APC On PDP: Everything Built On Fraud, Corruption And Evil Will Collapse

All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has described the massive defection of prominent members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC as the hurricane that will eventually dismantle the political culture of graft, corruption and impunity in governance in Nigeria.

Reacting to the defection of 37 PDP members of the House of Representatives to the APC, the party said, "This is a unique situation which will resonate throughout the country and cripple the forces of retrogression that have been at the core of the country's descent into a banana republic."

A statement signed by Osun APC's director of publicity, research and strategy, Barr. Kunle Oyatomi said, "It will be a costly error for anybody to reduce this event to a sheer struggle for political power."

According to the APC, "A force perhaps, beyond our comprehension, has struck at the monstrous head of evil in Nigeria right there in Abuja, which will cause the PDP house built on sand to collapse with a thunderous sound," adding that, "things cannot be the same anymore with the ruling party because what held it together has melted from its own heat - corruption, graft, mismanagement of funds and total misrule of Nigeria."

The party referred to the utter misuse of illegitimate violence to muzzle dissent and terrorise opposition parties, rig elections and frustrate the will of the majority of the people, as a crime that was playing out with impunity in several states.

"The wind of change does not recognise obstacles," the APC said, adding that "everything built on fraud, corruption and evil will collapse. The PDP cannot be an exception."

Nigeria Music Industry Is A Jungle – Akin Tofowomo

The Shuga Band is one of the most successful live bands
around. The music band, for 16 years, has performed in
major gigs and virtually before dignitaries all over the
country and beyond. The CEO, Akin Tofomowo, speaks
about his journey so far, the state of the music industry
among other issues.

Influences: I listened to a lot of music from Jazz, R&B,
pop and from my own background. My father used to play
and listen to Ayinla Omowura, Ayinde Bakare, Frank
Sinatra, Hubert Ogunde and the likes. Growing up, I was
enthralled by the arts of watching videos like Ogboju, Ode
Nigbo and Irunmole. That was how deep I was culturally.
Listening to deep Yoruba and Igbo lyrics was part of my
formative days.

My Work: Africa Christian Medley: I have done a song
for MKO Abiola before and a couple of works with other
people. My present work is the African Christmas Medley.
The decision to record this was borne out of the fact that
Christmas is nostalgic for me and other people. It is a part
of us whether you are a Christian or not. Africa Christmas
Medley album has something for everybody. Is it the
Dansaki track in Yoruba which eulogises Jesus Christ or the
Onye Nzoputa in Igbo that praises God?

Everybody loves Christmas music and this album is there
for those who love good music. It has eight tracks and there
is a song for everyone. During the yuletide season, we
perform almost everyday. We deliberately leave some days
so that we can have some time.

Shuga Band and Our Music: As a live band, we are
designed to play all genres of music. It's our love for music
and arts that makes us to do so. Our music is influenced by
the niche that we find in the market segmentation. We are a
company, a band that keeps finding what our clients want
and work towards satisfying them. I have a 14-piece band
and some have been with me for nine years, some six years
and we have travelled far and wide – Dubai, Paris and Sri
Lanka.

A lot of them are graduates and we all understand what it
means to be a live band. On the average, we perform over a
hundred gigs per year. Our band is as sweet as the name
implies. We started with four-piece band members. Live
music is just one of what we do. We do other things; when
we are not performing, I am recording sound somewhere.
We won the Best Band of the Year months ago by WEBS
Awards.

Foundation and Growing Up: My father was a top judge,
not just a magistrate judge and we had cooks, drivers and
house helps living with us. From Port Harcourt to Enugu to
Calabar to Lagos, these were where we lived and it was a
good experience.

My foundation, Shuga Limb Foundation, is spurred out to
provide people with mobility aids and not to eradicate
polio. I am not concerned with eradicating polio but helping
people who have suffered polio. I had polio as a child and I
grew up with that but my patents never made me feel as a
lesser child.

I was not handicapped as it were. I can't remember my
limitation as a child as we had so many house aids working
in my house. Recently my wife asked me, was there ever a
time when your limitation came to the fore? I told her
never! I can't remember. I played football and was a goal
keeper in my neighbourhood in Enugu GRA where we
lived. I was the shot stopper and the preferred number one
goal keeper. You can imagine that. My friends would come
to my house and ask of me, the shot stopper, and my
parents would wonder. I was that good and did not see any
limitation. It was later that when I have grown up now that
I became conscious of the limitation. I attended UI briefly
after which I went to LASU to study Political Science.

How we function as a Live Band: For live performance,
our clientele goes from me to you. We perform live at your
wedding, your birthday or your gig. As a live band
musician, we build our clientele from the scratch. Other
artistes use the radio or TV to showcase themselves but we
use the oldest form of communication which is performing
live at your event. We go for a gig and our client
appreciates our performance and tells another and our fan
base grows massively. We are exposed to different levels of
performances. We are trending and do what our fans would
love us to do. It's not like normal musicians who need the
radio, TV and newsprint to make them known. No one can
say, play my jazz songs from 9am to 12pm. That is what a
live performance does.We have done concerts before like,
Tyme Out with Tee A.

Even when we are not performing, we are recording
somewhere. We run an entertainment company and we also
have an 8-5 job. The band only plays when there is a
booking; we have other things we do. Shuga Entertainment
owns the band but the band is managed by One Stream
Global. They manage other acts and other bands too. One
thing about Shuga Band is that without being arrogant, we
do our work well and pamper our clients. Part of the
challenge is that we have to be spontaneous to utilise our
instinct to deliver what songs people like the day before and
we have performed at a burial ceremony. The people's
reactions determine the flow of our music.

Performing in Sri Lanka (Asian Country): It was a great
experience. We performed in the midst of mixed races; we
had people from America, Greece, Montecarlo and also
Nigerians. It was a traditional Asian wedding between a
Nigerian and Sri Lankan. They had their band; that was the
beauty of it. They also performed first and their band did so
well. We came to do our thing and trust me, they were
thrilled. They said they had never seen something like this
before. One thing about Shuga band is that, not sounding
arrogant, we more than deliver! The father of the bride was
so thrilled.

