Sitting with opposite sex is strictly prohibited — Imam Yunus

Imam Talihat Yunus is the Chief Imam, Adiam Memorial
Central Mosque Iporo Ake, Abeokuta. He speks on sitting
arrangement or what some people called segregation of
women in mosque. Excerpts
Sitting with or among the opposite sex is strictly prohibited.
When men and women sits together, it results to different
mishaps happening in our society like fornication, adultery,
sexually transmitted diseases and even unwanted pregnancies.
The major reason for this segregation in Islam is that
whatever you are close to, can make you sin. The only reason
that a man and woman can sit together in Islam is only when
the two parties are related by blood.
The Qur'an went as far as teaching us that in Islam, men and
women should not handshake, hug or peck the opposite sex
that they are not related with. The sitting arrangement in the
mosque is a vivid example of what is expected of Muslims
whereby where the menfolk will be seated will be different
from where the female will be seating. Nowadays, most
mosques have where the female will have their ablution
separately and it will be far from where the male will have
theirs and they do not share the same toilet. In fact, the
women do not see the Imam during prayer but only here his
voice because of the way mosque are built. Even when we
have societal gathering like funerals, weddings in Islam, it is
expected of us as Muslims to seat separately and segmented.

Message In A Bottle Returned To Woman 20 YearS After She Threw It Into The Sea

Zoe was a 10- year-old schoolgirl when she threw her letter into the water while on a ferry travelling to Belgium When schoolgirl Zoe Lemon threw a bottle with a message inside into the sea she soon forgot about it.
But 23 years later she has been stunned to receive a reply –
after the bottle was discovered more than 350 miles away in
the Netherlands.
Zoe, who has since married and lives in Salford, tossed the
letter into the sea as she left Hull on a ferry for a family
holiday to Germany when she was just 10.
The mum – whose surname is now Averianov – was
flabbergasted when her parents called for Christmas and
said they had post from Europe.
It turned out to be a reply to her letter from Piet and
Jacqueline Lateur from near Rotterdam.
Piet was walking his dog in the Oosterschelde dykes, near
where he and his wife Jacqueline live in Serooskerke, when
he found the bottle with Zoe's letter inside.
Zoe, 33, who works in a jewellery shop and lives in
Pendleton, said: "It's been a bit crazy really.
"My parents came to visit on Christmas day and they had
this letter from Europe addressed to my maiden name,
Lemon.
"The first thing I saw was my handwriting as a child and
my little letter saying who I was and about my pets and my
hobbies. It made me a bit emotional."
Since receiving the letter, Zoe has been in contact with Piet
via email and asked to see photographs of where the bottle
was found.
He told her: "I am keeping your little letter on my piano. I
know you are no longer a little girl but you asked me to
write you so I have."

North Korean Dictator, Kim Jong-Un Sentenced His Uncle To Be Eaten Alive By 120 Wild Dogs (Photo)

North Korean dictator, Kim Jong-Un who sentenced his uncle,
Jang Song-Thaek, 67, to death, didn't let him die by hanging
or firing squad, instead sentenced him to be eaten alive by a
pack of 120 wild dogs in a savage punishment for treachery.

His uncle along with five close aides, were stripped naked and
thrown into a cage of hounds which had been starved for three
days. The pack of animals spent more than an hour mauling
the group in a punishment called 'quan jue' or execution by
dogs, a report in Chinese newspaper, Wen Wei Po said.

Reports also say the entire process was supervised by the
supreme leader in North Korea, along with 300 senior
officials - a clear warning against anyone challenging Kim's
leadership.

2015: Obasanjo To Stay In PDP And Give President Jonathan "A Good Fighting"

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo plans to field a sitting governor from one of the Northern states against President Goodluck Jonathan at the next Peoples Democratic Party's presidential primaries.

Sources privy to the ex-President revealed that Mr. Obasanjo intends to stay in the PDP and give President Jonathan a "good fight" for the PDP ticket at the party's next convention. For the 2015 race, he might present either Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, or his Katsina State counterpart Ibrahim Shema.

Previously, Mr. Obasanjo had urged Mr. Lamido not to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) along with the G-5 governors.

It was learnt that Mr. Shema is a second choice after Mr. Lamido, who was foreign affairs minister during Obasanjo's presidency. Now, the presidency has become interested in Governor Lamido and directed Economic and Financial Crimes Commission's (EFCC) operatives to investigate him and his sons over alleged N10billion fraud. Governor Shema came to the limelight when he was made PDP vice-chairman for the North-West during Obasanjo's tenure.

