 'Do Me' dance.'

On being called a bad girl

How does wearing a bikini make me a bad girl? Well, they need to go and study the dictionary and realise what a bad girl really is. Someone like Rihana can be termed a bad girl, but Moet Abebe is not a bad girl

On her alleged Sex Tape

Have you seen it? Exactly! So, that is your answer. I have never posted anything like a sex tape on the Internet. At the end of the day, as far as there is no link, there is no evidence of a sex tape. People will always talk and I have learnt to live with that.

Why Gwen Stefani’s presence on The Voice USA threatens Christina Aguilera

Christina Aguilera feels threatened with the presence of Gwen Stefanie on The Voice cast list for this year's edition after she was replaced by Stefani.

The 'Your body' hit maker is taking a break from the popular series after recently giving birth to daughter, Summer with fiancé, Matthew Rutler last month but feels  very concerned abut her chances of making a return to the show next year.

A source close to the singer said: 'Christina is extremely threatened by [her temporary replacement] Gwen. She knows that if the ratings are higher on Gwen's season than they were on hers, the producers may have no choice but to ask Gwen to stay on.'

The insider added: 'Christina's in a world of paranoid right now.'

The 33-year old blonde beauty, who also has a 5-year old son, Max, with her ex-husband, Jordan Bratman, is also said to be concerned about Taylor Swift's role on the show with the wave-making 24-year-old singer set to join the series as an advisor.

But another source, which spoke with OK! magazine, said Christina doesn't feel threatened due to her pedigree and experience.

'She's ready to fight for her spot,' the source said.

Up until this year, Aguilera has shared a rotating spot on the judging panel with Shakira, who is also expecting her second child.

Must Read: How Egypt Air wrongly flew me to another country, tore my passport, locked me up

This is the shocking expreience of Joshua Kunle Abdul-Azeez ,a Nigerian Medical Student who was travelling back to school in Ukraine via Egypt Air..

On Friday, August 15, 2014 my mother and I went to Egypt Air head office at 22B Idowu Taylor Street, Victoria Island, Lagos to book a return ticket for me to go back to school to continue my studies at Dnepropetrovsk Medical Academy, Dnepropetrovsk Ukraine. This was about 11:15 am.
On entering the Egypt air office we met Mr. Tony Nzan on counter 1 to attend to us and we asked to book a ticket to Kiev, Ukraine.   Mr. Tony Nzan explained to us the itinerary for the flight going to Ukraine after which we went to the bank to withdraw money and returned to pay for the ticket and obtained two printouts, so that my mother could have my return itinerary from Kiev next year.

We reviewed the ticket itinerary before leaving Egypt air's office and immediately observed that the airport code indicated on it was different from what we were familiar with, having traveled to Kiev before.   The ticket indicated an unfamiliar airport code.

We immediately brought this discovery to another ticketing officer's attention who was seated at Counter 2, as we were informed that his colleague, Mr. Nzan, had stepped out of the office. This ticketing officer restated that the ticket was full economy and for Kiev, Ukraine with all the segments confirmed. However, we remained unconvinced, given that our prior experience indicated that the airport code for Kiev, Ukraine would usually read "KBP".

On my scheduled date of departure (18th August, 2014) my mother and I arrived for check-in at 10.30am. Given our apprehension, we once again mentioned our concern to the agent at the check-in counter and requested that she reconfirm the final travel destination indicated on my ticket. She confirmed that the ticket indicated "KIV" and was bound for Kiev, Ukraine. My mother then told her it should read Borispol International Airport KBP not KIV or Chisinahu as was indicated on the ticket.

Given our insistence over this and the fact that there was now a queue building up behind us she called her supervisor, one   Mr Lucas to check the ticket. He asked us what the matter was and we explained to him that we believed the routing on my ticket was wrong. We also told him we had complained about this, the day the ticket was purchased but that we were repeatedly told that the routing was to Kiev.
We also mentioned to him that we went back to Egypt Air's Victoria Island office on Saturday morning (16th August ) still very concerned about the ticket. The place was closed for business. My mum then asked that I show Mr. Lucas and his colleague my residence and study permits for Ukraine and reaffirm my intended destination to be Kiev in Ukraine and not the place indicated on the ticket, which appeared to be "Chisinahu."