My Marriage and Family Life: I am married for almost
five years now. We did the traditional wedding years ago.
Two things you can't take away from me are my family and
my music. I like a compact family.

Music Industry, a Jungle: The music industry is a jungle
and largely unstructured. You record a piece of music and
another person claims the credit. There are four agencies
that work for the interest of artistes. For example you
record in Nigeria, one of the agencies will collect your
royalties for you in London or wherever. Who is doing that
here? We have lacked structures for a while now.

If you record a song and it's not successful, you hide from
view. I know major music labels in Nigeria and the
independent ones. What are the distribution channels?
There are only four major labels in the world. Nigeria has
no major label; we used to have. Where are the Tabansi
Records? They are no more. What a major label does is
that when a song is released, the distribution channels in
places like Enugu and others will push your music. Do you
know the amount of financial resources at their disposal?
It's huge and we don't have that here. And you know
musicians here don't respect contracts.

Also musicians make more than what bankers earn but the
money just goes out like that. That's why in my company,
we don't pay them cash, we pay into their account and help
them plan their finances. Money management is what a lot
of artistes don't have. As a musician, you manage what you
have now properly because you won't always have the
clients the way you do now.

Jakande to Leaders: ‘Save Nigeria from collapsing’

Following the nagging issues in the polity, Alhaji Lateef
Kayode Jakande, a former governor of Lagos State, also
known as LKJ, bares his mind on the demise of Madiba,
corruption, the education sector and leadership.
For Jakande, whose emergence as an upright leader was the
product of his service delivery and the simple life he led in a
country where vanity was beginning to creep in and where
folly had taken the place of virtuous living, it is indeed fitting
that he should speak truth to power on the issue of corruption.
In fact, Jakande pooh-poohed the situation where leaders pay
lip service to the developmental needs of the people. He gave
examples of how his administration in Lagos State was able to
turn the tide.

His words: "I remember that when we came into office in
1979, our priority was to give quality education to the masses.
We had three shifts of learning – morning, afternoon, evening
– and we were able to accomplish it. So if we could
accomplish it during our time in office, why can't they
accomplish those petty projects now? I pray that God should
touch the hearts of our leaders".
For the former governor who was fondly referred to as Baba
Kekere (a reference to him as Junior Obafemi Awolowo),
governance is about determination and the need to serve the
people.

"It is very simple, once you put your mind in the right place,
you will certainly achieve. In public service, the average
Nigerian must come first and that was the reason I was able to
resolve educational problems in Lagos State within a week.
Some people thought it was also impossible when I said we
were going to build houses all over the place, saying the
houses would be poultry houses. I hope the critics are still
alive today to witness what they thought would be poultry
houses. What matters most is determination and clear cut
program".

Excerpts:
How do you see the demise of Dr. Nelson Mandela?
Nelson Mandela was a great man. When he was alive, he
made public service inspiring because he lived his life in all
possible difficulties and I am grateful to God for the enviable
life he lived. What would South-Africa have become today if
not for the anti-apartheid struggle led by him. Apartheid is
now a thing of the past in South-Africa. We have every reason
to thank God for creating a man like Mandela. I pray, may he
sleep well.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has written to President
Goodluck Jonathan saying he is unfit to run for the
presidential race in 2015 and describing his government as
corrupt. Do you share his perspective?
I am not interested in any open letter to anybody neither will I
comment on it, but the level of corruption in this country is a
national tragedy and we have never had it so bad. (In
retrospect, the allegation of corruption which forced the
military to overthrow the Second Republic now appears
misplaced in the context of what is presently going on in the
country).
So many people in this part of the world see you in good light
based on your contributions as an Awoist in terms of politics,
health and education.

What is your take on the education sector in Nigeria today?
I am not quite happy with what is going on.
For instance, I am very sad that university lecturers could stay
out of work for more than five months. It is a thing of shame
on both ASUU and the Federal Government because the
government carries the burden; the government should have
done everything possible to prevent such a situation from
happening.
At the end of the day, it is those who cannot afford private
universities that suffer and this country cannot afford such
situation to happen.

What is your view on dilapidated structures in primary and
secondary schools nationwide?
It is very disappointing to see those who benefited from the
free education we initiated during our tenure doing virtually
nothing to bail out the nation. I would like to appeal to my
friends and colleagues in government to give education
priority; after all, the future belongs to children.
I remember that when we came into office in 1979, our
priority was to give quality education to the masses. We had
three shifts of learning – morning, afternoon, evening – and
we were able to accomplish it.

So if we could accomplish it during our time in office, why
can't they accomplish those petty projects now? I pray that
God should touch the hearts of our leaders.
Nothing is more rewarding than building men of stature. The
other day when I was in a gathering, I met some people that
came to appreciate me saying they were products of my
educational system.

I can never thank God enough for the privilege because I ask
myself every time what would these people have turned out to
be if they had not had such opportunity.
I pray that God will enter the hearts of our present leaders. All
we hear them talk about now is spending billions on projects
that do not add to our progress.

How do you react to the embattled PDP governors that
decamped to APC?
Quite frankly, the idea of moving from one party to another
does not help the country.
People in partisan politics should do it on the basis of
commitment and not moving from one party to another for
any reason. If they have problem in their party, let them
resolve it. Let conservatives be conservatives and the
progressives be where they are and look at service to our
people which is the major thing we need.
I hope they spare us these nagging issues.
What we need is service to the people.

Are you impressed with the performance of today's leaders in
office?

Most of our leaders today are not helping Nigeria, but I pray
God will make Nigeria better.
They should save the country from collapsing. They should
put the interest of the Nigerian people at heart. They should
go into politics with the determination to serve because there
are so many things to be done and this country is greatly in
need of them and I hope that they clear up the mess in order
to get back to the right course of serving our people.
If you have the opportunity to correct anything, what would it
be?