Allegedly, Mr. Obasanjo favours Governor Lamido against President Jonathan as he has a large following among the poor in the North, known as the Talakawas, from his days in NEPU (Northern Elements Progressive Union), which was led by the late Aminu Kano. Mr. Lamido is also seen as widely accepted by his colleagues who are angry with the Alhaji Bamanga Tukur leadership of the PDP.

Obasanjo and APC's union "would never work"

Obasanjo has reportedly made up his mind to stop President Jonathan's second term bid by sponsoring a candidate to compete with him for the PDP ticket for the 2015 presidential poll.

"In the letter written by Baba [Obasanjo] to President Jonathan, a lot of things that could salvage the party from the present cul de sac were stated," a source said. "But Jonathan has no time for that; instead, he insists he has not told anyone of his interest for the second term. We will soon know who is right or wrong; but let me tell you that we are shopping for a candidate who would run against Jonathan for the PDP ticket. If he won, fine, and if he lost fine as well; after all, some people ran against Baba in 1998 and 2003 primaries.

"If he wins, we will support him, but if he loses, we expect him to support our candidate. That is politics. This is because, come what may, PDP will retain the presidency in 2015."

When reminded of the APC leadership's visit to Obasanjo, the source explained why Obasanjo would never work for the opposition. According to him, the former president would rather prefer Jonathan's presidency to APC's.

"We will not support APC candidate at all; that will amount to anti-party activities and remember that Obasanjo had accused the president of doing his stuff for political survival.

"Another reason Obasanjo will not work with the APC is because the PDP gave him the ticket to rule the country for eight years. Nothing will make him work against the party. Then look at the APC: the party means Tinubu and Tinubu means APC. Here was a man whose stock-in-trade was to abuse Obasanjo, calling him all sorts of unprintable names for his political agenda; and now he wants us to support him. He should forget it," the source explained.

Oduah Case!!! Jonathan Must Take Action – Reps Insist

Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, the Chairperson of the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation, has called on the Executive arm of government to fulfil its obligation to implement the recommendations presented to it in its investigation of the N255 million BMW scandal that rocked the Aviation Ministry in the fourth quarter of the year 2013.

Hon. Onyejeocha declared this in her home town Isiochi, Abia State, during a visit to her constituency.

The Committee's Chairperson said that the Reps had completed their job by investigating the scandal and forwarding their recommendations to the Executive arm.

However, she noted that the lawmakers were not empowered to go beyond that.

According to Hon. Onyejeocha, the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria should be respected and applied.

"All of us worked to protect the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, so whether you are an executive person or you are a parliamentarian or in the judiciary, the Constitution is the primary thing you need to protect.

"Why can't we say the truth, we need to say the truth no matter who is involved. For me the primary responsibility of any legislator in Nigeria is to God after here what do you tell your creator and so once you have that at the back of your mind you do your work," she added.

On what happens to the report submitted and the recommendations made by the House as it concerns the N255 million bullet proof cars, she said that the committee has done the work assigned to it and the House work stops there.

"Our work ended with the submission at the floor of the House and that the House had made its own recommendations. It is not our business what happens after we have finished our own work. It is left for the executive to do their own and off course what the constitution empowers us to do is to investigate the supposed corruption, it is not our duty to implement there is no way any lawmaker would implement," she said.

It would be recalled that the Reps have recommended the review of Stella Oduah's appointment for contravening the Appropriation Act. They also recommended a refund by Coscharis on the customs waiver utilised by it.

Facebook Sued For Alleged Spying Of Users' Private Messages

(BBC) -Facebook is facing a class action lawsuit over allegations that it monitors users' private messages.

The lawsuit claims that when users share a link to another
website via a private message, Facebook scans it to profile the
sender's web activity.

It alleges that Facebook systematically intercepts messages to
mine user data and profits by sharing it with data aggregators,
advertisers and marketers.

Facebook said the allegations were "without merit".

"We will defend ourselves vigorously," the world's biggest
social networking site added.

