MUST READ! Davido the Controversy Magnet -

Right from Davido's grand entrance into the music industry,
he's faced one controversy or the other. Although his first
single, "Back When" didn't give him the required attention
he needed, the follow-up track "Dami Duro" launched
the HKN spacecraft into the orbit of stardom. With"Dami
Duro", it was easily noticed that he abandoned the "Back
When" rhythm and moved base to Wizkid's realm and style
of music. But this did not hinder Davido's (David
Adeleke) rise to stardom as he still released hit after hit.
Then the controversies started!!!

In June 2012, Davido's song "No Visa" featuring his cousin
and label-mate, Sina Rambo, was leaked online. Twenty-four
hours later, Skuki released a single, "Move It", with virtually
the same beat. According to reports, Skuki were the original
owners of the beat which was produced by their childhood
pal, Theorysound. As luck would have it, Davido's team was
present when Theorysound played the yet-to-be released song
and Davido asked for the same beat to his song. Skuki ended
up distraught when they heard the finished product of "No
Visa" and to vindicate himself, Davido publicly promised to
keep the song out of his album, but the song did
enter…. Track 7.

Almost a year later, Omo Baba Olowo released another
hit "Gobe". "Gobe" was hugely accepted by music lovers,
but on its rise to being a mega-hit, it was halted by screeching
tires. Rumour had it that OBO actually stole the song from
an upcoming artist, Password. Password had released a
song of the same title in 2011 and Davido just made a few
changes to the hook and verses of the original song. Many
fans took to Twitter showing off their disappointment in the
"overseas" crooner as they believed it to be true.

"Skelewu" may very well be Davido's biggest hit ever. But
with its release came a hullabaloo of its own. This time
around, it has nothing to do with a stolen song or
beat. Hypertek's Dammy Krane is popularly known for two
trademarks: one is his very unique style of music; the second
is his crazy and amusing dance routine.

Although there are about three "Skelewu" videos on air, it is
very obvious that Dammy's dance flows within
the "Skelewu" baseline.

Dammy showed total dismay about Davido using his dance
without permission, but the HKN star claimed that everybody
already knows the dance as his(Davido's). Due to the fact
that Davido's hits reach the nooks and crannies
of Nigeria where Dammy's may not reach, it may seem that
this is another battle Davido has won unfairly.

Who wins this round – Davido or Waconzy?
Very recently, Port-Harcourt based singer, Waconzy,
introduced some hot action into the entertainment industry as
he blasted Timaya, Davido, Olamide and Tonto
Dikeh during an interview and again
on Twitter as artistes with meaningless songs. So far,
Davido has been the only one to reply him.

One can only wonder, would this turn out to be a personal
duel?