It is very simple, once you put your mind in the right place,
you will certainly achieve. In public service, the average
Nigerian must come first and that was the reason I was able to
resolve educational problems in Lagos State within a week.
Some people thought it was also impossible when I said we
were going to build houses all over the place, saying the
houses would be poultry houses. I hope the critics are still
alive today to witness what they thought would be poultry
houses. What matters most is determination and clear cut
program.

What is your advice for Nigerian leaders?
Nigeria is growing and we have a great future. I am totally
convinced that we shall get there because this is a country
created by God and we will not go back. God has given us all
the resources we need to be a great country, why should we
fail?

'I was forced to pay a godfather N10m monthly as governor ' - Mbadinuju

Former Anambra state governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju (1999
to 2003) tells Saturday Punch:

Well, a godfather has many connotations. You could have
positive godfathers and negative ones. The good ones
work towards making things work and succeed but if you
have a godfather that is always challenging, he wants to
make appointments, if you have 10 commissioners, he
would want to have three or four. After you have given
him two commissioners, he will say he wants Special
Advisers, Special Assistants and he will even want to
choose their portfolios but I said these things are not done
like that and they said it is done like that, that is
controversy.

There is a godfather who had an arrangement with the
military that he would be paid N10m every month, I
wasn't there when the agreement was made. When I tried
to stop it, I was dragged to President Obasanjo's office
and I told Obasanjo this is the situation I found on ground
and Obasanjo said I had to go back and continue paying it;
that it was legal. At what stage did I renege? They will
always try to give a dog a bad name in order to hang it.

Obasanjo gave them contracts worth billions of naira, they
were super rich, there was nothing I could give to them.

You mean Obasanjo asked you to pay this godfather;
who is he?

Yes, Obasanjo asked me to pay. The godfather is one of
the Uba family.

Military hunts Boko Haram after daring barracks attack

KANO – Nigeria's military has surrounded a village in the
northeast to flush out Islamist rebels who fled there after
reportedly snatching soldiers' wives and children during a
daring attack on an army barracks nearby, witnesses told AFP
Saturday.

Suspected Boko Haram fighters stormed the barracks in the
town of Bama early on Friday, spraying it with bullets before
torching the compound.

Several Bama residents told AFP the insurgents also abducted
several of the soldiers' wives and children during the attack.
Asked about those details, northeastern military spokesman
Mohammed Dole refered AFP to Nigeria's defence headquarters.

Defence spokesman Chris Olukolade could not be reached for
comment.

Bama residents said the Boko Haram gunmen fled to the
nearby village of Abbaram after the attack, where the military
sent hundreds of troops on Saturday.

"The soldiers have besieged the village and more troops are
deploying in hundreds," said Ibrahim Idris.

"Nothing is happening yet but from the huge number of troops
deploying and the large number of Boko Haram in the village
one can imagine what may happen".

Karim Bunu, who also lives in Bama, described Abbaram as a
village of some 250 people.

"We are afraid of what will happen to the people of Abbaram
because whichever way one looks at it, they are facing a
serious security threat," he told AFP.

A third resident, who requested anonymity, said the Islamists
were holding in Abbaram the "women and children of
soldiers," who had been kidnapped during the Friday attack,
in an account supported by both Idris and Bunu.

In November, Human Rights Watch reported that Boko
Haram has increasingly used kidnappings as a tactic,
abducting scores of women and children this year.

After staging an attack on the military, the insurgents typically
flee to far away camps to evade pursuing troops, but their
escape was slowed on Friday by fighter jets which dropped
bombs on the major routes leading out of Bama, according to
the military and witnesses.

"I counted 18 burnt all-terrain vans belonging to the Boko
Haram gunmen pulverised by military jets," said the unnamed
resident, who identified himself as a member of a military-
backed vigilante force which has formed in the northeast to
fight the insurgents.

Air force jets continued to fly over the region on Saturday,
residents said.

The Bama attack was the second major Islamist assault on the
army this month, casting further doubt on official claims that
the rebels have been weakened by a seven-month-old military
offensive in the northeast.

Why I Am Bald- Ik Ogbonna

Ik Ogbonna in a new interview talks about his fashion
weakness and how he was born bald. Some people have said
this several times under the comment section, and I have
always laughed about it and said it is not true. So if you also
believe he is not, sorry you are sitting on a long thing. Ik says
he is. His words;

About his fashion weakness

My fashion weakness is the fact that I could be regarded as
metro sexual in looks especially because I am not confident in
wearing anything that's not fitted. I feel lost in clothes that are
not cut to fit my body. Apart from that I don't think I have
any weakness. I am a 6 feet tall, bald headed man sometimes
the kind of shorts I would love to rock won't go well with my
height and sometimes I wish to play with my hair but I am
bald. Finally, we all know I have a crush on Genevieve Nnaji
so whenever she's around I lose my guards, just joking.

How come a young man like you is bald?

Nature, hereditary traits, I am bald thanks to my Dad and I am
proud of it. The only challenge I face is how to maintain it.

Girls, seems like a good piece of news!

TB Joshua's Prophecy Now Being Fulfilled in South Sudan?

Sometime in late October or early November, Nigerian
prophet TB Joshua prophesied that an East Africa president
would be abducted by terrorists. Were it any other prophet,
that would probably have gone unreported, but TB Joshua was
right on the death of Malawi President Bingu wa Mutharika.
This prophecy was distorted by the internets, prompting his
ministry to release the statement below...

"This is an official message from Prophet T.B. Joshua and
The SCOAN. There are distorted rumors spreading on the
internet concerning T.B. Joshua's prophecy this past Sunday.
Rumors are saying that the man of God said that an East
African country will soon be kidnapped by terrorists and that
a night club would be blown up. Do not listen to the father of
lies.

"These are not the words used by the prophet. Prophet T.B.
Joshua specifically asked journalists not to misquote his
prophecy.