The lawsuit is claiming the greater of either $100 (£61) a day
for each day of alleged violations or $10,000, for each user.
Facebook has positioned itself to acquire pieces of the users'
profiles that are likely unavailable to other data aggregators"

The lawsuit, filed earlier this week, cites independent research
that, it claims, found Facebook reviews the contents of its
users' private messages "for purposes unrelated to the
facilitation of message transmission".

"Representing to users that the content of Facebook messages
is "private" creates an especially profitable opportunity for
Facebook," it says.

It says this is "because users who believe they are communicating on a service free from surveillance are likely
to reveal facts about themselves that they would not reveal
had they known the content was being monitored.

"Thus, Facebook has positioned itself to acquire pieces of the
users' profiles that are likely unavailable to other data
aggregators."

However, others have come forward to defend Facebook.
Writing on his blog, security expert Graham Cluley said that
if the site was not examining links shared privately, Facebook
would be failing a "duty of care" to its users.

"If you didn't properly scan and check links there's a very
real risk that spam, scams, phishing attacks, and malicious
URLs designed to infect recipients' computers with malware
could run rife," he argued.

Facebook has come under attack over its privacy policies in
the past.

In September last year, it faced criticism over a proposed
change to its privacy policy which would have allowed ads to
be created using the names and profile pictures of Facebook
users.

The firm had claimed that its proposal merely clarified the
language of its privacy policy, rather than making any
material changes to it.

Facebook undertook to change the wording in the wake of a
legal action launched in 2011 which saw it pay $20m to
compensate users who claimed it had used their data without
explicit permission.

‘God Is The Secret Of My Marriage’ - Olu Jacobs

Nollywood legend and Actor Olu Jacobs is married to Beautifull actress Joke Silva and in a recent interview revealed their secret for a great long lasting marriage.

"It is God. There are other forces outside that you need to take cognisance of. When you do, you have to make sure that they don't take control over your life. You are now thinking for two.

No decision you take should be for yourself alone. It is for two and it must remain for two. You have to always remember that. If my wife goes out and she finds out that she would not be able to make it back at the time she initially thought she would, she picks up the phone and calls me to tell me.

Fine! You are thinking for two, she knows where I am, I know where she is. We still do this till tomorrow. Communicating like that helps a lot.

Once we are talking, you have an idea of where I am and I have an idea of where you are. I am not saying that it should be calls every minute. Sometimes, just being together in a room [and] not necessarily saying anything is also important," the thespian revealed.

Out of the numerous reflective statements Nigerian celebrities have been posting on social networks, Beverly Osu's 'words on the marble' kind of stands out.

While reflecting on the past year, the Big Brother finalist described herself as a 'young lady ahead of time'.

'This past year I've gotten the platform to use emerging media to entertain, inform and inspire the people of Africa. My vision still holds true today. I am a young lady ahead of time. Thanks to everyone who has touched my incredible life', Beverly wrote on her Instagram page.

The 21-year-old received quite a lot of negative reactions from fans and others who watched and felt her performance at the 2013 Big Brother Africa – The Chase reality TV show was shameful.

Bev also had a word for them: 'To my Haters: thanks for making my life in 2013 something to reflect on… (Silence is golden but a duct tape is silver)… You guys have been my entertainment', she wrote, insinuating she'd shut them up herself.

Forbes Names Biggest Nigerian Billionaires of 2013 With Dangote On the Top

The combined net worth of four Nigerian billionaires, Aliko Dangote, Mrs. Folorunsho Alakija, Abdulsamad Rabiu and Mike Adenuga, grew by N2.024 trillion ($12.65 billion) in 2013, according to data released by Forbes yesterday.

The amount is about half of the N4.99 trillion budget put forward by the Federal Government and approved by the National Assembly in the 2013 fiscal year.

Forbes, in a report entitled The Biggest African Billionaire Gainers in 2013, listed Dangote, Africa's richest man, as the biggest gainer in terms of increase in net worth.

He gained $10.1 billion (N1.62 trillion) in 2013, to end the year with a net worth of $22.9 billion (N3.66 trillion), up from $12.8 billion as at the end of December 2012.

Nigeria's richest woman

Nigeria's richest woman, Folorunsho Alakija, owner of Famfa Oil Limited, was named the fourth biggest gainer in 2013, as her wealth increased by $1.9 billion (N304 billion) to end the year with a net worth of $2.5 billion (N400 billion).

Abdulsamad Rabiu, Chairman, BUA Group, was named the ninth biggest African gainer in 2013 by Forbes, with a $550 million (N88 billion) increase in wealth to end the year with a total net worth of $1.2 billion (N192 billion).

