FIVE Steps to ‘Slow s*x’

It may be the secret to experiencing phenomenal s*x… and
the key to having an even better emotional connection with
your partner. "Slow s*x," an offshoot of the slow food
movement, seems to go against the grain of our cultural
bias. We tend to place a premium on doing everything
faster. Yet going "slow" can be very satisfying– especially
for women.

Women take an
average of ten to twenty minutes to become aroused enough
to climax, depending on the method and the individual
woman, according to Dr. Debbie Herbenick, PhD.

Because we tend to view s*x as a performance based
activity, it creates a lot of pressure to "perform according to
the norm." This has two outcomes: it makes men worry that
they'll finish too soon, and it makes women insecure about
taking too long. I believe there's a different approach to s*x
that not only takes the pressure off of everyone and
dramatically increases everybody's pleasure, but actually
has the potential to change the way we live our lives
outside the bedroom as well.

I suggest an approach to s*x that makes a deeper intimate
connection, rather than climax, the main point of a s*xual
encounter. This approach is rooted in Tantric philosophy,
where the focus is on finding the Divine in everything,
including s*x. At the very least, using these tips will give
you a chance to get better acquainted with how your body
responds to sensual stimuli and will increase your
emotional connection with your partner.

1. Start by putting aside 10 minutes to gaze into each
other's eyes. This isn't a staring contest; the goal is to bring
you closer. Sit comfortably facing each other and gaze into
your partner's non-dominant eye. Most of us are right
handed, so you'd gaze into his left eye. It's ok to blink, and
you can even try a smile. Don't be surprised if this is a little
challenging at first; we're not used to gazing deeply into
another's eyes.

2. Breathe together. As you get more comfortable gazing
into each other's eyes, add your breath. Just let your own
breath come naturally, in and out through your nose if you
can. Your partner will adjust his breath to match yours.
You can place your hand on his heart, and he can have his
hand on your heart, if you're having trouble synchronizing
your breath.

3. Have some cuddle time. Dedicate at least thirty minutes
to snuggling and cuddling with your clothes on. You can
kiss, but don't go past "second base." Don't be discouraged
if you don't make it the full thirty minutes! If your partner
gets impatient, lighten things up with humor.

4. Next, bring out the massage oil and take turns giving
each other a back rub. Use long, slow strokes with
moderate pressure and don't go below the waist. After at
least five minutes, you can rub your chest along his back.

5. Learn How to OM: Last, but not least, consider learning
how to "OM." Author Nicole Daedone teaches the practice
of OM, or orgasmic meditation. In Daedone's new book,
Slow s*x: The Art and Craft of the Female climax she
explains the practice– which combines the tradition of
extended climax with Zen Buddhism, mystical Judaism and
semantics.

According to Daedone, "OM is a practice of being fully
present in the moment. Its a practice that strips away the
thoughts of what should be, and engages you in what
actually is. By putting your full attention on the point of
contact between the two of you, everything else drops away
except the sensation in the connection.

Truth is the greatest turn on; the truth of sensation and
desire. There is no room here for judgements or
resentments, there is just the two of you remembering you
are intimately connected."

Each of these tips can stand alone. You may breathe
together, then skip the cuddle time. Or you may decide to
stop after cuddling. You might decide to incorporate
breathing together into your daily routine. Remember, the
idea is to increase intimacy, and intimacy has two sides:
er*tic and emotional.

Both are important to long term happiness in a relationship.

Just remember to take it slow.

10 Daily Skin Care Essentials

Skin is the largest organ in the human body, yet it's often
woefully taken for granted. People pamper their hearts and
agonize over their waistlines, but their skin can get totally
overlooked. Sure, they might spread a little lotion on dry
elbows from time to time, or dab a bit of sunscreen on
untanned noses before hitting the beach, but that's often the
extent of many skin-care regimes beyond a few daily scrubs
with the washcloth.

That is not, however, what dermatologists recommend. Skin
needs a little TLC to stay healthy, just like every other organ
you have, and that means making some time for it on a daily
basis. Some of this stuff is just sound advice that benefits
other parts of the body as well, but lots of it is quite specific
to skin. So in no particular order, here are 10 daily must-
haves if you want to sport younger, healthier looking skin.

10: Cleansers
We'll kick it off with the basics: Cleansers are your friends.
This probably doesn't come as a big shock to anyone, but one
of the simplest strategies for making sure your skin has a
healthy glow is to wash it. Different skin types need different
cleansers, so as with many skin-care products, look for one
tailored to your specific needs.