"He said that he saw a leader being captured. The prophet
instructed the people of God to fast and pray on Wednesday
and Thursday. He said Wednesday and Thursday had nothing
to do with what was going to happen, but the people of God
should fast and pray on those days. He also told the
congregation that he will stay in an attitude of prayer for the
country concerned, so that God might subdue this coming evil
to a mere sign.

"He said that the country concerned is not Kenya, but a
country close to it. He mentioned that it is the same country in
which a similar event took place while they were drinking and
dancing.

"He will continue to pray for them, but he will not mention
their names unless God instructs him to do so. This is because
many would begin to spread rumors and false allegations
against himself, the leader, and the country rather than pray
for them. He said if prayer and security are not in place, the
blood of thousands will be wasted. Let us all stay in an
attitude of faith and prayer, in Jesus' name."

The wording of the prophecy prompted many to claim that the
country in question was Uganda. This is especially because of
the 'drinking and dancing' part, since a nightclub in Uganda
was bombed a few years back.

Prophesies are however known to have deep interpretations,
and only the prophet knows exactly what he means.

That takes us to recent events in South Sudan, where Salva
Kiir's government has just survived a coup attempt. Fighting
is however still ongoing. Only time will tell whether TB
Joshua was talking about South Sudan.

Gunmen kill vaccinator in NW Pakistan: officials

PESHAWAR. (AFP) – Two gunmen shot dead a health worker administering polio drops and other vaccines to children in a restive Pakistani tribal region bordering Afghanistan on Saturday, officials said.

The murder took place at a government-run dispensary in
Jamrud town in the Khyber tribal district. The gunmen
ordered women and children to leave before shooting dead the
vaccinator, doctor Sameen Jan, the top health official in
Khyber told AFP.

Nobody immediately claimed responsibility for the killing, but
Taliban militants have been targeting health workers and
security personnel during vaccination campaigns.

A local administration official confirmed the incident and said
that the assailants left a note on the body warning of dire
consequences for anyone continuing to vaccinate children in
Khyber.

The attacks come despite a recent fatwa by a prominent
Pakistani religious scholar, known as the "Father of the
Taliban", who urged parents to immunise their children
against polio and other life-threatening diseases and said
vaccinations were compliant with Sharia.

Last year the Pakistani Taliban banned polio vaccinations in
the tribal region of Waziristan, alleging the campaign was a
cover for espionage.

Eradication efforts have also suffered due to long-standing
rumours that the vaccine was part of a Western plot to sterlise
Muslims.

Ansarul Mujahideen, a little-known militant group linked to
the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, the umbrella Taliban faction
in Pakistan, has threatened opposition leader and former
cricket hero Imran Khan for criticising attacks on polio
vaccination teams.

Khan on Wednesday declared polio workers as soldiers of
Islam and said those attacking them were not doing any
justice to humanity, Islam or Pakistanis.

Pakistan is one of three countries in the world where polio
remains endemic and efforts to stamp it out have been badly
affected by attacks on health workers inoculating children.

Polio is also endemic in Afghanistan and Nigeria.

According to the World Health Organization, Pakistan
recorded 72 cases of polio this year compared with 58 in
2012.

New Delhi last week announced it would require citizens from
Pakistan and other polio-affected nations travelling to India to
take a mandatory vaccination for the disease at least six weeks
prior to their departure.

Obasanjo’s letter to Jonathan borne out of mischief – Dan Ofongo

Hon. Daniel Ofongo represents Southern Ijaw federal constituency of Bayelsa State in the House of Representatives.

In this interview, he posits that the recent Letter from Former
President Olusegun Obasanjo to incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan was borne out of mischief to stop the
president in 2015. Excerpts:

An Avalanche of reactions has continued to trail former
President Olusegun Obasanjo's letter to the incumbent
President Goodluck Jonathan. What's your take on that?

For me, Obasanjo's letter to Mr. President, if it is not borne
out of mischief or if there is no hidden agenda in it, there is
nothing wrong in a former President writing a letter to the
present President. What I want to say looking at the heading
of the letter "Before it is too late", that statement itself is
pregnant. "Before it is too late", on what?

Or about what? Then if you look at the content of the letter, like I said, if it is with good intentions, there is no problem. But he wrote the letter as if he was advising him but later on went ahead to make statements that are very, very inciting.
For instance, the issue of training snipers and putting 1000 political opponents on political check list to be
killed or whatever he means.

That alone is very, very incisive because for somebody who does not know; they said, political opponents. So, does it mean that as a sitting President, you will not have opposition?

No.

There is no politician who does not have opposition. But
every one believes that the only way an opposition can come
over or the only way you as a sitting president or whatever
office you are holding as a sitting public officer is through the
ballots. It is either you win the person through elections or the
person wins you during election.

But coming out to say that people are being penciled-1000
political opponents, I think that statement in itself is not correct. I want to quote what he said. He said "allegation of
keeping over 1000 people in political watch list rather than
criminal or security watch list and training snipers and other
armed personnel secretly and clandestinely acquiring weapons
to match the political process like Abacha and training them
where Abacha trained his own killers, if it is true cannot augur
well for the initiators, government and the people of Nigeria."

He said it is an allegation then, if you go on, he says "if it is
true". So, Obasanjo knows it is an allegation. Ok, who are the
people that made the allegation? He's unable to explain it. Yet
he's still asking if it is true. What does he mean by "if it is
true?" So, he knows that it is not true before he made this
kind of spurious statement in a letter. That's to tell you that
his intentions are not genuine at all.

He pretends to be advising Mr. President yet he knows what
he is doing. That's why he started it with the heading "Before
it's too late". No body knows what Obasanjo means.

Let's say that as a former Head of State, former President for
8 years who also helped the incumbent to realize his
presidential ambition in 2011, Obasanjo knows Nigeria very
well. He raised grave concerns in his letter. But there seems to
be a play down on the message and the messenger. Shouldn't
Nigerians take the issues seriously?