Mr. Lucas proceeded to telephone Mr. Tony who issued the ticket to reconfirm routing but Mr. Tony insisted that the code (KIV) was Egypt air's code for Ukraine.

Mr. Tony also became nonchalant and abusive and said that my mother "was just being troublesome". My mother then directed that I get the boarding passes which had earlier been printed for me since they were insisting it was Egypt Air's code for Ukraine and that they were representatives of the airline. She warned Mr. Lucas that for the airline's sake, she hoped that they were right and we were wrong. I checked in my two suit cases with a total weight of 47.5kg and went to the departure gate and boarded the flight.

I arrived Cairo shortly after 10pm same day and was compelled to remain in the transit area for 14 hours, without feeding. No accommodation was provided by the airline. I presented myself for boarding at the boarding gate at 9am the following morning (August 19th) and was the third passenger on queue for boarding to Istanbul. When it was my turn,   the Egypt air boarding staff insisted that I present my Ukrainian visa before processing my boarding pass.   She did not ask same of the passengers ahead of me. I explained that I had a permit because I school there and presented the permit stamp on my passport, whilst explaining that the document was in my hand luggage.   Still, she insisted that I moved aside and present the original document.     I then retrieved it from the luggage.

Having seen my permit, the staff still refused to allow me through and insisted I remain at the corner I was in. I complied and watched closely to see if she would follow the same procedure for all other passengers boarding, but to my surprise, not once did she do so. I remained there until everyone else had boarded before she came round to scrutinise the original permit and eventually allowed me to board the flight. We departed Cairo for Istanbul at 10.50am.

We arrived at Istanbul at 2pm on 19th August and I was again compelled to remain in transit for another 17 hours, without accommodation, food or water. At 7am on 20th August, I boarded the flight in Istanbul, expecting to arrive Ukraine at 6am local time. Once onboard the flight, I slept off due to fatigue and hunger – having been deprived of good sleep and food for 2 days at the time. When I woke up, the flight hostesses had already served refreshment and passed me by. I then requested for my meal but was told it was too late to be served.

Once we landed, believing I was in Ukraine, I proceeded to immigration and presented my travel documents. The immigration officer asked that I wait at his desk, left and then returned with a local police officer. Both officers then explained to me in Russian language that I was not in Ukraine but in Moldova (a distinct country) and that the best they could do was to send me back to Istanbul, where I could then buy a new ticket to Kiev.
My passport was then handed over to the pilot of the next flight to Istanbul and I was given my baggage tags for my two suit cases that had by now been placed in the main cabin of the plane.
When I boarded the plane and sat on seat (23E) assigned to me, a male member of the cabin crew ordered me to stand up, sent me to the back of the plane and told me not to move. Another member of the cabin crew sat with me for the entire duration of the flight. I felt so degraded at being treated like a criminal. I was given neither food nor drink throughout the flight back to Istanbul. This was now my third day without food or water. I had now developed a cough and my gums were all swollen.
We arrived at Istanbul and I was immediately taken to the deportation office, where my passport was handed to the officer on duty. The officer interrogated me on what happened and I explained to him how the airline had ticketed me to a wrong destination. I asked if I could be allowed to buy a ticket to Ukraine from there (with my school fees in my possession), which was my intended destination all along.
The officer agreed to my purchasing a new ticket to Kiev and I was placed in a room for over four hours. After two hours of not knowing what was going on or what was being done with my documents, I requested to use the toilet, in the hope that I would find a cell phone to borrow and call my family to inform them of what was happening, but the officer posted outside the room refused and ordered me to sit down.
I continued asking to use the toilet for over 10 minutes until she finally allowed me to go and answer the call of nature. I eventually found a telephone and then called my elder sister in Nigeria, explained the situation to her and asked her to inform my mother. Once my mother was informed, she contacted my university and her Ukrainian liaison agent in Kiev and requested that they assist by purchasing a ticket on my behalf for Kiev, which would enable me to leave for Ukraine from Istanbul.