Facing shelf after shelf of cleansers at the grocery store can be
daunting, but here are a few quick tips. Fragrances and dyes
can irritate some people's skin, so you may want to avoid
those if you aren't sure yours can handle it. Mild and gentle is
also a good route to go — it may feel satisfying to put your
face through a super-scrub session, but an ordeal like that
usually harms more than it helps. Skin doesn't need to feel
tight and dry to be considered clean. In fact, that usually
means you've stri*ped away important layers of natural oils
or left some soapy residue behind. So cut your skin some
slack and it'll thank you for it later.

9: Chill Time
Nope, we're not recommending you spend time hanging
around walk-in freezers, but we are recommending people
take a little "me time" and relax. Stress can wreak havoc on
even the best skin, and it causes lots of other unpleasant
effects on the body, too.

If skin is under undue duress (even if bad skin is what's
stressing you out in the first place) it can eventually become
thin and less able to regenerate itself. And if you thought the
acne was bad, just wait until the itching, redness and eczema
set in.

So try to calm down — that zit doesn't look as awful as you
think, and if you don't get everything done on your to-do list
for the day, chances are excellent the world won't come
screeching to a halt. With any luck, your skin will start to
mellow out, too.

8: Exercise
You might be tired of hearing how important exercise is for
good health, but how about just once more? Exercise is
important for good health — including skin health. Plus, it's
really not that bad. Just try hitting the gym or taking a brisk
stroll around the block, and you might find yourself enjoying
the feeling of a solid workout.

Regular exercise not only helps flush out pores and fight acne,
it can also aid skin by promoting toxin removal and
decreasing signs of aging by boosting collagen production and
diminishing wrinkles.

The acne bit tends to work like this, although like the rest of
these benefits, results may vary. Stress amps up the
production of certain hormones — many of which have been
linked to acne flare-ups — and exercise is believed to help
decrease stress levels. Ergo, less acne. A good workout also
sends more oxygen and nutrients pumping through your
bloodstream.
7: Nutritious Diet

Not all products that are skin-care musts are found in
bathroom drawers; some pop up in the kitchen. Although
more extensive research needs to be done on the subject,
many foods are strongly suspected of helping skin stay young
and healthy looking.

It's a good idea to eat foods that are fresh and not overly
processed — try shopping around the edges of the grocery
store and avoiding the aisles — that's where the less healthy
food typically lurks. A balanced mix of nutrients, vitamins,
minerals and antioxidants should keep your skin vibrant.

Biotin, a type of vitamin B, helps replenish skin, along with
your hair and nails. Vitamin A is big when it comes to
repairing damaged tissue and maintaining healthy skin.

Vitamins C and E are examples of antioxidant powerhouses
that box out free radicals and work to protect skin from the
sun's fierce rays.

These sorts of good guys can be found in loads of fruits and
veggies, as well as many other foods. The right kinds of
protein are also important — they help cells fix themselves
when damaged. One study suggests that people who eat things
like legumes, vegetables and olive oil, coupled with less
sugary foods and dairy products, had less wrinkly skin in old
age [source: Purba]. So find a good diet that makes your skin
happy and stick to it.

6: Sleep
Don't feel guilty the next time you swat the snooze button and
roll over in bed. Getting a good night's rest is a daily ritual
that your skin will punish you for skimping on. That's
because sleep is your skin's time to rejuvenate and relax.
Whether you love to smile or wear a constant frown, that's a
lot of action for your skin to handle. Throw in the occasional
cut, scratch, scrape and bruise, and skin is about ready to call
it quits.

Skin gets busy replenishing itself during a sound sleep. It's
also great because, at least for a portion of the day, skin gets
to avoid all the dirt, pollution and any other nastiness floating
around in the air.

4: Sunscreen
It may sound a little extreme, but experts often recommend a
surplus of sunscreen, even at times and in places many might
not consider normally. It's one thing to slap some on before
you head down to the pool, for example, but what about for
the ride to work or on a quick run to the grocery store? Yup,
then, too.

These extreme anti-UV tactics might not be up everyone's
alley, but it's a good idea to consider sunscreen as part of
your daily regimen. That way, anytime you might be exposed
to the sun, you'll be prepared for the onslaught of skin-
ravaging rays.

Also, keep in mind that despite laudable labels and proud
product claims, many sunscreens can't keep you safe all day
long. They usually need to be reapplied about every two hours
to maintain maximum efficiency. And for sunbathers who
want a tan but manage to put on a concessionary coat of
sunscreen — that SPF 2 or SPF 4 isn't doing a heck of a lot
of good. It usually takes at least an SPF 15 to keep skin
healthy.