Nigeria's second richest man and Chairman of Globacom, Mr. Mike Adenuga, was named the 15th biggest gainer, with a gain of $100 million (N16 billion) to end the year with a net worth of $4.7 billion (N752 billion).

According to Forbes, the biggest catalyst for the increase in Dangote's net worth was his Dangote Cement shares, which has experienced a 74 per cent run-up over the last 12 months.

Forbes further noted that the increase in Folorunsho Alakija's net worth is as a result of new information made available to it on the true value of her company's interest in Agbami, information that had been verified by analysts in the industry.

Rabiu

On Abdulsamad Rabiu, Forbes said: "Rabiu joins the ranks of Africa's richest and the world's billionaires for the first time based on success at his BUA Group, whose biggest businesses are sugar refining and cement.

"BUA Group annual revenues are estimated at $2 billion. The group also does business in real estate, steel, port concessions, manufacturing, oil gas and shipping.

"Rabiu, the son of a businessman, set up his own business in 1988, importing rice, sugar and edible oils as well as iron and steel rods."

Adenuga

Commenting on Adenuga, the Forbes report said: "He built his fortune in oil production and telecom.

"His mobile telecom outfit, Globacom, has over 25 million subscribers in Nigeria and the Republic of Benin.

"He also owns Conoil Producing, a large indigenous oil exploration company.

"Adenuga studied in the United States and went into business for himself in Nigeria, starting by running his mother's sawmill business, distributing lace and Coca-Cola.

"He hit the big time when the military regime of former President Ibrahim Babangida awarded him construction contracts and his first oil prospecting license with which he became the first Nigerian to strike oil in commercial quantities."

See 4 Health Problems Linked to Depression

Even if you're already dealing with depression, keep an eye on these related health issues that are linked to the condition. Some are exacerbated by depression. Others are the result of long-term depression. In some cases, it's not clear whether depression causes the health concern or vice versa, but being aware of these associations can help you escape their effects.

1. Chronic Pain
The link between chronic pain and depression is unclear,
and there is some controversy about which comes first.
What has been proven is that chronic pain can exacerbate
depression and severe depression can make you more
susceptible to pain.

Researchers have found a link between higher levels of
cytokines, molecules that facilitate intercellular
communication, and depression. Cytokines can trigger an
inflammatory response and, therefore, pain. While
additional research is needed to clarify the relationship
between pain, inflammation and depression, exercise, talk
therapy and medication can help.

2. Heart Disease
Depression is considered a risk factor for heart disease, an
increased risk of having a heart attack, and higher chances
of death after a serious cardiac event. Unfortunately, even
milder forms of depression have been associated with
ischemic heart disease, which is caused by diminished
blood supply to the heart muscle.

Scientists aren't sure exactly how this occurs, but one clue
may be found in the inflammation caused by depression,
which can lead to thickening and stiffening of arterial walls
—a precursor to heart disease. The good news is that early
diagnosis and treatment of depression, particularly in
women, can prevent these negative effects.

3. Dementia
In older people, the link between depression and dementia
is significant. A meta-analysis of this correlation, published
in 2013 in the British Journal of Psychology, supports this
link, with researchers noting that depressed people over age
50 are more likely to develop dementia, including
Alzheimer's disease.

How does this happen? The exact mechanism hasn't been
defined yet, but one hypothesis is that changes in blood
vessels that impact brain matter cause and further both
depression and dementia.

Depression is not a part of normal aging, and you can help
older friends and family members by keeping a watchful
eye for symptoms and asking medical caretakers to take
these signals seriously. It's never too late to seek help.

4. Sleeping Problems
Insomnia, like other chronic health problems, can increase
one's risk of depression because it affects your day-to-day
life, energy levels, and ability to focus or enjoy things.

Depression can also cause sleeping patterns to change,
causing you to sleep excessively or not very much at all—
both of which are actually bad for your health. These sleep
disruptions may be due to chemical changes in the brain
that come along with depression. In addition, the same
stress and anxiety that can heighten or even trigger
depression can make it difficult to drift off to sleep each
night.

Depending on whether you're sleeping too much—or not
enough—the solutions for getting more restful sleep will
vary. There are a variety of drug-free techniques that can
help you improve your sleep, as well as medical
interventions that can help.