The ticket was swiftly purchased and I was forwarded the "PNR number" by phone. I then proceeded to Egypt air's transit desk and explained what had happened. I gave the lady on duty the PNR number for new ticket and requested her to assist me check-in for the flight to Ukraine. She refused to entertain my explanation and told me they would send me back to Nigeria, no matter what I did.

Another Egypt airline official joined us and to my utter shock and dismay, picked up my passport and tore it, saying "these bloody Nigerians". I looked at the man expecting an apology, but got none. He ordered me to stand up, saying that I was getting on a flight to Cairo.
At about 6pm I was taken to the boarding gate for the flight to Cairo and my documents were handed over to the cabin crew. I was once again treated like a criminal and taken to the back of the plane. A cabin crew member gave me some water and handed me only one baggage tag and informed me that one had gotten missing.
I arrived Cairo at 8pm on 20thAugust 2014. My documents were again passed from the cabin crew of the Egypt Air flight I arrived with to another Egypt air ground official. Yet again, I tried to explain the situation and my grueling ordeal over the past last three days to her.
I went as far as showing her my school papers and residence permit for Ukraine expecting some understanding and empathy, whilst hoping against hope that she may be different from the others and finally listen and hopefully help me get on a flight to school. Instead, she handed me over to Egyptian police officers, who locked me up in a deportation cell without explanation. I waited in there for about one hour and then knocked on the door to inquire why I was locked-up in the cell like a common criminal.

However, I was kept there for over 12 hours, till the following morning (21st August), degraded, dehumanised and with no food or water for three full days. At this point I was very weak physically, developed sores all over my mouth, my gum was painfully swollen all round, and I had begun coughing terribly, with thick yellow discharges.

When I felt like using the toilet I knocked on the cell door and an Egyptian policeman came to open the cell from outside. I told the Egyptian policeman that I needed to use the toilet but he declined and forcefully shoved me back into the cell and locked the door again. After few minutes, I, again, repeated the plea to be allowed to use the toilet, and the same officer came to the door. I explained that I was severely pressed and needed to use the toilet. Yet again, he pushed me back into the cell before I could finish pleading and locked the door.

Here I was, 17 years of age, so far away from home with no family communication, hungry, weak, very tired and being treated like a common criminal without any human consideration whatsoever;   I became desperately terrified and wondered if I would live through this ordeal or die hopelessly and forgotten in a strange land.
I was eventually deported from Cairo and arrived back in Lagos, after four traumatic days, on 21st August 2014. My luggage which contained all my books, newly acquired clothes, birthday gifts (including a brand new PS4 game console), money to last me through the new semester, and other valuables, remains missing till date – with no explanation whatsoever from the airline, regarding its whereabouts. The luggage that did arrive with me was visibly damaged, and I later discovered when I checked through, that it had been vandalized as several items packed into it before I left home were discovered missing.
On arrival in Lagos, I was straightway rushed off to Rivet Specialist Hospital at Ajao Estate, Lagos, for medical attention as my health had visibly deteriorated substantially and, as the hospital would later confirm   my body had become critically emaciated. I was immediately placed on critical watch, administered intravenous fluids, antibiotics and other prescriptive drugs.

A man who was later identified as Khaled El Rafie (General Manager Lagos, Egypt Air), came along with my mother to meet me at the airport on arrival. He showed little sympathy for what his staff and organization had put a 17-year old passenger through.