3: Bad Habits (A Lack of Them, Actually)
You've started wearing sunscreen and eating better. You go
for a jog every morning now that you're going to bed on time
and getting a good night's rest. But darned if there isn't
usually a soda can or a coffee cup parked innocently on your
desk every day, and after work, you still enjoy the occasional
cigarette or frosty cold one now and then.

These little foibles might not seem like a big deal, but they're
often displayed plain as day on your face, which suffers from
activities like smoking and drinking caffeine and alcohol.
Smoking slows blood flow to the skin which robs it of oxygen
and nutrients, and can also lead to a more aged appearance —
puckered mouths inhaling smoke and squinted eyes keeping it
out can cause an abundance of extra wrinkles.

Drinking alcohol and caffeine can both dehydrate skin, so if
you absolutely can't kill your craving for a cup of joe or a
glass of wine, try to make up for it by drinking plenty of
water. Alcohol can also damage blood vessels over time,
causing spots of skin to turn permanently red.
But now that we've dealt with the "don'ts," let's head over to
the last couple of "do's."

2: Exfoliants
It can also be good to have an exfoliant on hand. Everyone's
surely heard those startling statistics about how dead skin
cells constantly pour off our bodies in vast numbers. Only
sometimes after they die, they stick around for a while and a
little encouragement is needed to send them on their way.

This is where exfoliants and facial scrubs come in. They
whisk away dead skin and polish up what remains, leaving it
shiny and fresh. Only keep in mind, you don't want an
exfoliator that's too rough or it can scrape your skin and leave
it damaged. Get something that's gentle and not overly
coarse, especially if you tend to break out a lot, because harsh
exfoliation can aggravate acne.

1: Moisturizers
We started out discussing how fundamental a cleanser is to
any top-notch daily skin-care routine, so to wrap up the list,
let's return to its all important sidekick: moisturizer. Even if
you're on the oilier end of the spectrum, you probably still
need a good moisturizer, although a lighter one is usually
best. One good trick is to look for one that says

"noncomedogenic" on the label. (Don't let that tricky-to-say
word worry you; according to the Mayo Clinic, it just means
the product isn't likely to clog your pores.) Creams and
ointments often work better than lotions for people with dry
skin.

It's best to slap on some moisturizer right after you bathe —
this locks in all the water your skin was able to soak up in the
shower. Just gently pat yourself dry and smooth on the
moisturizer. It'll have you looking healthier in no time, with
soft, hydrated skin.

ASUU Strike: How Members Are Mobilised Against Resuming Lectures

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at the weekend embarked on mass mobilisation of members not to comply with the ultimatum by the Federal Government to resume lectures by December 4, 2013.

The members of the union were also directed not to sign any register that may be opened by their Vice Chancellors.

ASUU leaders directed all branches chairmen to find means of mobilising their members not to fall for the threats of the Federal Government, describing the threat as "empty", pending the next National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Union, which will be held in Minna.

The Chairmen were also advised not to hold public congresses in order to avoid any face off with police and security forces the government deployed to all institutions for the implementation of the December 4 deadline of re-opening.

ASUU have started using the short message service (SMS) and other social media platforms to reach out and to mobilise members not to succumb to the Federal Government's threat.

The Nation published some of these SMS:

"Dear members, FG decision to threaten us with sack confirms our suspicion that FG may not be honest and can not be trusted. Don't sucumb (sic) to this empty threat. The strike continues. We shall triumph again. Please, DO NOT SIGN ANY REGISTER. ALUTA CONTINUA- CHAIRPERSON".

"Dear Congress member, I'm appealing we should stay calm and remain resolute. There is nothing wrong in asking govt to do what it says it will do immediately. ASUU is not making any new demands as the Minister is propagating Govt is only repeating a 'one act play' scripted by the IBB dictatorship in early 90s. It didn't work then, and, it won't work now ALL BRANCHES are intact. We cannot be intimidated!!! UNITED WE BARGAIN DIVIDED WE BEG!!! ALUTA CONTINUA".

A professor at the Federal University of Technology Minna, who spoke with the newsmen on conditions of anonymity, expressed shock over the ultimatum:

"One is shocked by the deadline. If they sack all of us, government will go to Kasua Gwari to pack lecturers or pick Professors on the streets. It is a pity, our leaders are reckless.

"We are not moved by the ultimatum. We are waiting to see how they (govt) intend to wriggle itself out of the self inflicted problem. Do they know how the system runs? The era of intimidation is gone," the university don stated.

At the same time, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and Enugu State University of Science and Technology are set for reopening.