Well, I wouldn't say it should be wished away. Of course, he
has made a statement. Me, I am not even looking at Obasanjo
but his intention. That's the most important thing. He has
been in the leadership of this country for 8 years. Let's keep
his years as a military ruler after the demise of Gen. Murtala
Mohammed aside. Now, those years he stayed in office, those
of the concerns he raised, what did he do about them? I want
to ask a very important question.

If Obasanjo had laid good foundations before Yar'Adua came
in and then Jonathan, let him mention those areas where he
laid good foundations, things were working and then Jonathan
came and things started going bad, things started retrogressing. Let him say it.

Because we all know that before Goodluck Jonathan came to
assume office as President of this country, Nigeria we know
had even gone so bad. There was military rule in this country
for over 20/30 years and we are all here. We know that there
are people who had been Heads of State in this country who
introduced and institutionalized and encouraged corruption.

Our refineries were working but they were no longer working.
The roads, at least were working, but they all went bad. Our
railways were working and they all went bad. Our airports,
things started going bad. Are they trying to tell us that it was
when Jonathan assumed office that things became so bad? No.
Obasanjo also alleged that there are hawks around the
president who are ill-advising him and that it doesn't augur
well for the administration and Nigerians

My reactions to it is that he knows those hawks. According to
him, he said that some of them were with him. So, assuming
the President doesn't know about it, why can't he call the
President about his good intention to advise him?

You see, you cannot say you are advising somebody and then
you make an open letter. If it is an open letter, come out with
you real intentions. Those hawks he said were with him that
are around Jonathan, let him mention them to him just as he
can mention about the snipers. Why can't he mention them?

He should if he has good intentions.

Some people say it is a gang up against Mr. President's
second term ambition while some dismiss that

It is obvious that it is a gang up against the second term
ambition. Well, constitutionally, the President has right to
contest for second term. If Obasanjo said that Mr. President
had agreement to run for only one term, well, that we don't
know.

The President has come to say he had not that kind of
agreement with anybody. Even the aggrieved PDP Governors
made those statements and he still challenged them and said
where is the agreement I had with you people? If there is any
document I signed to that effect, bring it and let us see.

Mind you, this same Obasanjo ruled this country for 8 years
even wanted a third term by trying to influence the National
Assembly to amend the constitution to enable him contest for
third term. And he failed. Now, this is a genuine case where a
sitting President has the right based on the existing constitution to contest a second term. And he is going against
it. Well, for me, I know that whatever thing he is doing is a
gang up.

How may you react to the call for impeachment of the
President by the Opposition Party (APC)?

That call is unnecessary because APC can not just get up and
say that the National Assembly should commence impeachment process on the president based on a letter
written by obasanjo. Like I earlier said on the issue of snipers.
In the letter, he said it's an allegation and he is going ahead to
say if it's true. So, something that is unfounded and APC is
now hanging on it.

Now, let me remind that APC came up with a statement
saying there is massive unemployment, insecurity everywhere,
so many issues and said that it seems the government of the
day has lost direction to which the Presidency replied and said
it amounts to treasonable felony.

Well, APC's statement, whether you call it unemployment,
corruption or whatever; is it Goodluck Jonathan that brought
in corruption in this country?

Or is it he that introduced corruption in this country? Like I
earlier said, the dilapidated state of infrastructure in this
country; was it Jonathan that made it? Let's face it. If all the
successive administrations had been employing youth,
employable youth, Graduate and non Graduate, if they had
been employing them, would this number have risen up to this
level?

So, that is to tell you it's a systemic failure, right from the
beginning ever before Goodluck Jonathan assumed office. If
for a given year, they say, for instance, 1000 Graduates are
supposed to be employed and over the years, they were being
employed by other administrations before Jonathan, then you
would have blamed Jonathan for not employing.

But Obasanjo himself or APC who equally have members
who have been leaders in the country, either they have been
state Governors or they have occupied one prominent position
or the other, if they themselves have not been able to do these
things before this time, why would they pack the whole thing
and put on the President's head? He is a sitting President. He
is fighting to see the best for Nigerians. I think they should
allow him to see the best he can do so long as he remains the
President of this country.

In your estimation, do you think that those issues were
actually treasonable?

For me, when you say treason, it is when you unlawfully
incite people to overthrow a sitting government. Now, issues
raised that the President has done things that amount to gross
misconduct.

What are those things? Have they found out if those things are
true? So, what they are trying to do is calling on the public to
overthrow a government. Of course, it is treasonable. Let
them first and foremost find out if these allegations are true.

They can't come up before the public and make unfounded
and spurious allegations and incite the public to go against a
sitting government. Of course, that in itself is treason.

So, they cannot say when they know that certain things are
not right, they know those things are unfounded yet they use
them to incite the public to go against the government. They
want to overthrow the government by force. Why can't APC
wait? They said they are very formidable, they are strong.

The only way political parties take over power from an
existing government is through the ballot. It is not by inciting
public through spurious allegations. So, APC should wait and
contest elections.

There is also this feeling that President Jonathan's government
is ethnic based instead of having a national spread. How may
you react?

The statement is wrong because one: President Jonathan even
though he comes from the minority being an Ijaw man was
not voted into office by only Ijaw people.

He was voted into office by every Nigerian and up till today,
it is people who do not mean well for the Ijaw nation like
Former President Obasanjo did by picking out Ijaw ethnic
nationality to say that President Jonathan will be the last Ijaw
President.

So long as I am concerned, every Nigerian irrespective of
your tribe or religion has the right to contest for any elective
position. Everybody has the right to vote and be voted for.
If today God has made it that Jonathan is in the office today,
we are involved including former Presidnet Obasanjo who
played a key role. But mind you, Obasanjo has one vote so
does every other Nigerian. And it is those votes that brought
Jonathan into office. So, to say that Jonathan's presidency has
been reduced to an Ijaw thing is not true. As we speak,
Jonathan has supporters across every ethnic nationality, every
religious group from the North to the South, from the East to
the West.

Up till date, he has his support base. So, for somebody to feel
that you are having issues with somebody whom they feel is
you benefactor, I don't think the best is not to come to the
public and start making this kind of statement.