He displayed extreme arrogance and perfunctory remorse about my plight and, to my total dismay, added more insult to injury by saying that his own boss in Egypt commented that "I may have been locked up in a cell in Cairo because of Ebola virus". When my mum got very angry at his general approach and utterances, he told her "why are you   shouting…..?"   He wasn't going to assist on the matter anymore, and then he walked away". This was all before I was taken to the hospital for medical attention.

Joshua has since returned to school in Ukraine. He flew on KLM flight. The immigration helped in procuring him with another passport in one day.

Egypt Air reacts

Vanguard investigations at Egypt Air Head office where Mr Kunle   AbdulAzeez purchased his ticket revealed that there has been palpable fear about what Abdulazeez's   guardians would do next after the visit of his uncle, Mr Toju   Gbenebichie, to Egypt Air office.
Vanguard sought to speak with Mr Khaled El Rafie, General Manager, Lagos, Egypt Air, but was told that he   traveled and will be back later in the day. But members of staff of Egypt Air told Vanguard that the entire organization was very remorseful about the incident especially as it involved a 17 year old boy.

One of them who begged Vanguard   for anonymity , as they have not been mandated to speak on the issue, said it was actually "a mix up" on the part of Egypt Air ticket officer, Mr Tony Nzan.
The officer also said Mr Nzan has been very sober after the incident and he went the extra mile of trying   to arrange an alternative ticket through a friend in Turkish Airline to convey Mr Kunle AbdulAzeez to Ukraine.

The officer added that the arrangement to compensate AbdulAzeez with alternative ticket was put on hold after the visit of his uncle to Egypt Air office and after " raising hell", and threatened to take Egypt Air to court. Efforts to speak with Mr Tony Nzan proved   abortive as he insisted that he has been made to write a report on what actually happened and this has been submitted to the General Manager who now has the authority to address the issue.

NCAA begins investigation

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has begun investigation into the matter. The authority is already in receipt of the official complaint lodged by Toju Gbenebichie, the uncle of Joshua. They have asked for the copies of the ticket, the boarding pass and other relevant documents that could help their case.
A letter signed by Abdulmalik Ifueko for the AGM Flight Operations/Adjudication Unit in the Consumer Protection Directorate yesterday  confirmed this.
A source said that among other things "tearing the Nigerian passport is a direct affront on the government and people of Nigeria and will be taken seriously depending on the outcome of the investigations."

Strange Aircraft Responsible For Collapsed Synagogue Building Which Killed 17- Prophet T.B Joshua

The Founder and General Overseer of The Synagogue Church of All Nations, Temitope Joshua, has linked the collapse of an uncompleted Guest House owned by his church to a "strange aircraft" which he said hovered around the building before its collapse. Mr. Joshua said the plane hovered around the collapsed building for over 30 minutes. The clergyman spoke just as emergency officials told this newspaper that 17 people died in the incident while 123 others were evacuated alive and rushed to hospital.

Briefing journalists, including a Premium Times reporter, on the incident on Saturday, the pastor played a CCTV footage of a flying aircraft to back his claim.

In the footage, a plane was seen flying over the collapsed guest house at four different times on Friday morning — 11: 30 a.m, 11: 43 a.m, 11:45 a.m and 11: 54 a.m. The ‎building collapsed at 12:44 p.m Friday afternoon. PREMIUM TIMES was unable to authenticate the footage, and it remains unclear whether there is indeed a relationship between the flying aircraft and the collapse of the building.

But in his speech, Mr. Joshua insisted the aircraft, which flew past almost an hour before the incident, was responsible for the collapse of the building. The pastor said he was the target of the attack.

"Immediately I left the prayer room (which is a 10-minute drive form the church) for the church, I got a call that a jet was hovering over the prayer room but as I finished bathing and moved to the prayer room, I got another call that the jet has moved to the church and that was it,"Members cannot be the target, the easier way to stop this church is to get the head and from my explanation, you know the truth,"

Mr. Joshua called on security agents to study the CCTV footage as they investigate the incident. He promised to speak further on the incident during service on Sunday.
"Service will hold tomorrow and I will state my position tomorrow in service, you can watch it live on Emmanuel TV,"

He also apologised ‎to the press following the hostile treatment of journalists by members of his church. "We are very sorry on their behalf," he said.