Photo: Tyrese cries at scene of Paul Walker's death

Late Paul Walker's friend and Fast & Furious co-star Tyrese
visited the scene of the car crash today and was inconsolable.
The actor and singer, who has been friends with Paul for the
past thirteen years cried through out. He left a single yellow
rose at the scene of the crash before leaving.

Paul Walker, 40, was the passenger in his friend's Porsche GT
which spun out of control and hit a pole and tree, bursting into
flames and killing both men yesterday afternoon November
30th.

TMZ reported earlier today that the county coroner revealed
that the bodies of Paul and his friend Roger Rodas, 38, who
was also his financial adviser, were so badly burned that they
are currently unidentifiable.

The L.A. County Coroner has requested dental records for
both victims before they can identify the bodies. Autopsies on
both bodies have been delayed until later this week.

An estimated 3.5 million Nigerians are infected with HIV Nigeria’s fight against AIDS

With 3.5 million infected, Nigeria has blended foreign
funding with locally tailored strategies to fight HIV/AIDS.
In a small home tucked away on a side street in the city of
Kaduna in northern Nigeria, Aisha Yakubu watches her son
take out three bottles of prescribed medications from a dresser
in his bedroom. The eight-year-old boy ignores the kittens
meandering around his legs as he twists open the caps of each
of the white bottles.

Every day he takes anti-viral drugs: 200 miligrams of Aluvia,
150 miligrams of Truvada and half a tablet of Septrin. "I think
he contracted the HIV from his mother," Yakubu says.

About six years ago, she found the boy lying in a heap of
rubbish in an abandoned building. She picked him up, took
him home and has been raising him as her son ever since.
Together, they strive to overcome the challenges and stigmas
surrounding those infected with HIV.

"After seven [in the evening] you couldn't even say HIV then
because people were so afraid," she says. She explains that
the word to describe HIV or AIDS in the local Hausa
language, kanjamau, refers to a sickly, skeleton-like person
with scabby skin.

In 2005, after several months of losing weight and being
accused of possessing an evil spirit that was making her sick,
Yakubu said she became depressed and her relatives, some
Christians and others Muslims, did not offer her enough
support. "The Christians were saying I need deliverance and
the Muslims were saying I was a sinner," she said.
She finally visited a medical doctor who told her she was
HIV-positive. She said the news "completely threw her off
balance". She suspected her second, now former, husband had
given her the virus.

Anambra Governorship Election: Obiano declared winner

The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Chief Willie
Obiano, has been declared winner of the governorship election
in Anambra State.

The returning officer, Prof James Epoke said Obiano satisfied
all the requirements of the law "and is hereby declared
winner. "

The result showed APGA polled 180,178 votes, PDP polled
97,700 votes; APC got 95,963 votes,

while LP had 37495 votes.

Before yesterday's supplementary election conducted in 210
polling units in 16 local councils across the state where the
exercise was cancelled during the November 16 exercise,
Obiano was already coasting home to victory, having scored
the highest number of votes and securing 25 per cent in 18 of
the 21 local government areas of the state.

The 16 local government areas where INEC conducted
the supplementary election are Aguata, Awka North, Awka
South, Anambra East, Anambra West, Ayamelum, Anaocha,
Ekwusigo, Idemili North and Idemili South. Others are Ihiala,
Nnewi South, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Orumba North
and Oyi.

Though there was restriction of movement in the affected
areas, some people were still doing their normal businesses
and traffic was light on the roads in all the areas.

Soldiers were stationed along all the roads leading to Idemili
North local government area and Onitsha South local
government area, which had the highest number of polling
units of 160 and 17 respectively where the supplementary
election took place.

APC, LP agents take part

Though the All Progressive Congress, APC, the Labour Party,
LP, and the campaign organization of the Peoples Democratic
Party, PDP, candidate, Comrade Tony Nwoye, said they
would not participate in the exercise, their agents were seen in
many polling units. However, while APGA and PDP agents
wore tags, those who claimed to be APC agents did not wear
their tags. At Abatete in Idemili north, agents of the PDP and
LP were at the polling units.

Voters' apathy

In all the polling units where the supplementary polls took
place yesterday, there was very low turnout of voters and
heavy presence of security operatives.

In most polling units visited by Sunday Vanguard, electoral
officials and sensitive electoral materials arrived early. But,
despite the early arrival of these materials, the number of
eligible voters, who came out for the accreditation exercise,
was very low compared to the turn-out during the November
16 and 17 elections.

