PDP Can’t Reclaim South West States – APC

The All Progressives Congress has said that the Peoples Democratic Party cannot reclaim power in any of the states in the South West through credible polls except by the use of violence.

The Osun State chapter of APC, which made this known in a statement signed by its Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, in Osogbo on Monday, said that the people of the South West region, who were thrown into
backwardness during the reign of the PDP, would not allow
the party to seize power again.

The APC called on Yoruba people to be wary of "those
politicians of preys assembled in the PDP" to recapture the
South West states. He said that they had no plan for them
than to "squander their resources".

The statement reads in part, "It was during the PDP reign,
some Yoruba leaders were killed without trace of their
killers and the essential infrastructure for human capital
development as well as the industrial infrastructure that
Awolowo laid down were recklessly destroyed or sold off
to competitors of the race within Nigeria and to foreign
interests.

"Since 2010 when Awolowo loyalists assembled in the
Action Congress of Nigeria and later merged with other
political parties to form the All Progressives Congress and
finally recaptured all the states in the South-West except
Ondo. The Yoruba nation has since been trying to
reconstruct itself to attain the standard that Awo left and
move forward from there.

"It is therefore inconceivable that these people, who have
been so hurt by the PDP will, for any reason whatsoever
vote that party into power again".

In a counter-reaction, the state PDP chairman, Alhaji Gani
Olaoluwa, said Yoruba people were tired of the APC
governments because of their "anti-people policies, deceit
and corruption. We will flush them out of the South West,
soon".