"Our members are not hostile. The Bible is our standard. Even the Bible today, without the press, it cannot be accessible to many. Our members have respect for the press. When we fight the press, we are fighting Emmanuel TV. They value you people."

Wole Soyinka Writes On The #Bringbackjonathan Post, Says He Knows Australian Hostage Negotiator

In a piece he titled 'The Wages of Impunity', Nobel Laureate Prof Soyinka condemned the recent #bringbackjonathan2015 campaign slogan and GEJ's recent trip to Chad with Ali Modu Sheriff, who has been accused of being a Boko Haram sponsor. In the piece posted on Sahara Reporters, Prof Soyinka wrote that he knows Australian hostage negotiator Stephen Davis, saying that they both worked together under late President Umaru Musa Yar Adua's regime during the struggle for the return of peace in the Niger Delta region.

He also wrote that he has his own theories regarding how General Ihejirika may have come under Stephen Davis' searchlight. Find his article after the cut...

The dancing obscenity of Shekau and his gang of psychopaths and child abductors, taunting the world, mocking the BRING BACK OUR GIRLS campaign on internet, finally met its match in Nigeria to inaugurate the week of September 11 – most appropriately. Shekau's danse macabre was surpassed by the unfurling of a political campaign banner that defiled an entry point into Nigeria's capital of Abuja. That banner read:  BRING BACK JONATHAN 2015.

President Jonathan has since disowned all knowledge or complicity in the outrage but, the damage has been done, the rot in a nation's collective soul bared to the world. The very possibility of such a desecration took the Nigerian nation several notches down in human regard. It confirmed the very worst of what external observers have concluded and despaired of  - a culture of civic callousness, a coarsening of sensibilities and, a general human disregard. It affirmed the acceptance, even domination of lurid practices where children are often victims of unconscionable abuses including ritual sacrifices, sexual enslavement, and worse.

Spurred by electoral desperation, a bunch of self-seeking morons and sycophants chose to plumb the abyss of self-degradation and drag the nation down to their level.  It took us to a hitherto unprecedented low in ethical degeneration.  The bets were placed on whose turn would it be to take the next potshots at innocent youths in captivity whose society and governance have failed them and blighted their existence? Would the Chibok girls now provide standup comic material for the latest staple of Nigerian escapist diet?  Would we now move to a new export commodity in the entertainment industry named perhaps "Taunt the Victims"?

As if to confirm all the such surmises, an ex-governor, Sheriff, notorious throughout the nation – including within security circles as affirmed in their formal dossiers – as prime suspect in the sponsorship league of the scourge named Boko Haram,  was presented to the world as a presidential traveling companion. And the speculation became: was the culture of impunity finally receiving endorsement as a governance yardstick?  Again, Goodluck Jonathan swung into a plausible explanation: it was Mr. Sheriff who, as friend of the host President Idris Deby, had traveled ahead to Chad to receive Jonathan as part of President Deby's welcome entourage.

What, however does this say of any president? How come it that a suspected affiliate of a deadly criminal gang, publicly under such ominous cloud, had the confidence to smuggle himself into the welcoming committee of another nation, and even appear in audience, to all appearance a co-host with the president of that nation? Where does the confidence arise in him that Jonathan would not snub him openly or, after the initial shock, pull his counterpart, his official host aside and say to him, "Listen, it's him, or me."? So impunity now transcends boundaries, no matter how heinous the alleged offence?