Early results

At Zik Avenue, Onitsha polling units 8, 9 and 10, APGA
scored 18 votes, APC – 8, while PDP polled 6. At polling unit
006, APC scored 9, APGA got 26, while PDP scored 2.
REC commends Anambra voters, says there's no boycott
Despite the low turn out, the INEC Resident Electoral
Commissioner in Rivers, Mr. Aniedi Ikoiwak, who supervised
the election in Onitsha South and Onitsha North council areas,
commended the people of Anambra for coming out to vote
yesterday's supplementary governorship election.
I
koiwak spoke at Okija Hall where voting took place in four
polling units.

APC out to cause mischief – PDP chairman

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party,
PDP, in Anambra State, Prince Ken Emeakayi, has accused
the APC of causing mischief and deceiving Nigerians.
Emeakayi spoke with journalists at Akpkogwe polling booth
Ogidi ward 1 where he had gone to observe the supplementary
election.

He said that despite APC's call on voters to boycott the
election, the party has agents in all the polling units.
INEC ignores Ubah's case

Meanwhile, the supplementary poll held, yesterday, in
apparent disregard of a case by the LP candidate in the
November 16 election, Dr Ifeanyi Ubah, seeking to stop it.
A letter by Ubah's lawyers, Olagoke Fakunle, SAN, and Co,
to INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, dated November 29,
2013, notified INEC about the case.

"You would have noticed that amongst the processes is a
Motion on Notice for interlocutory in juntion restraining you
from conducting any further election in Anambra State, with
regard to the office of the Governor of the State, until the
court has had an opportunity to review the legality of your
pre-election processes towards that election", the letter said.

"It was for the reason of the urgency and importance of this
action that the Federal High Court, on 28th November 2013,
made an order to abridge the time within which you and other
Defendants may file your responses to both the application for
injunction and the originating summons. The court also
granted accelerated hearing of the matter by adjourning the
hearing to 9th December, 2013.

"We therefore hereby demand that you postpone the proposed
supplementary election for the Governor of Anambra state to
avoid a situation whereby you would have foisted a fait
accompli on the court and the court in response will therefore
be constrained to void everything you have done including the
outcome of the proposed supplementary election, with
attendant waste of national resources.

"The appropriate thing for you to do at this stage, therefore, is
to enter appearance and file your responses to the processes
you have been served with and await the court's determination
of the illegality or otherwise of the pre-election process
leading to your decision to hold a supplementary election for
the Governor of Anambra State, before you continue with any
further plans for the conduct of any election of the Governor
of Anambra State."

2015: ‘Buhari’s candidate is the people’s candidate’

Kano – A former military Head of State, retired Maj.-Gen.
Muhammadu Buhari, has said that he has no anointed
candidate for any political position in the country.

Buhari, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC),
said this on Saturday in Kano at a sensitisation workshop,
organised by the Kano APC Forum for Peace and Equity.

The former head of state said that he had no candidate and
urged anybody who wanted to aspire to any post to feel free to
do so.

''Buhari has not anointed anybody as a candidate, so whoever
people want is his candidate.

''Whoever emerges for the party as the people's candidate at
the local, state or presidential level is Buhari's candidate. So
Buhari's candidate is the people's candidate,'' he said.

According to him, the APC as a party is not concerned about
Buhari as a person or anybody but about the future of Nigeria
and Nigerians.

He urged members of the parties which merged to close ranks
so as to ensure the success of the APC in future elections.
Buhari was represented by a former member of the House of
Representatives, Alhaji Faruk Aliyu.

Earlier, the former governor of Kano State, Malam Ibrahim
Shekarau, who was also represented, stressed the importance
of unity among the APC's members.

'' APC has a history of unity because it came into being
following the decision of three parties to merge.''

Also speaking, the chairman of the forum, Alhaji Umar El-
Yakub, urged the party's leaders to avoid politics of hate,
deceit and selfish interest in order to achieve its objectives.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that five of the
seven governors in the splinter group of the People's
Democratic Party formally announced their merger with the
APC on Tuesday.

Messing Around In Nollywood Is Not For Me – Belinda Effah

Although, she has had her challenging moments in the industry, Belinda Effah is one of the fast rising actresses in Nollywood whose name rings a bell in the industry.

She has achieved a lot in a very short while, winning laurels and writing her name in gold as far as the world of make-believe is concerned. In this interview, she tells Showtime Celebrity what it takes to be where she's today and why she cannot date anybody in the industry.

How has the journey been so far?

The journey so far has been wonderful. There was a time when Belinda Effah was a struggling actress, just hoping to feature in a movie. But today, the story has changed. Thanks to Royal Arts Academy owned by Emem Isong and her sister, Uduak Isong Oguamanam who featured me in their movies, "Udeme mmi" and "Kokomma." Featuring in these movies opened a lot of doors for me. I have won a lot of awards. I'm actually on my own, and I now reject scripts . I'm not saying that I'm there yet, I'm still hoping to get better. But things are actually different today.