The people making the statement are the people who are trying to bring ethnic or tribal sentiment into it. President
Jonathan has never for one day acted as a President that is for
the Ijaws only. He has never and I know he will never do
that.

Kano State government has said that it spent a whooping N278,269,990 to facilitate the wedding of 1,111 couples under the fourth phase of its divorcees, widows and spinsters mass marriage programme.

Kano State Governor Rabi'u Kwankwaso made this known
at a civic reception organized by the state government for
the new couples.

According to him, the money was used to procure furniture,
textile materials, foodstuff as well as provide grants for the
brides and other essential items.

Kwankwaaso who described the event as unprecedented in
the history of the West African sub-region, further stressed
that the marriage programme was initiated to help people
strengthen the family institution and halt social crimes in
the society, most of which were as a result of erosion of
family values.

He maintained that his administration also initiated a
special family orientation programme aimed at preventing
and minimizing the rising cases of divorce in the state in
addition to evolving capacity building programmes
especially for women to enable them support their families.

The governor also signed the Street Begging Bill 2013,
which prohibited children and adults from begging on the
streets and other public places into law during the occasion.

Violation of the law and other laws against human trafficking would attract stiff penalties, according to the governor.

Kano Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, explained
that 60 Christian couples were among those who were
wedded.

Police Release Top Official Rape Suspect Following Medical Report

Police in Ondo state has released a top official of the Akure Zonal Office of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, Mr. Boma Benibo, 59 who was alleged to have defiled a seven-year old girl.

Image Maker of the Command Wole Ogodo said that the released followed the medical report which exonerated him of the allegation.

According to Ogodo, who spoke to the journalists in Akure, the police cannot continue to detain the suspect when the medical report has laid to rest that the allegation against him was false.

A copy of the report signed by Dr E O Adewale said that the victim in questio, Tomide Babadipe was not defiled as alleged by her parents.

The extract from the medical document reads:

"The above named child was brought into this faculty on 16th December 2013 with complaints of sexual assualt meted on her by a neighbour on Dec 10th 2013. Examination revealed a young girl with normal female external genitalia, intact hymen at the introitus. There was no signs of defilement in the recent time."

Girl's parents had reported to the police that the neighbour defiled their little daughter at there 18, Kola ogunmola Street, Ijapo Estate, Akure last week Tuesday. Following this Benibo was arrested.

Ogodo then said the "police was going to do a medical test on the girls to ascertain if the Beribo actually penetrated the girl.

He said,

"Yes, it is true, but we have a little problem to resolve, because the girl, on interrogation said the man was fiddling with his private part and did not penetrate her.The police is trying to take her to the hospital so that a proper medical examination will be done to determine the fact of the matter,"

He stated this in Lagos while unfolding his predictions for
2014 before journalists.

pray against premature death as the country and his new party
approaches 2015, saying the forces that killed Marshall Harry
might do the same to him.

What President Jonathan Has To Say On “Unexpected” Boko Haram Attacks

AIn the aftermath of the most recent Boko Haram attack on Bama Town in Borno State, Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan vowed to ensure provision of more sophisticated firepower for the military to deal with the security challenges posed by terrorists.

The President defined the persistent attacks as "unexpected".

"We are being overwhelmed in some incidents. We will surely get over it. We will work with you [the military] to see what we can provide to make sure that you are in position to defend our nation," he said.

"We will work with you to ensure you are in position to protect lives, you are in position to protect properties of Nigerians, you are in position to make sure that the
environment is peaceful, and that Nigerians can move freely from one part of the country to the other without being afraid that somebody would point the trigger at them."

Following the Bama attack, the President summoned the
Service Chiefs and the Inspector General of Police for an
emergency meeting on the issue.

To the new Generals, he said, "On behalf of your country and men and women, I congratulate all of you. It is not easy to wear two stars.

That is almost the terminal position in the armed forces.

Any other one is by the grace of God.

"And to be so elevated as two star generals; we know that
you must have passed through storms, you must have endured several winters, both rainy season, dry season to get there. You wives must have also been well picked to survive this period. But we thank God that today you are being so decorated.

"But it is a very, very challenging moment. It is a very
challenging period in this country and we expect as the
saying goes that those to whom more is given much is
expected. For those of you who are decorated as full two
star generals, we expect that you bring your experience to
bear.

"We must work together as a team to make sure that the
armed forces are able to protect lives and property of
Nigerians. If we don't do that, then of course the reputation
of the country will continue to go down.

"A number of issues are being raised in the media which
you know much more than I do, which are so much of a
challenge on the armed forces and other security agencies
of this country. All of us collectively must stand up to our
responsibility and go the extra mile; we need to add the
extra to see that as a nation we overcome these challenges."

"I am quite impressed with what is going on in the services.

I am seeing creativity and innovation in the three arms.

From the army, I have seen a lot of initiative, creativity,
innovation, in terms of their own equipment that before this
time were all reconfigured or maintained abroad; which you
are doing yourself.

"The same thing with the Navy, and Airforce. Not too long
ago, in Kaduna, we were quite impressed with the
unmanned aerial vehicle that we saw. We saw the people
who did it, very young people from the Nigerian Air Force.
This shows initiative, this shows creativity.

"We also saw the wind tunnel. We were told that they were
imported into the country in 1984. My assumption was that
the Shagari government imported them into the country.
But only recently, they were able to couple it for use.

"So you have seen that for quite some time, probably, we at
the leadership level of this country have not been doing
things the way we suppose to do. I believe that the number
of things that the Arned Forces supposed to have gotten
over these periods, they don't have."

Among the 46 Major Generals and equivalent decorated are
Major General Adeniyi Oyebade, Brigade Commander, 19
Brigade Ikeja, Rear Admiral Ahmadu, Commander Central
Pay office, Lagos , Air Vice Marshal Victor Udoh, Major
General Sanusi Muazu, Major General Leton Wiwa, Arear
Admiral Joseph Okojie and Air Vice Marshal Nahogo
Nzokala.