The Nigerian president however appeared totally at ease. What the nation witnessed in the photo-op was an affirmation of a governance principle, the revelation of a decided frame of mind – with precedents galore. Goodluck Jonathan has brought back into limelight more political reprobates – thus attested in criminal courts of law and/or police investigations – than any other Head of State since the nation's independence. It has become a reflex. Those who stuck up the obscene banner in Abuja had accurately read Jonathan right as a Bring-back president. They have deduced perhaps that he sees "bringing back" as a virtue, even an ideology, as the corner stone of governance, irrespective of what is being brought back. No one quarrels about bringing back whatever the nation once had and now sorely needs – for instance, electricity and other elusive items like security, the rule of law etc. etc. The list is interminable. The nature of what is being brought back is thus what raises the disquieting questions. It is time to ask the question: if Ebola were to be eradicated tomorrow, would this government attempt to bring it back?

Well, while awaiting the Chibok girls, and in that very connection, there is at least an individual whom the nation needs to bring back, and urgently. His name is Stephen Davis, the erstwhile negotiator in the oft aborted efforts to actually bring back the girls.  Nigeria needs him back – no, not back to the physical nation space itself, but to a Nigerian induced forum, convoked anywhere that will guarantee his safety and can bring others to join him. I know Stephen Davis, I worked in the background with him during efforts to resolve the insurrection in the Delta region under President Shehu Yar'Adua. I have not been involved in his recent labours for a number of reasons. The most basic is that my threshold for confronting evil across a table is not as high as his -  thanks, perhaps, to his priestly calling. From the very outset, in several lectures and other public statements, I have advocated one response and one response only to the earliest, still putative depredations of Boko Haram and have decried any proceeding that smacked of appeasement.

There was a time to act – several times when firm, decisive action, was indicated. There are certain steps which, when taken, place an aggressor beyond the pale of humanity, when we must learn to accept that not all who walk on two legs belong to the community of humans – I view Boko Haram in that light. It is no comfort to watch events demonstrate again and again that one is proved to be right.
Thus, it would be inaccurate to say that I have been detached from the Boko Haram affliction – very much the contrary. As I revealed in earlier statements, I have interacted with the late National Security Adviser, General Azazi, on occasion – among others.

I am therefore compelled to warn that anything that Stephen Davis claims to have uncovered cannot be dismissed out of hand.  It cannot be wished away by foul-mouthed abuse and cheap attempts to impugn his integrity – that is an absolute waste of time and effort. Of the complicity of ex-Governor Sheriff in the parturition of Boko Haram, I have no doubt whatsoever, and I believe that the evidence is overwhelming. Femi Falana can safely assume that he has my full backing – and that of a number of civic organizations – if he is compelled to go ahead and invoke the legal recourses available to him to force Sheriff's prosecution. The evidence in possession of Security Agencies – plus a number of diplomats in Nigeria – is overwhelming, and all that is left is to let the man face criminal persecution. It is certain he will also take many others down with him.

Regarding General Ihejirika, I have my own theories regarding how he may have come under Stephen Davis' searchlight in the first place, ending up on his list of the inculpated. All I shall propose at this stage is that an international panel be set up to examine all allegations, irrespective of status or office of any accused. The unleashing of a viperous cult like Boko Haram on peaceful citizens qualifies as a crime against humanity, and deserves that very dimension in its resolution. If a people must survive, the reign of impunity must end. Truth – in all available detail – is in the interest, not only of Nigeria, the sub-region and the continent, but of the international community whose aid we so belatedly moved to seek. From very early beginnings, we warned against the mouthing of empty pride to stem a tide that was assuredly moving to inundate the nation but were dismissed as alarmists.

We warned that the nation had moved into a state of war, and that its people must be mobilized accordingly – the warnings were disregarded, even as slaughter surmounted slaughter, entire communities wiped out, and the battle began to strike into the very heart of governance, but all we obtained in return was moaning, whining and hand-wringing up and down the rungs of leadership and governance. But enough of recriminations – at least for now. Later, there must be full accounting.