Depression is devious; it can make nearly any health
problem worse because it often saps your energy and
motivation to care for yourself. And many chronic illnesses
are accompanied by an increased risk of depression as
patients adapt to the potential limitations and lifestyle
changes a new diagnosis requires.

The faster you can get treatment for depression, the better.
Too many people suffer needlessly without ever getting
proper diagnosis or treatment. If you're listless, having
trouble sleeping, feeling helpless or hopeless, or simply not
up to pursuing your usual interests, ask a physician for
help.

Must Read: Open Letter To Skales

Dear Skales Let me start by wishing you a happy and
prosperous new year… Mr Raoul, I would like to admit to the
FACT that you are a very talented and Hardworking artist like
it's not really easy switching between singing and Rapping at
the same time (should be the main reason BankyW signed you
some years ago).

There are some things I've noticed about your music Career
since you Started with EME, some years ago when you
released your first pre-EME

Single (Heading for a Grammy) I just knew that you were
headed to the TOP cause I felt the Heat (HIT) from the song.
At that time People started looking forward to you like you
are the next thing to storm the Nigerian music scene.

BankyW. Signed You and Wiz up, I can remember Him
bringing the two of you up on stage at a show announcing the
you both as His Retirement plan, but Let me be sincere since then it has been all about Wiz.

I am not sure maybe it's the Destiny/Star Factor OR the
exposure wizkid got when He was still upcoming recording
with the likes of OJB, soundsultan e.t.c then that made him a
STRONGER FORCE than you in the music scene.

I understand that you were still in school which is much
needed (thank God you graduated successfully last year)
maybe that was what held your music career back a little
bit..When you released your First single (Mukulu)
with EME I was like Ok so this guy can sing too an album
from him would not be bad.

You also gained little Popularity and so on. 2013 was not too
bad for your career, your impact was really good on the EME
compilation album (this is me forgetting the fame and musical influence wizkid and BankyW got on the album).

Your verses on Baddest Boy, Sunmomi, Get down tonight
and so on was on point. You released two singles in 2013
Take Care Of me and Denge Pose (of which denge pose was
really slept on) which were AMAZING, the first time I heard Take care of me was on BEAT FM and I was like is this Skales? I mean An average Nigerian artist/musician can't write a song like that. Now To the main matter, Mister Skales I would like you to Pull a wizkid on Your LABEL BOSSES.

2014 Is YOUR TAKEOVER YEAR, Release an album in the
first quarter of this year (don't care if Wiz's second album is
not yet out) Go for it in the first quarter of this Year or you
lose your CHANCE of taking over/Blowing full time. At least
the singles Wizkid released last year are enough (No hating to
wiz).. I am tired of seeing tweets about you not blowing yet.

Before I stop, Mr. Skales Please change Your stylist (if you
have one) and your mode of dressing, you can At
least Contact Ice-Prince for His Stylist.

THANK YOU…YOU ARE A STAR, SHINE
BRIGHT!!!!

A Must Read For Guys: Signs That A Lady Is Not Interested In You

1. CONSTANTLY ASKING FOR FAVORS: You know, this
is not even about girls but trust nobody who constantly ask
you for favors, they are only taking advantage. In the case of
girls, if she constantly asks for your help especially when it
comes to finances and buying stuff for her, it's just clear that
she is in for the goodies, don't be fooled bro .. some even ask
for favors that Bill Gates daughter won't even ask her
father.

2. SHE NEVER RETURN YOUR CALLS: She barely return
your text messages and missed calls and when she does, it's
mostly the 'k', 'lol' 'yes' kind of replies after taking days to
respond. I need not tell you that she's not interested in you.

3. SHE ALWAYS COMES OUT WITH YOU WITH HER
GIRLS: This is a clear sign to alert you that this girl don't
want alone time, she's only there to please her friends or
make her friends enjoy a bit of the goodies you are offering.
Look elsewhere or grab one of her friends if you can. Some
girls might even bring male friends just to piss you off, while
you foot the bills.

4. SHE NEVER TAKES PICTURES WITH YOU: If you are
the guy always taking photos of the girl or if she prefer taking
photos of the food, drink, gift you bought for her instead, then
my bro, be prepared to move on. You don't matter like that.
Try go through her social media/phone if there's no photo of
you, think twice. Some people might say it doesn't matter but
trust me every girl that loves you will share beautiful
moments you share together or want to take pictures with you,
every minute you spend together. Don't ignore this, it's a
cemented fact.