“Going to Africa, hope I don’t get aids. I’m white” – Justine Sacco

Justine Sacco, the communications director for InterActiveCorp, better known as IAC based in New York,
tweeted what you see above from an airport in London on her way to board a flight to an African country. How a cringe-worthy statement like this is 'Just kidding' is beyond me.

Unfortunately for Ms Sacco she couldn't take the tweet down
for hours because she was on a long flight to Africa…by the
time she landed several hours later, not only was there an
outcry on Twitter, her job was also on the line.

The company she works for quickly responded by releasing a
statement

"This is an outrageous, offensive comment that does not
reflect the views and values of IAC.

Unfortunately, the employee in question is unreachable on an
international flight, but this is a very serious matter and we
are taking appropriate action." the company said in a
statement.

The tweet was deleted late last night (American time) very
early this morning (African time). Not only that, Ms Sacco's
entire Twitter account has

been deleted. There are also reports that she has been fired by
IAC. What an ignorant and tasteless statement to make…even
as a joke.

House Of Reps Committee Walks Ngozi Okonjo Iweala Out Of Meeting

The Representatives Committee on Finance, on Thursday, walked out the Coordinating Minister of Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, from its
meeting it called over the state of the economy of the
country from January till date.

The minister, alongside the Accountant-General of the
Federation, Mr Jonah Ogunniyi Otunla, had appeared before
the committee, chaired by Honourable Abdulmumin Jibrin,
but trouble started when she told the committee that she was
not feeling fine and that she honoured the invitation out of
respect.

"I must tell you that I'm feeling sick. For the past one week,
I've not had sleep, so I'm not feeling fine. But I had to come
because I respect the parliament and the committee. I'll try
my best to respond to your questions as much as possible, and
my other colleagues who are also here with me will
contribute," she said.

Following her explanations, Honourable Jibrin, in consultation
with other members of the committee, ruled that they could
not take on the minister but that they would give her "the 50
questions" for which she must respond to in writing.

Trouble, however, started when the minister insisted that she
should be allowed to respond to the questions, saying "since
I'm here now, I want to respond to the questions in person."

The chairman insisted that he had ruled and there was no
going back on the matter, insisting that the minister should
provide written answers within two weeks and appear before
the committee in January but the minister was still adamant,
asking them to hear her out.

When the situation became tensed, Honourable Jibrin walked
out Okonjo-Iweala, saying "you know I have ruled and if you
don't mind, please excuse us. Members should stay behind for
executive meeting. We don't want any haphazard answers, so
you can go honourable minister."

Okonjo-Iweala, who was not happy with the situation, said "I
have uttermost respect for the committee and expect same
from you. I'm a minister of the Federal Republic. When you
invite ministers, you should treat them with respect. We can't
be invited and be abused."

Penis Piercing Enhances Sex

Yesterday I was watching CCTV I saw a news about Dennis
Rodman who was said to have arrived North Korea to train
basketball team -mates.
I discovered something about that man. He has lots of
piercings all about his face. It looks disgusting to me. And
before this, time I had always think that body piercing had no
benefits. Yesterday, I made little research on body piercing
and I realised it is not what have been thinking.
Body piercing is simply put, mutilation of the body in order to
look good or in a way of creating a unique look for oneself.
Body peircing started with the slaves, their owners do this in
order to identify them. Piercing is not only for humans but
also for animals as well, especially cattles. The same reason
for body piercing for slave goes for the animals.
Body piercing can be complicated if handled carelessly. It
must be done under clean environment.
Piercing of the body has varieties few of them are: Prince
Albert, Reverse Prince Albert, the Dydo, the Apdravia etc.
Today we are talking about male piercing called Frenum
piercing. This is done at the under-side of the shaft of the
penis. This type of piercing has been said to enhance sexual
organsms for the male and female.
Frenum piercing is done exactly at the bottom of where the
penis's shaft and the head of the penis meet. The loose skin
(shaft) is pinched marking the entrance and the exit hole. A 12
guage needle is used for the actual piercing. Subsequently, a
forcept is applied and a barbell is inserted.
Penis is highly vascular and because of this, the healing is
fast. The heal time is from 5 weeks to 6 months. Not all
piercings are successful, migration sometimes occurs.
Migration is when the body rejects or pushes out the jewelry
inserted in the cause of the pirrcing. Migration is said to
occure on rare occasions when it comes to Frenum piercing.
But to avoid mugration, the patient is advised to avoid sex
before the piercing.
Sex is also advised to be avoided after the pierrcing till full
healling occurence. If for any reason the patient cannot avoid
having sex after the piercing, then strict usage of condom is
recommended.

Prostitution Is No Longer a Crime In Canada

Canada's top court has overturned all restrictions on prostitution, declaring that existing laws violated s*x workers'
right to safety.

The Supreme Court of Canada struck down bans on brothels,
street solicitation, and living on the earnings of prostitution in
a unanimous 9-0 decision on Friday, and gave the Canadian
government one year to re-write the country's prostitution
laws.

While prostitution itself is technically legal in Canada, most
prostitution-related activities were previously considered
criminal offences.

In the decision, Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin said many
prostitutes "have no meaningful choice" but to "engage in the
risky economic activity of prostitution," and that the law
should not make such activities more dangerous.

"It makes no difference that the conduct of pimps and johns is
the immediate source of the harms suffered by prostitutes,"
McLachlin wrote.

"The impugned laws deprive people engaged in a risky, but
legal, activity of the means to protect themselves against those
risks."

The legal challenge to Canada's prostitution laws was brought
by a group of s*x workers who argued that the now- overturned restrictions put them in danger.

Katrina Pacey, a lawyer for the petitioners, called it "an
unbelievably important day for the s*x workers but also for
human rights."

"The court recognized that s*x workers have the right to
protect themselves and their safety," she said.

Last year, a lower court in the province of Ontario struck
down the ban on brothels on the grounds that it exposed s*x
workers to more danger.