Finally, Stephen Davis also mentions a Boko Haram financier within the Nigerian Central Bank. Independently we are able to give backing to that claim, even to the extent of naming the individual. In the process of our enquiries, we solicited the help of a foreign embassy whose government, we learnt, was actually on the same trail, thanks to its independent investigation into some money laundering that involved the Central Bank. That name, we confidently learnt, has also been passed on to President Jonathan. When he is ready to abandon his accommodating policy towards the implicated, even the criminalized, an attitude that owes so much to re-election desperation, when he moves from a passive "letting the law to take its course" to galvanizing the law to take its course, we shall gladly supply that name.

In the meantime however, as we twiddle our thumbs, wondering when and how this nightmare will end, and time rapidly runs out, I have only one admonition for the man to whom so much has been given, but who is now caught in the depressing spiral of diminishing returns: "Bring Back Our Honour."

Photos: "People say I look like Nicki Minaj"-Transgender woman has more than a 100 bum injections

A transgender woman has had more than 100 black-market injections to achieve her 60-inch bum - despite her friends dying due to similar operations.Tatiana Williams, 42, has spent £60,000 sculpting her body over the past 20 years - including injections that have filled each bum cheek with a incredible 8lb of silicone. Ms Williams, who lives in Miami, Florida, has had breast enhancements, chin implants, facial fillers and laser surgery - all without visiting a licensed surgeon.
She said:
'Going to the black market is a big risk. People can die from these injections.'I've seen people eaten up by the silicone. I've seen them turn black-and-blue and not being able to walk anymore. I've seen people have their whole breast taken off. I've seen everything. It's cheaper on the black market and people are willing to take the risks to achieve the beauty.I'm one of the lucky ones and I knock on wood everyday thanking God that he brought me through.
'I love Kim Kardashian's body - it's beautiful. She's exactly what a woman should be.When it comes to me and celebrities, a lot of people compare me to Nicki Minaj'It makes me laugh because I'm thinking, 'I had a** before I even knew of Nicki or before she was even around''Maybe Nicki's actually got an ass like me.'

"I don't have a single friend who hasn't had something done.I've had countless surgeries. I got my injections done by three people. I won't say their names, but I went to Guadalajara in Mexico for some procedures and the rest were done here in Miami, Florida.'Before the surgery my butt was about 25 inches - now it is more like 60 inches. It's hard to say how many injections I had - after a while you start to lose count. But I would have to say it must be something in the region of over a hundred...at least.' "
With a body like this, you pretty much get whatever you want. Men tend to put me up on a pedestal and treat me like a queen. 'I'm not in a relationship but If I find the right man I'll go with it. But it's not that important to me.''I don't recommend people copy what I did - but I'm a risk taker and it has been a success.'I'm in the body I have created and enjoying the lifestyle it has afforded me.I have no regrets about being the beautiful woman I am

Man Locks Wife In Bathroom For 3 Years For Giving Birth To A Girl

wm

A 25-year-old mother was locked in a bathroom for three years and banned from seeing her child because she gave birth to a girl.
The Indian woman found with overgrown nails and torn clothes could not open her eyes in the sunlight. And she wept inconsolably when her daughter did not recognise her.
According to the International Business Times, Chief officer Seema Kumari said:

'The woman could barely open her eyes in the sunlight, as she had survived in darkness and dim light, closeted in the small space. 'The woman revealed that she was thrown into the bathroom and locked there. She was not allowed to see her child, and given leftover food irregularly. It was as if her in-laws were seeking revenge for not bringing ample dowry and for giving birth to a girl child.'

Police officials said that the victim was married to Prabhat Kumar Singh in 2010 but soon after the wedding, she was allegedly repeatedly tortured by her husband and in-laws and told to bring in more dowry. When the dowry demands were unmet and she gave birth to a baby girl, she was locked up.

"She was never allowed to go meet her parents. When her relatives visited Darbhanga to meet her, they were dissuaded or shooed away.
"She was also barred from interacting with anybody from outside. She immediately asked for her three-year-old daughter and wept inconsolably when the child could not recognize her,"

The victim was eventually rescued by police after her father Shyam Sundar Singh filed a complaint at the Darbhanga police station.