5. SHE INTRODUCES YOU TO HER FRIENDS AS A
'FRIEND' : I was once asked why do guys hate when they are
introduced as a friend, and my answer was why not? Ladies
should know that this particular thing hurts more than being
shot, especially when you are so into her and in your head
she's the love of your life. That is clear that she's not in a
relationship with you, at least to her friends or whoever you
got introduced to.

6. SHE FLIRTS WITH YOUR FRIENDS OR FIND YOUR
FRIENDS WAY COOLER: The worst that could happen is
introducing your girl to your friends and she start to get flirty
with them. It could be for the fun of it but if she's usually
bored around you but come alive when she's with you and
your friends, try do your homework well or simply leave her
to one of your friends, not an easy decision though but it will
save you time to move on.

7. SHE NEVER COMMENTS ON HOW YOU LOOK :
Everybody like compliments but if even in your best, she
never say, "you look good" or "I like what you are wearing"
then the answer is simple, 'SHE DON'T CARE'. It's straight
like that. Don't sweat it.

8. ACTS FRIENDLY WHENEVER SHE IS NEED : She
usually calls you all the sweet names, 'boo boo', hun, bla bla
… only when she needs a favor. Do you still need to be told
bro?

9. SHE FINDS YOU BORING : This is how to tell if a girl
thinks you are boring, she don't laugh to your jokes, she's
constantly on her phone when you are with her, if you don't
break the silence, she don't make any effort to make a convo,
she don't even shout or singalong to her favorite song when
you play it in her presence, bro, you are trying too much, go
for someone who appreciate you, especially if you don't
think you are that boring.

Married Woman Got HIV While Trying To Get Pregnant

The pains some women go through in their quest to have a
baby due to family pressure is unimaginable. This woman's
case is one sad example.

Read what she told Punch's Toyosi Ogunseye below…
When did you get married?

We got married in 2004

Did you do HIV tests before you got married?

Yes, we did. It was a compulsory test before getting married.
We were both HIV negative.

When did you realise you had the virus?

It was in 2007. I got pregnant and was asked to do some
random tests. That was how I found out I was HIV positive.

Do you know how you contracted the virus?

Sometimes, it's difficult to tell because there are so many
ways through which one can get the virus but you can trace it
if you vividly remember the activities you engaged in for
some months and years.

Can you explain what you mean by activities one engages
in?

In my case, my husband married me a virg*n and like I told
you earlier, I was HIV negative and so was he when we got
married. Certain things happened to me that exposed me to
unhealthy practices and I believe strongly that that was how I
got HIV.

Unhealthy practices?

I could not conceive when I got married. My husband was not
worried because it was a young marriage, but his family
members were not happy with me. They said all sorts of nasty
things to me and tried to get my husband to send me out of
the house. It created tension in my home. I went to different
churches and herbalists within and outside Lagos. In the
herbalist's home, I was given incisions with a razor blade. I
received the incisions on two different occasions. Then in
2007, my mother-in-law arranged a new wife for my husband
behind my back.

Did he tell you about the new wife?

No. In fact, I didn't know until much later. It was one of my
friends in the village that told me what my mother-in-law had
been up to. My husband just told me that he was going to our
village to see his mum. I did not suspect anything. It was on
that trip they introduced the new wife to him. He rejected the
wife and came back to Lagos but he did not tell me anything.

One day, one of my friends called me and asked me if I knew
what my husband came to the village for. She narrated the
scheme to me and I confronted my husband. He said he didn't
tell me because it would hurt me. He reasoned that since he
didn't take the wife, I would be happy not knowing what
transpired in the village.

It was that same year my in-laws wanted to get another wife
for my husband that I got pregnant. That is why I counsel
women that patience is everything. I got pregnant when God
was ready to give me a child. It wasn't the herbalist or white
garment churches that made it possible. They gave me some
very horrible concoctions to drink in those churches after
praying on them. They took me to rivers to have my bath.

When I saw that all those things were not working, I stopped.

Several months after, I just discovered I was pregnant. In
fact, I remember vividly that at the herbalist's place, I didn't
give them the blade that was used for the incisions. That was
the least thing on my mind, I just wanted a baby.

How many people did you see at the herbalist each time
you went?