Friday's ruling comes 34 years after the Supreme Court last
upheld Canada's anti-prostitution laws.

Prostitution is legal in much of Europe and Latin America,
and brothels are legal in numerous countries, including the
Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland.

Photos: Don Jazzy Grateful To D’banj, Wande Coal For Flytime Entertainment Legend Award!

Don Jazzy received the Flytime Entertainment Legend Awards given to him during the just concluded Harp Rhythm Unplugged and while on the podium Don Jazzy expressed
surprise that he was considered for the awards. "I did not even
know that they give award to people at Rhythm Unplugged,"
he said.

Accepting the award, Don Baba Jay as he is often referred to
by friends and fans thanked D'banj, Wande Coal and the
Mavins for the award because without them, he would not
have had the award. Wyclef and Bovi, hosts of the comedy
show, made sure there was no boring moment. Bovi showed
the reason why he was considered an ace comedian by making
sure people rolled on the floor with laughter.

A major highlight of the event was when the comedy merchant wanted to deceive the American into calling him his
boss. Bovi told Wyclef that when you want to greet a
Nigerian you say, "You be my oga patapata." However, the
American did not fall for the trick as he told the comedian
that, "Are you trying to make me say you are my boss? No
way!" The American further challenged the Nigerian
comedian to a rap battle for his YouTube channel. According
to the crowd's chants and cheers, Bovi beat Wyclef hands
down.

Why I can’t stop sticking my tongue out – Miley Cyrus explains

Controversial musician, Miley Cyrus has earned a reputation
for always having her tongue outside her mouth.

The former Disney star has earned notoriety for this and her
infamous raunchiness as displayed in her "Wrecking ball"
video.

Miley might never offer an explanation for her various other
stunts, but at least she has an explanation for why she
repeatedly sticks out her tongue in photos.

The Daily Mirror Reports:

Serial twerker and tongue wagger Miley Cyrus has finally
revealed why her tongue spends most of its time on the wrong
side of her mouth.

The Wrecking Ball singer admitted she sticks it out in pictures
because she doesn't "know how to smile" and it makes her
feel "awkward" if she's standing there grinning.

Miley, who's been getting all grindy with Santa lately, said:

"I get embarrassed to take pictures. That's actually the truth.

"I'm so embarrassed, because people are taking pictures of me, and I just don't know how to – I don't know how to smile, and just be awkward, so I stick my tongue out, because
I don't know what else to do."

A closer look at Apple's new Mac Pro workstation (hands-on)

We know, we know: everyone who's seen it says it looks like a trashcan. But surely there's something else to say about Apple's new Mac Pro workstation, right? The thing is, until now, any tech blogger who's spent any time with it has had to take photos through a glass case (read: they didn't really spend any time with it). Finally, though, the Mac Pro is on sale, and we've just come home with a review unit, meaning we've finally had the chance to lay our hands on it. In person, it somehow feels smaller and shorter than I imagined, at 9.9 inches tall. Either way, it should take up minimal space if you're working on location -- and yes, given that it's only 11 pounds, you could certainly schlep it around if needed.

Aesthetically, the anondized aluminum is more reflective than any of Apple's other products, which also means it's more fingerprint-prone. (Not necessarily an issue if you plan on having it tucked away, though you'll definitely notice it if you engage in some of that aforementioned schlepping.) It also looks less black than it does on Apple's site -- more like the "Space Gray" that it actually is. As it happens, that case is easy to unlock and slip off, on the rare occasion that you want to replace the RAM, storage or one of the GPUs. Hopefully, of course, you won't need to do this often. And besides, the machine won't actually turn on unless you have the case locked in, so keeping the lid off indefinitely simply isn't an option. Even with the lid on, though, the four USB 3.0 ports, six Thunderbolt 2 sockets, HDMI port and dual Ethernet jacks are easy to access, thanks to a cut-out in the aluminum enclosure.

And what of performance? Well, we'd hardly be doing the machine justice if we did a deep dive now, but rest assured we'll be putting the Pro through its paces over the coming days, with a full review to follow soon. Suffice to say, we've already seen it play back 16 simultaneous 4K streams in the new version of Final Cut Pro, with zero waiting time as effects were applied to the original footage. Stay tuned for much more on that front and for now, enjoy some (honest-to-goodness) hands-on photos above.

Android smartphone made of solid titanium now available for $1,800

In the past, luxury handset manufacturer Gresso has been known for dressing up iPhones with diamonds (and charging $30,000 for the deed) and producing featurephones, but now it's getting into the Android business with its limited edition Radical smartphone series. The bottom-line model, the ÞTRadical R1, goes for $1,800 and is made of grade 5 solid titanium, while you can also grab a $2,300 version, which features a logo plate adorned with your choice of white or yellow 18K gold (everything else is exactly the same, however). Not too shabby, but the downside is that they don't necessarily come with the flagship specs you might come to expect from phones that cost a third of the price: The 219g (7.73-ounce) Radicals come with Android 4.1.2, a 4.5-inch qHD screen, dual SIM support, an 8MP rear camera, 36GB internal storage and a quad-core 1.2GHz processor. Don't wait long to decide, however -- only 999 units are available.

Nude Photos: Maheeda Explains Why She Posts Nude Pics Online + Another New Nude Pics Released

Maheeda, who insists she's a gospel singer, tells Galaxy TV

"I'm not posting those nude pictures on the internet to
teach people to start going naked, I posted them because I
felt I am sexy and I love sexuality. In Europe, where I
live, at a certain age, parents will start to teach their
children about sex education. But it is unfortunate that I
came from this part of the world where sentiment is
attached to everything.

I'm 31 years old and I can't pretend to behave like a baby
or something. I'm sexy and I like it. I'm still spiritually
inclined and I have some gospel songs which are not out
yet. One of them is Papangolo. Those nude pictures you
see is Maheeda. That is me. I am just expressing myself.
I'm sexy and I am only appreciating that fact because I
love sexuality.