Was it part of the challenges you faced before hitting the limelight?

Then I was not matured as an actress, physically , emotionally and mentally. That was my build up process, the producers then knew what they wanted. They didn't tell me I was a bad actress. They said, I had what it takes to be a good actor. But looking at me today, things are different. I have added some weights in the right places. I guess I fit into certain roles now than before. May be, they didn't see me fitting into a particular role . Like I said earlier, I wasn't just matured then.

How were you able to get the role that gave you the break?

That was after I featured in Emem Isong's "Udeme mmi." Her sister invited me to be part of the cast of her film, 'Kokomma" . I read the script and I liked it because it was a very touching story. To me, every script that comes my way, gives me an opportunity to do something differently.

How many movies have you done till date?

I have done a couple of movies. I don't keep count of the movies I have featured in. But I'm happy that I'm busy every other day. I'm one actress that like to take a break to refresh myself after I have done one or two movies, so that I can give my very best into a production. I'm always busy, I have won several awards and I'm hoping that the endorsement will start coming my way.

You seem to be eyeing endorsement by some multi-national companies?

Yes, that's the glory of every actress that you are doing great works and people want to associate with you.

When you are on set , what's the experience like?

I have different experiences especially when I'm working with different producers. Usually, I get fair treatment. As an actress, I have to bring my game to the table. The industry is such that we have new faces that are strong as well. To me, it is not about featuring in a movie that matters, rather it's about making an impression on the people. Belinda Effah was formerly described as a regional actress.

At what point did you come out of that circle?

As an up and coming actor, when you are offered a role to play in a movie, you don't really care what you are being offered. You just want to be on set. Some people will want to describe me as a regional actress. But back then it's not as if I haven't done a couple of English movies . After all, I started with English movies before I later featured in the two movies that brought me to the limelight. Maybe, it could be because the producers of these films distributed them far and wide causing people to get to notice me. But the producers of my early movies did not distribute the films well and that's why people tend to see me as a regional actor. So, it doesn't make me a regional actor. I'd feature in both English and indigenous movies. If I can speak the language, give me a script and I will interprete it to the best of my knowledge.

How did you feel when you were announced winner of the Best rising actress in Africa at this year's AMAA?

That I was nominated for the award was a win for me. I kept an open mindset that if I win the award it's an additional advantage to me. I was very tensed because I checked out the profiles of everybody that was nominated in that Best Promising Actress category. Prior to my nomination, I have won GIAMA Awards, and I have also gotten a lot of recognition awards. It was like 'let the trend keep flowing.' I was overwhelmed when I was announced the winner. I'm grateful to Royal Arts Academy because they didn't know me from anywhere. They saw something in me which they tried their best to harness it. Between last year and this year, you have been on top of your game.

What's the secret?

I came into Nollywood at the right time. I joined the industry between 2005 and 2006. Then I don't think the industry was ready for me. I was part of the Next Movie Star reality TV show and I was one of the last Housemates standing. I thought participating in that show would create a new opening for me. But it never did. For four years ,I couldn't lay my hand on anything tangible. At a point, I had to take up a paid job because I needed the money to fend for myself between 2006 and 2008. I came back in 2011 through the first series of "Tales of Eve." It gave me a huge platform because a lot of people got to watch the series. That was when the industry actually called me back. A lot of people identified with the series, and since then, I have done a couple of movies. The movie, Kokomma, got me nomination for the 2013 Africa Movie Academy Awards ( AMAA). After featuring in that movie, a lot of things started to fall in place because people started calling me for jobs. Like I said earlier, I joined Nollywood at the right time, and everything is working out fine for me.

What would you say prepared you for what you are doing today?

I have always wanted to act. I was part of a drama group in my church back then. When the opportunity presented itself, I took it with everything that I had. I could recall that I was still in school when I came on holiday in Lagos. A modelling agent saw me and wanted to use me to brand their product. Thereafter, I saw an advert on television where actors were invited to audition for the production, "Shallow Waters." I bought the form and went for the audition. Later, I was given a minor role. My passion for acting increased, and each time, I was on holiday, I would storm Lagos to pursue my passion. So, immediately I graduated from the university, I relocated to Lagos.

What did you study in the university?