Quite a few, mostly women and it was the quest for children
that took them there. They also got incisions.

Was it with the same blade?

I'm not sure about that because we went in at separate times
How did your husband receive the news of your status?

Towards the end of 2007, I got pregnant. He felt very bad
when he heard about my status. He was downcast. I thought it
was the end of our marriage. I thought it was the end of
everything I struggled to keep. He shocked me when he said
he was not going to leave me and it wasn't the end of the
world but that he needed to do the test too. He did it and he
was negative. I gave birth to our child and she's negative.

Do you experience any sort of stigmatisation?

No, my status is known to only my husband and I, and he has
never used it to taunt me in any way. That is how I know that
he truly loves me. Of course, it took him some time to get
over it, it was very gradual but he took it calmly. We were
both very sad. We went for counselling together. I told him
that it was my desperation to have a child that forced me to
seek alternative measures. He didn't know I went to all those
places. He's very understanding and I sometimes wonder if
he's for real.

What steps do you take to ensure he remains negative?

We have two children now and they are both negative. He
uses a cond•m and whenever we are trying to procreate, we
are both placed on drugs to ensure that he doesn't contract it.
I have spoken to a few women who share similar experiences
with you. What advice would you give to women, especially
the married ones that are yet to have children?I wish our
society would just leave couples alone and stop interfering
with whether they have children or not. That is the problem,
everyone feels they should have a say in one's marriage. The
first step is that couples should not allow family members or
friends tell them what is best for them. Also women should be
patient. Just look at me, if I had been patient, all these would
not have happened to me. Couples should know that God's
time is the best.

I also want to say that HIV does not kill. What kills is
depression and laziness. Some people will say because they
are HIV positive, they will stop working and start being
dependent on others. Being dependent on other people will
affect one's psyche, lead to depression and eventually death.

In addition I will advise people, spread the news, but don't
spread the virus.

Tunde Akinsanmi StylePlus Reveals Why He Left StlyPlus Band

It's no longer news that Tunde of StylPlus, has gone solo and
is now on his own. What's indeed news, is that nobody knows
why he left.

He came out in this recent interview to clear the air.
Read below what he had to say about the fall out.

"I have tried to answer this question in so many diplomatic
ways without divulging unnecessary details but the answer
has brought out more questions like "why didn't I work on
my solo project and still remain in the group like its being
done on the international scene with the likes of Boyz2Men,the Commodores, Destiny's Child and many more
international group acts?

Questions flying from all directions have informed me to
come out straight to tell it as it is because I need to carry the
fans along
.
In 2012. I tried taking my clothing company (nativeBoy)
ambitions a notch higher by launching it out in Asia and
doing a song titled "in your eyes"to support it. It apparently
didn't go down well with the members of my group.Being in
a group involves a whole lot more dynamics than meets the
eye due to differences in personalities, goals and expectations.
These differences get more pronounced over time and like old
wine become more distinct in taste.Boy bands were not
designed to last forever for boys become men and being a
man brings with it more responsibilities and an unction for a
definite direction.

I am pursuing my definite direction.I wish the others well in
their pursuit"

See Pastor who tried to walk on water drowns to death.... Stories we hear, sighs!

An evangelist who tried replicating Jesus' miracle of walking
on water has reportedly drowned off the western coast of
Africa.
Pastor Franck Kabele, 35, told his congregation he could
repeat the biblical miracle, and he attempted it from a beach
in Gabon's capital of Libreville
He told churchgoers he'd had a revelation that if he had
enough faith, he could walk on water like Jesus,' an
eyewitness told the Glasgow Daily Record.
'He took his congregation to the beach saying he would walk
across the Komo estuary, which takes 20 minutes by boat.
So on the d-day they all gathered to watch the miracle...
He walked into the water, which soon passed over his head
and he never came back.'
Had poor Mr. Kabele known his Bible better, he would not
have attempted his "miracle" feat; had he possessed a
moderate amount of common sense, he quickly would have
discovered he could not "walk on water," before the sea
finally took him.

