Man Stabbed Little Brother Because He ‘Just Felt Like Killing

A Phoenix man accused of murdering his 12-year-old half-brother allegedly told police, "Honestly, I just felt like killing," when questioned about the incident.
Andrew Ward, 27, is charged with first-degree murder and child abuse in the death of Austin Tapia, AZ Family reports. The 6th grader was playing video games at home on Wednesday evening when police say Ward stabbed him to death. Tapia's mother and two sisters had stepped out to get dinner, according to KPHO. Tapia had said he didn't want to go, and so was left home alone.
The mother told police that while they were leaving, they saw Ward walking in the direction of the home.
At around 5:30 p.m., police received a call from Ward, who was phoning from a convenience store.
He allegedly told them he stabbed someone. When authorities arrived, they found Ward covered in blood.
Tapia's friends and family say he will be greatly missed.
"He was always there when you needed him," one classmate told KSAZ. "He was funny, no matter what the day was like."
"It's sad to have his own brother stab him to
death," said another.