I studied Biotechnology in the university. Initially, I wanted to study medicine, but when it was not forthcoming, I switched to Biotechnology . But at the back of my mind, it has always been the art. I have always wanted to be an actress right from when I was younger. Then, I always wanted to do something with the choir department of my church. So, when the opportunity came, I just went for it. What are you doing to stay on top of your game! As an actor, the best thing you can do for yourself is to keep improving on your skill. There are people you look up to. For me, I have several mentors; Genevieve Nnaji, Majid Mitchel and Uche Jombo. I pick one or two things from them in terms of acting, packaging and business sense and try to make it Belinda. I don't copy anybody but if there is need for me to watch a particular scene in a movie in order to perfect my act, I will do so. Also, in terms of business, one needs to know what these star actors are doing. That's basically what's keeping me going.

Have you played a love scene in a movie before now?

Yes, I have played love scenes before now. I played love scenes with Alex Ekubo and Majid Mitchel who molested me in the movie I featured with him. I also played love scene with Kanayo O Kanayo. Each time, you are playing the love scene, what actually come to your mind? Belinda-2 I am an actor and I have to be professional in my acting.

Some actors would tell you that while playing love scenes, their emotions usually come to play?

But mine never come to play because I become the character that I'm playing. I get involved in the character and when I'm through with the role, I return to myself again.

Have you been faced with a situation where you have to reject the person you are paired in a movie?

I hope to get to that stage where I would make a choice. But don't think any Actor has the liberty yet to reject whoever he or she is paired up with. Otherwise you have to give your reasons for rejecting the actor; whether he or she is a bad actor or the person has a body odour. So far, I have not been paired up with someone I considered as a bad actor or one who has a body odour.

You must have faced some temptation while on set ?

I always keep it professional whether it's white collar job or not. I don't want a situation where I would be uncomfortable on set simply because I have dated one person or the other. I respect myself and I respect everybody. Even if I'm tempted, I try to keep it professional.

Have you had such a request before?

Of course, we are all human beings. I am a good looking lady and a role model to many ladies out there. I'm not acting because I want to act. I have a desire to affect people's lives positively. Leadership is in service. I don't want to mess up my reputation now because I am working on a project called "Belinda Advocacy Against Rape."I have a reputation to protect. I have a lot of things in the offing. If one is tempted, one can easily go outside the industry to get herself a boy friend. I can't afford to mess around in the industry.

Are you saying that you will not marry in the industry?

I didn't say that. If I find somebody in the industry that I fall over heels in love with, why not.

How often have you had heart breaks?

My heart have been broken and I have broken other people's hearts. So, no hard feelings. It happens all the time where you like someone and he doesn't like you. That does not mean there is no true love.

Have you found true love?

You will get to find out very soon.

What do you like in man?

I like a God fearing man, and one who is down to earth.

If Jolla truly is compatible with Android devices, is Jolla going to let individual users to install the Sailfish operating system on the Android devices that they already have? Pienimäki answers: 'That is the plan. We are on device business and OS business. It is fairly easy to install the OS on Android devices'. Therefore, Jolla's plan is to get some Sailfish installations sneaked in, too."

Did Kim Kardashian change Kanye West?

Yea yea, we know Kim Kardashian taking her one
billionth selfie shouldn't really be news. Just that one can't
help but wonder what's going on in the mind of hubby-to-
be Kanye West.

Take a look at Kanye as he stands in the background
looking: emotionless. It's like he doesn't want to be there
but can't help it. It begs the question: what have the
Kardashian women got that somehow overpowers the men
in their lives, throwing them in second place – Kris
Humphries, Bruce Jenner, Lamar Odom, Scott
Disick. Makes sense?

We won't deny that a lot of Kanye fans feel he hasn't been
acting himself for a long while now but his 'craze' seems to
have grown exponentially ever since he started dating the
TV reality star in 2012.

The rapper now refers to his wife as the modern day
Marilyn Monroe, saying they, as a couple, are more
influential than the Obamas!

In recent times, Kanye has been thrown into the public eye
with Paparazzi swarming over him, releasing one of the
most confusing albums of the year, going off on a
Photographer at L.A.X airport, ranting at Pusha T's album
listening party, naming his daughter North West, turning
up on radio host Sway, calling himself the most influential
genius in the last 10 years, and on and on…

Will Yeezy fall in line with the other 'Kardashian men'
who have somewhat fallen out of the public's favour and
acceptance (except Scott Disick)? Only time will tell.