Nigeria assumes membership of UN Security Council

United Nations – Nigeria on Thursday formally assumed the
membership of the UN Security Council for a two-year term
(2014-2015), making it the fifth time the nation had been
elected into the council.
The nation's term for the non-permanent seat of the council
began on Jan. 1, but due to the New Year holiday, the council
could not sit.
Nigeria was on Oct. 16, 2012 elected into the world body with
186 votes out of 193.
UN Council has five permanent members comprising China,
France, Russian Federation, the United Kingdom and the U.S.
as well as 10 other non-permanent members which are elected
for two years by the 193 members of the UN General
Assembly.
Earlier, following the admission of Nigeria into the council,
Prof. Joy Ogwu, Nigeria's Permanent Representative to the
UN, had assured that Nigeria would promote preventive
diplomacy for peace as a fulcrum of its agenda.
The permanent representative also noted that Nigeria was
driven by a deep seated aspiration to deal with issues of
peace, security and development not only in Africa but the
rest of the world.
"So to this effect, we will work assiduously with all members
of the security council to represent all other member states
and to fulfil the renewed mandate that we have received
today,'' Ogwu said.
The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prof. Viola Onwuliri,
had assured the international community that Nigeria would
continue to work in the area of preventive diplomacy.
Onwuliri also said that Nigeria would focus on mediation and
prevention of conflict situations in Africa.
"We need to have a strong voice to help the UN to deal with
issues in Africa. African issues are the majority of issues
facing the UN Security Council today,'' she said.
Prince Zeid Ra'ad Al-Hussein, Permanent Representative of
Jordan to the UN, is the President of the Security Council for
the month of January.

Access Bank, Mariah Carey under fire for lavish $2m concerts

Mariah Carey has come under fire after she was
allegedly paid $1 million to perform for Angolan
President Josè Eduardo Dos Santos a day after she
performed at a Lagos gig for a Nigerian bank which
recently laid off 200 workers.
The 'All I Want for Christmas is You' singer gave a
two-hour concert for authoritarian Angolan
President Josè Eduardo Dos Santos on Sunday
December 15, 2013, in return for the huge amount,
angering human rights groups. She had earlier
performed in Lagos, Nigeria, for Access Bank
which also allegedly coughed out $1m for her
appearance. Her Lagos visit sparked criticisms
because the bank had only recently disengaged 200
workers.
Human Rights Foundation president Thor
Halvorssen said: 'It is the sad spectacle of an
international artist purchased by a ruthless police
state to entertain and whitewash the father-daughter
kleptocracy that has amassed billions in ill-gotten
wealth while the majority of Angola lives on less
than $2 a day.'
Mariah's Angola show was sponsored by Unitel, a
mobile-phone company owned by Dos Santos's
daughter, who is also head of the Angolan Red
Cross, which reportedly received $65,000 in benefit
funds from the concert.
Thor added: 'Mariah Carey can't seem to get
enough dictator cash. Just five years ago she
performed for the family of Libyan dictator
Muammar al-Gaddafi. Now, she goes from private
performances to public displays of support and
credibility for one of Africa's chief human rights
violators and most corrupt tyrants.'
Mariah, 43, posed for a picture with Dos Santos and
his family, and according to the Human Rights
Foundation, said: 'I am happy to be here in this
room and I am honoured to share this show with the
President of Angola.'
Critics of Dos Santos claim he has murdered many
politicians, journalists and other people who have
defied his orders, as well as monopolising and
exploiting oil and diamond resources and seizing
control of almost all aspects of government power.
The Africa concerts come five years after Mariah
apologised after performing for notorious dictator
Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi, who was toppled
and killed during the Arab Spring uprising in 2011.
Carey's Lagos appearance was at the 'Access Bank
End of the Year Bash', on Saturday, December 14,
2013 at the prestigious and luxurious
Intercontinental Hotel, Victoria Island. The night
was also dedicated the bank's outgoing Managing
Director Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede.
Access Bank's outgoing Managing Director –
Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede. Access Bank.
Sources say Aig-Imoukhuede, a big fan of Mariah
Carey was the one who wanted the US star to
perform at the gig at all cost. Carey was paid and
flown into the country along with her live band. A
day after her trip to the country, she was accused by
a US website of 'performing for money men in
Nigeria'.
Her visit and performance here upset more than a
few, especially after it emerged the bank which has
disengaged thousands of workers since 2012, had
paid her generously. Since February 2013, Access
Bank has been in court with about 1,500 former
employees of the bank who instituted a case against
the bank which they claim 'illegally withheld,
manipulated and mismanaged' their gratuities and
severance packages.
The party was described by those who attended as
very extravagant and lavish as food and almost
every kind of drinks were in abundance.