Photo: Mary J. Blige gave up alcohol after Whitney’s death

Mary J. Blige has revealed that the death of her close
friend Whitney Houston shocked her so much she gave up
drinking alcohol as she realised the 'importance' of her own
life.
The 'Be Without You' songstress says her close pal's death
in February 2012 had such a profound effect on her she
began contemplating her own mortality and gave up
drinking in a bid to boost her health. She said: 'I was at her
funeral [and] being that close to someone you loved so
dearly, in a coffin, it freaked me out. It made me realise the
importance of my own life. 'I didn't stop overnight, it was
a process. I feel great right now. I have more clarity, more
focus, more patience. And I lost weight. When you stop
drinking it flies off!'
The 42-year-old star will even abstain from toasting her 10-
year anniversary with husband Kendu Isaacs with a glass
of champagne next year. She told The Guardian newspaper:
'I'll have a glass of ginger ale. Ginger ale and Diet Coke
are my drinks.'
The 'No More Drama' hitmaker, who was hit with a $3.4
million tax lien earlier this year, says there are always
obstacles in life, but she has learned to deal with whatever
may come her way. She explained: 'There's always drama,
but you have to learn to navigate your way through it. Life
is full of trials and tribulations, but I know now how to get
out of it. You have to make a decision to say 'no more'.'

flames.
"Sheriffs deputies are currently investigating a two person

Station told HollywoodLife.com

at the scene. The coroner's office are the
ones who will determine the identity."

Varsity Blues. From there he became a household name,
especially when he landed the role he is most known for — as
Brian O'Connor in The Fast and the Furious movie series.
Other films he starred
in include Eight Below, Into the Blue, She's All That, and
Takers.
He is survived by his 15-year-old daughter, Meadow.

Boko Haram Insurgency: 24 Residents Killed in Fresh Attacks

Suspected Boko Haram militants killed 24 people in two separate attacks, eyewitnesses said on November 30, 2013, Saturday, just as the military vowed to ramp up security over Christmas.

Seven fishermen were ambushed and killed in the first attack in Baga, a fishing community on Lake Chad in Borno state, while seventeen people died in a separate attack on the night from Thursday to Friday (Nov.27-28), when gunmen in pick-up trucks torched more than 100 shops and vehicles in the Sabon Gari area of the Damboa district, 90 kilometres from the capital of Borno state, Maiduguri.

There was no immediate confirmation of either attack from the military or local authorities. However, the following details emerged.

Attack in Baga

"They killed seven fishermen, injured 15 others and burnt some local boats and nets used for catching fish," a fisherman, Ibrahim Gambo, said in Maiduguri, where he had brought his brother for treatment.

"It was a reprisal by insurgents because the soldiers have two weeks ago clamped down on them," added another fisherman, Sheriff Bababa.

Attack in the Sabon Gari Area of the Damboa District

Insurgents suspected to be members of the Boko Haram Islamic sect invaded Sabon Gari village of Damboa local government area of Borno State and killed 17 residents and burnt down over 100 houses, shops, motorcycles and vehicles.

The Sabon Gari Main Market was also burnt down and property worth millions of naira destroyed. A report claims that the villagers killed two of the attackers with the assistance of some vigilante groups, while three others who fled to Damboa town were arrested.

A resident who did not want his name mentioned told that the terrorists invaded the community at 11.35 p.m. using several motorcycles and Hilux Toyota vehicles, and fired gunshots on fleeing residents, set houses, shops and vehicles ablaze. The attackers were chanting "Allahu Akbar" (God is great) as they arrived.

The violence lasted until about 4.00 a.m.

"As I am talking to you, I am parking out of this village with my family. I lost one of my uncles in the incident, and I have no reason to stay in this place again. The attackers said they will still come back to wipe out everybody next week," one of the witnesses concluded.

Revealed! Nollywood Actresses Pay Bribe To Win Awards – Organizer Speaks Out

According to Mr Seun Oloketuyi, one of the organizers of the
Nollywood Movies Award has exposed the dirty secrets of
many ladies in the Nollywood movie industry.

Hear what he said in a recent interview:

Interviewer: Do the actors/actresses try to bribe you to
manipulate the

awards in their favour?

Seun Oloketuyi: It depends on how you hold yourself. I remember in the third edition when the nominees list came out, one actress sent somebody to call me and offer me money in order for her to win.

I told the person that the money they offered me wouldn't
change my life in any way.

It is just the money I could spend in less than 24 hours. If I
collect money from anybody, before the next award, the person would easily tell a nominee to just go and pay a certain amount to me if she or he wanted to win. We have a long way to go.

Award ceremony is very sensitive. Once you get it wrong the
first time, you are doomed. There is no second chance.
Because of that, I cannot collect money from anybody. But
then again, I noticed that once the nominee's list comes out, some people start giving us jobs for our other businesses.
